I decided to have them service my 2013 BMW and I felt very comfortable in the advise they provided on the condition of the vehicle. Today at about 5pm (Thursday) I was driving home from work in the city of Orange. CHAPMAN and MAIN street were the major cross streets. Hope you get to the bottom of this rude man. Your company truck almost got in my lane. I moved to the next lane same thing happened again. Drove up to see BOTH men on their cell phones. I honked my horn warning them to get off their cell phones. Your driver was "looking" on his!! .. he sped up as I pulled in the island SUPER CLOSE to my car "to try and scare me" then pulled infront of me made a u turn and I was able to snatch a photo. I DO NOT appreciate men who decide to put other lives in danger because their on their cell phones which is against the law. This represents YOUR COMPANY. Hope you have a good talk with your employees to OBEY THE LAW and control his anger when driving when it clearly IS HIS FAULT for scrolling on his phone and driving. Surprised the passenger was on his phone like nothing was happening. Ridiculous. ***update*** Thank you JJ, I appreciate your kindness and response. I changed my stars as it wasnt your fault. This place is TERRIBLE!! They just want to get your money!!! Took my car for a smog test, waited 45 minutes then guy comes out and says that my car failed and that I had to change my motor mounts! What that has to do with a smog check? Beats me I'm not a mechanic. Then they tell me that I need to change an air duct and an air cleaner box. And that will make it pass. I said okay I can do that. But before I leave they said "we can fix all that for just $1,500!!" I said no thanks I'll be back. I fixed what needed to be fixed according to them over the weekend and I come back Monday. I get there and same guy tells me, "we're on lunch give me 5 minutes". Damn lunch was over 40 minutes! Another guy finally comes out and asks for my keys. 5 minutes later guy comes out and says "what did you do to your car? I can't pass it. It's smoking." I just told him I fixed what needed to be fixed and he said "well I don't know, I can't pass it. You have to pay again to test it again when you fix it" Even though I fixed exactly what he told me to fix the first time. It felt as if they were upset that I didn't pay them the $1,500 to "fix" it. It was just a wait of time and money. Find a better place because this isn't it. And btw the "smoke" was condensation. read more

I had to write this review because I had a great experience with JJ's Auto Service. It is hard to find a reliable and honest mechanic and I feel that I have found one. Integrity is important. I had some minor preventative maintenance recently and I am looking to get a repair done soon. So far, they have been very accurate, quick and effective with very reasonable pricing. The service, repair and everyone there is friendly. They have some coffee in the waiting area and a huge, comfy sofa as well. The wait here is not so bad, they even have a candy machine. But, if you really need to, there is a burger joint and gas station not too far away. I shall have a review update something this week, so far things have been good. read more

My requests were all competently addressed and other recommendations were made for services I knew were needed. There was no pressure up-selling and all work was done quickly, completely, and satisfactory. This location was convenient and all staff members were friendly and courteous. This place is a complete rip off. Just look for yourself. The "clean and adjust" headlight is absolutely eye gouging... as they made no difference from how they were originally. They screw you when you need a brake and light inspection for DMV. If you don't acquiesce to their ridiculous prices, they won't sign off on the inspection..... just ridiculous! read more

I decided to post a review versus reporting this incident to BAR. I'm saddened because I felt I was being taken advantage of. It involved a smog check which they were able to accommodate without appointment. My only problem with them is that I knew my vehicle should pass inspection as I'd never had an issue before. I walked in, unassuming, older grey haired woman, alone, driving my older utility vehicle which is about 25 years old. It's my hoopty and still serves me well after all these years. Great service until I'm told my vehicle did not pass inspection. Emphasis was made that the vehicle is a gross polluter with emissions over 4 times normal. The first thing he asked is whether I have a mechanic and I said no. He then told me there is a program available through the State to provide financial assistance for the repair and proceeded to provide the application. I didn't fuss, paid him and just said thank you and proceeded immediately to another smog check inspector. I showed the other inspector the test and he said it probably won't pass and that I'd be wasting my money (I had to pay for another test). I said no, I don't believe my vehicle failed and something potentially shady just happened. I said, no it's worth it to me because I'm old and hate being taken advantage of. Guess what? The second inspector was amazed and said I was very shrewd because my vehicle passed with FLYING colors. Gross Polluter NOT!!!!! I went back to JJ's and he tried like heck not to refund my money, telling me I paid for the test. I told him that I am not making accusation that he intentionally did anything to cause my vehicle to fail, but I'm going to let the evidence speak for itself, intentional or unintentional. He did refund my money. I just feel this review was warranted, just in case anybody else runs up against the same circumstances. The face of this speaks for itself. Other than this, I thought the place was nice and professional. They could have had another customer, but now, I don't think so. So based on this experience I give them one star! read more

If you don't want to read my review just don't go to JJs. Initially I had a very nice and positive review for JJs auto service but upon finding out more about them through the next visit I, which was four years ago at this point, my outlook changed and it just took me a while to revise. I drive a high-end subaru with a turbo that JJ assured me they would be able to fix appropriately. I initially went in for a wheel bearing but after they had a little bit of time with it, it turned out I needed both rear wheel bearings and the brakes to match. I trusted him so I went with the recommendation. I chalked it up to proper preventative maintenance. I really like my car and wanted to use all OEM Subaru parts. JJ assured me that he would do so but it was a little bit more expensive. I totally understand this and completely went with it. Come to find out he used complete trash parts that failed out six months to the date of the service. I had all the parts pulled and saved and not one of them was Subaru OEM. Before all of those parts failed I realized that I also needed a front driver side axle and had JJ put it in. After the completion of the job I noticed I had a weird humming coming from that same axle now. I asked JJ about the humming and he told me that I then had a problem with the motor mounts. I researched the motor mounts in my car because they look pretty beefy and they said that there is never an issue with motor mounts in this car because of overengineering. I brought the car into JJ for him to inspect and he told me that it was motor mounts once again so we both went on a ride and he told me to isolate the noise. He got very upset with me when I isolated the noise to each time the car accelerating from a stop. I actually felt pretty threatened by him at this point in the way he was talking to me and how I was cornered in my own car and the way he was mashing on my gas and brakes. I had done research on the axel and it said if you did not use a Subaru direct replacement you would get this crazy humming noise that I was speaking of. I asked him if he used original Subaru parts and then came the truth that he did not and he had the balls to charge me for a Subaru parts even though he got the cheapest parts he could find and the difference in price is ridiculous not to mention clearly the difference in quality. It has haunted me for years at this point that I have not written a revised and accurate review of JJ. I actually feel completely traumatized and shellshocked from the last time I visited his shop. I will never return and I hope you do not get scammed out of your hard-earned money by the guy. This is written whole heartedly and honestly. Update 9/13/19 clearly you have not read my review JJ... It timelines my last experience exactly to the date that you specified the last time you saw my vehicle. read more

I have a 2013 Audi S5 and I brought it here last week for front and rear brake and rotor service. I ordered all the parts myself and brought them in to JJ. They were the most affordable in the area out of 10 shops I called concerning labor cost. I dropped it off at 8 am when they opened and my car was available for pick-up by 11 am. The customer service I received by Steve and JJ himself has been unparalleled. Really impressed with how honest and expedient they were with my repairs. When I returned to pick up my vehicle JJ even returned back to me an extra brake sensor that they sent me that was in the box. They could have easily kept it but were honest. I appreciated that more than you know. I was even able to talk to the head mechanic who worked on the vehicle as well. I'm new to the area and now have a new go-to mechanic. I took my truck in for a smog check expecting it to pass, as it has since I've had the truck. The truck has a newer catalytic converter, maybe two years old. When I get the results of the smog check, the vehicle clearly passed, but in the visual inspection they noted that the catalytic converter was tampered with, which automatically fails your vehicle. They then conveniently tried to sale me on them installing two new catalytic converters since my truck takes two, and anyone that knows anything about replacing them knows the expense, it's not cheap. These guys are crooks, and dont deserve any stars. Anyone thinking of taking their car here should think twice. read more

I've had a few problems with other smog service places not redeeming their coupons because I have a Mercedes, but I did not encounter any fuss here. JJ was very professional and I only had to wait 10-15 minutes for the smog check to be completed. The most honest and best priced mechanic in Southern California, IMHO.... I moved to San Diego shortly after going to JJ's and found myself making the 2 hour drive up north to get repairs done on my 2000 Chevy Silverado... Even after spending the extra $100 on gas to travel, the total amount of money spent was still a lot cheaper than any other quotes received from other mechanics by far. Revisited JJ with a brake job. Done very fast, well, and cheap. After the job, JJ himself test drove it with me to review the work. He had a manager last year that was not the best, but this has been fixed: the manager is gone and better people are on board. Still highly recommend. This is one of the few honest mechanics left, straight forward diagnosis, took my 4 runner, with the dashboard lighted up with engine light, they found that the gas cap was not closing tight, replaced and problem solved without all kinds of stories others will make up to rip you off of hundreds of dollars.
