Had the crabby chicken sandwich sliders with slaw and fries for sides as an individually packaged catered meal! The crab dip atop the chicken patty was salty but overall good. Jimmy's food truck came out to our 'burb last night. Spousal Unit and I wandered over for dinner (actually, she wandered. I vegged out on the couch). She brought back a Crabby Club sandwich for her, Shrimp Po'boy for me, and a big order of fries. Yowza! Both sandwiches were large, with well-fried (and well-breaded) proteins (and in her case a yummy crab topping), excellent tomatoes (which I've come not to expect), and great sauces, served on toasted rolls (an unusual and well appreciated touch). My shrimp were really, really plump and juicy. Fries were really tasty and abundant; I turned the leftovers into a nice pit beef hash for breakfast. Excellent! My wife and father and I went after a checkup after my cataract surgery at Hopkins. The place is massive and we were seating a high top table along the bar but did not buy drinks. The food is amazing. We had Ahi Tuna, Baja Rockfish, and Blackened Rockfish tacos. They have lots of menu items and even a couple non seafood items. There are a couple menus they hand you so be sure to look ahead online or look through all of them to find what you want at the best price. The prices are reasonable and lower than comparable places in downtown Baltimore. They are also sponsors for the Baltimore Sports teams and do road trips and do bottomless Taylor Swift brunches, the latter is how we learned about them but have not been able to go but would love to go in the future with friends. They did a guest appearance at Loan Oak in Olney, MD, about 1.5 hr away from their home location. Question? If you have a food truck, and attend highly populated events. How do you run out of crab cakes in 40 minutes? That was the case today. Many Olney, Md folks and close towns waited eagerly for the truck to come to lone oak today. Only to be disappointed. We arrived 11:45; by 12:30 they were sold out of crab cakes. I did get to try the crab fries and the crab pretzel. They were good, not amazing. My crab cake was delicious. It's what they are known for so it better had been! I also tried the drunken crab balls which i could have done without. They are crab balls in cream of crab soup. Just didn't taste good to me either. The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty. A bit heavy to have with my crab cake so I'll go for asparagus next time. Had dinner on Mother's Day. This place was very busy, but all of the staff were attentive and professional. Our drinks were really good and the portion of food was good. Not really sure what all the hype is about. We dined at the upstairs bar. The staff would definitely get 5 stars from the greeter at the bar stairs to the servers. Our server fully explained the menu and checked in with us multiple times. The cream of crab soup, definitely 4 stars, the crab cake was 3.5 - I didn't understand the hype. The shrimp were very good. Came here during a day trip and did a mini food tour. We didn't want to overeat since we had other places to try, but everything on the menu sounded great! It's a big restaurant, I believe it even has private or semi private dining area. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Their crabcake was amazing. Full of crab and well worth it. Packed with ample flavor and a each bite was a bite full of crab. The eggrolls were also a favorite of mine. They're huge and very shareable. The sauce was yummy and just one was pretty filling. I was pleasantly surprised about this place. This place was actually.nice. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally tried it on this past Sunday. The service was good. The ambiance was lovely. I loved the wall art with crab mallets. The dining room is large not for groups. I had the brunch Jimmy's hash and the crab egg rolls. The food is amazing and our server was so friendly. My first time here after all of the years that I've lived in MD. (NC now) we sat outside on the deck and the ambiance was great. TV's are outside. I'd strongly recommend reservations during the weekend including Friday. We chose apps only for our first experience. The crabcake egg rolls are so good! Packed with crab. My daughter's chicken fingers are now ranked as her #1 tendies. What stole the show was the Nachos. The steak on those nachos was so tender and cooked perfectly. That means that we must try their steak because if the steak on the nachos was that good then their steaks are amazing. I so wanted to like this establishment because I had heard so much about them. I think I caught them on an off night. We ordered the carb soup and egg rolls which were both tasty, before we could finish them the food came out and the server rudely said we could pack up the soup. The charred broccoli was burnt and we switched to the mixed vegetables which had the same charred broccoli and other charred vegetables so that was sent back. We than chose the sweet potatoes which were very healthy since it had no seasoning. The crab cake was just ok. The worse part was the service. There appear to be a lot of managers milling around that don't try to accommodate your concerns. We paid $99 for the food 1 soup, 1 crab egg roll and 1 single crab cake platter, and one crush. They automatically add in 18% gratuity and 3% smile fund (employees welfare or something like that). They gave us a free strawberry cheesecake for our troubles in a to go bag. I am crab wasted and happy. I was introduced to Jimmy's by my cousin who lives in Maryland because we don't have this kind of amazing seafood so far inland as North Carolina. I was hooked then. But to experience Jimmy's "in person" at a restaurant was the capstone to our weekend visit. First, Megan S. was amazing. She was so attentive and took extra time sharing her insight about the very extensive menu to us "newbies". We started with drinks and appetizers; they have a full bar. I had a peach lemon drop martini. It was good but just a tad sweet for my palette but I'm a rare breed. We shared appetizers: honey old bay wings and Maryland crab sushi rolls. I could have just had these two dishes and called it a night. I love Old Bay seasoning but adding honey to it was sinful. The sushi was topped with some of the most flavorful and plentiful crab meat. I initially thought I would get a crab cake but Megan sold me on the stuffed shrimp. So I decided to get the stuffed shrimp with a smaller crab cake on the side; I wasn't coming all the way from North Carolina and not having a crab cake. I cannot begin to put into words how much I enjoyed the stuffed shrimp; they look like crab cakes themselves. I have no idea how many ounces of the best crab meat I had tonight. I did order sweet potato wedges for my side but they didn't arrive in time before I was already stuffed. Go big or go home must have been the theme of the meal because we let Megan talk us into dessert. My hubby got banana pudding to go and my cousin and I split a dessert sampler. The sampler was good and the perfect size for two. We walked over to the take out area to get some Old Bay butters that we pray will make it through TSA. I cannot wait to return. The day of my reservation, I received a phone call from a worker of that establishment saying that they had to change my sitting area due to Nay Flowers of the Ravens signing autographs upstairs. For someone who is a huge fan of sea bass this is a totally different species of fish. It lacks the same buttery flavor and flaky texture that are hallmarks of traditional Chilean Sea Bass. I noted the visual difference as soon as the dish was placed in front of me. The flavor was not what I was accustomed to or what I expected. As a starter had the chowder and it was delicious. I went to Jimmy's Famous Seafood in Baltimore with two friends who helped me to celebrate my birthday (May 15th). We had never been there, but when I read the reviews, I was sold! Baltimore is known for its seafood, of course, being one of the major ports on the East Coast, just off the Chesapeake Bay, and if you close your eyes and toss a dart, you're going to hit good seafood restaurants every time. But Jimmy's, established in 1974 by the late Dimitrios "Jimmy" Minadakis (now co-owned by sons John and Antonios "Tony" Minadakis -- Tony is Executive Chef), is known for its excellent seafood, and we found out why. People are very discerning about their seafood here, so you MUST come correct when talk turns to customers' favorites, and the crabcakes at Jimmy's are #1, but they also serve hard and soft shell crabs, crabcake eggrolls, crab balls, steamers, a variety of fish and pasta... a nice, well-rounded menu which gets great reviews! The crabcakes: These babies are, indeed Jumbo Lump Maryland Blues, with very little binder! I really think the chef just sprinkled a tiny bit of binder over the crabmeat with a chef's kiss! And the menu is substantial, guaranteed to please all comers. I ordered half-a-dozen Salt Buoy Oysters on the half-shell to start, and I was sorry I didn't order a dozen! These babies are heavy on the salinity, which I like. Apparently the Maryland Coastal Bays contribute to what is described as an almost briny flavor. There were several other varieties on the raw bar menu. Mine came served on ice with the add-ons: a thick slice of lightly grilled lemon, seafood sauce with a dollop of horseradish, and chopped onions in vinegar. I added a bit of tabasco sauce to give them even more spiciness. Heavenly! I will be returning to try other selections, including the Chincoteague Oysters and the Bloody Mary deviled eggs, oh, and the Calamari, thick-cut Rhode Island Squid served with pepper strips, pomodoro, and "Bing Bing sauce! Yum! There are a large number of sides as well: nice, crispy french fries drizzled with crab dip ("Crabby Fries") if you prefer those over the regular fries; crab mac-'n'-cheese, which I ordered to take home, salads, and an assortment of veggies; the main menu also includes surf-n'-turf! There's also a seafood tower (the Seafood UFO), piled high between two big slices of bread with 7 pounds of a variety of seafood. It can be shipped to you for a group. One friend ordered crabcake sliders, and the other had a crabcake sandwich, both with the fixin's and sides of french fries. Jimmy's also has a nice seafood sauce to complement the selections, and they ship their seafood to all 50 states. They have partnered with another Maryland institution, Old Bay, to sell several bisques, soups and condiments. Jimmy's also provides catering. We all agreed that Jimmy's was a GREAT choice, no doubt about it! They also have food trucks that can be tracked online as they go from place to place in the city. You can rent the food trucks for private events as well. There's also a cocktail trailer and a steam trailer. The ambience was very nice, with a steady stream of customers, including birthday celebrants at another table. We waved and wished happy birthday greetings to each other. It became more spirited as happy hour rolled around, and we could tell many diners are regulars. The service was excellent and it was a real pleasure having Rini as our waitperson! She made sure we had everything we needed without hovering over us. She was great! Very thorough, serving up our food quickly! She was wonderful, and a great conversationalist! Jimmy's is the place to go if you want to impress guests, or if you simply want to enjoy superb seafood! It's also community-oriented and they sponsor various events such as Ravens tailgates, there will be a Jimmy's Bus Trip to a Washington Mystics vs. Indiana Fever game on May 28th, "Brunch and Bubbly" events, free trivia games on Thursday nights, concert trips, and there's also live music!
