I ordered a mai tai, which was simply outstanding and we also had garlic shrimp as well as garlic, chicken, as well as adobo pork fried rice. Joey's has two locations: This one in Napili in a small shopping center, and one in Whaler's Village in Lahaina. They serve hearty Flip food, in a casual setting with a whole lot of aloha & mabuhay. I ordered the lechon plate, while the HTC (Hawai'i Travel Companion) had the short ribs ($30.50 | not pictured). The lechon was crispy, tender and flavorful. When I asked for Mang Tomas, the nice lady brought it right away. The dish was so rich, I couldn't finish the rice. I had a bite of the short rib, and it was super tender and sarap! The veggies were fresh & crunchy, and paired well with the savory beef. The lady next to us changed her order when she saw the dish arrive. She told us she was glad she did. Regarding the ambiance, its very casual. You order at the counter, and they bring your food to you. Joey's was packed on a Wed night, even though it was less than one hour away to closing. The staff is so nice and friendly. Hats off to chef Joey Macadangdang, a Filipino braddah, who is making a splash in the local restaurant scene. My fiance requested a meat and rice plate after he saw some yummy looking ones nearby at a food truck that unfortunately only took cash. I saw the reviews for this place and figured this must be the go-to spot. Even Guy loves it and I love Guy! We dropped in around 6:30pm and it was busy. Very minimal seating so we decided to take it to our nearby Airbnb. I ordered the shrimp plate and my fiance got the garlic chicken plate. I was pleasantly surprised with mine. The shrimp had great flavor. It just sucks that you get only 5 shrimps for a little over $25. I was hoping there was be Mac salad or something with it but there wasn't. This left me hungry after my meal which is unfortunate because by the time we were done all the restaurants were basically closing up already. The reason for the low ranking besides the portion was my fiancé's meal. I have actually never seen him not eat almost his entire meal. He'll get 95% of the way done even for food he doesn't like. He left half the chicken on this plate and told me straight up it was not good. His did come with Mac salad, which he ate the entirety of. Something to note here is that he does NOT like Mac salad. We loved this place and double backed on it two days in a row. They had a good playlist going the first day we went. We were jamming while we waited for our food to come. Probably one of the best Westside Maui restaurants in the Napili/Kapalua area for the flavor and value. We went on a busy Friday night, and they do a fair amount of takeout. The inside seating is fairly informal, but my wife and I grabbed a spot at the bar without a wait. Had a fantastic old fashioned and Pog cocktail, and we split the Garlic Chicken, basil fish with noodles, and the best Parmesan Caesar roasted brussel sprouts. Loved the beer selections so had another one during my meal. I ordered the Braised Beef Shortribs which was super tender and delicious but, the star of the night were the Brussell Sprouts. We've been attempting to try places to eat that wasn't on our radar in the past. As such we decided we'll try here based on a friend's favorite eats. Today we arrived at 12 noon on a Sunday. The line was out the door. Now what. I spotted the QR code taped to the front entrance. We'll just order to go. Which is what we did. Ordered: * crispy pata (pigs knuckle) * shrimp pancit (noodles) * garlic chicken The order process was easy and convenient. I paid using Apple Pay. The system said 20 minutes. We went to the supermarket a few doors down to kill time. Once 20 minutes was exceeded we went over to the pick up area. Gave my name. The order was ready. We went back to our resort to chow down. The pata was good size even though the menu said small. The pork skin was crispy. And the pork meat was tender. Came with two scoops rice. The garlic chicken was battered. But the garlic taste was lacking but meat favorable. We got three shrimp with the stir fry noodles. I'd probably skip this dish next time. Was a small serving size and didn't have much umami. Really loved our meal from Joey's! The adobo was really flavorful and the meat was super tender. We loved the lumpia, which were like a Shanghai style. The adobo fried rice was also a big hit. One of my favorite parts of the meal was the side of macaroni salad - some of the best I had on my trip! The inside of the place was small but packed with seating. We walked in just short of closing and were graciously invited to sit inside where there are a few intimate tables and a couple family style benches. We ordered a few different items kale salad for the vegetarian. Fish and chips and Loco Moco two classics. Ladies Hawaii Trip 2024, Joey's was our first meal... Pros- very close to our hotel. Brussel Sprouts and Chicken Chow Fun were pretty tasty. Cons- while we had tasty Brussel Sprouts and chow fun, I've definitely had better elsewhere of all the dishes we ordered. The lumpia were just ok (huge disappointment - I love lumpia!), the garlic shrimp dish was overcooked and came way late (they were forgotten under the heat lamps for a while and it showed in the taste and texture). The loco Moco lacked salt, and I'm not one for overly salty food, just enough to enhance the natural flavor(s) of dishes. I think I may have ordered the wrong dishes... the bbq kal-bi ribs and crispy pata that other tables had did look really good. When we arrived, we walked right up to the counter, no line. While we were there though, the line went out the door and around the corner, so they must be doing something right. Unfortunately, as a first meal and a list spot for me, I was honestly disappointed in our overall meal. I felt cheated out of a delicious meal opportunity since time is limited and I do have quite a few other list spots on Maui that I want to try for the first time, as well as a few list spot repeats. Horrible experience! First, website makes it look like a legit sit down restaurant. Nope, you order at the counter, then wait for sub-par delivery of your mediocre at best meal. Then for a family of four, they brought out each entree several minutes after each other with the last one coming out 30 minutes after the first, which we then asked for it to go. That was the crispy pork belly. Once we got to the car we figured it should be tried prior to leaving the parking lot and we immediately turned around and gave it back to them. Dry, no seasoning and not worth the price. The food trucks we have been eating at for the past week have been way better than this over priced, joke of a restaurant. Stopped-in for dinner on our recent trip to Maui. We always enjoy dining at Joey's, whether it's at his Napili restaurant or the one at Whaler's in Lahaina. The food is always delicious and the service is very good. As we arrived, there was a small line waiting to order, but the line moved quickly. We used that time to scan the menu, so we knew what we wanted. We placed our order and found a table inside to dine at. Per usual, it was crowded and all the customers appeared to be enjoying their dinners. I ordered the Loco Moco, my wife ordered the Garlic Chicken, our oldest son enjoyed his Fish & Chips and our youngest son devoured his Pork Adobo. They had some really good alcohol selection -I am talking high end as well as hard to find and we were instantly impressed. we had originally placed a take-out order but after seeing the alcohol options decided to also hang out and have a drink . We visited Joey's Kitchen Napili for lunch on a friday afternoon. It's located in a plaza so there's plenty of parking. When we arrived around 12:45 PM, the restaurant was quite full but we were able to snag a table by the window. When you arrive, you'll first place your order at the podium. They have their menu available right on the wall so it's easy to see/browse. Then, you'll find your seat and they'll bring your order to you. The Garlic Chicken ($17.50) was delicious. Not sure if I really got a whole lot of garlic flavor there, but I loved the aioli drizzle. With the mac and rice, this was a pretty filling meal. The crispy pork belly ($18.50) was perfectly crispy and they do give a good amount. We had enough of both to take home for a snack later. Along with indoor tables (both smaller tables for small groups/families and larger community tables), they also had some seating outside. Spacious wooden table accommodated my group of eight nicely. Staff were always within earshot of our requests (sometimes spoken in Tagalog.) Between their familiar food & the camaraderie of my family & friends, I felt instantly comfortable in Joey's Kitchen. The menu, written on a chalkboard, listed a variety of dishes inspired by the islands. Items I tried: -- Garlic Chicken ($18.50): doused in a couple different sauces though still crispy & served with white rice. One note - their less-than-flavorful mac salad was the weak point in our entire meal. -- Pork Adobo Fried Rice ($12.50): incredibly robust in flavor & peppered with chunks of meat. -- Loco Moco ($21.50): not my order, but I ate a fair amount because I couldn't stop; so much savory goodness! I asked for ice and got a grunt and then a cup of ice set down on the table with a little too much force and not a word spoken. Felt a little tense.
