Crew was amazing as a waiter!!!! He made the experience enjoyable and fun! The food was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! I can not say enough good things about the food! The wait was a little long but Yell app makes that easy! The establishment is NOT big enough at all. That does make it a little unflattering. So every year we go to captain George's when we come to the beach but this year we wanted to try something different and even after reading a lot Of mixed reviews several friends said definitely try Jimmys.... we went and the best thing I can say is the our waitress was nice.... over cooked crab legs, shrimp and lobster claws (all were like rubber) and if it was fried such as oysters or coconut shrimp it was burnt... other reviewers also posted about being hot in the restaurant but we didn't have that problem as we were seated right next to a box fan that was placed in the door ways of the bathroom so it was nice and cool along with the smell of crap..... sorry but we will say with captain George's from now on. read more

Party of 7, 2 hungry teenage boys, 2 early teens girls and 3 adults. We called ahead for a 5pm arrival which worked out well for us. We were seated within 15 minutes of arriving. We were offered outside seating, but declined b/c we didn't have full shade. We were seated about 10 feet from the buffet, which worked well, but certainly makes for a busy crossroads, but that was fine w/us. Our server Kacie was awesome! Very friendly and accommodating for everyone at the table, she certainly earned her 20%+ tip and I was happy to give it to her. Most everyone at our table ate crab legs, crab legs and more crag legs!! They offered 10 different types, Opellio, Alaskan, Stone, Argentinian... I don't recall all of them, but I stuck w/the Alaskan which served me well! I also ate steamed mussels, clams and fried oysters. After 4 plates of legs (2-3 clusters per plate) and 1 plate each of mussels & clams my hunger for my vacation seafood dinner was satisfied! Everyone in my party seemed to be very pleased with their experience at Jimmy's and Kacie contributed to such a great experience, THANK YOU KACIE!!! I highly recommend a 5pm call ahead if you can do it. Jimmy's is one of my favorite places to eat when I am in OBX. The food is always good and the wait staff always goes over and above. However, on my last visit to Jimmy's (6/12) the hostess was below par. Not sure who or how many was in charge of seating but our group of a mere 8 people couldn't be seated under less than two hours and forty-five minutes. The hostess kept putting smaller groups ahead of larger groups despite the order in which people arrived. After watching this happen several times this was pointed out to the hostess and we were seated almost immediately. read more

Oh my God...we ate for 2 hours!!!! Wonderful selection of seafood! We arrived on a Wednesday at 4 pm and the place was packed...always a good sign! Here's the story on this popular buffet in a nutshell: 1) YOU WILL WAIT! Expect at least a 20-30 minute wait unless you show up an hour before the doors open. There are beers and mixed frozen drinks available to ease the pain of waiting, with several cornhole courts in the back to pass the time (try to enjoy it in 90-plus-degree heat ... no way). 2) The place is cramped. You will sit on molded plastic porch chairs, which can be uncomfortable and a bit wobbly for those larger in size. Expect to get bumped by buffet-goers and passers-by at least 2-3 times, and hope they don't spill things onto you. 3) First saving grace: The amount and variety of crab! Jimmy's has at least 5 types of crab, including Dungeness, Alaskian Snow, Stone Crab Claws, Blue Crab ... it's a variety. And they are plentiful. Great Crab Bisque too. Pass on the buffet standards and load up on crab, and get yourself a bowl of butter and Old Bay spice for dipping. 4) Second Saving Grace: We had an amazing waiter, who was constantly emptying crab shell bowls and keeping glasses full of beer/soda. Our bill was the same as it was the evening before when the four of us went to a really good seafood place and shared a bottle of wine and ate actual good food. Oh and still left with a full stomach. So this buffet, High school kids deep frying the worst looking food I have ever seen. I live in Ohio and I can find better seafood here then at this place. Most of the trays were half empty or just had some scraps in them. The scallops, shrimp and other items were small little guys. The salmon was terrible and over cooked. The crab legs were small and thin. The non seafood items were worse then some frozen dinners. They hide the buffet area in the back of the place so you don't see it, if you did you would walk out. I wish I had walked back there before we were seated, I would have walked out. The other red flag was the guy writing down plate numbers as patrons parked their cars. If enough people walk out on the bill that they need to do this, it's got to be bad. People are stuffed in so this place can rake in as much money as possible, yet the buffet is small and overlooked with some rollout carts holding the food. Do not eat here, so not stop here, do not think about it. You are next to the ocean, go to a real place and get a real meal that you will enjoy and remember for being good, not for being the worst place you have ever eaten at. The 30 minute wait at Jimmy's on Wednesday night before the OBX high season has got to be one of the most mind-boggling things I've ever seen. I have fonder memories of my high school cafeteria. We had 7 adults in our party, and it was a unanimous 1 star. The best thing about Jimmy's is all the jokes we're able to crack about it for the remainder of our vacation. To be completely clear, we just got back to our house an hour ago and 3 folks in our group are getting pizza right now because they had so little to eat at Jimmy's. It seems like most high ratings rave about the crab legs and variety of crab - I will say, the crab legs were fine. Small, but otherwise pretty average. The crab claws I tried were disgusting - the meat inside was a deathly color. Otherwise, I tried a lot of different things assuming I would find something decent, and I have to say, the only things I tried that didn't suck were the ham, chicken fingers, and fried shrimp. And the place was just not clean. If I could give 0 stars I would. If this were a $10 buffet, I'd be OK with giving it the whole 1 star. But it's a $30 buffet. If you really have a burning desire to waste $30 on crappy food, just go to the grocery store, and grab $30 of random foods out of the frozen food aisle. We were there on a Saturday night in May with a party of 12. The restaurant was busy but we were seated almost immediately. My main reason for going was the "all you can eat" lobster. The lobster was good, but not the best I've ever had, a little overcooked, but heck, what do you expect for "all you can eat"? The buffet was well stocked and looked fresh. I had some Alaskan King Crab legs and they were some of the best I've ever had! I didn't sample other buffet items because I was really there for the lobster and crab legs. This place gets two stars for two reasons. 1. There is no zero star option, and i believe it is a hair better then zero stars (so with one star being a zero, this place recieves 2 stars) 2. They have all you can eat crab legs for a fairly cheap price, especially if you get the king crab and they were not even bad. also I did not have to wait in line as i went in the offseason (october), if i did it may have only gotten one star. Now for the bad, They get you all amped up to go there with all their advertising, everythign on the menu sounds and looks good, when you walk in the front door you are imediatly depressed as the place looks like an absolute hole with filthy floors, decor, etc. The service is ok (for a buffet) but if you are not are cheap crab leg loving pheen, then this is NOT the place for you. Seen a lot of not so favorable reviews, But I'm here to tell you that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Jimmy's. It's not fancy it's not glitzy, it's not brand-new, it's just an old-fashioned buffet. Lots of great items you name it they had it on the buffet scallops, shrimp, jumbo crab legs, calamari, crawl fish, salmon, tuna steaks, clams, crab cakes, crab bisque, Stone crab claws, muscles, lobster mac & cheese, crab dip to name a few. They also had some non-seafood like pulled pork, steak, vegetables salad bar and dessert bar. Joanna our server provided us with top-notch service and looking around watching the staff was out a lot replenishing and updating the buffet items as needed. Quality of the food was good fresh and cooked just right. My wife made the commented that the whole lobster was a very meaty and a good size not what we expected but very pleasantly surprised for all you could eat nite. Place was clean and very well organized and the value for what you got was really good. A must stop if you're in the seafood in mass quantity with good quality. Not a fan in the least. We went on a crowded Saturday night and somehow the food was still cold. I understand its a buffet but for $31 per person I expected a decent meal. The cheese sticks and marinara sauce were the only edible item other than the salad. I cracked three different crawfish only to find they had not been allowed to clean and there was still waste in them. The only saving grace I found was the staff. They made the experience bearable. Went to Jimmy's on Friday night. There were having all you can eat lobster tails until 5:00 PM. The only problem was this place opened at 4:00 PM. there was a large crowd outside but no one knew where the end of the line was. A sign on the door said send one person in your party to sign in. When we went inside we were told someone would be out to take our names. When they came out they started to call people, but no one took any names. When we finally got our names on the list we were told it was going to be 1 1/2 wait. Then they came out and called some more names and the names they called were people who had showed up after us, and they crown was upset. They needed to have someone outside so when people showed up they could put there names on the list as they showed up. Plus the price of $52 did not help either. read more

Awesome experience here! I came with my girlfriend, and in spite of the crowd, we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks (on a buy 2 get one free special, no less, for all of the tropical ones), and went to the buffet. The buffet was wonderful. I didn't end up trying much of the fried seafood or other options, as I attacked the shrimp, crab legs, and clams with a vengeance.
