Lived in area 17 years and this my first time here. Seating/Dining area was clean and it was nice and cool on this hot day. Both employees behind the counter were extremely nice and ready to take your order, which was multiple Hot Dogs, Fries and soda to go. Placed order and it was ready in under 5 minutes (I ordered at 2pm so not so busy). The dogs were fantastic as well as the nice portion of fries. They have several other options on the menu as well. Great place to visit if you don't think COVID-19 spreads. Called in an order for pick up, was told it would be 15 minutes. We changed the order so waited 15 minutes after the change be before arriving.. Then waiting inside for TWENTY MINUTES along with a number of other people. "105 is here" said the young lady at the front...which means that's when they START making your order. My wife explained when I got home that's what they've done 3 other times she's ordered take-out. Oh yeah a guy that walked in a minute after I arrived--ordered at the register and he got his food ---you guessed it----a minute after I got mine. Clerks wearing masks? NOPE. Customers wearing masks About 50%. Oh and that 50% not wearing masks are of course the people not practicing 2 feet of social distancing let alone 6. Just in yesterday and everyone was wearing masks. Tables were appropriately blocked off for social distancing. I saw no problems with their Covid measures. The one star review from four moths ago is unfair. Everyone was friendly. The food was great, packed well and piping hot. We had a big order and nothing was missing. After running all over Chicagoland on Saturday without eating a single thing, I was desperate to get something in my stomach. Upon leaving Caputo's, I spotted Johnny's and thought "That'll do, pig. That'll do." I walked inside, and without hesitation decided on a Chicago style dog with fries (and a cup for water). I told the cashier I wanted everything on it. At that point she asked "Celery salt?" She caught me off guard and it took a moment before I could blurt out a "yes, please." I figured most people would request no tomatoes or sport peppers, as everywhere else I go the cashiers will double check if I want either item on my dog. But celery salt? Really? How many people in south Naperville are so offended by celery salt that it has trumped the question about wanting hot peppers or tomatoes? After paying for my order, I took a seat in a booth. There were two other parties eating; both looked close to finishing their meals. It was a bit quiet in there. I noticed that even though a "now open" sign hung outside (giving the impression that this is a new place), the booth I happened to be sitting in had seen better days. I think there was more green tape on the bench seat than the original material. Less than two minutes after I ordered, my number was called. After snapping a picture of my food, I surveyed the grub. The crinkle cut fries were pretty darn good. Piping hot, not overly salted, and had the perfect crunch. I was pleased. The hot dog came on a poppy seed bun, which looked like it was oversteamed. The tomato slices overtook the rest of the ingredients so I ended up picking them off. Onions, mustard, sport peppers, and celery salt were a-okay. The relish was not the bright green kind you see on an authentic Chicago Style 'dog, but a very sweet generic tasting one. The pickle slice was not a pickle but a thin slice of cucumber. While I do enjoy cucumbers, I don't care for them on my hot dogs. After my meal, I was still hungry. I decided against ordering something else and just went home. I wasn't overly impressed with Johnny's. For the price, you can get a dog and fries elsewhere for less. read more

After having an excellent Italian beef sandwich the other day at Nicky's, I decided to continue my odyssey and see if anyone in the area could match up or beat the one I had on Friday. Since I was going to be on 59 anyway I tried out Johnny's. While this was a good sandwich, I will say that it wasn't better than Nicky's. However, the seasoning was good and the gravy dip didn't cause the entire thing to melt into mush. Adding cheese was a good choice. The order came up quickly, though the place was pretty busy. Got swift, polite service from the young man at the counter (though he was practically drowned out by all the noise in the house. The place is small and was mostly families with kids, but they weren't the problem -- it was a table of four loudmouth girls. This is not the sort of place you expect to be able to do your zen meditation, but geez.) They also have hot dogs, gyros, subs, etc. Wouldn't be my first choice in the future, but not a bad option by far. read more

We love this place. Best beef sandwiches around. We have gotten catering from here many times and it has never disappointed. We came last week and I got the larger beef sandwich to share with my daughter and it was plenty for both of us. As others have said the crinkle fries are really better than the rest. First choice for our family when we want tasty beef sandwiches. Always been a huge fan of Johnny's!!! Their chicken Gorgonzola chopped salad is to die for. It truly puts Portillo's chop salad to shame. My family eats here often when we are in a crunch for dinner. Typically, we call in our order ahead of time which is nice so it's ready for pick up when we walk in. It's classic Chicago style food- great hot dogs, Italian beef, gyros! We recently catered Johnny's for a family great together and it did not disappoint. The caesar salad, mostaccioli, and chicken parmesan was delicious. The dishes were very hot! I went there yesterday for lunch. I had the number two special cheeseburger fries and a drink. It was like $10. It was the biggest and best hamburger I have ever had in my life. It came with a bag of french fries that would feed three people and a medium drink. This is my new favorite place. I went to Johnny's and tried the Hot Dog. The hot dog was on a soft bun and the hot dog itself had a nice snap and was well prepared. However the pickle itself was sliced a bit thick and I received the largest sport pepper I've ever seen on the hot dog. The peppers that were included were too hot and overpowered the rest of the flavor of the hot dog. Overall this was below average at best. While not terrible, I've certainly found better places to get a hot dog in Chicagoland. read more

Will definitely try their $1 hot dog deal and see if I change this review a bit. I got the gyro meal. The prices for the combos are a bit high (6-8 dollars each). They offer the standard - italian beef, hot dogs, burgers, italian sausage, gyro, salads, etc. Their fries are pretty good - crinkle type, possible a little on the salty side but very hot upon pick up at the counter which is great. The gyro had a good deal of meat, plenty of tzaziki sauce, plenty of onion and tomato. However, the taste just wasn't there. Not sure what it was, possibly a lack of seasoning on the meat? All in all, great for a quick bite or an unhealthy grill type meal. Kind of pricey, but will go back for $1 hot dog. If they do that right, it may be my go-to for Chicago style hot dogs when I'm in town! read more

Johnnys Rocks....we heart Johnnys This was a welcome addition to the south end of Naperville. In same strip as Melting Pot Fondue, in front of Caputos. Everything here is awesome. Vienna dogs, Italians sausage, gyros, italian beef, a proper cheesesteak, pepper & egg, homemade milkshakes...even love the fried chicken...we eat here at least once a week and haven't had a bad thing since they opened Small seating area, maybe 8-10 tables, very clean, efficient short order operation, free refills (so who cares how big the cup is), very kid friendly, they do offer catering but we have not tried that yet Really nice local people own this shop, previously owned a place in Cicero.
