Just moved to Santa Fe and saw Joe's ad in Local Flavor. It was an off hour, after lunch right around the time the school lets out. I am vegetarian and there were some good options and also gluten free. The mushroom burger was excellent on a gluten free bun with a side of sweet potato and regular house made potato chips. We need more eateries like this on the South side. I will recommend to friends that are watching what they eat. I will check them out for more meals with friends. read more

We were just passing thru SF and stopped because my husband won a gift certificate. His beef brisket was exceptional and everything else was great, too. My agave wine margarita was a welcome surprise. Pecan apricot pie was a nice finishing touch. Scott, our waiter, was professional with just the right amount of attentiveness. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurant experiences in Santa Fe. The do fresh, local creative foods that Michael Pollan would be proud of. The pizza is ok, but what I like are the specials and meat dishes. There is something about the local buffalo and lamb dishes. They are always nice. I love their slow food culture. read more

My husband and I love this place! His favorite pick is the buffalo green chile cheeseburger and I go for the pizza. The service is great and the iced tea is awesome! I took a out of town guest to Joe's on Sunday for brunch. I must say I left disappointed. We ordered our breakfast at 10:45 and waited until 11:15 till it was brought to the table. I am a restaurant and hospitality professional and consult to many national brands. This is the worst restaurant in Santa Fe. Run, do not walk away from this place. I ordered the "Herb Grilled Chicken" which consisted of two little, pathetic pieces of tough stringy flattened chicken breasts with a few herbs sprinkled on top of one piece. The best part was that this entrée cost $19, probably an $18 profit for the restaurant. Two others ordered the eggplant parmesan which needed a steak knife to cut it. The weekend breakfast menu has a few really good vegetarian choices. The Cappuchino was a bit of a joke (tasted like filter coffee with milk foam and was pretty pricey) but the food was good. Not cheap, but everything tasted fresh and high quality. read more

This is three plus......I like the idea of local, but have not been too impressed with their Greek Salad or their omelette, and I am not the pickiest guy in the world. (Unlike the lady who was traumatized by being brought water in a drought---c'mon, give me a break...Only my workmates wanting to go there got me back. But I had a chopped steak dish which was really good...So I am optimistic that they have some good stuff here....I had just not ordered stuff I liked in the past...In Santa Fe you have to be careful, restauranteurs, because there are too many options. This place was dead on a Saturday late afternoon . I would not recommend this place At all. Very over priced for so so food. A cup which is supposed to be a bowl of soup is 8 dollars and only half filled. BIG rip off. I would hate to see what a 5 dollar cup of soup looked like. The food was over cooked and very dry. I ordered the turkey club sandwich and the bread was toasted so much I might have as well at a piece of cardboard. They were very chinsey on the mayo it looked like they used a 1/8 of a teaspoon on the whole sand which. Which in that case made for a very dry sand which . My friend ordered the Greek pizza and it was so salty and burnt also it was very inedible . I will be marking this place off my list of places to eat. Another bad restaurant in Santa Fe. The staff were also not very attentive like I said there was two other tables in the restaurant with customers and it took over a half hour to get the soup. read more

Lucky for me, my local friends turned me onto Joe's. I had the lamb burger with grilled onions and swiss cheese on a gluten free bun...it was cooked to perfection. Coleslaw is good too. I've been here twice and both times my burger was perfect. It's my new favorite place for a burger! I'm happy to pay for quality, organic food...this place is a diamond in the rough. For those of you who didn't like it, good---go away...make space for all the new folks who will come when I tell them how yummy the food is! Ate here for the second time, this time for breakfast and it was superb! Ham and eggs delicately cooked with tender lightly seasoned potatoes; great coffee all organic and local! Service was efficient and unobtrusive. Prices were just right. We'll definitely be back for more of their down home fare with the uptown flair. read more

I just finished having dinner there a Joe's diner the food was OK the service was lousy. The bus boy paid more attention to us then our waiter. And for some reason they charged us $2.49 for empty Plates just because we brought our own birthday cake. I have lived in Santa Fe all my life I've known lots of people who owned restaurants. Like Tomasitas Tortilla Flats Village Inn and have eaten at almost every restaurants in Santa Fe but never has any restaurants ever charged for extra plates. Just because you brought your own birthday cake. My family and I will never eat there again and every time someone asked me about this restaurant I will let them know not to go there because this made me very sad and very disappointed read more

Our server submitted a ticket with merely a total that disguised she had already added herself a 25% tip on a two top table. The next day when I called the restaurant they offered a partial gift certificate for the amount of the disguised tip, then relented and issued a gift certificate for disguised tip plus the tip I left. I can hardly recommend this place. First off, it is not a diner in the traditional sense as I have never been to a diner that charges you extra for your fries and has milkshakes that cost over $8. The service was incredibly lousy, the food expensive, mediocre and insignificant portions. After all the hype, I was looking forward to Joe's dining and I ordered their meatloaf entree, the special of the day. Service was commendable; the entree was not. Had to ask for bread. Over priced and pretentious place. I will not return. Perhaps their main menu is better, but I do not live in Santa Fe and from my homes in Las Vegas, NM and Taos, I rarely visit Santa Fe. The quality of the food and service has gone downhill over the past couple of years while the prices seem to have gone up. We had two glasses of wine, both glasses were dirty, one had lipstick on it. Smallest serving of wine in SF. The waitress got only one replacement without even a sorry. Then switched waiters. I overheard one waiter talking loudly near the kitchen about how annoying some of his customers were that day. I ate at Joe's Diner Friday the 10th for dinner and had a pleasant experience but was completely turned off by the food. I'm however at fault for of course for ordering the dish.I had my mind set on the chicken fettuccine $14, but the person before me ordered the Greek salad with salmon and it sounded good. I got a Greek salad with grilled salmon. The Greek salad was romaine lettuce with several slivers of purple onions some feta cheese and three or so calamata olives and some other veggies thrown in and of course the roasted whole garlic cloves.; the garlic was so weird completely overpowered any other taste, and didn't remind me of a Greek salad. The dressing was ok and was served on the side. A 6oz. piece of grilled seasoned salmon was served on top of the salad,weird seasoning on the salmon, it was a nice portion size but if I knew I was paying $9 for a piece of salmon (that isn't MSC certified and feed corn) I would have expected some entree sides. In total I paid almost $28( $12 salad $9 salmon + tax+19%gratuity for split checks) for a salad with salmon and a glass of water. I def think Santa Fe has much better restaurants to offer. Our server however was awesome, she was very attentive and extremely nice. read more

I have eaten here a few times in the year and a half I've lived in Santa Fe. I was pleased every time but tonight. First off the server that seated us asked if we wanted a booth even though none were available. Second, they hired a new "chef" since my last visit and I was curious to see what he had to offer. We syarted with the chicken wings. They were tiny and tasted like frozen Tyson wings. The "hot" sauce was Franks Red Hot straight from the bottle and the blue cheese dressing was bland and watery. For our main dishes we ordered a gluten free pizza with ham and pineapple and a half rueben sandwich with a salad. The pizza was ok with little cubes of ham instead of slices or something more asthetically pleasing. The overall flavor was, I can only describe it as, meh. The rueben was bland with flavorless saurkraut that came from a can, burnt swiss, swirled rye (why does nobody use jewish or russian rye anymore?), and a russian dressing that tasted like vinegar. The salad was pleasing with fresh veggies that weren't wilted but the dressing was in a 1 ounce paper ramekin. Why have cloth napkins and paper ramekins? I don't know where this new chef came from but he needs to learn a thing or two about food service and pleasing the customer. Please bring back the flavor that was there before. read more

I am very surprised that people think that this place is pricey for what you get. Sure, you can go to Blake's or Furr's and eat for cheap, but Joe's supports our local and regional farmers and they purchase many things from the local farmer's market. They support an ethical and natural view of farming and eating. They use organic ingredients and grain-finished local meats. If you are a regular shopper of the Farmer's Market for your grocery needs, than you know it is more expensive than Sunflower, Whole Foods, or Albertson's. At Joe's you are getting what you pay for and it is delicious. The service is great, and I have had the pleasure of meeting Roland who works hard alongside his employees. The coffee was OK (average) however it was NOT worth $2.99 a cup. The cost for 2 cups of coffee was approximately 25% (24.87%) of our total tab. Starbucks' 12oz TALL, black coffee is ONLY $2.00. The MEHA (pronounced Mee-Hah) breakfast sandwich, was merely a version of a McMuffin, which is around $2.79; however at Joe's you get charged $6.49. I asked for a couple of jalapenos slices and we were charged $1.00. In all you can a similar healthy breakfast for 2 at McDonald's for $10.00. Our bill $26.48, plus tip ($5), was 31.48. Went for lunch today. I specifically asked the waiter if the turkey on the turkey club was "REAL turkey" he said....oh yes. When asking that question, I am assuming that REAL turkey means a turkey breast that has been baked in house since every sign and information about the restaurant touts FRESH from the area foods and organic this and that. We ate breakfast and the food was average but a bit pricey. Eggs were cold. Coffee and potatoes were good, as well as service.

Three of my family went to eat at Joe's Dining on a Tues. night. There were very few people eating. We ordered around 5:15 and our meal didn't arrive until almost 6:00. My choice was 1/2 leg of lamb and it was inedible. No spices on the meat, the 4 tiny ribs sat in a puddle of what was called gravy but was just a brown pool of tasteless something. The meat didn't even taste like lamb. My 2 side choices were a salad which was very good and french fries which were soggy. I had to send the lamb and fries back to the kitchen. They offered the menu again. I ordered a hamburger which was ok. I learned at the end of the meal, there was no chef in the kitchen at nights when people come to eat. Chef comes in the daytime to do soue chef duties, then leaves the evening cooking to who knows who. I was appalled. I'll not go there again. It took 2 hours for this disaster to come to an end. read more

This place is an awesome diner style restaurant with great pizza, sandwiches and Burgers. They also do breakfast. We came for dinner. Their homemade mozzarella cheese is great on the pizzas. They have a good gluten free selection. Almost everything can be made gluten free with GF buns, pizza crusts (homemade) and GF bread. The service is good too! read more

Joe's food is really very good except for the breakfast burrito I had a couple of weeks ago at Java Joe's that was from Joe's Diner and it had an overwhelming red potatoe taste. In fact that's all I could taste, red potatoe. Couldn't taste the chile at all. Great burgers, beef and buffalo, and great BLT especially if you order it with grn chile and avocado. It had been a while, but i went to Joe's for lunch last week. As I waited in the booth near the front window for my lunch, I witnessed a lady with her dog out on the patio. I was shocked to see one waitress go out to the patio and pet and play with the dog, then come inside and resume her duties. I don't kow if she washed her hands after that episode, but had she proceeded to serve food inside or to me and my friend, I would have left! That not only grossed me out, but that is UNSANITARY! Dogs don't belong in or on the patio's of restaurants! Needless to say, my friend and I will not be going back!!! read more

I don't like to eat at Joe's, I've always found it way too expensive for a diner, the food so so, and the service inconsistent, but friends and family insist. The best of all worlds converge at this place. Ambiance: uptempo jazz tunes on the sound system, diner decor with booths and a long counter, a nicely appointed separate bar area, a lovely front patio within view of garden boxes boasting tomatoes and herbs. Food: locally sourced, mostly organic, American and European favorites. I find it difficult not to order the superb brisket plate each and every time. I have, however, had the vegetarian lasagne and it is so light and expertly seasoned-it tastes like a high dollar dish from a fancy Conitinental restaurant. Service: the people who work here have been here forever and their professionalism is very consistent. I've never encountered a server that I didn't like. The hostess also happens to be one of the owners. The woman is brilliant-she writes a witty and indispensable newsletter about sustainability. It is quite evident that she and her husband (the chef) have put their heart and soul into this restaurant and that's why it has such a deep community feeling. I feel so good when I am in this place. My family and I eat here on the fly and also for special occasions and have never been disappointed. read more
