This place is absolutely deplorable. I've known JJ since 2004 and so many people I actually spoke with personally and I'm talking 100's of people. I worked for Budget Rent A Car in car sales. Budget would recommend JJ to its customers to there dismay. So I know first hand. I took a huge chance replacing my heater core and high pressure hose. Well I have never had used JJ before figuring he knows me so maybe he'll take care of me He was $50 more for the heater core replacement than the other shop. I was quoted $1000 total including tax. Of course when I pick it up its $100 more. That's not the issue. My check engine light came back on the next day. And my blinkers are now clicking at a higher interval. My drivers side power window doesn't roll up until several attempt are made. My check trac light and abs brake light illuminated indicating deactivation of both systems while driving on the freeway THE NEXT DAY. I had to bring it in again and now my interior lights will not shut off. And after the second visit my check engine light is still on. I took it to another shop who found the lighting module is defective. So I had to disconnect the battery so it didn't die. That cost me another $150. Additionally, the guy working on my car was not JJ, it was some random mechanic who looked at me with distain. I would highly recommend you DO NOT waste your time or money. JJ lied to my face about the price. Fixed my car and created more problems. I have never had an experience of a shop that is so inept. Avoid it like the plague. read more

Poor place JJ's auto service if they see you have a euro car they want to stick you with a high bill. Took my BMW 325 ci for a overheating problem. Even before I said anything about my car they automatically recommended I changing and getting a new radiator and fan clutch set up. When I had already replaced this with new parts how can they not tell idk must not have much experience with euro cars. I told them what I need as I was aware of the issue and wanted to see what they would say they wanted to have me replace the whole cooling system when all I needed was the bottom extension bracket. Instead the thought they could get away with shotgunning problems thinking I would just say yes do what you have to do, beware folks they pry on the weak and vulnerable. After telling them what I needed (bottom extension bracket) they said oh your right. Still my car didn't not come back functional they said it was good and can be use as a daily driver. Not the case my car ended up over heating and cause head damage brought it back to them to have them repaired and they could not they said I have engine damage and then it would be a whole Nother bill when they're the ones who didn't fix my overheating problem and cause my engine to go under they just return my money they gave back a damaged car this is how they pride themselves in their work I would not recommend this place stay away especially if you have a euro car. Just wanna say thanks to this auto shop and all of the mechanics there, my kia was making a grinding noise and the ac wasn't working I had taken it too my dealer and they told me it was my engine and would cost nearly 2,000 too fix. I ended up taking it here and they informed me it was my AC compressor clutch and the price too fix it was very reasonable way less than 2,000, and I was able to get my car back the next day! Been here in the past, did have good service in past. They did not help my issue just seemed they wanted to see how much money they can get out of me. Went in for diagnostic and fix the "check battery" light and they said they did an electrical diagnostic which is more expensive and was not requested. Dropped off my car for simple thing had to leave It and pick up next day still wasn't fixed so i paid the $80 diagnostic and left with my car. Do know they offer good service I've had It in the past but this experience wasn't a pleasant one unfortunately. read more

Amazing Service and Price, I came to JJ's Auto Service on a recommendation from a friend. I traveled from Riverside to Downey, I was not disappointed. The owner JJ took real good care of me. He personally examined my car and then took the time to explain to me what my car needed. He also explained the reasons why I needed the repairs and gave me details about the repairs! Wow, no mechanic had ever done that before. Bottom line, I got my car back and the repairs were done to specifications and the price was very competitive. The next time I brought my car to JJ's, I had a noise in the front end when I turned the car to the right. I dropped off the car and that afternoon the car was repaired. Amazing service at JJ's Auto Service in Downey! They really took care of my car, and the price was right. The thing is that the other repair shops I went to didn't know exactly what was wrong with my car, and they wanted to charge me a whole lot of money up front. At JJ's, they diagnosed the problem, and it was something in the front-end of the car. They fixed it in just a day and a half, at a good price too. I checked the dealer and the other shops afterwards, and they were really high compared to what I paid at JJ's. Nice shop, JJ is always there and he answers all of my questions. Called in advance because I found a coupon online for $29.95 + fees. I have an older car and asked if there was any extra charges charge. No he said unless its a truck. I tell him I need star service. Cone on in he said drive over and he says its an older car and its another $25.00 or evt. + 29.95 OK, I consent and let him know I put oil in my car but accidentally left the cap off and oil spewed out, it was messy but I had only driven a mile before I discovered it and replaced the oil cap. Car drives fine. Halfway through the star smog check they call me out to look at the upcoming test and tells me I wont pass unless I replace the spark plug s because theres oil near them and they will corrode. I ask how much? $70 they reply. No, I said and said Ill just leave. Well he points to a sign that says I must pay now but I have 10 days to retest, I get into my car and get my phone. He freaks out and says don't take pictures I will make it pass. Then I ask to see the sheet where it failed. It didn't it passed every thing. So I paid the total now $69.75 for the smog test and left. The coupon is bogus just a come on. They are not forthright on the phone re: older cars. The repair work they recommended I didn't need and passed that day. The only good thing is that I didn't wail long. read more

First thing, honest place. This is probably going to be my only go-to place from now on. I have a volkswagen Jetta and these guys helped me so much!. So my transmission light turned on and i went to other shops and they tried to tell me it was something that wasn't. They also tried to rip me off. So i decided go fo to JJs. First thing they were super friendly and honest. As a 21 year old female most mechanics and auto places try to lie or make me pay for more than its worth. Also I'm not made out of money so honesty is most important because i want to pay for what is needed to get fixed. The mechanic told me why my light was on and said it was the evap. He told me a good price and reasonable price. And got it fixed in 4 hours. Wasn't bad because i didnt schedule an appointment and i needed this. After this my car worked perfectly and haven't had problems ever since. Definitely will recommend this place to every person i know that needs auto repairs. They do about everything. Dropped something into the cylinder, and kept taking my vehicle back, until i realized my engine went bad because of this. Now I have to spend $2000, to get a replacement.
