Food: very very good! They had 4 different types of crab legs, clams, mussels, calamari, several types of shrimp (fried and steamed), and a lot of fish! They also had side dishes however, I touched nothing since all I wanted was seafood. We also got a lobster tail with each adult buffet. You can never go wrong with AYCE anyway right? Service: superb. They came every couple minutes to empty our buckets of shells. Our water never ran out. Everyone was very friendly. The only thing I didn't really care for was how busy the restaurants was. Was a bit nervous eating at a buffet during COVID, but Jimmy's did it right. The tables were spaced nicely, there was physical separation, and a nice flow developed around the buffet. So many options! We loved all of the food! We went on a Wednesday when they had all the different crab legs and it was totally worth it.My only Complaint is that it was extremely hot inside.. and the bathrooms smelt horrible, like really bad, I almost threw up from the smell. Jimmy's Seafood Buffet is very good for the price. Everything was very good (crab legs, grilled tuna, lobster tails, hush puppies, steamed muscles & clams...) was tender and fresh. The quality and size of the seafood was also good and constantly being refilled. The only thing lacking was the scallops (actually skate plugs), which were lacking that real scallop flavor. It is worth the $29 you pay to eat here only for the novelty of eating at a seafood buffet teeming with crab legs, shrimp, scallops, clams, etc. Their miniature desserts were a yum too. I can understand where all the reviews from 1 to 5 are coming from. The place is a bit hot, but there is AC, but with the amount of people and the steaming dishes and food items of course it's going to be hot. That being said, the AC could either get turned to cooler, or could use an upgrade, but the temperature is certainly not unbearable. The buffet has a lot of options, including five types of crab legs (really the only thing I was interested in). I really enjoyed the snow crab legs, didn't try the others. Other items included clam casino, popcorn shrimp, salmon, etc. The place is a bit crowded and the tables are pretty close to one another, but hey what can you do. Also, despite other reviews claiming long waits, we got there at 7:30 on a Monday and there was no wait. Overall, when in a popular vacation location like OBX, and looking for a reasonably priced all you can eat crab legs buffet, this place is a solid choice. read more

Thanks for the reply. Our family has been coming to the OBX for two decades now and for the past 10+ years we've made it a point to eat at your restaurant. The pricing used to be the kids age plus a buck or two, which wasn't outrageous. Now it's $65.99 no matter the age and we asked for a menu and your waitress said "we are a buffet style restaurant only". Needless to say Captain G's accommodated our party of 11 with more selection at your old pricing and in a fraction of the time. Hope you guys don't lose focus on what made your restaurant a must every year for families on vacation. read more

Disappointed. I had very high hopes based on the advertisements that I had seen. There was a very large variety of seafood and it was just OK. The place was about 85 degrees inside because they had no air conditioning, it was broken. I wish they had told us this before waiting outside in the heat for an hour and we might have made a different decision. We were unable to enjoy our meal due to the heat and very crowded room. I would have rather had a nice dinner somewhere else for that price. On the positive side, there was a lot of variety offered from crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, crawfish, scallops, and various fresh cuts of fish. Because it's cooked in such large quantities, the quality suffers a bit. I probably wont return. There's a lot better seafood on the island. read more

First off, our server Casey was awesome! We are on vacation here in OBX and drive 45 min. To get to Jimmy's from our vacation home. We expected a line and when we got there there was about 20 ppl. In line. The line went quick and we got inside. All of the staff was very pleasant. What amazed me was that even though the restaurant was full, staff kept all of the food bins full including the crabs. A couple of times the crabs were overcooked and dry but the majority were delicious. We will be back next year! read more

My family ordered a giant variety of takeout seafood from Jimmy's. It was all very good! Great portion sizes for a crowd on vacation. The shrimp was big and fresh, the clams and mussels were cooked perfectly, the lobster tails were sweet, and the crab legs were my favorite. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the hush puppies were super dry and cold. Not a big problem though since we ordered from here for the seafood. Overall it was hit for our family. Greta place to eat seafood in the obx. We go here every year when we are on our vacation. The new system for getting your name on the list was a lot faster and better than having to wait hours to get in like before. Added seating outside was also a plus.
