We were unhappy with our Thanksgiving dinner at Jimmy's Kitchen. It has a very nice decor. However, our meal was not what we would consider good food. The turkey was extremely salty, green beans were near raw, no flavor to the carrots, the wild rice soup relied on salt for taste, the salad was stringy and not cut well, and the triple berry "cobbler" was a bowl of mush that had a terrible taste. This is a mixed review. If you want good drinks and good service this place will not disappoint. However if you are looking for great food to go with the great service the problem begins there. The food was underwhelming, under seasoned, and way overpriced. I had the grilled walleye stuffed with crabmeat. Small portion, bland and the sides were not great either. $38.95. I was wondering why there was salt and pepper on every table. (not something you normally see due to chefs pride) Well they had it. I felt like whoever made the food didn't care. NICE PLACE. We left hungry and dissatisfied. If you like small portions, of bland food, at high prices, this place is for you. The restaurant is nice the staff seem nice everything was OK until we started to get the food. The portions are small and the food is bland. I had to stop myself from going to Wendy's on the way home. This is my first and last visit here. I had the crab and shrimp stuffed walleye. Not good. Luke warm and fishy taste. Everything comes in the shape of a circle somehow? The fish, the mashed potatoes, the guacamole. Maybe less work on the symmetry and more in the quality. This place is terrible. read more

One of my friends suggested we meet at Jimmy's, a place none of us had been, for their great happy hour specials. I was skeptical based on their reviews, but decided to give it a try as happy hour is pretty hard to mess up. Our service experience was completely different from the other bad reviews - we LOVED our waitress! She was funny, prompt, and super helpful. I wish I remembered her name because she was fantastic. What was not great? My food. We ordered the guac, which had a consistency that was more watered down or liquid than I'm used to, but the flavor was okay. I then ordered the fish tacos. Do not get the fish tacos. Unless of course you enjoy a strangely breaded mixture of tuna and salmon. Yes, you read that correctly: tuna and salmon. In my mind/mouth, very different flavors and textures. The menu doesn't specify, and shame on me for not asking. When then arrived, I asked our awesome waitress if this was typically how the tacos looked/tasted (because they straight up were not looking or tasting good: the color of the tuna was grey and the texture was like gristle) and she told me about the mixture. She could tell it was a "no from me dawg", and was super nice about it and offered to get me something else, which I would never ask for on my own because I'm Minnesotan and we'd rather starve than ask to exchange food. I ended up going with the angus sliders, which were also just okay. Flavor-wise they were actually pretty good, but they were inconsistently cooked and were fairly pink on the inside. To be fair, I didn't ask for them medium-well, and will generally eat meat that's a little pink. This was just disconcerting because of the inconsistency - I was a little afraid I'd end up eating straight up uncooked beef. All-in-all, five stars for our sweet waitress, and one star for the food. Great service provided by experienced server and server-in-training for my husbands birthday. This was our second time at Jimmy's. Food was good, bordering on excellent. We started with the roasted Brussels sprouts, which are soooo yummy with truffle oil and NO bacon, thank you. Cocktails were good, although my seasonal "Glad Tidings" was not in my par with my previous visit / I missed the squeeze of fresh lemon. My husband said his steak was one of the best he's ever had. My salmon piccata with polenta and broccolini was good, but not great. The polenta could have been more interesting. This is the third year in a row that I have gotten Thanksgiving dinner for one to go from Jimmy's. The first year I got my meal hot and it was outstanding!! Portions were large enough for several meals. Last year I ordered the heat and serve and it was still good but not as good as the year prior. I was so looking forward to getting my hot meal yesterday but I have to say that I was so disappointed. First of all when I called to place my order I was asked my make and color of car and so I was expecting them to bring the food out as they had in prior years. There was someone parked in line in front of me and after about 10 minutes she went inside to see where her food was. Finally a very nice young lady came out and asked my name and a few minutes later she brought my bag of food. I am sorry that I didn't check the bag before driving home because when I unpacked it I was disappointed to find that they had forgotten my green bean casserole and the stuffing!! Who wants to eat turkey dinner without stuffing?! And to top it off the container that had the turkey was so full of juices that it leaked all over the inside of the bag and onto the seat in my car. I did call them and spoke to the same young lady who had delivered my food to the car and told her about the missing items. She apologized and said it was very busy but she would let the owner know. The food I did get was very good. I'm not sure if I'm going to do this again next year but if I do I'll be sure to check the bag before I drive off!! read more

Jimmy's Happy Hour menu has every drink on special (Pear Ginger is my favorite) along with a FULL menu of Happy Hour food. As a personal trainer/nutrition coach, I can actually enjoy food on Happy Hour that fits in my meal plan. I frequent restaurants but hands down Andrew, Robert, Phil and Justin are AMAZING at bartending and always ordering my favorite Happy Hour items (Burger and Brussels). The staff couldn't be more friendly. Mike, the owner, is extremely involved talking with customers, acknowledging regulars and supporting his staff. So, how often a week do I go to Jimmy's? We've eaten twice at Jimmy's, once last February and again two weeks ago. First time the food was lukewarm and way too salty. Second time the meals were again too salty and my scallops reeked of ammonia and were inedible. We live close by and really want to like this restaurant, but so far can't give it more than two stars. I went to Jimmy's by myself while in town for work. I sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner. Location-wise, Jimmy's is easy to find (a stand-alone place in a strip mall parking lot), is conveniently close to the highway, and has plenty of parking. Inside the restaurant is nice, mostly an old-school feel of large dark booths, dark lighting, but they do have some colorful and interesting artwork all over the walls. For a Sunday night, they had a fair number of customers but were not overly busy. Most of the patrons in the bar area were 50+ age group, and mostly looked to be business types, which is fine by me because that usually means quiet and relaxing. The bar is a full bar, with a decent selection of beers (although not extensive.) The bartender was a good guy, he made sure I was taken care of and well-tended. The food was fine, I'd call it "good". But nothing jumped out at me as a reason to go back. I had a caesar salad, the burger with fries, and chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Everything was good, no problems. But I think you can find same or better at any number of places. The prices were not cheap, but not terribly expensive either. Overall, I'd give Jimmy's 3.5 stars if possible. I'd go back, but I won't be beating a path to their door. read more

Jimmy's has always been a favorite spot for us but we wanted to take a moment to express how well Jimmy's is doing in handing the pandemic. They have mastered cleanliness, distancing and safety. We feel comfortable eating indoors, and enjoyed our Halibut dinners. Joe provided excellent service too!! Conveniently located mere blocks from my corporate office, I had my first happy hour at Jimmy's Food and Cocktails last week. It was a pleasant experience. The bar was packed, even before 5pm, so they must be doing something right! Our server was nice but slammed busy, so not with us as often as we would have liked. Perhaps they were short staffed that day? I started with a glass of malbec which upon receipt, was bad, so when I was able to grab the server, she promptly provided me a new one from a new bottle. Problem solved! We leveraged the extensive happy hour discount menu for our dinner. I had the spinach dip with crostini. A guilty pleasure, it didn't disappoint. It came in cast iron, and who doesn't love anything in cast iron! It was rich, creamy and easy to smear all over the toasted bread. The wines by the glass list was unimpressive, which is too bad given the vibrant happy hour crowd they boast. My sister didn't dig her lemon drop martini, which is never a great sign. Was in the area and stopped by on a Friday night. The restaurant was packed. Was able to grab the last 2 seats at the bar. The bartender, Justin, was great. In between his creations of drinks he was always aware of when we were done or needed something. Food was delish! My husband had the ribeye steak. The steak had great flavor. Went for happy hour recently and will not return for that ! Tried several food items that were horrible. Wings tasted funky, like they had been in the freezer too long. Mother's Day Brunch. I chose this place as husband, to my family's chagrin. I had no idea it was a buffet-style only menu until we arrived. Soggy soupy scrambled eggs, dried out bacon like beef jerky, etc. Typical for what happens to food sitting out for hours. Glimmer of hope when saw there was prime rib, but that was under seasoned, and very bloody. Way too rare. I usually order medium rare so a little blood is ok but not like this. The caramel roll was pretty good. Left hungry and cost $40 per adult. Feel robbed. The whole family said it was terrible. Never will come back. I chose Jimmy's for my fiancé's birthday dinner and was extremely disappointed. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great, but the food made me regret going. Eating at this restaurant was the restaurant equivalent of watching a bad movie and wanting to walk out in the middle of it. The steak and burger we had lacked flavor and the mashed potatoes tasted like instant mash without any butter. Everything was significantly overpriced for the French fries being the only palatable part of my meal. I came here a lot for business! Parking is the pitzzzz but the food makes up for it! Great food! I recommend either the walleye or the Mac n cheese! Sit in the bar for a fun environment. When your stuck in the hotel that shares this parking lot- Jimmy's is your only source for a drink. Unless you'd like to cab it somewhere else or even worse yet, drive. Jimmy's was in walking distance, so a group of us ended up there pretty regularly. It was never very busy. The food is on par with Chili's. The drinks specials seem to go every night no matter what time. It's always Happy Hour. I would only go again if I'm stuck in the vicinity and in need of a drink! read more

JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES!!! Order them. Its not those mushy where's the crab in my crab cake, crab cake. It real, meaty, oh so good thank goodness I don't (eventhough its worth it) have to crack the crab myself, crab cake. I know but I'm serious its really good. I work close by and love their lunch specials. I usually do one of their cool lunch combos (salad and sandwich, soup and salad, or pasta and salad). Service was kinda weak--no hostess and none of the servers or bartenders acknowledged us when we came in. I finally had to go up to one of them and ask if we could be seated (sign up front says to wait to be seated). They only gave us one menu (there were 3 of us), so I had to get up and get another menu myself. They didn't bring us water, which I think is an expectation at an upscale restaurant. Never offered to refill our other beverages either, but once our food came out we never saw them again anyway. At first I thought they were understaffed, but we were there for HH on a Sunday, only half tables full in bar area and dining room was empty. At least 4-5 people on staff. While it took a long time to be seated, order, etc (I also had to flag someone down to ask for our bill), the food came out quickly and is the only reason this review made 3 stars. It was delish! Best thing we had was the shrimp from the HH menu. The bread and sauce were phenomenal. Skip the guac, only so so. The chicken skewers with peanut sauce was also yummy. read more
