You can pick between having lots of melty cheese on top for only $3 extra dollars or not! I mean for $3 extra, Jin Cook makes it rain cheese and they torch it at your table which is an amazing sight to see! The soy braised beef short rib was amazingly flavorful and tender with every bite! Even the pieces on the bone were tenderly soft. I enjoyed how they added bite sized carrots, potatoes, pumpkin and rice cakes to really bring out the flavors of the braising liquid. It hit the spot! Jin Cook is located in Buena Park with plenty of parking and the wait is reasonable. The service is amazing and it's a true family affair with mother, sons and aunties all working together to bring your delicious authentic Korean cuisine. My husband and I are a bit tired of over crowded Ktown scene, so we drive extra few miles to Buena Park for Korean food. This place isn't most convenient for us as it's not too close to the freeway, but we like how friendly everyone is here and the variety of food they offer. One thing I'd point out to manage your expectation is their mention of authentic food by their name. They say Authentic Korean Soul Food, not necessarily authentic/traditional Korean food - I think there is a distinction between the two. Some of the menu items are definitely more traditional (like seol lung tang) than others (like katsu and curry). If you like the variety of traditional and non-traditional Korean food with some more modern twist, like adding cheese to your dish, etc. this place will work well for you. The waitstaff constantly goes around the restaurant checking on every table, making sure all the banchans are filled, if you request for more. They definitely make you feel very cared for. read more

This spot has become one of our favorite places for late-night Korean comfort food in Buena Park. We finally tried the braised short ribs, and they were incredible! It was a cold day and we wanted to take our parents to something no one had tried before. So 6 of us arrived on a Sunday for lunch. When we came they wanted everyone there before they allowed us to sit. Once seated we got seated they brought out all the sides. We also asked for hot water which they brought out their hot barley tea which I liked. For lunch we got the following and their descriptions: Seafood Pancake- Probably the best seafood pancake I've ever had and I have experienced a lot of seafood pancakes before. It was crispy and thick with lots of seafood and green onions. Flavorful and yummy. A portion fed all 6 of us and we killed it. Bulgogi Bibimbab Hot Stone- This was pretty good. It included rice, veggies, kimchi, bulgogi, fried egg and rice. It was flavorful and everyone liked it. Spicy Tofu Seafood Soup- This broth was really good. I recommend it if you want tofu soup. You can also get it with beef instead of seafood and with an egg. Marinated Dumpling- These were seasoned fried dumplings tossed in a soy glaze sauce. It was good but nothing too crazy. We probably could have done without these although I don't regret having them. Boo Dae Jji Gae- (military soup) This is what I came here for. The flavorful broth included ramen, spam, ham, rice cake and veggies. I wish it had more goodies in it but it was still good. A portion is individual size. Mushroom Japchae- This was sautee glass noodles with mushrooms and truffle oil. It's a great option for vegetarians. It was flavorful and also good but nothing a star item in my opinion. Expect to pay about $20-$25 per person. I thought this place was super affordable to other restaurants that are similar. The service was pretty good. They were helpful with recommendations and made sure we got just the right amount of food. We barely had any left overs and were all satisfied. The inside is very casual and the restaurant is a little smaller so I can see that it can have a wait. But definitely a great Korean comfort spot and I can see us coming back. read more

Suyuk is paired with garlic chives and the sauce they serve with it really add tons of flavor to the dish. The tteokbokki is nice and spicy and the rice cakes are perfectly cooked! My group of 5 ordered a bunch of dishes to share. Every dish is ginormous so I highly suggestion splitting and sharing everything. We ended up ordering: Katsu, Spicy Braised Beef Short Rib with Cheese, and Garlic Su Yuk (and some rice of course). It was just the right amount of food. Everything was delicious! The food was flavorful and all the meat was juicy. Truly loved all these dishes but I would say my favorite was the Garlic Su Yuk, followed by the Spicy Braised Short Rib, and the Katsu last. BUT I have to say, since it's our first time we wanted to try out one entree for each of us which the dishes we ordered were BULGOGI BIBIMBAP HOT STONE and the SPICY TOFU SOUP.....every bit left us in awe....I kept doing my traditional whispers to myself, indulging in every bite as my eyes were closed saying "damn that's really good!" The sides tasted amazing as well! I believe we had 3 refills on the cucumbers! SERVICE & ENVIRONMENT Despite that mishap with skipping us on taking our order, the service was great and very attentive. If we needed refills, we got the refills. On top of that they gave us a pot of tea which was really nice and quite delicious as well, especially after consuming everything, it's the cherry on top. The environment looks rather small but it's actually spacious and has a nice interior design touch to the place! OVERALL Parking is friendly, we did going on the weekend during the afternoon and there was plenty of parking. Consider the wait time, if they have the ability of joining the waitlist through Yelp then definitely do that if you're starving but if not, then keep in mind that the wait time could be a bit long but worth the wait! The service is great and the food is scrumptious. Our must-have item we order every time we come here is the Truffle Mushroom Japchae. It does not have an overwhelmingly truffle taste (which is a bonus), lots of mushrooms and the japchae is just perfect. We met one of the owner's (the son) who actually created the truffle mushroom japchae dish and told us how this item came to fruition at the restaurant. He was so nice and super friendly. We try to order other items every time we come here and so far another favorite is the Jalapeno Cheese Katsu Curry. The panko on the katsu has that perfect crunch, along with the cheesy, meaty pocket. I have to say that we were blown away by this restaurant. The food is reasonably priced. The service is top notch, it exceeded our expectations with extremely friendly, engaging and helpful staff. Hot Stone is a must. We ordered the Brisket Hot Pot and it came sizzling for a good portion of the meal. The rice at the bottom is crusted and crispy. The flavors are balanced and adding the garlic spinach and kimchi to the bowl makes it even tastier. She ordered a beef tofu stew which was good but not spicy enough. Not sure if they have spice level for the soft tofu stew but if you like spicy, you should definitely ask. They're short handed during Thanksgiving week but the meal was still fast and delicious. Had dinner here for a friend's birthday. Just want to start it off and say the food is crazy good. I was so stunned when I had that brisket and sprouts fried rice in a clay pot. It was so flavorful and savory. The fat on the meat made the dish taste buttery. All the ingredients in the that dish fitted well. We all killed it for sure. We also ordered the Galbi short ribs with those small thick noodles (forgot the actual name). The meat was very tender and flavorful. Each bite was juicy. The service was alright, nothing special.
