My buddy and I needed our Jim Boy's Taco fix so we took the 45 minute trip and paid $8.50 to cross the bridge to get to the closest location in Fairfield. Luckily we went on a Taco Tuesday. Absolutely love that they make crispy tacos and dust the tacos with grated cheese. Tacos are the same as the ones I grew up eating. Never gets old. I have to go at least once a year to get the ground beef and/or a carnitas taco. I'm a fan so my recommendation is to stop by a Jim Boys Tacos if you drive anywhere close to one of the locations in NorCal. read more

I love Americanized tacos or "white people tacos" as some people call them. Taco Bell hard shell tacos are honestly one of my favorite comfort foods and I've tried a lot of places that make them, but nothing really compares. I've heard about Jim Boy's for years but never lived near one, so since I was heading to the Vacaville outlets I made it a point to finally try it. When I walked in nobody was at the counter for a couple minutes, but once someone came out the service was friendly. The salsa bar definitely needed some attention though because it was messy and a few things were empty. I came on Taco Tuesday and got four extra crispy beef tacos for $2.75 each plus chips, queso, and a drink. The tacos were really good. Not like Taco Bell at all honestly. They reminded me more of Jack in the Box tacos but way better. More meat, less greasy, and overall tasted fresher. The parmesan cheese on the outside sounds weird but actually works really well. I also liked the regular salsa more than the chipotle because it had more kick to it. The chips were also surprisingly good and reminded me of Chipotle chips with the salt and lime flavor. The queso tasted good too but they give way too much queso compared to the amount of chips. I honestly needed another bag to finish it all, especially for something that cost over six bucks. I ordered online and was given a pickup time of 7:15. At 7:40 I noticed a bag sitting on the counter only to find out it was mine. My food had just been sitting on the counter with no notification that it was ready. The food itself was terrible. My friend who grew up in NorCal said you need to try Jimboy's tacos. My wife is a taco connoisseur. She has OPINIONS about tacos because she grew up in San Diego and went to college in LA so she has eaten REALLY top notch Mexican food. She ordered the ground beef taco and LOVED it. They just go to town on the cheese and top it off with parm dust. This taco has made them famous since 1954! My wife said it was the best fast food taco. Better than Del Taco and Taco Bell. First time trying Jimboy's tacos, and it doesn't disappoint! Staff at the counter was amazing and patient with us. Got our food super quick & it's self seating where there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Also, has sauce bar and self serve drink dispenser. Definitely a great place to grab quick lunch. Food was delivered at our table and we tried the ground beef & steak taco. Crunch, cheese was on point, and loaded... It was DELICIOUS! The ground beef is definitely the winner although little grease dripping here and there but it's still would be my choice over and over again. Place was clean and tidy with well stocked supplies. Hubby was out on a fishing expedition and I knew he was going to be one tired dog when he came home. I handled dinner yesterday night and searched for Jimboy's Tacos. Low and behold there was a location in Fairfield, CA and I was super stoked because I thought their locations were in Sacramento, CA only. I signed up on their website and placed an order for a later pick up that way they'd be pretty fresh on my way home from the work cave. Their Fairfield, CA location was pretty close to the last exit in Fairfield where the Arco Station on the hill and Texas Roadhouse were. Upon entering the establishment - there were tables and chairs if you wanted to eat there and plus a TV playing what appeared to be UFC #score. I rang the bell to be greeted by a lady cheerfully. I told her I was here for a pick up and she let me know that the order is being prepared. About 6-7 minutes later, she came out with my bag, piping hot and ready to be devoured. By the time I got to the Vacaville Cave the tacos were still hot and ready. I got 2 taco super packs (9 tacos each, for a total of 18). It served 6 people and STILL had leftovers waiting to be eaten during 4th meal/munchie time. All in all, from the first time I tried their tacos to this last time. I am forking hooked! I don't know if it's the parm dust that gets me all the time but damn, it's crackish and I'm for it. read more

It's been years since I have had a Jimboy's Taco. I decided to order some for lunch. The tacos are every bit as good as I remember. They are fried, so the shells are nice and crispy, the cheese inside is melted, fresh crunchy lettuce, nicely seasoned beef and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese for a hint of saltiness. Since they are fried, they are a little oily. If you like Jack in the Box tacos, the Jimboy Tacos are a whole another level of goodness! The prices of their tacos have gone up quite a bit from when I last had them, but they are good size and doesn't take many to fill you up (I ate 4 and was really stuffed the rest of the day). I got an 9 pack togo for $28 plus tax. Inside they have a fair amount of seating. They have a TV playing the NCAA basketball tournament. They have a self serve salsa station. Service is just fair, but the guy taking orders is nice enough. If you are a fan of fried tacos, you need to try these. read more

On my way to UC Davis I finally stopped and tried this taco place once and for all. I had already downloaded the app which has lots of rewards and is easy to use once you give the cashier person your phone number to find you. First of all this the Fairfield location off 80 freeway and is tucked in the shopping center attached to a pizza place a salon and behind CVS. There is Lowe's a couple of gas stations drive thru Starbucks and a Raleys there. Friday lunchtime was not busy at all. The bathroom didn't have a code and was clean. Service was good lady Explained everything . They have a min salsa bar for your to go containers even has diced onions which you don't see a lot. I took onions jalapeños and hot sauce. I orders the 3 beef crispy tacos and 3 churros with chocolate dip not the caramel one. It's real messy be careful I got it all over my shirt. The taco meat was great quality beef. However it was real salty , I mean very salty.maybe the can ease on the saltiness if I tell them when I order next time . Otherwise the Parmesan on tacos I liked a lot but it was messy too. The menu was far more than tacos, they had burritos quesadillas bowls etc. I was thinking this is a strictly taco focused place, it was not .they make it fresh so it takes a good 10-15 min. I'll try other things next time but the night salt content will stay with me until they prove otherwise. Decide your self . Being someone who grew up on Jimboy's in Sac, I was so grateful to discover this location in the "Bay"-ish vicinity. The parm hard shell tacos, fresh ingredients and consistently keeps me returning. My favorites are their shrimp taco and bean burrito with extra onions. The shrimp taco is only available to order in person at either option or over the phone. The shrimp taco option is not included on their online menu which sucks. The wait at this location can be extensive even when you are the only person there and you order 4 tacos! This location is right off the freeway inside a shopping plaza, easily accessible, has ample seating and parking and offers various ways to order - in person at the register or kiosk, over the phone or online through their site. I am never disappointed with my food choices. Be prepared to wait unless you order ahead online prior to arriving. read more

Ok, so I'm only posting this review to warn others about ordering online at this North Texas Fairfield restaurant. On each item you can make changes and at the bottom of the item page, there is a box that you can input allergies. I'm allergic to avocado and so I put avocado in the box. Took a bite of my burrito and it was loaded with avocado. I immediately spit it out and took a Benadryl to make sure. I called the restaurant and the lady tells me that the box at the bottom is for "special requests ". I told her that the box says allergy and not special request but she insisted that's what the box says. So, be aware of this since she clearly had very little knowledge of the online order forms. read more

Well I had few issues with this location over a period of 1 yr almost. Hope my experience will prompt customers to Think and act appropriately.1) Today we ordered few items , being a vegetarian we ALWAYS ASK FOR BEANS VS beef/ chicken on any item. we found beef in taco so politely asks them to redo with beans. Arrogant cashier ( Hispanic )did NOT admit her mistake but blamed me accusing I did not clarify when receipt shows otherwise. She asked for unused portion in disbelief. After Proof was up pointing at her negligence, she became very defensive & angry. I ask for refund on the item instead of redo. She refused, I did not budge. She tried calling ( Owner?), with No answer, finally she hands me refund " We will NOT SERVE YOU again". I felt a) to SUE them for serving us beef ( faith ) & confronted " NOT only I will Never contribute to their business BUT perhaps 100's 1000's of customers will STOP going after reading this review. 2) Gift card issue- Had gift card purchased this year and same Cashier several weeks ago will NOT accept my valid card( more than enough balance) for payment, so after enough argument she finally does. I reached out to corporate office with complaint and matter resolved in my favor but felt ANXIOUS every time we go there to use up remaining balance. Employees such attitude, racism, and discrimination ( allow vs disallow customers is against the law in Californian and will therefore be implemented. Message to OWNER ( & Corporate)- recommend strict actions on Her employment, or else Law will haunt you for sure. Perhaps take business elsewhere to be that sticky. BTW food and atmosphere is JUST Average for us. We wont be returning and will petition to have them relocate or Hire law abiding employees. read more

Came here on 5/25/24 at 1:00pm. Awful, awful experience. Placed an order online for pick-up for 18 tacos. I was given a pick-up time 15 minutes later. I arrived 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. When I arrived to check in with the counter, they had no idea where my order was. They eventually found it and told me it would be an additional 20 minutes because they didn't receive my order. Annoying... but ok. What made it worse was it took an additional 45 minutes, not 20. I forgot to do that because I was busy chowing down on their excellent ground beef tacos and freshly fried beef taquitos with guacamole which is always a favorite of mine. I purchased a Tahoe burrito, it was a waste of my money $10.00 down the drain nastiest burrito I ever had! I've never been so disappointed. Ground beef was over cooked and crisp, it looked like it was just thrown together. Ground beef was falling out on the wrap and coming out of the bottom of the burrito, it wasn't rolled with care. This was an Email to corporate- and only got a generic response back. Same way all their responses on here are cookie cutter. We were traveling on 7/23/24 and specifically planned to have a stop at a Jimboys for tacos. Having only been to various other locations over the past 30 years, we just followed Apple Maps to the closest Jimboys. Fairfield was disappointing. Now that I look at the Yelp reviews, I see that we are not alone in our dissatisfaction. We wanted to share this information because this location is doing a huge disservice to the Jimboys name and reputation! Issues of note: *The AC was set to 85 degrees (I could see that from where I was sitting), and it was very uncomfortable. I can't even imagine how the employees felt. We ended up sitting outside in the horrible heat, because at least then there was a breeze! *They charge for condiments such as jalapeños? And according to other reviews: onions, etc as well! Looking at the Jimboy's app, it's not common practice to charge! I guess that's their franchise decision to make, but wow 45c for a tiny cup? Pretty lame. *The ENTIRE salsa bar is GONE! Nothing. Not one item. It's just sitting there empty. Cheapskate is all that tells me. *We had to go back inside and ASK for taco sauce. Annoying, but whatever. Glad we realized it. If we had driven off and realized it later, that would have been obnoxious. Even Taco Bell knows to ask if you want taco sauce! *Skimping on the parmesan cheese is just another cost cutting measure.
