Absolutely delicious and the service was also great. New Mexico currently only allows take-out and patio seating. We were going to place a to-go order, but there was no one on the patio, so we decided to eat there. The food was AMAZING. We had spaghetti and meatballs and a deluxe pizza. My friend loved the spaghetti. The pizza was perfect. The crust was super crispy! I just moved to Santa Fe and this place will definitely be on my list of favorites. Prime rib was delicious and tender. Lamberger was amazing. My son wanted to have a second one. The old fashion drink that my son had was great even asked the waiter. What type of whiskey it was from. As for the desert. It looked amazing, but for the price I was very disappointed. It was just a sliver of chocolate cake and the pie was very dry. Otherwise I would recommend eating there. Wow! Thanksgiving dinner to go was probably the best Thanksgiving meal I've ever eaten. Coming in from out of town, I had the challenge of finding Thanksgiving food for 11 people. Google steered me to Joe's & what a stroke of good luck! We picked up trays of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans & stuffing, with amazing gravies & a fantastic chocolate mousse cake. Service was friendly & quick. Everything was super easy to heat up & serve right from the containers. And what a pleasant surprise to find the mashed potatoes were full of garlicky goodness. This is one of my mom's favorite places in Santa Fe. We stopped here for lunch a couple of days ago. The restaurant is sunny and welcoming. Our server was helpful, attentive, and absolutely lovely. Mom had the fried chicken which she really enjoyed. I was visiting from out of town so wanted some green chile. I got the GC cheeseburger. It was a good burger with a good slice of cheese, fresh and hot. The only thing I would have liked better, and this is the reason for one less star, is that the chile was not hot. I haven't lived in NM for a while so my spice tolerance is below the average local's, and I still thought the chile had little to no heat. Otherwise a nice dining experience. read more

What's happening at Joe's Dinering? Well, they changed their name from an "er" to an "ing.". I left there less than an hour ago after eating with six friends. I had arrived last so my friends were already seated at three connected tables and had placed their orders. Our waitress made it clear that she was very busy. Instead of connecting another table, she showed me an empty chair and shoved me in at the end so that two of my friends had to make room for me where there was no room. Before I could open the menu, our waitress asked for my order. It was clear that, if I wasn't quick enough, she was going to leave to serve some other table. She even scolded me saying that I would have to wait longer. Still rushed, I ordered Joe's Benedict because I had it at a previous visit. When it arrived, it was cold and tasted a little "off." Now I am home with a very queasy stomach and a large serving of Tums for dessert. I know that times are tight for staff but they were very efficient when collecting my money at the end. read more

Everything sounds good on the menu, we've had great pizza and other meals in the past, but this last visit was atrocious. I got the special of the night, Hungarian Goulash with spatzle. It came in a bowl and if it hadn't been covered in sauce would have looked nonexistent. Less than 1/2 cup of meat and maybe 1/2 cup of spatzle. Not a meal for me, not enough for my dog either. My wife got the fettuccine with mushrooms. Slightly better portion but had no flavor. Covered it with salt and pepper and still tasted bland. To finish it off we got a slice of carrot cake. Tasted good but the thick end was less than inch. I'm a carpenter, not exaggerating about the inch. That might have been okay for $3-4 but this slice was $8! That's 1/32 of a cake for $8, or over $250 for a cake! Two weekends prior I bought my wife a whole fancy chocolate cake from a Swiss confectionery for $45. TLDR Food can be decent but portions leave you ready for a whole meal afterwards. Don't bother. read more

Food,management are horrible. I stopped coming here many years ago. Decided to give it a try and I am sooo sad that I did. My breakfast dish was messed up twice. I finally asked to change the breakfast to something more basic.I I was charged for the original item "because I ate half of it" before realized that they forgot the home fries. The owner argued and refused to change the price of my less expensive breakfast. He said I got a better deal because I ate half of the more expensive meal!! Opaque menu changes , rude service For 10 yrs I've ordered the light breakfast combo and it's always been consistent besides slight price increases over the years. On my last visit the server charged $4 for the cup of coffee, which was always included in the price of the combo. When asked about the surprising charge, I was treated like a child that failed to read the instructions and Joe's dropped from my favorite breakfast spot to a place I won't return to. One morning previous, a roach crawled on me as I sipped my coffee, but the server was kind and apologetic and charged me for my meal, which I was happy to pay for (she also gave me a free Morning Glory Muffin) Restaurants have to do what they have to do, but rude service isn't something I tolerate in an establishment. I have not left a review in years, but felt inclined today. My mother was celebrating her birthday and felt most comfortable in an outdoor space. We had a warm, sunny spot outside for our party of five (my parents, husband, and sons, ages 12 and 14). The server was friendly, and the owner (I believe?) checked in on us a number of times. The food was fabulous! My vegetarian parents had the eggplant Parmesan, I had a brisket quesadilla, my sons had a pizza and green chile burger, and my husband had the club sandwich. Lots of variety, and all delicious. My 12 year old said it was the best pizza he's had (plain cheese lol). Highly recommend. It just felt good to have good food, service, and celebrate a birthday. I really don't like to leave a bad review , especially these days . But , I ordered the vege lasagna, and it did not look like lasagna. It was a lasagna noodle , that had chunks of zucchini and mushroom , covered with canned tomatoes. I couldn't find any cheese or Italian flavor . When they asked , I said it wasn't good so the very nice server took it to the manager Marissa , and she said I had eaten half of it so there wasn't anything they could do .She didn't offer any apologies or another meal , like most places would do . Just finished a delicious lunch at Joe's Dining. We are from Florida and took the recommendation to come here from our RV resort- and we're glad we did. Someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing! We had a delicious cold fruit soup, followed by a yummy Quiche and for my partner, a quesadilla with duck, pineapple, cheese, guacamole- an unexpectedly tasty combo! I seldom take the time to review a restaurant, but our experience last night at Joe's was so all around excellent, that I had to write this one. Joe's has been a staple in Santa Fe for many years, but somehow this was only our second visit. We sat on the lovely patio where the tables were well spaced for privacy. Our server, Keegan, who is also the assistant manager, provided exceptional service throughout our visit. We were warmly greeted and our drink order was taken quickly. My husband ordered the Greek salad with salmon and said it was top notch. I chose the half meatball sub with a side salad. Just delicious. I also enjoyed a slice of the NY cheesecake. Wow there was a server there named Anna who totally blew me away! She was so helpful and friendly. I love the ambience of the diner it's like old school diner but with a darker lighting which makes it feel borderline spooky. I want to commend Joe's for serving wings that are obviously from chickens that have not been treated with antibiotics as a growth stimulant. So often at restaurants, wings are huge and fatty. I only order them from places that I know are sourcing them responsibly. Two days ago I ordered the wings at Joe's after being told by our server that they are organic. I don't know that they are organic in that many servers confuse all-natural with organic, but either way, they were really good and were a size that allowed me to feel reassured that I was not eating antibiotics in my lunch. As a wing lover, I am happy to find a place where I can enjoy them. Our server told us that some customers complain that they are small so I encourage Joe's to suggest to their servers that they inform the customers as to why this is, that this is the natural size of chickens' wings and why so many other wings are so huge. When they hear that they are eating antibiotics in wings elsewhere, I think most of them will be thrilled to avoid doing so at Joe's. Thank you, Joe's, for caring about our over-exposure to antibiotics and the problems this causes, and for attempting to offer sustainably sourced food in general. read more

A coworker recommended Joes and my family tried it. I had the spaghetti with meatballs. For $14 I received a small bowl of spaghetti with meatballs. The noodles were cooked good and the meatballs were ok, I believe they were frozen pace type meatballs. The sauce was tasteless. Was this just smashed tomatoes or something? Ragu would have been better. The spaghetti comes by itself. No bread or salad, etc. seriously, Denny's spaghetti has more taste and much better portions, not that I would suggest anyone go to Denny's for pasta. My wife had a burger which was also came with no sides. She ordered a $5 side of fries. She said the burger was both dry and tasteless. The fries were over cooked and appear to have been the fast food frozen fries. Service was ok, but nothing to write home about. I was asked if I needed anything else, but never how it tastes. I will not be back. Looking at the glowing reviews from out of town people with no other Santa Fe reviews, I question if the reviews are PURCHASED and FAKE. A few of the positive reviews are Santa Fe. One points out homemade fries. The fries my wife paid $5 for did NOT appear homemade. read more

Back in the Fifties, there used to be cartoons with a guy walking down a sidewalk wearing a sandwich sign reading "EAT AT JOE'S!". Back then "Joe's" was a sort of meme for excellent food. This restaurant is all that AND a bag of crunchy onion rings! Good food and a homey atmosphere. From the Thirties - Fifties decor down to the newsletters they give out, this place has the vibe! And the food to match! Generous portions, my partner had the fettucine and took some home in a "people bag" (we don't have a dog!) and I had the brisket sandwich. The food is excellent, well prepared and attractively presented. And the onion rings! Oh. My. Word! so crunchy and crisp you almost need hearing protection! YUM! Our waitress, Michelle, was a delight and made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The staff is young, bright and obviously enjoying their work. Interior and patio dining available, and they do host groups if you ask them. The Lions Club meets there, which is how I found out about it! Oh and if you have a dog, they sell frozen liver so you can take some home to Fido! Parking is ample but beware, the lot is somewhat labyrinthine and you have to maneuver to avoid the would-be Mario Andrettis and Dale Earnharts roaring around. Good ole comfort food and easy prices! Went here after working up a sweat playing racquetball at GCCC down the street. The atmosphere is fun, diner-ish, and much larger than you would think from the parking lot. They have good local beers on tap (Monk's Ale, Marble, etc.) and a good selection on the menu. I had the green chile buffalo burger and it was pretty good. However, for as much green chile that was loaded noto it, a little heat would have been nice. And, as snobby as it sounds, I appreciated the organic ketchup (no HFCS, baby!). My friends had a reuban (which looked amazing) and the buffalo wings. For some reason they didn't come with buffalo sauce...that's even a thing? I am curious about the pizza but the sizes and prices were a bit outrageous. C'mon, a 10" pizza is $16 and almost $30 for a 16"? Yowza. While the food was pretty good I don't think it warranted the astronomical prices. My buffalo burger was $14. If I wanted fries it would be another $1.50 or $2. Nickeling and diming at those prices is annoying, to say the least. The beer pints were standard price (I think $5) though. Pretty much every sandwich was $13 (?!) and my friend's wings were like $9 for 6 of them. I don't normally harp on price that much but geez loo eez for 3 people it was $60. Looking at the other reviews, it appears I'm not alone in thinking they're high. Seriously, no pun intended. Bottom line: if they dropped the prices maybe 20-ish%, I would be willing to check out this place again. But for casual, diner-esque food it's just not worth it. What I love about Joe is how down-to-earth and un-pretentious he is about food. Plain and simple. In Santa Fe, you have to be careful you will run into the most pretentious of chefs and restaurateurs around. In this case, what you see is what you get. For starters, Joe publishes a newsletter. Everything from his experience with high end supplements to help with longevity to how important it is where he gets his beef from. So you can always count on a good read if you don't feel like surfing the web. WiFi is free by the way. Joe also has a small garden out front that they use when the season works out for it. I LOVE the diversity of the staff. Huge win for me. And the menu... EVERYTHING IS GOOD. And he really does have everything, we have ordered pizza to go, and had "talk about it all day long" breakfast there. Coffee is super YUM. The prices are high because the food is very good: almost all non-gmo, sourced from socially responsible farmers and local, healthy food supply chains. There is a cost associated with that. For the reviewer that says Joe should not be shopping at Sam's club seems silly. I mean, Sam's club has a lot of things a restaurant needs. Where should he get his napkins? His cleaning supplies? I know this place well since it is near to where I live. But I give up. The owner's been looking to unload this place for years and cannot get a buyer. Wait staff quit regularly because he is notoriously cheap and does not train them properly. The quality of the food can vary wildly and the kitchen and wait staff often need to be reminded frequently about customers' food allergies and end up forgetting and serving ER inducing meals as a result! The owner is intolerant of patrons whose disabilities are hidden, and in spite of being told about them, does not care. Take out orders often have items missing which one has paid for but doesn't discover until already home, as does the printed menu, which regularly leaves out ingredients like the presence of raw onion on a sandwich--something most people do not want. The place has potential but desperately needs a new owner. read more

I have little to say about this place so i will make it quick. My wife and I stopped in for dinner and wanted to try a Local place. I could see walking in there is clear dynamic of who their customers are and clearly who doesn't fit the "mold". We walked in with 2 other couples. we all got seated quickly however I noticed the other 2 couples got menus immediately (the ones ahead of us and the ones behind us). Our waiter came over and took our drink order and that was the last we saw of anyone to help us. About 20 minutes after waiting another gentlemen walked in immediately got seated and handed a menu. At this point my wife and I were just observing how everyone else was being helped and served. The waiter came over to the gentlemen that arrived after us and took his order. This is when we realized we were the only Hispanic folks in the restaurant, but we were also the only ones without a menu or any service whatsoever. I am a New Mexican loud and proud, but never thought I would be discriminated in my own home state! DO NOT RECOMMEND this place unless you are in mid 50's or older and white. We happen to stumble upon the most racist place in NM. Cant speak to the food as we never got a chance to order after 45 minutes watching people come and go and order before we even got a menu we stood up and walked out. I wouldve given zero stars if i could have! Where do I even start with this order? First of all 3 burgers all Medium we received all well done, might as well have been a hockey puck on a bun. All "buffalo" burgers and we received plain beef. Let's move to my burger alone. The Triple B burger; well I was given blue cheese that was so old it was grey in color, inedible. No bbq sauce like it was advertised and a well done patty. What a shame my family and I used to enjoy this spot. But after food like this we won't be back.
