At 2pm in my lunch break I ordered a sandwich through the app, I wait to see when the app keys me know it's done so I can go pick it up, I only have 30 mins for lunch, they took 30 mins to make my sandwich in which case i could not go pick it up, I spoke to the manager Helen who told me "you should have just came in and picked it up." Well Helen i use the app for a reason, if you're not training your employees to let the customer know the item is ready for pickup then how they going to know when to pick up?? My order is always ready at the promised time and the staff is polite. On one of my visits I redeemed my free birthday sandwich/wrap. I was hungry and had big back thoughts and somehow I either added or forgot to remove the mayo from my wrap. After one bite I could taste the after taste of the Best Foods or Hellmans, and was so disappointed. Luckily they didnt use a lot, or the other ingredients minimized some of the taste, but I still tasted it. Took three more bites and still tasted the after taste of the mayo. I finally tried to picklewhich. I opted for the simple turkey and cheese version. Definitely had curb appeal when I opened the packaging and although it was a nice large pickle, it was very small compared to a typical sandwich. Went to Jimmy John's today with some co-workers for lunch. Walked into their small location and they had a sign on their register "no ice". So I ordered two sandwiches a bottle water and chips. They would not give me the combo deal even though their ice machine was down. I also asked for both sandwiches to be cut in half. My bill was $21.53. I handed the employee a $50 bill. He said he would not accept it. The employee said it was store policy to not accept anything over a $20 bill. I understand this is If my bill was under $10. But my bill was $21.53. I tried using my card and the machine was not accepting it. The employee said I could walk to a bank next door. I ended up using Apple Pay and it worked. I got my sandwiches and neither were cut like I asked. I didn't go back and ask to cut it. I just sucked it up. Before we left my co-worker went back in to refill his warm drink and he said the employees were talking smack about me. I will not be going back to this location. Not sure what's up with the low ratings but I've been a fan of Jimmy John's (JJ's) since I first tried their sandwiches in Chicago. I especially like their buns and how their sandwiches are wrapped. Anybody else look at these details? I say that because Subway and Quizno's are really sloppy at "packaging"/wrapping their sandwiches. Anyway, the prices are higher here compared to its competitors but I like the fresh taste of their ingredients. While other sub shops over-season the sammies with condiments, the ones at JJ's are just right for me. I'd rather taste more of the fresh ingredients than the dressing. Plus, they are super fast at getting the sandwiches out for you! I like that a lot especially when I'm in a hurry during lunch hour. You can enjoy the sammie indoors or in their outdoor "patio" area, or take it to go, like myself. This JJ's is located on Central Ave and Magnolia Ave near the Riverside Plaza. You may get lost looking for the parking lot if it's your first time coming here because of the way the shop is situated. I've never once tried this place before the pandemic. Honestly I never gave them a try because I didn't used to be in their delivery zone, despite being an easy-peasy 5 minutes away. Since the COVID circumstances, they expanded their delivery zone, and I've honestly ordered from here at least once a week. Some day/times delivery is a freaky fast, but some days delivery is backed up and is neither fast, nor freaky. Either way it's only a $1 delivery fee and the sandwich is always delicious! I have honestly not tried much other than the Country Club, but it's so tasty, why mess up a good thing? Yesterday I went to purchase their "day-old-bread" for a gathering we're having and they didn't have any, not a big deal. I bought it fresh as I didn't have any other choice; I didn't have time to make it back to the grocery store. Our gathering expanded so I went back this morning, as soon as they opened thinking I would have a greater chance of getting the day-old stuff and still, no bread. The associate remarked they forgot to save bread from the previous day. Not saying that's what happened yesterday but it is an odd coincidence. I completely understand that it's only while supplies last and relative to the previous day's sales but if these two scenarios so happen to coincide with my experience and simply not saving the bread, then JJ's shouldn't market or offer it as an option, not to mention it sounds like they threw away yesterday's bread for no good reason. I called like 4 minutes before they closed 02/17/21 (I want the staff to get credit) and the guy was not rushing me at all. Wanted a little bit to eat for lunch because I had a giant breakfast. I though how about a little sandwich. So I stopped in to Jimmy Johns. My first mistake. They have no small sandwiches but I was offered a plain slim. They are literal when they mean plain. Bread, meat and cheese. Another mistake I made was asking for mustard. Wrong! While the nice young lady helping me was trying to accommodate, someone more important came up and told her no and then looked at me and told me those come with no freebies. Freebies? Mustard? You would think I was asking for world peace! I didn't even want anything that would cost them a few cents like lettuce or tomato. A spoonful of mustard! Rather than turning around and leaving at that point. I bought the regular one without lettuce and tomato with the mustard. Then I tossed half because I only wanted something little. $7.68 for bread, turkey, cheese and mustard! There are lots of amazing sandwich shops in Riverside. This one you can pass on. Spent $100 on an online order of a handful of sandwiches for the office. Picked them up myself, return to the office to find out we're missing a sandwich. One of the sandwiches was mislabeled as the missing sandwich, so I called them shortly thereafter. I explain the situation and get put on hold for 15 minutes, no big deal though I'm at work and understand that hiccups occur especially during lunch time. The manager answers after the hold and claims she personally made the sandwich so she doesn't know what happened. I explained that out of the 10 sandwiches we ordered, we only have 9. She continues to want to argue over a $7 sandwich she personally made and claims someone must of ate it. We were offered a replacement or refund and took the replacement, but I was baffled by the reaction of the manager over a hiccup that occurred out of my control. I just wanted 10 out of the 10 sandwiches we ordered, not a battle over the phone with a very defensive manager. Over the past 2 months, I have popped into this location to pick up a pre-ordered and paid for online order on my way home from work a total of six times and this place is consistently a winner. We are a family who follows a Keto eating plan and their "unwiches" fit the bill perfectly. We have found that the Gargantuan Unwich is a favorite for us. My order is always ready to go when I arrive and the employees are always friendly. My only complaint is that they are a bit pricey for what you get, imo.
