TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I booked in advance on the phone speaking to their AI System and there was no way for me to book with an actual human. The AI told me I was confirmed for Saturday 8am-3pm booking window. I got confirmation emails and text messages. We have been waiting, and called up to see the ETA and the RUDE woman who answered the phone said we have to reschedule you. I asked why, and they said 'because we are already fully booked and next time to book in advance'. I told them I booked 3 days ago, and got confirmations that a technician would be here. They kept cutting me off while I was speaking!! They were extremely rude and kept blaming their AI system for their mistake, saying that after hours their AI takes over and they aren't really part of that system. What does that even mean! Its YOUR AI ON YOUR PHONE LINE. If my appointment needed to be rescheduled WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED!!!! WHY IS IT UP TO THE CUSTOMER TO CALL TO FIND OUT THEIR APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELED!!! Whatever you do, don't hire this company for your home furnace or AC system! We've had three AC system failures due to the improper installation and maintenance of our home AC system by this contractor. They don't have any knowledge or expertise in anything electrical related to your home furnace or ac system As a result of their failure to identify that the incorrect breakers were installed, that were 40 amp when the unit specifically says it required a 30 amp breaker and 35 amp maximum installed! We had a compressor failure after just two years and they charged us $3,000 labor for the replacement. But they failed to notice the problem with the wrong breakers and wiring ! Then a few months later we had another failure and they told us to "call an electrician " which we did . The electrician found that the technician hadn't tightened a high voltage wire connection and it arcing inside the box for about a month or two before it burned out completely! The company refused to give any refund ! Then less than 20 months later another compressor failure! We hired a new contractor and they immediately saw that the breakers were incorrect , the wiring should have been 8 gauge not ten gauge as well ! We are lucky our home didn't burn down! We hired All Stars Plumbing and heating and air out of Bellflower and they corrected everything and installed a new compressor in one day. Everything was fine by a journeyman electrician and HVAC certified technician and done correctly. I spoke with one of the owners of John Stevenson and they said " we're sorry you're experiencing so many problems with your system but we aren't taking any responsibility for it " Don't waste your time and money with John Stevenson Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning Company they claim they don't know anything about electrical codes or requirements! read more

This company used to be great. Used to have competitive pricing and good service. I have been a loyal customer since 2021 and have spent $30K+ on a handful of HVAC and plumbing projects at my home. I even signed up for their monthly subscription service when it was rolled out a few years ago. For the last 18 months or so, I have really struggled to get these people to show up for my scheduled appointments. This has happened more than 5 times now and I am officially canceling and moving to another company. Today is the last straw as my mini split is not blowing cold air and I have a guest that will be sleeping in that room this weekend. I had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday and they pushed it to today (Thursday) and did not show up or even call. I am not surprised at all to see the other negative reviews lately. I was told almost everything in my house was in need of a replacement with plenty of scare tactics and appealing to emotions. I had a leak in one of my 2nd floor bathrooms that was dripping into the room below. I called John Stevenson and they were very responsive and got a pro out that day to evaluate. He did diagnose the problem and fixed it the next day. However, he also went through the entire house looking for other problems. While this may sound helpful, it seemed like a way to get more money out of you. One of the things they said was that my main line needed a complete re-pipe and a new water pressure valve. Due to the leaky ceiling I didn't have time to get a second opinion on the main line re-pipe. So I ended up getting it fixed, but I really wish I had the time to get a second opinion. It was a $2000 fix on top of the $2000 leak fix and I felt bullied into getting it. They also tried to charge a total of another $6000 for a summation of various things like a toilet that runs and replacing a faucet in one of the other bathrooms. Supposedly the toilet running would require a completely new toilet. This I knew enough to refuse but I still don't have a good feeling about the mail line repipe. I rarely write reviews, but I've had enough with John Stevenson Plumbing. I was originally a customer of Complete Comfort before John Stevenson Plumbing purchased the company. Since then, the service has gone downhill. Whatever you do, think twice before purchasing their monthly or yearly subscription plan -- they have not honored their commitments in my experience. They failed to show up for my last two scheduled appointments. This past summer, they were supposed to service my A/C. I rearranged my schedule and took the day off to accommodate their afternoon service window. I received no call, no update, nothing. When I finally called them, I was told the technician got stuck at another job. I understand that delays happen -- but a simple courtesy call and rescheduling would have gone a long way. This week, I had another appointment scheduled to service my tankless water heater. Once again, they did not show up and did not call. Complete silence. I also recently stepped in to help my retired neighbor, and in my opinion, they took advantage of her by selling her services and items she did not need. That is extremely concerning. Senior citizens deserve honesty and respect, not high-pressure sales tactics. Proceed with caution. read more

If you're thinking of hiring this company be VERY wary, as I cannot recommend them at all. I've been a customer for years now, only because they took over the company that installed my current HVAC system (Complete Comfort). I signed up for their "Charlie Care Club" service plan briefly until I realized it was just a tool they used to enter your home and upsell certain repairs and/or upgrades at inflated prices. However, my most recent experience was the straw that broke the camel's back. The condensate removal pump under my furnace had (unbeknownst to me) stopped working and was overflowing. I discovered this after it had seeped into the adjacent office room and soaked into a portion of the carpet. I called the company for what should have been a quick, simple, and affordable job (remove inoperable pump and replace with new pump). I thought it was unusual when TWO techs showed up from the company. One proceeded to work on the furnace while the other inexplicably walked around checking the air vents and looking at the duct-work in my attic. I observed the one guy giving a lot of attention to the electronic circuitboard, pulling wires and so forth. The other one tried to tell me about ways that the ducts could be modified to improve air flow. Together, they spent an undue amount of time on site without even removing the dead pump! Eventually, they both went out to their truck, presumably to confer with headquarters. When they returned I was told it would cost me $600 to get a new pump and install it! I balked at the quote and the techs left. That night I tried to turn the A/C on to cool the house. For the first time this summer it did NOT turn on! In the morning I called the company and was referred to a supervisor. He was totally unsympathetic to my situation, saying that the techs had told him I was combative and he was concerned about safety issues if he sent a different tech out! He told me I would need to look elsewhere for repair work as he refused to hold his company responsible for my entire HVAC system being dead. As a result, I will NEVER call John Stevenson for plumbing or HVAC service again... read more

I bought a new Goodman/ Daikin 3-ton HVAC and had all new ceiling ducting installed early 2021. 5 years later I had a problem getting the Furnace to start up. The original Company I bought the unit from was bought-out or merged with John Stevenson Plumbing. I called John Stevenson for service and a young gentleman named Hunter arrived on time. He diligently took a good 90 minutes to assess the unit although 3 times he spent a good 15 minutes back at the truck . He finally came to advise my wife and I that we needed a new unit. He provided a $16k, $19k and $21k option. I said Goodman provided a 10 year warranty that I confirmed I had registered for. He said that given my issues, Goodman/Daikin would not honor the warranty and as such he would not be able/willing to advocate on my behalf. He said if i agreed to authorize a new install today, he would go to his boss and maybe get me $2,000 off; but, I had to sign today so he had enough leverage with the boss to get the discount. I asked how much it would cost to just get it running even if it may not have significant longevity going forward. He said $7,000-$8,000. I of course said no, and that I needed to do my usual due-diligence on my next steps. He said he would call me a few days later. The next day I called a different HVAC Company that some friends had worked with recently. This company came and reissured me they would have no problem with the Warranty. They ended up replacing a Pressure Transducer (based on a warning light description that appears on a "motherboard" type indicator" and got it up and running with a total fee of $452 (labor cost as the part was covered through warranty). Needless to say, my future business is going with this other firm. I'll certainly share my opinions with friends and family who ask. Make sure to get multiple bids. But when I called the phone number from the invoice the guy said John Stevenson and I asked if it used to be Complete Comfort and he didn't have any clue. Yet I see on Yelp and Facebook looks like they had a name change... still how could you still have your old name out there AND not train your employees answering phone call. Also the first call went to AI anyways so makes me wonder if the representative who answered the ohone is a call center for multiple HVAC companies instead of one. Update: My floor has been repaired. They were unable to replace the damaged planks so Complete Comfort covered the cost to replace the entire floor in my laundry room. They are still unwilling to provide me with a detailed invoice but Chris has assured me that repair charges are based on the type of repair and that I was not overcharged. I was charged $4,179.25 to install a $522.59 coil. The installers were at my house 3 hours. Part of that time was spent trying to clean up the blue adhesive they spilled on my floor and baseboards. Attached are pictures of the estimate, floor and baseboards. I contacted my AC manufacturer for warranty repair information. I was told Complete Comfort in Lake Forest is an authorized warranty repair for my unit. Since Google and Yelp showed high ratings for this establishment, I scheduled service with them. On 4/25/23 their technician determined my coil had a leak; it was not covered under warranty. I paid a 10% deposit and scheduled the install for 4/26/23. I contacted Complete Comfort to request a detailed bill with parts and labor costs. Chris told me they do not provide detailed bills with parts and labor costs. I was told they do not charge by the hour but by the type of repair. Chris stated the installers would tell me the cost of the part at the install. When I asked the installers, they did not know the cost. The installers were at my house for 3 hours, part of that time was spent trying to clean up the blue adhesive they had spilled. I asked the installers for something in writing stating my flooring would be restored to pre-install condition I received nothing. Once the installers left, I received a courtesy call from Complete Comfort. When asked if I was satisfied with the job, I said absolutely NOT because the installers had spilled adhesive on my floor. I was then connected to Chris and we discussed the floor damage and I again ask for something in writing stating the floor and baseboards would be repaired. I have received NOTHING. Chris stated they have a drywall guy who does flooring and he would be contacting me. Their repair person has canceled our appointment three times and has set yet another appointment for tomorrow. They are planning to try to clean the floor. I'm not sure what he is planning to do with the thumb size chunk of missing flooring the installers tore out. I also told Chris his installers did not know the part cost. Chris told me it was $522.59. I asked if that meant installation cost was $3,656.66. I was told there is a lot involved with replacing a coil. I told him the installers were only at my home for 3 hours. I realize there is a cost for coolant however I feel I was overcharged because I am a senior woman. read more

Horrible business. Company charged us for a 2 stage condenser but installed a single stage condenser. This is a price difference of $900. We have all of the documentation to back this claim. Chris who is the service manager/middle management admitted the mistake and only offered us a useless service package valued at $12.99/month for 1 year. That's a grand total of $156 to make up for a $900 charge. On top of the $900 they had our thermostat wired for a 2 stage condenser so our air conditioning ran inefficiently for 3 years meaning our electrical bills were likely significantly higher than they should have been. Chris repeatedly told us there is nothing he can do for us and tried to push the phone call off to tomorrow when I pushed back on him and asked to speak to the owner. Two great service visits. When the AC went out we called and the tech was very patient, courteous and helpful. He told us that they could try and fix the fan motor, but no guarantee the system would work. We discussed the 18+ year old unit we had and looked at the replacement alternatives. No pressure; simply a well-informed and clear presentation of the available alternatives. We decided to replace our very old (in AC years) unit and although it was easily a 2 day job, the pleasant, hardworking duo arrived right on time and got to work immediately. After a very short break they worked into the afternoon and were done around 3pm. We had a problem with our previous AC company, they came out to do a simple annual maintenance on our AC which turned into a 3 hour nightmare. Our AC was only 4 years old and worked perfectly before the "service" was done by the old company and when they left the AC didn't work leaving us stranded with no AC in the 103f weather. Not trustworthy. Charged for changing nest thermostat and they just reinstalled the old one. Threw away/ lost our custom reusable AC filter and replaced with a Mickey Mouse pieced together with duct tape. Their resolution was to provide 6 disposable filters, but couldn't replace our reusable one. They Closed dampers & left them closed so that we had to figure out why the AC was not working without having to make another service call; also, when they installed the wiring, they stapled it down so the current wasn't running through; it took an electrician under the general contractor to fix it. These people wanted us to replace the whole AC unit. Get out of here with the multiple rip off attempts. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. read more

After further inspection they didn't replace the water pump the first time they fixed the AC unit last year. Almost a year later it breaks. They realize the air filter cover was missing and clogging. I had warranty on the pump (pump that was never replaced?). They replaced the pump and now attaching the filter cover. $770 later. More than $1k of work in 365 days. Crazy. Had an emergency last night--leaking pipe out of my AC unit. I requested quotes from a couple of businesses and Michael responded. He explained to me that he could be there tomorrow (today) from 11am-12pm. I told him that was ok. This morning, at around 730am, i sent him my address and he said that that slot was taken and was available from 1-2pm. I scheduled work and coordinated with my wife to ensure one of us would be at our house so it didnt work out. I'm not sure why he booked an appointment in that time frame when we agreed on it last night--i'll go with someone more dependable. Update: 7/21/2017 11:05pm I don't understand why Michael doesn't understand why I rated them one-star based on our interaction. I clearly had a bad experience with him and his company and would never use them under any circumstance. He made an extremely stressful situation (1-inch of standing water, trying to get AC repair guy out, trying to get a restoration repair guy out to my home, getting time off of work and coordinating with my wife and her work for someone to be at home during that time frame) even more stressful. To me, that's really simple. In his PMs, he said I should have looked at the time frames for information required to book an appointment--i explained to him that I was messaging him and as a representative of the company (and as the owner) I relied on what he was messaging me. Before I went to bed I was under the impression that the time was booked. Day of the appointment comes and my spouse waits 2 hours for the technician to come to clean our HVAC unit, they never come. The AC in my apartment was leaking, and the maintenance people sent out my apartment complex's office didn't seem to know exactly what was happening. I decided to call in a professional to take a look and get a proper diagnosis. After some searching, I found Complete Comfort Heating and Air on Yelp. I gave them a call, and they were able to schedule an appointment with someone the very next day. The next day, I received a call from Michael confirming that the technician Eric would be visiting my home within an hour window. Very soon, I also got a call from Eric himself - he had gotten done with an earlier job sooner than expected, and he kindly offered to come early to take a look at the AC. Eric showed up just 20 minutes after our phone call, and was professional, polite, and friendly. After I filled him in on all the details, he got to work. He instantly identified some problem points in the installation, and very soon thereafter pointed out a large hole in the condensate drain pan that had resulted as a combination of a bad weld and corrosion over time. After some advice, he offered to get me a quote for the replacement, as a repair would not be possible with how badly the pan had corroded. I was upfront with him that I would not be purchasing a replacement as I was renting, but that I would gladly take a quote and then present it to the property management company alongside his diagnosis of the problem so that they could take action. Eric whipped up a quote in no time, explained all the benefits of Complete Comfort's warranty, and the details of the replacement. Calling Eric over to provide me a detailed diagnosis, quote, and extensive advice as to my options only cost me a measly $69. Called them to fix a leaky kitchen range hood exhaust duct that was blowing cooking odors from light fixtures, ceiling cavity etc. Eric arrived on time, diagnosed the job quickly - the exhaust ductwork was improperly connected behind drywall by previous owner and so the hood was venting into the space between joists. They gave me a fair quote to repair it right away, I agreed and ~3 hours later the ducts were removed, realigned and connected with loads of adhesive/tape and vented nicely to outside the house. He also did the repair in a clever way to minimize holes in the drywall and avoid disturbing the cabinets. I could see the job was done carefully and the joints were fixed robustly. What I also highly appreciate is that they did the job right away and didn't reschedule for another day etc....and saved me time. From the Sunday call back to take care of our A/C unit that went out in 100 degree weather to the prompt response, emergency service a few hours later to a complete brand new installation. Eric and his teammates were friendly, professional efficient, and so meticulous in making sure everything looked great and clean after install. I never write reviews here, but felt I needed to as our service was outstanding! Complete Comfort Heating and Air was the most professional & on point service company we have worked with in a really long time. Their high Yelp ratings were the reason we decided to book with them, and we were 100% satisfied with their customer service. Easiest process ever. Krystal helped to set up our appointment time, and we were scheduled for only 1 business day after our initial call (not a critical air conditioning need), which is amazing for the summer time. She was so friendly and being that she is the initial contact customers have with the business, they definitely hired the right person. Travis was our technician and was extremely personable & educated, making the process stress free and easy. He gave us a courtesy call before he arrived, showed up on time, and was professional. He also took ample time to explain the issues occurring and what he recommended. I would definitely refer this company to anyone who has air conditioning and heating needs.
