I love Jim's. I go to this Jim's for breakfast (late brunch) on the weekends, and late dinner/early breakfast on the week days. I cannot say how grateful I am for a 24 hour open restaurant with great service which comes to refill your coffee even after they have given you the receipt. I LOVE the chicken tortille soup, and it's usually what I get. Yes, every single time. I like the sandwiches over the burgers, but both are great. My favorites are the unqiue items on the menu, Frontier anything! I cannot recommend enough as a great place to talk, study, or just have food that is decently priced at any time of the day. read more

Classic American diner. If you're looking for some bacon, eggs & hash browns for a quick breakfast or a late night steak this is a great spot to hit up. Their milkshakes are some of the best around and become quite addictive when you're staying in the hotel right next door! Evil! :) No complaints about this place. They've fudged our orders a couple times but have always made it right. Tho I still can't tell if the waitress I spoke to about it was being genuine about her apology or being sarcastic. Example: I ordered a couple milkshakes to take back to our hotel room at 1am and didn't notice until I was back in the room that they forgot straws. No big deal but when I went back to ask for 2 straws I was handed a fist full of them and she made a strange remark to me about "now you have extras for the next time you come back". Weird. She may have just been joking but it was hard to tell. All in all a good diner. No real complaints. One word-DIRTY. In the few times we've come here it's just clear that this location is in disrepair and is also not kept up. Tables and dishes are grimy, there are things floating in drinks, there are water stains all over the ceiling. Don't sit in the very back if at all possible. It's just plain disgusting. We always get seated fast and the staff is very friendly! Vincent (at nights) is exceptional. They are usually staffed right at this location making wait times very minimal. The trainer ignored me, walked passed me 5 times, once with a stack of cups in her hand so I know she wasn't helping no one. My waitress didn't asked how was our food until she dropped off the check. We are heading to Eagle Pass. Stopped here at about 3 am. There is NOTHING between here and there to eat. And, not much there either. At this time of morning there was hardly anyone in the place. eerily quite, creepy quite then this booming friendly voice, good morning, glad to have you just sit where ever you want and I'm on my way with coffee. Jim's is classic old San Antonio. There is nothing fancy or modern about Jim's. I has a charm of the past, but the food is pretty much from that era as well. I had grilled talapia dish and yes, I know what you're saying..."Isn't this more of a diner?" It is, and yes, I was silly to order such a dish. But Jim's no fan of pescatarians/vegetarians...there wasn't much else I could order (fish sandwich, but I wanted a hot dinner plate). I bet Jim's is great at 2am when everything else is closed. We stopped by for a late dinner tonight and I have to admit it wasn't a good decision. Our food took forever to come out and then it was incorrect. The onion rings were uncooked, our food had tomato after we ordered without. My husbands steak was really undercooked. There were so many empty tables... and we still managed to get sat at a dirty one. The wait staff was friendly but that doesn't make up for long wait times and uncooked food. We frequently eat at Jim's but after our experience tonight I don't think we will return. This is the best diner experience I've had in Alamo City. The waitress Krista is amazing! We literally did not have to ask for a thing... she was so attentive and proactive during the time we ate. We love this Jim's ! Eating breakfast with the family. The Rustlers Roundup is great and my personal favorite are the Migas. I personally like their Hot Cakes better than I -Hop. I cant help but love jims. It reminds me of a truck stop diner in the 90s. The food is greasy sloppy and delicious. Its not a 5 star 3 course meal joint bit if you are in the mood for some biscuits and gravy or an awesome pancake this is the best place in town to get it. Ramey is an exuberant individual who's full of charisma, probably a really great person. Ramey however is a large, robust individual who's body frame is not conducive to working as a server in this establishment's small aisles. I kept getting hit over and over again by his waistline as he serviced his section. It literally happened 5-6 times before he offered a half ass apology. I couldn't enjoy my meal since the only chair, out of the "danger zone", was directly in front of a window...this window had a copious amount of sunlight streaming in making it almost unbearable. Burnt, as in black and crispy, toast, bacon which was nothing but "fat" and a $30 bill for 3 make this a horrible way to start off my weekend. I came in for a late breakfast this morning and decided to sit at the bar. Quick and easy. Stephanie was my server and was prompt and very personable. I had the cereal special this morning with grits and fresh fruit. Both were excellent, the grits were very fresh and hot, creamy and free of lumps, thanks. The fruit was a mix of grapes, melon, strawberries, and banana. All fresh and crisp. The coffee was nice and hot as well, thank you for a great visit today. read more

I wanna say service was bad but service was non existent when I went one midnight after work with my fiancé. Had no waiter for 20+ minutes but employees would eye us with no attempt to service us. After a while they came for our drink order but just placed our waters on the table and walked off without a word or to ask if we were ready for our food order. Usually a great place to eat but has slowly gone down hill. It's one thing to be busy and or understaffed, which is understandable. But being ignored and unprioritized (which is very rude) i will not be returning. read more

Side note: I've never been to Jims, and this experience has completely ruined it for me. I will never step foot in this facility, and will tell everyone to never visit. I'm not being dramatic... because what took place was totally unacceptable. My boyfriend and I were doordashers, and had to pick up an order here at this location. The manager told us everything was there in the bag and ready to go. Once we picked it up, and dropped it off with the customer (2 miles away), the customer complained the food was cold, and the soup was missing. The customer then requested for fresh food, since we'd be doing another trip back to fix it. Not only that...but the manager didn't close the gravy container right, and it split ALL OVER ME and burned me really bad. We called the location and spoke to the "manager" (Chrissy)We kindly requested for fresh food, and the soups in return for the old ones. She was sooo rude, and yelled at us through the phone. She absolutely REFUSED to make a new plate, even though we were returning the old one due to it being cold. She was sarcastic, and had a disgusting tone and behavior. I have never been so disrespected from a restaurant "manager"ever. I simply told her," if I was a customer sitting down to eat and didn't like my food, you'd take it back and make me a new plate. What's the difference now?" She continued being sarcastic, and kept repeating the same thing as if I was tone deaf. She also kept interrupting me as I was trying to explain my situation. She does NOT deserve the position she's in right now. If She worked with me, I would fire her on the spot if she was ever rude to my clients the way she was to me. After I talked in person to the real manager, it turns out that lady was pretending to be the manager through the phone the whole time. NEVER will I step foot in this facility. Went to this location around 11pm and it was moderately busy, but not too much to handle. Most of the empty tables weren't cleaned and reset so the person I was with and I helped ourselves to a large booth in the back corner of the store. The waiter who was in charge of our area never showed so we waited a while until Vincent showed up and took over. Let me say Vincent was an EXCELLENT waiter with great personality so no problems there whatsoever! The only remaining problems were the silverware that were given to us looked disgustingly unwashed and the coffee didn't taste as well as it does at other locations. I can't believe it! I've heard of horror stories of things floating in drinks or in food but I never thought it would happen to me. My wife and I stopped at Jims off I10 to eat early in the morning. We had just ordered our food and as I sipped on my water I noticed something dark in my ice. I pulled the ice out and it was a roach imbedded in the ice. The host on duty just said he was sorry about that . My wife and I just got up and left. This means that if there is one in the ice there everywhere in the restaurant. He could of offered something for my discuss instead of laughing about it as we left. talk bout eating at your own risk not this guy not at Jims ever again and this sucks because the food was good!!!! read more

Diet Pepsi tasted rancid. The burger had way too much lettuce and mayo. The bun was soaked in mayo.The plate was too small. Half my fries fell of the plate onto the table and I wasn't going to eat them off the table. Terrible experience. read more

The burgers were good and very cheap, compared to other diners that I've been too. Service was marginal, not great, but not horrible. The only reason I don't give this place five stars is that it is kind of dirty. For example, it looks like they don't vacuum that often and you can tell big time when you walk in as there is a lot of leftover food on the floor. First off our waiter is Coker's out of her mind. We walk in to read a sign that says "please wait to be seated" then the hostess goes oh you can seat yourself... we sit down and wait for 15 minutes before I finally stand up and talk to the hostess, and she says oh I will send the waitress right over. 5 minutes go by and the hostess walks up and explains that the waitress is extremely hyper and that we should go somewhere else to eat to get better service.. I look over at the cracked out waitress, and she gives me a tweaked out look and we instantly get up and walk out. Then the lady next to us goes "good idea" and she walks out as well.
