Not gonna lie, I was a bit underwhelmed by this place. When I picture a lobster shack, I'm usually thinking of a little place by the water, not along a busy road. There wasn't really anywhere to sit outside either, which was disappointing. Major minus points on the vibe. In terms of the lobster, the quality was decent, but the roll was pretty small. I don't think I'd bother coming back, given all the other seafood options in the area.

I've had lobster rolls all up and down New England and this is one of my favorites. It's a simple place with just a few parking spots, but the price is right and the people have always been nice. The lobster roll isn't super large or overflowing with lobster, but it's enough and it's also 20-30% cheaper than most places, allowing you to try something else! Really enjoyed my hot, buttered lobster roll and the hat trick box that we got (clams, shrimp, and scallops). On another occasion, we got another box with fried fish that was great as well (in addition to the lobster rolls, of course).

Everything was fresh off the boat Joe's on a roll is a takeout only. But the food is amazing lobster roll is packed with fresh lobster the haddock sandwich was the bomb best I ever had came with French fries or Tata tots everything is fresh like I said . The ladies who run the place are amazing cheerful and helpful second to none. Joe's on a Roll the best. The ambiance is very good too but they have no seating takeout.

The service was excellent. The lobster rolls were good., no really big chunks of lobster. Otherwise, they would've been great.. We got oysters and they chucked them for us.. Also, the onion rings were really good. No seating in very little parking. Great prices, I will definitely be back..

A family run business that makes you feel like a part of their family! Thank you, Nicki for honoring my dad by caring for us every time we come! Joe's On A Roll lobster combo - lobster roll, chips & Diet Coke - make everything feel better!!

Wow! I could just leave my review at that... what an amazing find! I had the lobster bisque, which was loaded with tons of delicious lobster! My wife had the chowder, which was equally as impressive. Which one I will get the next time is anybody's guess; they are both at the top of my list! Now let's talk about their lobster roll. Totally loaded with font of mouth watering, delicious tail meat! Absolutely one of the best lobster rolls out there! To make a good thing even better, their prices are truly affordable! I will most definitely be back here again the next time I am in the area. So delicious!!!

So happy we found this place while enjoying our weekend on the North Shore! I had the Deluxe Lobster Roll Combo that included a Lobster Roll, choice of Chowder, Lobster Bisque, or Corn Chowder, Chips and a Drink for $23.50!!! Wow! What a deal! The Lobster Roll was AMAZING! One of the best I've had and I eat them from everywhere! The chowder was THICK and yummmy!!! Will DEFINITELY be coming back!!!

They arrived over an hour past the agreed time and didn't actually get set up until just minutes before service was scheduled to begin. We were told the delay was due to a road race, which I understand things happen. What was more concerning was the lack of professionalism in follow-up conversations after the event. There was little acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused, and no real sense of accountability or willingness to make things right. Instead, the tone came across as dismissive, even going so far as to emphasize how successful their business is and how our business as a customer was not needed, which felt inappropriate given the situation. Delays can be understandable, but how a business handles them, especially afterward, is what really matters. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling undervalued as a client and I could not recommend.

Every one. The food cannot be touched. By anyone. Enchiladas are great, burritos are standouts, brisket in anything tastes so good I you would think I'd made it. So tender so good not fatty at all. I usually don't like red onions, but the pickled onions on this sandwich were a tasty touch. Next time, I'll be getting extra onions--it was that good! The food was well-packaged, seasoned perfectly, and served hot. I was initially hesitant because I'm not usually a fan of Mexican food in the U.S., but they did a great job. Ten out of ten, highly recommend!

The menu (only one item, or one item plus snacks) is posted by the intercom. On the evening I went, it was a pulled pork sandwich. I opted for the snacks option, and it came with root beer, Utz chips, and an oatmeal creme cookie. The sandwich was delicious. I got one for my dad too, and he loved it. The pork was well-seasoned and the bacon was thick, crisp, and tasty. The bun was also good. I feel like buns are often an afterthought with sandwiches, but not here. It was a high quality Kaiser roll, and it held up to the toppings (pork, bacon, slaw) well. The house-brand root beer was also good. After waiting about 20 minutes, we were finally seated. Despite that rocky start, the food was so outstanding that we ended up coming back every single day during our stay in Salem. The biggest inconsistency was the service. Out of the four days we visited, only one day stood out as having exceptional service. Most of the time we had to flag someone down for drink refills, order more oysters, ask for Parmesan cheese, or even leave our credit card hanging off the edge of the table before someone would notice we were ready to pay. Now, onto the food because that's what kept bringing us back. The clam chowder and lobster bisque were the true stars of the menu. These are the kinds of soups you'll still be thinking about long after your vacation is over. The lobster bisque was unbelievably rich, creamy, and packed with generous pieces of lobster. The clam chowder had the perfect consistency and, unlike so many others, was loaded with tender clams instead of mostly potatoes. The one-and-a-half-pound lobster was sweet, tender, and practically melted in my mouth. I wasn't in love with my pasta dish. The scallops, however, completely stole the show. They tasted as though they had been pulled from the ocean just moments before being cooked perfectly fresh, sweet, and delicate. Unfortunately, the pasta itself was undercooked and lacked flavor, even after the Parmesan cheese finally arrived. The strawberry shortcake was the perfect dessert on a hot Fourth of July afternoon. It was light, fresh, and exactly what we wanted to finish the meal. And the oysters? Absolutely phenomenal. Every single day. They were consistently fresh, delicious, and one of the main reasons we kept coming back. While the service has plenty of room for improvement, the kitchen is doing something truly special. The quality of the seafood alone was enough to make us return day after day, and that's about the highest compliment I can give a restaurant.
