We were visiting For the weekend and happened to be staying in a hotel across the way from this restaurant. Typically when traveling I do extensive research on local places to try but I failed to do so this trip. After a day of sight seeing we were hungry and didn't have a plan. Being that Jimmy's Kitchen and Bar was right across the street we spontaneously gave it a try. It was late afternoon on a Saturday and we did not have a reservation but they were able to seat us right away. For cocktails we each tried a peanut butter old fashioned. They were very good and from there everything we had was delicious. Our server was friendly and accommodating. We learned it was his first night there and he seemed like a seasoned pro! We couldn't be happier with our visit and only wish we lived closer so we could visit again. read more

Drove from Saint Cloud to eat here with some friends and it was well worth the drive! We ate here Friday night for restaurant week. I made a reservation for 6:30PM and arrived right at that time. Normally you have to wait for a little while to grab a table but they seated us right away! I have to say it was 5 star service and 5 star food. Everyone at the table said their food was delicious! I got the dry age ribeye and it was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The others at the table got Fillet and the Halibut and said it was amazing as well. Our server was very friendly and even though she was busy she was on top of everything. Thank you again for the great time and we hope to be back again some day soon! read more

Definitely worth a visit. Jimmy's is close to work and our go-to for a celebratory meal. The staff is always great and I have yet to order anything I didn't like. My favorites are any of the steaks, the Crab Cakes, the Prime Meatloaf, and the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. Today I had the Chop't Salad with a cup of Jimmy's Booya. I've come to Jimmy's for lunch in the past and it was a decent experience. This review is based on dinner Saturday night. Unfortunately it did not pass muster for a number of reasons, primarily service related. My friend and I had a reservation for 6 PM. She arrived first. When I got there, I was not given a menu or water or utensils. I had to ask for each of these separately. When I placed my steak order, I was given a dirty knife. I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it and just wipe off the crusted food but I couldn't get part of it off so I had no choice but to ask for a new knife. We were there for almost 2 hours and during that entire time, not once was our water glasses refilled, which I found surprising. In summary I'm just disappointed by this dinner experience with Jimmy's because past visits weren't like this. My friend and I agreed that the next time we go out to dinner in Eden Prairie we're not coming here based on this less than satisfactory visit. read more

I still say the French onion soup is delicious, but once again our main courses were disappointingly bland, so I'm dropping a star. My friend tried one of the halibut specials and was not impressed with the pesto drizzle and grape tomatoes on the plate. I hadn't liked my halibut last time so I asked for the panko-crusted walleye but broiled, no breading. This was served draped over some creamy mashed potatoes and topped with some tomato-basil salsa. The "two-pepper tartar sauce" was just plain jarred tartar sauce. Both of our fish dishes were bland. For $30-$35 we seriously expected delicious fish, but did not get it. Our server, Alexis, was delightful. She was knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating of our order substitutions, and very attentive. She was the highlight of our visit, along with the onion soup! The Meatloaf was exactly what I needed. I arrived without a reservation, but it was early...I was immediately seated. The wait staff was right on hand, and friendly. My Iced Tea was kept full, and flavorful! My dinner arrived very quickly. The gravy pulled the dish together with just enough tang and spice combined. Fresh Green Beans accompanied the potatoes, and frizzled onions. I splurged and topped off the meal with a small brownie sundae. The ice cream really hit the spot. Another great dining experience at Jimmy's. Stopped in a bit before 6pm on Saturday and was able to get seated. Waitress and helper (Armando) were great as always. This meal was first for family dinner here other than Thanksgiving 2 years ago (that was great). Started with some salads which were nicely prepared, not over dressed. My daughter branched out and tried the meatloaf dinner and she enjoyed it. Ate 1/2 as she wanted dessert, will be lunch tomorrow. My wife had filet mignon fettuccine which she said was very flavorful. I had the 11oz Prime rib. I took the au gratin for potatoes as love them but don't like to make them at home, theirs are nice and tender with a great sauce/cheese balance. The bread pudding was the recommended dessert and did not disappoint. Warm throughout with a flavorful sauce and topped with a good vanilla ice cream. It was a cold day, but we wanted to get out of the house and my wife said she had been to this place with a cool weekend happy hour a long time ago, near the house. It was about a 5 minute drive away and we sat in the lounge. I ordered a Sky-Five IPA from BauHouse (Local brew) and we had some great conversation about stuff married people talk about. Lots of TVs and our super cool waitress took our order. They have 4 mini crab cakes for 10 bucks (Very crabby, not a lot of filler) Delish! And I got the Jimmy's Special flatbread (Chicken and spices and I ordered light on the cheese) The first few bites were cold, but they threw it under the broiler again and it was A-OK. The beer was good, prices were reasonable, and the crab cakes were AWESOME! I was headed towards a 3, but the server was super cool, which jacked it up to a 4, plus they had a great beer selection for $4.75 happy hour taps. Fun lunch with a really pretty girl. read more

My friend and I go to Jimmy's happy hour 1-2 times a month because it's convenient and used to be good. Now? Not so much! Last night we were VERY disappointed with our food. I ordered the French Onion Soup (which I've ordered before and it was OK) and it was one oily, tasteless mess with too many croutons and almost no onions! I had to dump a ton of salt & pepper on it to cover up the oiliness and give it some flavor. If they have a new chef, they should be fired! My friend ordered the meatloaf sliders and she said they had some weird spice that left a bad taste in her mouth and were too spicy. AND, even tho we didn't get the chicken satay, which we used to always get, we no longer do because...#1, the chicken is so minuscule, it's almost non-existent; and #2, the sauce on the soba noodles is inconsistent in flavor...sometimes overly spicy, other times very good. And the salad was inconsistent with the add-in veggies. I have gone to Jimmy's for YEARS for holidays/special occasions, but I feel like they are operating on their reputation, and not their excellence. They were always our go-to place, but after our last few experiences (i.e.Thanksgiving and the H.H. problems), I think it's time to find a new "go-to" place! read more

I was at Jimmy's for the first time last night for a belated birthday dinner for my wife and my grandson (23 yo). We had a very nice time particularly due to the ambiance and friendly and professional service. The food kept me from awarding a fifth star as it was okay but not great. Jimmy's reminds me of a traditional mid western supper club with friendly staff, comfortable vibe and middle of the road food. Nothing pretentious. There is lots of parking and since the weather was icy, they did not stint on ice melt at the entrance which was much appreciated. The person who greeted us and led us to our table was exceptionally friendly and upbeat as was the wait staff. The food itself was typical of a midwestern supper club - acceptable but nothing spectacular. As there were seven in our group we ordered lots of different dishes. For appetizers we had Brussel sprouts (very good), calamari and lobster guacamole. The calamari and guacamole were just okay. I had the lobster risotto with scallops. The risotto was not particularly creamy and was in fact a bit watery and the scallops were somewhat overcooked and dry. It wasn't bad but for $42 it should have been better. Every one else ate their food but nobody said it was fantastic. They did give us a couple of complimentary desserts for the birthdays which was a nice gesture you don't see often these days. Would I return? Yes but if I were choosing the restaurant for a foodie crowd I probably wouldn't select Jimmy's. read more

Had a wonderful pickup-happy hour meal from Jimmy's last week and I'm still drooling thinking about it. Even though we were doing pickup, I did notice that they have expanded their outdoor patio into the parking lot to accommodate for more spacing between the tables. There was a happy hour special (which is awesome, which such good deals already it's great that they're offering the HH specials to-go, many places do not) so I called the restaurant to place my order. I went with the happy hour size of the meatloaf, which still filled me up as a meal. It comes with mashed potatoes and this absolutely insane gravy. I also got a side salad. Additionally I ordered the baja fish tacos on corn tortillas - everything was fantastic! To top it all off they were offering a bottle of house wine (cab or chard) for only a $5 add-on! When we got home with the food everything was packaged neatly, good portions, and the food was outstanding. Can't wait until it's safe to eat in - I can't wait to go back! read more

BEST happy hour in the 'burbs! Their happy hour prices can't be beat. This is a great spot to meet friends after work and have a drink or bite to eat. Their menu in general is great; I come here frequently and I've loved everything I've eaten. The lobster guacamole, cactus shooters, and ahi tuna are my favorites! They also have great soups, salmon, sliders, and fries... seriously, everything's good. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of seating at/around the bar and I've found that often times a reservation isn't necessary! So stop in any time! My absolute favorite thing though about Jimmy's is the gigantic candy bowl by the front door AND they don't even judge you (at least not openly) for stuffing your pockets on the way out. I've been to Jimmy's quite a few times and I keep going back. I took a friend there recently and she said it's an upscale family restaurant. I think that's a good description of the classy yet comfortable atmosphere and the friendly staff. They have good drinks (hello Hendricks Hound!) and some of my favorite appetizers. I really enjoy the spinach artichoke dip (I tried it once with chips instead of bread, now I'm hooked), cauliflower Buffalo bites (the vegan wings), regular and Asian wings, all the burgers and salads, steak, pot roast (called short rib for some reason)...ok I'm getting hungry, the list ends so I can go eat! read more

Well here's a first - I've never had to lower my review score for a place I originally absolutely loved. The hubby and I went to Jimmy's this morning for brunch, expecting the same great service and food as before. Apparently things have changed significantly here. The service was terrible. And I really mean terrible. It took over 5 minutes for somebody to stop by our table and ask if we wanted water, and the waits pretty much just continued from there. Service lowlight, however, came in the form of food delivered to the wrong table and then brought to our table instead. Really we literally watched the waitress pick up the plate from the booth next to us and deliver it to us, and she even said "it's fine they haven't touched it or anything." Ick. The food was just ok. My entree was delivered incomplete and when I asked the food runner about it, she said I was probably right but she was new and didn't know. It was eventually corrected so there's that. Two of our entrees arrived cold, and nothing was really stellar or stood out. Despite our first amazing experience, today's meal pretty much guaranteed we won't be back soon. read more

Anyone will tell you that the best part of a work trip is getting to try new restaurants. When I was told I was going Minnesota, I wasn't sure what to expect, and the only thing I knew about Minnesotan food is Lutefisk (ew). Jimmy's is right across the parking lot from the hotel I was at, and seeing as it was late, I was starving, and I had an early wakeup call (and a 25% off card), I might as well try it out. I ended up there twice that week. I had a seafood pasta the first night. It had a light red sauce with lots of seafood, to which I was pleasantly surprised. Several bay scallops, five or six giant shrimp, pieces of white fish, and handfuls of mussels and clams. So much food, I couldn't finish it - but I wanted to. It was delicious. The second night, I had the walleye dinner, which was also quite good. It's an interesting white fish that we don't have on either coast, and I liked it! Service was great both times - once at the bar and once in the dining room. The bartender was pretty busy but he certainly made time for me. It wasn't terribly busy in the dining room, but I was still really pleased with the overall experience. When they send me back to MN, I know where I'm going to go if I'm not eating lutefisk. read more

I went to Jimmy's Friday night for a holiday party. Our group had the back room reserved and it was a great experience. They first brought out appetizers which I skipped to be safe with my celiac. The chips are in a shared fryer but they mentioned there aren't many gluten items that they fry. For a drink I got the Pomegranate Mule which was very good. I then got a Caesar Salad without croutons, Salmon for dinner, and Creme Brûlée for dessert. The salmon came with asparagus and mashed potatoes which were all delicious. The restaurant had a nice ambiance for an evening party and the parking lot was pretty big but getting full at around 7 pm at night. It's definitely a nicer meal with the salmon being around 30 dollars but the cocktails and desserts seemed normal priced at 10 and 8 dollars. The staff was all very friendly and helped our group take pictures at the end of the night. I would definitely come back for a nicer meal and try more drinks, food, and dessert. read more
