I am blown away by the level of us professionalism at this place. I love their pizza, I support local whenever possible, I've easily spent way more at this establishment in the past year than any place in Charleston, and sent many people their way. I called an hour before they closed, tried to order a few slices, and was told that they were out of slices. I said, no worries, I'll call right back. The gentlemen on the phone said, you'll be the last order. I called back in literally 60 seconds, was put on hold for three minutes, then hung up on. I called back, he answered and told me they were no longer accepting orders. when I explained I was he guy who called in about the slices he said, yeah sorry you hung up. A neat little place that many do not know is here. When I moved to this end of Johns Island about a year ago, I decided that my move and my efforts in relocating deserved a pizza. Man...the size (and taste) of them. A small will feed one person for over two meals. Trust me, I know! For those who love meat on their pizzas, then you need to try the Carnivore....sausage, bacon, ham...you name it. Only problem is---No delivery. Order over the phone and pick it up. W took seven kids to JI pizza after spending several hours at Beachwalker Park on Kiawah. We ordered the large 24" pizza and an 18" pizza. Seven kids and two adults were starving, and it didn't disappoint. We ordered immediately and waited not too terribly long for our pizza to come out pipping hot. The crust was perfect, crispy and not On the thick side. I should have asked for some Sauce on the side to dip the crust in that the kids weren't eating. It was so tasty, so we didn't want it to go to waste. We took two pieces to go, and everyone left with a belly full. Staff was very friendly. This is a small Mom amd pop that does a lot of carry out business. Good value for the money. If I lived closer this maybe a problem, as I would eat there often! Lol.. enjoy.. we sure did! read more

1st Pizza Place we have been to in a while that is very consistent with their pies. We have been ordering from here 1x/week for about 3-4 months now and they are really consistent. We tried so many places before finding this gem. The other places while being more well known, would have constant issues with doneness, flavor, and service, not sure why but JI has been excellent. We have only done carry out due to the Kung flu which is fine as it's a bit small inside. But they do crank out great pies. The staff is awesome they are always friendly and professional! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area! read more

My steak and cheese sandwich tonight was basically 100% cheese. It's such a shame, sometimes their food is great, and other times it's severely lacking. They also don't sell bottled drinks which doesn't make any sense as they has a high profit margin. They need to get a fryer as well, so they can sell french fries, which again doesn't make any sense because it has a huge profit margin. Very rude and unprofessional. They told us an hour and fifteen minute wait. Fine, it's Friday night. I get it. But when we got there to pick up the order, they took our payment first (no refund) before telling us that we were gonna have to wait another twenty minutes on top of that. Effectively making this an 1 hour and 35 min procedure. It's not enough they underestimated the time but they were incredibly rude too. Their pizzas are great, but the rudeness and underhanded attitude is NOT worth my time or money. Very shady. Very disappointing. And they also really don't care that you're disappointed--"Here, have a free brownie" was about the extent of their apology. read more

I have now had JI Pizza twice and have loved it both times. You can tell they use quality toppings which is key in making a good pie. While it tends to be a tad on the greasy side, in my mind there is nothing wrong with that. The best part of their pizza is the crust. This is the best crust I've had anywhere in the Charleston area by far. I wouldn't suggest dining in as their seating is limited but it is still an option. Take out is definitely the way to go. I keep promising myself I won't come back here. First it was the awful service that triggered my first boycotting. Admittedly, the pizza is (was) very good and I relented after a few months and bought another pie. Tonight the husband and I were nursing hangovers and it was decided that we were desperate enough to brave crappy service for a good pizza. It USED to be very good pizza. What we got tonight was slop. The pizza uncooperatively kept falling apart and made it very awkward to eat. The beauty of pizza is that it's supposed to be finger food. What we got was a soggy mess. JI Pizza has just been too inconsistent--either bad service or sloppy pizza. I WILL NOT be going back. The only thing that redeemed them before was the delicious pizza. Really great pizza at J.I.! Living up north near Cleveland, Ohio and a lot of authentic Italian mom and pop restaurants and pizzerias you have your choice of some of the best pies anywhere. We had a taste for pizza and with not many choices around (didn't want to patronize the chains) we ordered from J.I. Pizza. I Ordered a 14"mostly veggie pizza with mushrooms, red peppers and spinach and pepperoni on one half and it was baked to perfection! This is a good solid pizza place. The toppings are fresh and plentiful, crusts are good, service is prompt and the pizzas aren't too greasy. All in all I was thrilled to discover a go-to pizza place on John's Island. It isn't artisanal, or super creative, or gourmet- its just really great traditional pizza. And sometimes that's exactly what you want- solid crust, sauce, plenty of cheese and loaded with toppings. And that's what they do here. My boyfriend, a friend, and I split their largest size and none of us could power through two slices. I love having such a massive option! The large is truly a remarkable pizza (I know I sound crazy) but each slice is so massive it doesn't fit on a plate! The box had to be put in the trunk! It will feed 3 adults for multiple meals! Great little neighborhood pizza place... it's best to call in your order because they do a heck of a business and sometimes it's an hour before your pizza is done. The large is absolutely huge so don't get it unless you are feeding at least 4 hungry people. This place definitely disappointed all around. We walked in at about 8:15pm, on a night that their closing time was listed as 9:00pm, and all of the chairs were up on the tables. We were greeted by the girl behind the counter and offered the full paper menus. After browsing the menu we ordered a plain, medium pizza and took a seat at the booth. We then waited, and watched several people come in to pick up orders. At 8:50pm we were starting to wonder what had happened ... was our pizza being made? How much longer would it be? and decided to stand and wait for the pizza, which we didn't get until 9:05pm ... we waited almost an hour for a pizza. There pizza is wonderful, but they are never open during the last hour or two they are suppose to be open if you call at 9 don't expect them to even answer because they close at 10 Friday and Saturday and won't even bother with answering the phone. Their pizzas are GINORMOUS (is that even a word?!) and overall very good. I really like that you can order just a slice of pizza (which is also huge!) and get any of the specialty pies. I've done this twice though and both times there was barely any cheese on the pizza. Not a huge deal as I had some mozzarella at home and could just throw it back in the oven for a bit but, well, I shouldn't have to do that. Otherwise the pizza is great! read more

I LOVE JI Pizza! The staff is always so friendly and helpful and the pizza is some of the best in Charleston. They cover all the basics pizza and the specialty pizzas are totally worth trying out too-- from the Spicy Buddha to the Ranch Hand. All have very different, interesting flavor profiles but none are too over the top or flashy. Just classic, good ol' well made 'za. Did I mention they have a pizza so big you have to turn it sideways to get it out of the door?? Perfect for a quick meal after a night out with friends or for a family movie night at home. They can get really busy on the weekends as you can imagine (they are one of the only pizza spots on the island and definitely the most noteworthy) but the wait is worth it so make sure to plan ahead if possible!
