This was a super disappointing dinner! The BAKED CHEESE TORTELLONI was burnt and the entire dish smelled like burned food, it was terrible. As soon as I opened the container the wave of burnt smell was overwhelming and I find it hard to the believe the cook didnt know he was sending me $24 burnt pasta. The bread that came with dinner was a baguette and it was as hard as a rock, also inedible. My hubby liked his lasagna, but I'll never spend my money here again. The quality control is obviously non existent! I seen a TV ad. 3 for 12.99 that included a ribeye steak, alfredo, and nachos. I've been a butcher for ten years, so I know beef cuts very well. We definitely didn't get ribeye steaks. When I complained about it to the manager, her comment was sorry that's what our general manager supplies us with, he cuts it himself. That was the end of the conversation. I was expecting her to take my name down and forward the complaint to the general manager. Instead she just walked away. Big disappointment! Will never go back. read more

We went there for dinner tonight. It took a while to be seated, even though it wasn't very busy The food was fine. Nothing spectacular. I got the cheese raviolis. My daughter got the meat combo. I was surprised that nothing came with it like soup or salad., it was extra. They did you bring bread but it was served in a paper bag, kind of tacky way to serve it. Our waiter was good and the meal came quickly. The place really needed a good cleaning the tables and floors need to be redone, there is not much atmosphere needs a paint job and redone. And be there in years. Used to be such a great place very Italian but now it's kind of a letdown not a place I'll be going back to. read more

Two parties walked in after us and called the host stand to get someone's attention. Came here to enjoy an early dinner Saturday. Service was great keyra took good care of us and was very attentive. She is the key to returning for us. The ambiance was pretty quaint not bad but could use a refresh in scenery. Food was pretty decent wasn't great nor awful. I ordered the lobster ravioli, which was good. The sauce was a little too watery but other than that it was fine. The drink selection could be worked on. Horrible experience at Carino's Modesto. 35 minutes wait. Bath rooms Disgusting. Italian Natchez we're burnt and greasy. Seafood fettuccine had a horrible presentation. Egg plant Parmesan and lasagna we're good. Server was nice. My daughter had Spaghetti And she said it was the best she ever had. I went to cut up her meat ball and it was completely raw inside, we all lost are Appetite. We showed raw meat to server and he apologized but could at least took the meat ball off the bill. we paid $80 for are food!! I wish the server would have gave us a discount or gift card. I came here for my cousins birthday dinner back in March 2019. When I arrived I noticed the building had an old Italian theme. The host was pleasant and we told him that we had a table reserved. The main part of the restaurant was pretty tight and didn't have a lot of space, I seen spider was on the corners of the restaurant. We were early and my cousin hadn't arrived yet, so we sat at the bar and had 1 drink. The bar tender was attentive and made great drinks. After our drinks the rest of our party arrived. We sat at the area that was reserved for us and waited on our waitress. She finally showed up and started asking which drinks we wanted and if we wanted appetizers. She wasn't very friendly and didn't seem to appreciate her job. After waiting almost 15 minutes we finally received our drinks. We ordered our entrees, the waitress stated that they had "unlimited shrimp". I ordered the unlimited shrimp and it included ribs. It took nearly 30 minutes for our meals to come, luckily we had the appetizers. After my meal finally cancer we started eating, I finished my shrimp and they asked if I wanted more, which I obliged. Time passes by and I never got another batch of shrimp. I had to find the waitress and ask for more. Once she finally came back, I also asked for another drink as well. It took her almost 15 minutes. She finally brings the shrimp. My aunt also had the same meal and waited for her shrimp, my aunt stated " I ordered shrimp as well". The waitress said "those are for both of you guys". I interjected and told her that we are paying separately and need to have our OWN shrimp. The waitress comes and brings my aunt 6 little shrimp. After all that we ask for our bill, which took nearly another 20 minutes to receive. We check our bill and see that we were charged "tips" this waitress did NOT deserve a tip. I feel like a "tip" is earned, especially one for nearly $20. I don't think I'll ever eat her again. My bill was nearly $140 including that waitress's "tip" that she didn't deserve. I suggest paying cash next time. The only reason they are getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the bar and great bartender. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went there for the 1st time because of the commercial they have on tv.. everything looks so good. Don't let that commercial fool you. I ordered the scampi and steak they advertise. It was almost insulting when it came to the table. The portion was tiny and NO!! the shrimp scampi was rediculous... the steak was unbelievably tiny.. not even 3 Oz. NO flavor. The margaritas I got was horrible!! Could not even drink it. We just finished eating a great dinner at Johnny Carino's Modesto, Ca. Everything was perfect. All 4 of us had different salads, and all were great. The bread was crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and the dipping olive oil with fried garlic pieces was delicious. We all had different entrees, ribeye steak, ribs, shrimp scampi, and all were delicious. We had Italian sodas that were refreshing. No room for dessert, this time. We will definitely be back. We were shocked that it wasn't busier. But we were a little earlier than the dinner crowd. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms clean, and staff & cooks did a great job. After waiting for the hostess to finish her phone call we asked to be seated to which she replied that there was only one server and that it would be 20 min at least. I have celics disease and I looked at the menu at the location where I was going to eat and the website said they had food I could eat, so I went and then when I sat down and asked about gluten free items they didn't have any and so I ended up having a burger wrapped in lettuce bit they messed up my salad. Just don't. My husband and I rarely get to go out (work schedules, kids etc) So we look for new places to try. I normally do reviews like this: the good, the bad and ideas for change. Unfortunately this time, there are no positives. We got a flier in the mail with a coupon/deal for Johnny Carino's today. We saw the $10 deal which includes italian nachos, steak, beverage and pasta (or fries) So we went with that. It was our first time here and it was apparent very quickly they are all about the bar. It was very loud in there, there were at least 10 tv's going as well as music. Our server brought us silverware and breadplates (but no bread, more about this in bit) We both got coffee and water. We needed a spoon to stir in the cream etc, but no spoon was brought (we had to ask for it) The coffee was on par with gas station coffee. Still no bread. Brought out the chicken nachos, they were ok. This is likely a bar food and it was ok, but not something I'd order again. (We had a different person bring the nachos out) Then, before we're done with the nachos, our dinner hits. The plate they brought mine on couldn't have been any dirtier. I don't know if they plated it on a dirty plate, or what happened...but the whole bottom and sides were filthy with greasy black smears. My husbands steak came blood red when he ordered medium. Asked 3rd time for bread...still no bread. After the "manager" went and talked to the staff (hey guys, some of us speak spanish! You were in earshot as well as in my line of vision!) they were laughing about it all. He had them refire the steak and goodness knows, but i'm betting they just moved my food from one plate to another. They brought the food back, at least the plate was clean, my husbands steak was close to medium. The manager now comes over and "apologizes for the inconvenience" and agreed that the plate should either be hand scrubbed or thrown. But that was it, no discount, no free dessert, nothing. Right after he leaves, now TWO of them bring bread. (and it wasn't worth waiting for either, likely a frozen loaf warmed and sliced) Steak was "ok" didn't (and won't) eat the pasta as it was on the dirty plate. The chicken nachos had lunch meat in them? It looks like deli sliced chicken from the grocery store. The serve staff was sloppy, slow and unobservant. Never again. Yes, it's a deal for $10 but...then again...not so much. I'd recommend you pass too. read more

Chicken Scallopini is my favorite dish at Carino's. I try not to eat a lot of carbs, so I've been ordering it over broccoli instead of pasta. I realized that the scallopini sauce was very watery with the broccoli in it. So this time I ordered the broccoli on the side. Well. Last night my boyfriend and I came here for dinner. We came around 7pm and there surprisingly was no wait to be seated. Not long after being seated, we received breadsticks that came in a paper bag. I would've preferred a plate but whatever. The breadsticks were solid and then we ordered drinks and our meal. I got the sangria and chicken Alfredo and my boyfriend got the margarita and bbq chicken pizza. My pasta was probably the worst pasta I've ever had, which is surprising because it's pretty hard to mess up Alfredo. The best way I can describe my pastas taste, is to compare it to those TV dinners sold at the grocery store in the frozen isle for a dollar. There was no seasoning whatsoever and the chicken was as pale as can be. I took it home to try to fix it up and add some seasoning and all that really did was make it edible. My drink was decent but mainly tasted like juice. My boyfriend said his pizza was ok as the crust wasn't good. His margarita was decent as well. The only thing that saved this review from being one star was our server as she was extremely nice. Other than that, we will not be returning. read more

Went there for lunch this is the 1st time I've been there thought I'd give it a try what a disappointment. The restaurant was practically empty and we still had to wait 10 minutes to get seated. We were taken to a table that was so filthy you could literally scrape the filth off with your nails. We each ordered a simple dish: my lunch companion ordered a soup and I ordered a salad. The soup was brought to the table 1st and I waited another 10 minutes before I got my salad and I had to ask a different waitress to get it for me because my waitress was now behind the bar helping a different customer. The food for being so simple was incredibly disappointing for the price. My wedge salad was old the only thing good about it was the cheese. The tomatoes were old and tasted like they'd been frozen. The soup was Minestrone and it was probably the weakest soup I've ever tasted. I had high hopes for this restaurant unfortunately I will not waste my money or time there again. read more

2nd closest place from my house to enjoy a beer and watch football, the reason why I come here is because they revamped the bar with a huge draft beer selection and multiple 80inch tv's for sports. Steven behind the bar is always on point and understands customer service even during lunch or dinner rushes! And can shoot the bay with you if you want to talk sports. First time here and the staff seemed to be a little aloof. Communication between staff was lacking. It was a Saturday night and they had a pretty steady flow of customers, but they had limited seating but no tables were blocked off (no signage).
