Yikes. I had met Jimmy John himself on an occasion where he flew in a steak and crab dinner on its own private jet! It was an amazing meal he prepared for our group. For this reason, I have been anxious to finally try a Jimmy John's restaurant, and one finally moved into my Los Angeles area city. Boy was I disappointed! I ordered the Italian sub. It came on a very ordinary white bread roll and was so sparsely filled with meat and extras that I had to post a photo of it. Seriously, the sandwich shop across the street must put triple the amount of meat and extras. This thing was maybe two small slices of meat, one small slice of cheese and the rest was shredded lettuce. They must have a profit margin of 700%! My daughter ordered the veggie sub and it really was one slice of cheese and shredded lettuce. A very small amount of avocado spread was in there somewhere. Now, for an extra charge of about $4, I was fortunate to receive a pickle in a !ziplock bag!, a bag of chips and a cookie that has 20 grams of added sugar for flavor. Another $2.50 got me a drink. I'm not sure this review will even matter much since this is a chain but I wish the staff would be more cognizant about what's going on when taking orders. Not quite sure why this location gets poor ratings. I mean reading all the reviews nothing sounds at all like a material issue here. I have found this and all JJ's to be good sandwich shops, with friendly and considerate employees. The prices are fair given the portion sizes and there are a lot of options. Seriously, the meat is so much higher quality than the Subway and Jersey Mike's food. Sure, maybe you get a little less meat...but it isn't mystery meat and the veggies taste fresh. Had a catering order. When my husband went into the store to pick it up the guy at the front barely looked at him and told him they don't have an order for me. They were literally making the last few sandwiches at the moment AND we called ahead. I was very annoyed. At 9 months pregnant I had to get out the car to show my email confirmation. Ok. Here is the thing. About 7$ for a Totally Tuna on Wheat. The bread is like that whole grain sliced bread. You get lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber. I ask for sprouts*(depends on avail) and peppers and jimmy mustard. Is it worth 7$ for the quantity and quality.. I'm neither here nor there. I am waiting for something to wow me to keep me coming back. But it never happens. Sometimes it's fast and sometimes they are training some newbs and it's really slow and they forget stuff. Today was fast. But as the nice guy making my sandwiches calls out order ready, realized he forgot the jimmy mustard. Good call to catch it before I got it, so kudos. So I sit back and watch him unravel the sandwich kick in some mustard and wrap em back up again. Place is always clean. So is the bathroom. I wish they would just put out packets of the mustard for people to take and peppers. That way we don't have to ask them for it everytime. That's about it. You couldn't go wrong with the tuna here. Picked up a to go order today (Sunday 1/15 around 4:30pm). When I walked in was not greeted by the employees behind the counter. Nobody said Hello. They just stared at me. I let them know I had a to go order and the gentleman says there in the back. I asked to add a bag of chips he then grabbed my order for me which was nice. But as he is ringing me up just continues to chat with his co worker. I said thank you have a great day and he just walked away and continued to chat with his co worker and said nothing g to me. I hardly ever write reviews, however, I feel really cheated by Jimmy John's. I ordered a regular turkey sandwich with avocado and cheese added. That cost me an extra $2.50 each. I knew that going in, and I agreed to the extra cost. I got my sandwich and when I got home, I discovered there appeared to be no avocado on my sandwich. Before I called the store, I opened up the sandwich and I was literally lifting up lettuce, tomato, and turkey, searching for the avocado. I saw what literally looked like a tablespoon of smashed avocado spread out across my sandwich. I wasn't even sure if it was avocado. It was green. I can't believe that I didn't have at least one or two slices of avocado that were visible on the sandwich. I know avocados are expensive, but to charge a customer $2.50 for approximately a tablespoon of smashed avocado Highway robbery. Being from Michigan, I was really excited to hear that a Jimmy John's opened just down the street from my work. I headed over the place did look bright and new. I was shocked to see how much more expensive it is for a sandwich here compared to Michigan since all other franchises (such as McDonalds, subway, Burger King) don't charge more for just being in LA. It's about $2 for the sandwiches here but it didn't matter because I have always loved Jimmy John's. I ordered the Boot Legger and Turkey Tom. The Boot Legger was missing lettuce and my turkey Tom just had a pinch of lettuce. The meat in both sandwiches were also very skimpy compared to what it usually is. This is a very disappointing Jimmy John's. You're better off just going to subway. Since Jimmy John's is newer to this area, many people won't know what it used to be. Stopped here for a sandwich and ordered a tuna on French bread(gutted) with extra cheese. Got my sandwich and literally all bread and very little tuna. So I didn't complain because just maybe that is the amount the policy requires. I went back into the store to ask if I could just purchase extra meat and explained why. Both employees looked at me as if I was speaking a language they didn't understand so I explained again what I was asking for. They told me I could not do that. So I asked" can a customer not order extra meat on a sandwich" and they said "yes". I followed by saying "so why can't I just order extra meat for my Sandwich" she said they would have to ring up the extra meat with a Sandwich". I'm not sure why that is because I definitely worked at this establishment before and the register is able and maybe even more so now because that was years ago. Anywho, I asked if they just needed to remake the sandwich, since my simple solution wasn't available. The employee said yea they can and asked me to go get the sandwich. I go back to my car grab the sandwich and come back in. She then tells me she has to void my order and recharge me and asked for the receipt. I told her I wasn't given a receipt and she proceeded to say it's probably in the bag. I told her the bag was in the car and asked why she didn't tell me she needed that when she clearly knew I had to go back to my car to get the sandwich. She follows by saying "well I assumed you would bring the bag in". So of course I'm annoyed at this point because when she asked me to go get the Sandwich she didn't mention needing the receipt. The customer service was not what it should've been in this situation and the back and forth for a simple fix was very unnecessary and I will probably never be back to this location. This is the first Jimmy John's that I've been to that doesn't include the drink with a box lunch. Every other one always includes a drink, but this one is different--you're better off going to a different one. You at least don't have to pay for a drink. Anyways, the three stars I do have on this review are solely for the food and my loyalty to the chain. However, the staff members here are rude, don't like their personal conversations being interrupted, and apparently were offended at the fact that I had mentioned that other Jimmy John's franchises actually include the drink with the meal.
