Date of visit: October 30, 2016 For National Sandwich Day, might as well review the most recent sandwich place we visited over the weekend, which was Jimmy John's. While San Diego County doesn't have one yet, the Southland has a few - the most recent being the location near my girlfriend's place. We came in and placed our orders: the #5 Vito (Italian sub with Genoa salami, capicola, and provolone) for my girlfriend, and the #2 Big John (roast beef and cheese). Yes, these 8" subs come out fast, and the French bread that they come on was pretty good... but it feels like there's something lacking within the sandwiches. While the roast beef and the Italian meats in our sandwiches were on point, there just needed to be a little more oomph in terms of flavor (we didn't know that you could add on extra veggies and dressing - and given how we both felt like it didn't fill us up, that would've helped). Perhaps we should've ordered one of the Club sandwiches or even the J.J. Gargantuan instead... however, we did like the chips that we chose for our combo; at Jimmy John's, you can choose from either kettle chips, a cookie, or a dill pickle. My girlfriend and I also liked the motivational signs around the restaurant, as well as the classic oldies being aired over the inhouse speakers. And, no trip to Jimmy John's would be complete without going into the bathroom and checking out the descriptions of what type of bathroom user you are! Although, I noticed that my type was left out... The Librarian (what can I say - I like to read on the throne)! Overall, not TOO bad... but if Jimmy John's does decide to expand to San Diego County, they need something to stand out besides their speed of service and tasty French bread. read more

I love this Jimmy Johns!! I relocated jobs from Anaheim Hills to Diamond bar last year and was looking for a spot to have a good sandwich that's near my work. I happened to find Jimmy Johns and I'm so happy that I did! They don't have good sandwiches they have great ones! They also deliver to my work! Before the pandemic they knew me when I walked in, but things changed Jimmy Johns closed and I was super sad! I was beyond happy when they opened back up! I eat here at least once a week ( twice this week). I have been using the delivery service but today I had a free sandwich for my birthday and went inside. The employees are cheerful and greet you when you walk in! My sandwich was great the customer service was great! Thank you Jimmy Johns for my delicious lunch!! read more

Tonight was my first time visiting a Jimmy John's, and I gotta say, it was a very good and positive experience. The two employees who were there were both very polite, professional, & friendly. I had got there just around closing time and they cheerfully took my request. During such trying times, it's very refreshing and encouraging when employees stay the course and keep a positive attitude. The food tasted fresh and delicious!!! Like I said, I had never been to a Jimmy John's, but I surely will be returning. Great service makes A HUGE DIFFERENCE at any eatery, and is very much appreciated. Thanks very much!!! read more

The sandwiches here are just ok. I don't know what it is, but even though the ingredients and cuts of meat are good quality, I believe it's just the overall taste of sandwiches that have been made from mass produced supplies of pre packaged ingredients laden with salt and preservatives that are the culprits. I feel the same way about most sandwich chain restaurants, like Subway. I still prefer sandwiches from those "hole-in-the wall" independent sandwich shops. Service here is fast, the workers are pretty friendly (but, passive), and the place is pretty darn clean. read more

This place is so inconsistent! Not sure what is going on but I give up on them. I always use the Jimmy John app to order- it's so convenient.....but half the time you can order from this location and they don't answer there phone. Maybe they are out of business- if not they sure lack the service part that the other locations offer. read more

#2 Totally disappointing, very dry.. cheese was extra the cost was $7.45 a bit pricy for the quality. The staff was very happy... NOT! They were miserable did not greet anyone who came walking through that door. A worker asked the cashier a question about a order and she ignored him. Who's the manager... nice job with your employees. read more

Let me tell you why this is a 5 star review... these staff members work hard when they are obviously under staffed. I went in today 8/17 around 12pm and there were about 10 people in the restaurant all coming in to order their lunches and only 3 staff members behind the counter. You could also see they were trying to complete a large catering order. Although I had to wait a little longer the staff were positive, apologetic (even though they didn't need to be) and getting the job done! I felt bad because you could feel the stress but they were great. I've gone here for years and yes, my orders been incorrect before but I will take the positive staff anytime over what you get at other food places! Props to this team. read more

Small location next to Starbucks. Ordered a Little John. When they say Little they really mean little. Quality is reminiscent of sandwiches they give you during school field trips. One slice of meat. A smattering of lettuce and veggies. Had to supplement sandwich with another meal. Not a large person so my appetite is on the smaller side. The pickle was the only saving grace. Would not recommend for Little John size. Will reorder and try other sizes to see if quality improves or stays the same. Give it a try but temper expectations. read more

The food is great. They let you customize your sandwich with a variety of free add-ins. You can ask for extra of anything so you get a good hearty sandwich. If you don't think the sandwiches have any flavor, add some flavor. They offer three different mustards, oregano blend, mayo, and more. My orders have always been correct whether I order at the counter or using the app. Some of the employees are not as outgoing as others, but that's life. Not everyone is going to be thrilled to see you. The employees are not rude and work hard to get the sandwiches out as fast as possible. The restaurant seems clean and tidy whenever I visit. If you're looking for a decent sandwich prepared very quickly, this is the place to go. I usually get the Beach Club on their 9 grain roll. Simple and quick ordering process makes them convenient for a lunchtime trip where you are time crunched. Pretty much everything you would expect from a fast food sand which store. Right away when walking in, you could smell that this place was clean and well kept. We were greeted promptly. And the cashier was personable and friendly. Even offered suggestions and answered our questions thoroughly. Sandwiches came out quickly. Tasted delicious and had excellent presentation. This was the most pathetic sandwich I've ever seen! Where are the veggies? No flavor at all and very skimpy. I'll stick to Jersey Mike's, Philly's Best, Firehouse Subs, and Subway in Chino. I made a special trip here based upon my sister's recommendations of their chain. Worst sandwich I have ever gotten anywhere. I thought I would give this place a try, well I was thrown off at not being able to see my sandwich made at all, seems my reasoning was on spot, I had asked for bacon to be added. I love this Jimmy John's my favorite sandwich place around better then them other popular sandwich places. Don't tell anyone but I like them better than Giulianos in Redondo Beach. Jimmy John's is way better with their soft bread and fresh deli meats, cheese, and veggies. Prices are not too bad and a plus for me is they are local. I was so sad when they closed during the pandemic but I was happy to find out they were open when I called and I came by right away to order sandwiches. If you want an employee to eat his sandwich, lick his fingers as he counts out the cash then go here. As I walked in, Jack was leaving his shift meanwhile an older white male was taking over the register since Jack was leaving. No greet just a blank stone faced stare. Waited a couple minutes while the other guy finishes his sandwich with no acknowledgement whatsoever. I left, this will be the last time I ever walk in to give business to this place. Disgusting. Don't they train workers that they can't eat on the job especially in front of you at a place you're trying to purchase food from. Unsanitary and unprofessional. read more

I love this place They really are fast and the quality of the food is good. The staff is friendly and remember me every time I go there (which is often because it's down the street from my office). I usually get a turkey Tom with no tomato and on 9 grain bread. I eat half and give the other half to my son. It's a win/win in my book. read more

FOUND A LIVE GNAT IN MY SANDWICH!!! I literally just came home from this place 15 min ago. And when I opened my sandwich to add my own yellow mustard (because they forgot to give some to me), I found a gnat lying on top of my meat. And when I went in for a closer look, it moved. I had first tried Jimmy John's Sandwich when I was in college in Greensboro, NC. It was love at first taste, the bread, the fresh meats, and veggies, it's unique decor had made a lasting impression on me. I went into the Army after college and stationed in Kentucky, Colorado, and Texas, everywhere I went, I had always wondered if there is a Jimmy John's nearby for my craves. I was out of the military by 2014 and had the opportunity when the brand entered California, so there went the Jimmy John's in Diamond Bar.

Service was okay-we did have to ask for things, but it was hard to flag someone down as we were out of their sight line (on the other side of the wall). Pricing for the food was also only okay... it was on the pricier side for the food. Plenty of parking as this was a strip mall.

Now 15 years later and with paltry income, I can treat my mom to lunch here! They're open at 11 AM, but we went in at around 10:50 AM since the Open sign was turned and the Open lights were one. Worker there greeted us with a smile, checked up on us the entire time, refilled our waters, brought us bowls to help us split food even when not prompted, and had a smile on the entire time. For the hour that we were there, a single diner came in and a party of 8 as well. They have a written wait list in front and a to go order kiosk, so you can tell they're pretty popular. Both of us got custom pho, which is $17 (the lowest base price unless you get plain) and you get an option of 3 proteins. Add an extra $1 for fresh noodles. We both just opted for the classic thin noodles. I ordered without beansprouts thinking it was already going to be in our broth, but it comes out as a side dish but the plate was enough for my mom and I to share. HUGE portions of pho. The bowl size is easily a large at any other pho restaurant. Both of us finished all of the meat in our order, but there was still a decent amount of noodles left so come in hungry. I ordered my custom pho with beef brisket, flank, and rib eye. Some of the cuts were a bit more fattier with big chunks of chewy gooey fat, which I'm not a fan of and left in the bowl. Other than that, pretty good meat quality. Not the most tender, but not tiny pieces or too dry either. Broth was pretty flavorful, nice depth of taste with the beef stock flavor, the onions and other garnishes. It's a bit fatty in taste, but it makes it richer in my opinion. We got a regular fried rice to try and take home for my brother's lunch. It's a plain one with carrots, peas, and scrambled eggs with some onions, garlic, and pepper (the spice). Light in flavor so it's not mega greasy. Just add some sauce on the side to taste. Overall, not a bad experience.
