This place is the go-to eating place for me and my friends when we want something appetizing and inexpensive. My favorite order is the 10-inch hot dog with fries and water. Look, I'm a transplanted Ohio gal. I used to travel and get philly cheese steaks in Philly. I am from the land where Penn Station cheese steaks are the best you can get. HOWEVER, John's Philly Grille, BAR NONE is the absolute utter best cheese steak you can get ANYWHERE. I was a true Penn station believer, Heck when I went back east I stopped to get one and I was so bitterly disappointed. I used to love them, until John's Philly Grille ruined them for me. Had to go to Huntington Beach yesterday so stopped in for a Cheese Steak, had the works and ordered 1/2 as I saw another one and they are big. Got it with hot peppers and added some of the garlic hot sauce the have on the tables. It got me fired up and cooled down with a couple glasses of iced tea. Kinda hidden spot in Seal Beach that has great cheese steaks. I order the whole John's special and its huge along with pizza fries. They bottle their own root beer and other sodas which are delicious. Also have a pepper sauce that goes great with the sandwiches. Desert wise they have Tastykakes straight from Philly, peanutbutter is the best. They also have ice cream I have never had. These were a favorite in my youth, Philly cheese steak. I used to get them in Hollywood. We split a whole cheesesteak with mushroom and I barely aye half of a half. Very good and fresh sandwiches. We tried both a hot sandwich and a cold "hoagie" sandwich, both were delicious. The hot sandwich we had to try was "The Works" cheese steak. It is stuffed with mushrooms, peppers, onions, cheese, hot peppers, and classic Philly steak. If you are coming to John's Philly Grille for a hot cheese steak, "The Works" is what you should try. The 6 inch half sandwich is more than enough for one person since it is stuffed to the max with all the right ingredients. The cold sandwich we tried was the club hoagie. This sandwich was stacked with turkey, bacon, fresh avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, and provolone cheese. Yum! Don't forget to try the Philly fries!! The food is made to order, so you know you are getting fresh and hot food. The service was excellent, very friendly and courteous. The guy that took our order even recommended trying the combo plates which ended up saving us a couple bucks. A large sandwich is good for two meals, so the price doesn't bother me. And for anyone that gives a Yelp review after only one experience should be banned.
