We visited Jimmys while on a trip to Nags Head. We normally are not buffet people but we heard that this is a must do. If you love seafood this is an incredible value. The selection is phenomenal. It's a wonderful opportunity to try new and unique things. Everything that we tried was both fresh and delicious. Jake our waiter was beyond excellent. He explained everything and stopped often to check on us. There's a great selection of crab legs. Desserts were fantastic. When you consider all of the variety that you can choose from you would certainly pay far more in a sit down restaurant for that kind of selection. $55 per person. 50% of Table must get buffet. Alternative menu is only available if you ask, and there is only one copy per waiter. When we were there they were out of all hamburgers and pulled pork. Pretty Much anything under $30 per meal was unavailable. Bring a big wallet. Restaurant was. Not very clean and the buffet was out of 25% of the items. Not worth the $$$$. read more

Worth the wait! Went on a Wednesday and there was no shortage of crab, lobster etc. Didn't hear a peep out of the kids for nearly an hour, just shells breaking. Awful service from hostesses. Asked a question and one of them rolled their eyes and waked away. As some one who had already waited an hour and never lost my patience after being told 30 minutes. The price is higher than others in the area. And the owner takes an automatic 15% service fee. We come here for the crab legs. Save up plenty of stomach room. They keep the crab coming even if super crowded. This time we came for the lobster tail special. It was really good. Also don't usually do any kind of dessert but they had the biggest strawberries I have ever seen and they were delicious. This place was great the buffet had everything you could imagine on it. Seafood to southern cooking, to desserts and ice cream machine. The day we went for a up charge you could get all you could eat lobsters. A little pricey if you don't eat much. Get there early the place is very busy during the season. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences. I have never seen a buffet where the seafood was all cold. The only thing hot was the butter. Absolutely nasty. Who serves seafoo intentionally cold. Even worse was the amount they charged for the cold seafood. This is probably to make sure people don't eat much of it. They also charge 20.00 for a burger...a mediocre at best. So many choices of crab legs! Lobster claws, fried oysters oh so yummy! There was a slight wait but they had some music and lots of seating. The waitstaff was very attentive. Jimmy's has always been a good restaurant but I was disappointed that my son was there with a large group of friends and after they sat down, they were informed they would have to pay a 50% service charge. They had already went to buffet and grab food. Being young they did not know what to do and just took the charge. My son even left a smaller tip as he said he did not know what to do. Called me during meal pretty upset. The lesson is that you should ask before sitting down but $75 for meal for 17 year old is pretty tough pill to swallow. Please ask what the service charge at Jimmy's if you have a large group. We have eaten there as a family many times and never had this happen. I hope they were not taking advantage of young kids. NINE different types of steamed crab legs. Enough said. I've been an OBX vacationer for over a decade. This summer, I made a trip down to the beach with friends and they had talked for months about how we had to go visit Jimmy's buffet at least one of the nights that we were in town. As I entered the restaurant (which was packed), I knew I was in for a treat. The $29 price tag is a bit pricy, but once you try all the delicious crab legs, you forget all about it. The buffet boasts many other types of seafood as well: oysters, mussels, crab cakes, clams, blue crabs, etc. It also has kid-friendly and seafood-shy dishes such as steak, macaroni and cheese, fries, etc. Being a shellfish lover, I spent my entire time eating all the different varieties of crab legs. Five plates later, my friends and I waddled to our cars and headed home to dream about the crustaceans that now inhabited our bellies. Closed on Sundays, avoid Wednesday (busy). Soft serve ice cream & sweet tea were plus! Macaroni and cheese needs help. I found out about this place on a Sunday in the Outerbanks Food Magazine. I arrived around 8:15pm. The hostess was eating and said they are closed. The advertisement clearly says that on Sundays they closed at 9pm. She referred me to another restaurant or to come back early the next day. Big dissapointment read more

Ubered to Jimmys for the Saturday night AYCE whole main lobster and I will say it did not disappoint. We called in about 20 minutes before we got there to put our name on the list. When we got there we only waited maybe 5 minutes for a table! Perfect timing. Our server Joanna was awesome! She was so friendly, gave us great suggestions about getting the buffet and the lobster too. The lobsters are whole frozen Maine lobsters and when I read a negative review about that, I wonder what people expect for $30. But frozen or not they made my stomach happy. I ate three of them! I mean, it's lobster! If you want to pick your own fresh lobster out of tank at grocery store you will spend $30 on 1 by itself. And Joanna kept those lobsters coming until I said i couldn't eat any more! The boyfriend loved all the crab legs. They had an entire bar of different types. After all that lobster and butter my body was screaming give me veggies. And they have a ton of good things. The string beans were the best as well as cucumber and onion salad and of course a bowl of clam chowder which was super flavorful with big clam pieces. Joanna recommended a mixed drink to go with my meal which was fun, beachy, and sweet! And the meal had a perfect ending of peanut butter pie. All in all if you want to gorge yourself on seafood and don't want to spend a fortune then Jimmy's is the place to eat! They have website you can see what the buffet has before you go because it is too vast for a review. I can't imagine where any negative reviews come from.
