Most of the restroom stalls were OOO and the open ones were full; all the urinals were plugged and overflowing, and the floor was covered in water. My sister and I were on a road trip looking for a stretch break and breakfast. We went out on a limb to try this diner and were pleasantly surprised! Our waitress was very kind and service was fast! We ordered pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns and toast for under 15 dollars! You cannot beat the prices. The plate pictures below was 5.99. Our food was hot, fresh and delicious! My sister said that the pancakes were better than Ihop (and she is serious about her pancakes!). The typical trucker stop outside is a little off putting but lemme tell ya- the food and service are FANTASTIC! Our server Sherry was so kind and accommodating & the food comes in these huge portions. I usually eat my whole plate when I go out, and this huge helping had me strugglin' to finish! The only complaint is that the bathroom is gross so I'm taking one star off for cleanliness- but hey, it's a truck stop. Entered hangry & skeptical. Left full and happy. Okay, I know when most people hear Truck Stop restaurant, they think of greasy food, dirty tables, or just a nasty place that only truck drivers stop at just of the interstate. True Jim's is of the thruway, but that's it. The restaurant is decent, they do offer an enclosed room for those who wish to remove days off their life by smoking. They offer a nice salad/soup bar that is always fresh and stocked. The menu prices are a steal for the portions they give on most of the plates. Just look at the 3 egg 3 meat filled omelette! Can you say "Watch out for that flying pants button", from it exploding off your pants as your stomach expands from all the goodness! My wife and I frequent Jim's at least once a month. How do you make Jim's Truck Stop? You tell Jim to put his damn foot on the brakes that's how! We're really lucky to have this wonderful truck stop right in the middle of Cheektowaga. The service often leaves something to be desired and the fact that there is a smoking room is annoying (I guess not annoying if you're a smoker, but hey), because the whole diner smells just ever so slightly of smoke because of that. However I don't go to truck stops for ambience or amazing cute waitresses that flirt with me endlessly and give me free sodas. Although I wouldn't complain at all if all that happened at a truck stop. What to get: Ham Dinner. The reason I come here is for excellent, filling and generous home cooked food, at incredibly bargain basement prices, served 24 hours a day, in a little spot just near the very-popular Alton's, and yet not even half as popular and never anywhere near as busy. It's a lot more run down, maybe that's why... but the diner food is actually better (Altons' Chicken Souvlaki notwithstanding). As far as truck stops go, this is a good one... the bathrooms can be pretty awful but they have nice showers for truckers, and the food is brilliant and dirt cheap, and there are cool maps all over the walls. And it's RIGHT off the Walden Ave (East) exit of the I-90. And it's at a non-toll exit too so if you want to avoid a toll this is the place to come. I've had the country fried steak (excellent) and the roast beef and beef tips (good), but the star of the show is the delicious Ham Dinner. It's actually one of the better ham dinners I've had anywhere in America. The ham steak is enormous, and the brown gravy (or white) you can get all over it just adds to the deliciousness. I always get mine without pineapple. The mashed potatoes are okay, the salad is good, but the ham is an absolute star, and it's juicy, hot, thick, huge, and very very filling. It's like eating a steak, only ham. It's more like a huge gammon. I'm totally enamoured with the Ham Dinner here. Get one, and see for yourself. Oh, and did I mention that every single one of these dinner platters which include salads, are under $10? In fact I think some of them are under $8. One of the only restaurants in New York left where you can still smoke inside. I'm not quite sure how they get away with it, but they have a special room inside where cigarette after cigarette is lit up and you get waited on as well. As for the service -- it's a divey diner so expect it to be a little gritty, but I haven't had any issues. If you like the grit and the smokey atmosphere then this place is probably right up your alley. As for the food, it's delightful, greasy and cheap. Steak, eggs and home fries -- all under $10. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage AND french toast -- all for under $6. It's remarkable. The eggs were cooked to order perfectly and the french toast seemed fluffy, picturesque and well done. I didn't get the "real" maple syrup stuff here, but at these prices..what can I really expect? It''s a truck plaza, so expect to see a lot of older drivers and people who already know each other sitting around and smoking. As such, if you come alone -- it may be a little uncomfortable, but don't be afraid to strike up a conversation. I did and learned a thing or two I would have never otherwise known. In true truck-stop diner fashion, my husband went with the open-faced meatloaf and fries. I had the mushroom omelet, no cheese, and opted for the pancakes side to pass to my carbo-loading husband. We both added the soup and salad bar side, which is just $4.99 for AYCE. It is a cute little salad bar that is fully satisfying, with all of the fresh basics, plus some extras like garbanzo beans, chopped eggs, and banana peppers. The soup of the day was chicken noodle, which my husband tried. He said it had a tasty classic heartiness. As for our entrees, the hubbs said the gravy was good on his meatloaf, but the loaf itself was a bit dry, and the fries just basic. But he thoroughly enjoyed his multiple trips to the salad bar. My omelet wasn't huge, but was pretty tasty. It didn't seem like fresh cracked eggs, but the eggs were still fluffy layers around fresh mushrooms, still yummy. This is one of the worst run businesses I have ever worked at. There is no discipline for employees who no call no show or don't do their work during their shifts the manager skims hours off of employee paychecks, which I learned is known around the restaurant for being a normal occurrence. They fired my boyfriend without cause, when he was out with the flu type A, using excuses and accusing him of things he never did. I would never recommend employment at this establishment due to the fishy practices we have experienced. Most of the food is microwaved, people handle garbage and then make food without washing their hands. There is no communication or problem solving from management so the place continues to go downhill. They were even talked to by the police because they were using sketchy pictures of young children on their sign telling people to stop on in. read more

Do the staff call me honey because that's what they think I expect, or because Jim's truck stop, convenience store, and family restaurant is just -that- old school? The smoking room suggests that Jim's is the genuine article, and their country smoked ham omelette agrees. Mine was a quick, in-and-out kind of affair; I hadn't realized I was starving until I stopped in to use the ATM and smelled the food. The woman who took my order was friendly, and when I asked if it wasn't too late for omelettes told me "It's never too late for omelettes" which is the best answer ever. Said omelette came with home fries and toast, which were fine, but had nothing on how good this omelette was. Honestly there was so much ham I silently wondered how many pigs gave their lives for this - not to mention all the cheese! Living downstate, I often forget how far $7 can stretch, and boy was this a prime and generous example. Not to mention a delicious one! Just like the truck stop omelettes of my boyhood - I seriously had a Ratatouille moment. As for the eggs they did cook them to my request....bacon was decent, salty and tasty..... I also got the homefries with onion....Nothing fancy here.....No herbs or spices in them but they were cooked just right.....On the greasy side as well..... I also got apple juice, and it tasted like there was bleach in it.....This also happened at another restaurant I go to sometimes - "Uncle Joe's Diner" in Hamburg on Southwestern....Not sure if they have the same juice machine, and they are not rinsing it out after cleaning or what....But there was definitely a heavy bleach taste to it...... Also you can have your choice of tunes to listen to....Over the main speakers in the dining room I remember one time hearing Peter Frampton while at the same time and same volume level I could hear "Back in Black"...The ac/dc was coming out of the kitchen.... First, let me start off by saying I was extremely disappointed from the moment we walked in the door. My friend & I were not properly greeted when we stepped in the door. We were told to sit anywhere that wasn't dirty. ( We should have left at that moment but we didn't). We both ordered the steak breakfast. My breakfast came with a 8 ounce steak, cubed hash brown and 2 slices of toast. The steak was suppose to be medium rare but it was over cooked, the hash brown was under cooked but the toast was perfect. My friend steak was over cooked, the eggs were over cooked to the point that they were crunchy but again the toast was perfect. Smh. The waiter was very uninterested in making sure we pleased with our service or meal. I will NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone. My husband was hungry at 1 am in the morning & we were trying to get some fast food other than the usual McDonald's. We always drove pass the resturant/diner and were curious to check it out. After a total nightmare at IHOP we went to Jim's. The food was absolutely amazing as well as our waitress. I personally had the turkey dinner and it came out on 2 plates!! Fresh, savory and delicious. We actually had enough food left for 2 more servings. The double bbq bacon burgers with French fries were enjoyed by two others and the chicken fingers and fries were good as well. My grandson had a pancake and they even put a smiley face on it for him with whipped cream. This was so sweet and appreciated after our IHOP nightmare. The steak was poor quality. No blood at all I asked for medium rare. The oil used in the food was the same as dennys and the rez restaurant. The worst! I couldnt even eat the potatoes which is usually the best part. The eggs werent cooked enough(maybe without cover)had the white clear snot like texture I asked for medium. Whoa, a truck stop diner with awesome food and service? We have a winner! Earlier in the morning, we were left seated at an IHOP, waiting for our waitress to take our order. It wasn't super busy, but the IHOP had an atmosphere of being completely disorganized. After a 20 minute wait, we left and drove down to Jim's. We arrived at 11:15am - this is a place where you seat yourself - it's a retro diner with booths. There's even a smoker's section partitioned off behind their own glass, so they can hotbox their room if they want!:) Our waitress gave us our menus and we immediately noticed that the omelettes were half the price of IHOPs. I ordered a kolbassa omelette which came with a side of pancakes. $6.99. By 11:20am (5 minutes later!!!), she brought our plates out. The omelettes were smaller than IHOPs or Denny's but not by much. My omelette was tasty, hot, fresh with probably a half kolbassa diced with onions. The pancakes were really nice and fluffy. Our waitress kept the coffee coming, so after a morning where we were ignored by our IHOP waitress, we tipped generously because this lady made our day! We will definitely be back! read more

I went in for lunch and had a nice bacon burger with which appeared to be steak fries. I happened to look at their breakfast menu and man they have omelets to pancakes which looks really nice. Being here in Buffalo now while being in Georgia half of my life, it's hard getting used to the so-called sweet tea. It's not the same and it's hard to even explain. Just like when I went to Philly.Their sweet tea was a raspberry sweet tea. It's just different when you're up north. Here it tastes like it could be some sort of a soda mix but they claim it's probably all of the lemon. It's definitely a major difference to all of the Georgia folks, TRUST ME!!! Now to explain myself about the "regular Jim's". Here there's another Jim's that only specializes in different types of sandwiches, mainly hoagies. From steak and cheese to pretty much whatever is on their menu. However, remember it's hoagies only from what I understand.
