I'm so glad I finally checked this place out. It's a great spot to have a nice meal and it was peaceful there, unlike the craziness that White Spot or Denny's can be like sometimes. It's really tucked into the corner of the strip mall so it's hard to miss but that's kind of the appeal too. Service was friendly and prompt. Breakfast was delicious and under $9 for eggs, sausage, hash brown toast and coffee. I really like how everything was prepared. I forgot to take a picture until after I had eaten half the plate. For all the kids out there that believe a joint has to have "locally sourced" eggs or the life story behind the chicken that laid them to make good breakfast - it's about the technique not the chicken's life story. The lady here can cook. She's got decent breakfast game for sure. Like someone else here wrote, hash browns were fried excellently, crispy on the top, without the rest being soggy. Eggs were cooked well, no yolk exploding all over the English muffin like you get at a lot of other places. One thing I noticed, the prices and the menu is disorganized. It's written out in chalk, and eggs Benedict was listed at 7.95 on special, except I got charged 8.95 (regular price), and then there was the "house special eggs benedict" for $12something. Price and quality still has White Spot and iHop beat though, so I don't really care. Just sayin', expect a jumbled menu. But at least you don't have to hear a forced spiel from the server about how "sustainable" the chickens they use are. Breakfast places are weird. You can go to a 4 or 5 star hotel, pay $20-30 for breakfast, and you'll never know what you're getting, and it has little to do with price (the most awful breakfasts' I've had were at Hiltons and Embassy Suites. Best eggs I've ever had were at the JW Marriot in Indian Wells). But a lot of these small businesses near hotels are super solid. This place is no exception. read more

I always passed by it on the way to the pet store, but had yet to go in and try it until today. My fiance and I went there for lunch, and it was busy. The little diner styled restaurant has comfortable chairs, inviting atmosphere, and friendly enough staff. We both ordered the Jimmy's special, grabbed some newspapers, and waited for our food. Twenty-five minutes later our food arrived. Not that it was a big issue, as it was lunch-time and very busy, but we were also very hungry. The food was pretty good. The burger had a nice beef patty, not dripping in condiments, and the bun was really tasty. The fries were pretty standard. One beef I had was while waiting for our food was a couple of business men came in, ordered, and got their food in less than 10 minutes. It arrived within minutes of getting my own burger. I found this place by looking up best burger spots in coquitlam. But now I eat there 3 times a week. There grilled onion burger is king! The Blackstone eggs benny is boss! Service is friendly and the food tastes clean and fresh. Oh yeah and no one makes better hash browns. Jimmy's has been a family favorite for the last five or six years. They have a wide selection of breakfast and lunch options, almost all of which we've tried have been good or better. I'll be honest, this is no 5-star Michelin Star restaurant, but the food is great for the prices (relatively cheap) and it's run by good people. Not great. Not cheap. Not the best. Not the worst. It's a counter order self service style diner that is open limited hours. Was busy and bright so it raised my expectations of the quality of food but when I saw plates with thin slices of ham oing by I adjusted my expectations accordingly . The wait for the food was on the long end of acceptable and the Black Stone Eggs Benedict was not as good as I've had at other breakfast spots. Cost almost $30 for breakfast and coffee for myself and my wife. Would hit it again in a pinch but not planning on making it a regular spot. read more

I love coming to Jimmy's Place. This is my favourite brunch place near my home. My favourite thing to order is the hash browns! They are always cooked to perfection and just the right crispiness! I usually order the 2 egg breakfast that comes with 2 pieces of toast, 2 eggs anyway you like and 2 sausage/ham/bacon or I will order the BELT (Bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato) This is a no frills kind of place. You place your order at the counter, then pick up your utensils and pick a seat. The only thing I wish it was open on Sundays. read more

Ever since moving to the Burquitlam area and learning about Jimmy's Place from friends, I can honestly admit that I eat brunch here every weekend. Their portions are very generous and are very well priced - under $10 for eggs, toast, sausage and hash browns! If you're looking to fill up until dinner, I would really recommend coming here. They also have bottomless coffee! I love how friendly their staff are, always saying good morning and have a great day every time you go in. The main lady who takes the orders will remember your favourite type of eggs, what bread you like for your toast, if you prefer bacon or sausage, etc. It truly feels like you've been taken back in time with such friendly service, retro looking booths, and fair prices. Truly a hidden gem of Coquitlam, tucked away from the main road and from the plaza parking lot! read more

I really want to like this place as it's literally right next to the hotel we stay at for work. Unfortunately the service is very slow, I got in there before 9am with the place being less than half full and most tables having their food already, and not getting my food until almost 25 minutes later. The food itself is just ok, I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon bits, Canadian bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes on top. Interestingly enough some bites had some flavor while others didn't. The accompanying hash browns had no flavor to them at all and were very bland. I also ordered a side of pancakes which were probably the best dish out of the three, although pancakes are hard to mess up, even though oddly they were the last thing to come out to my table. I'd give it 2.5 stars if possible and have been there twice, the first time I got an omelette and pancakes, in which the omelette was even pretty boring and tasteless. The food was sub-par and the service wasn't too great either. Although I'd rather go to an independent restaurant over a chain, Denny's has the place beat by a long shot. My work friends and I have come here a few times for lunch. We generally do find the food to be pretty good (with the exception of the chicken noodle soup which has way too many extra soggy huge veggie pieces). It is very consistent with what you expect from a diner. Nothing extraordinary and nothing terrible to say. There are three drawbacks to this place 1) The prices vary wildly. Some items are great prices eg: Grilled Ham and Cheese $4.50 I ordered was totally reasonable or the "Special Benny" (Benny with sautéed mushrooms and green onion on top) my coworker ordered $16.50, which seems fairly steep. This I noticed all across the board. The second thing is absolutely no flexibility. I wanted the chicken strips but not with french fries, I was told if I wanted a different side (I was asking for a salad) I would need to buy the full size $8.50 one. Seems kind of silly I even offered to pay a substitution fee but no dice. Lastly English is a real problem here. The lady who had been at the cashier station everytime we go in is so not helpful. If you have any questions she just nods her head having no idea what your talking about and it can be very frustrating. So in conclusion this place is not bad but it's not great either. read more

Had American money, they couldn't take it (at the time of this posting, the American dollar is worth 30% more than Canadian). Had a credit card and debit card from America, they couldn't take either (funny, both worked at every other Canadian store). Cash or Debit. I couldn't sub the eggs for hash browns, so I had to buy a portion of hash browns on the side. They were perfectly cooked. That was the only highlight from this visit. read more

For breakfast, you can't beat this place. The hashbrowns are to die for. We've been eating there for at least 15 years. Prices have gone up a bit, but still one of the best deals in town for a no-nonsense meal. Burgers are nice too, but we really value the breakfast. read more

This is my Go-To breakfast place, if you're looking for a hangover cure, look no further. The quality of it's food might be par, but it makes up with the quantity and it's value.
