This is a cute little place, very fast service. There was a steady flow of customers both eating in and taking out. Onion rings and fries were very good. I asked for extra cheese on my Original Cheesesteak and it seemed like just a regular amount of cheese. Maybe other places have been more cheesy. This place uses provolone, but I'm more of a Cheese Whiz girl. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it had cubed chicken, possibly from US Foods. The sauce and cheese were ok but not something he would order again. Overall, it was a nice lunch but we were happy we'd only ordered half sandwiches since we didn't neccessarily want leftovers to eat the next day.

    Another happy meal at John's

I told you they are the best! Great value, happy people making the food. RIP Cosmic Subs

Quick and delicious cheese steak sandwich with lots of options. I'm not a cheese steak connoisseur so I can't really say if it's the best in town, but it hit the spot for me and just so happen to have the Eagles game on at the same time. Lots of interesting beverage options and small little dining area with outdoor dining as well. I'll definitely be back to try some other options. I got the half mushroom cheese steak sandwich and it was huge.

Steak or ground beef? It looks and feels like ground beef. I asked for extra half meat. Taste good. But I was expecting thinly sliced beef.

The service is always fast and friendly! I love this restaurant! My good buddy and I have eaten here multiple times every year for the past 20 years or so. Why do we eat here? Because every time I finish my sandwich (love the #4) I look at my good buddy and say "that was the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life!". It has meat and cheese and onions and peppers and I just want to inhale it it is sooo good! The shop has an ambiance, I am sure it does, but this place is about the sandwiches and the good people who serve them!

I must say i had many many good philly cheesesteaks but this place has made one of the best i ever had and i mean it! Get the the large, its soo much good stuff going on here. I ordered the number 4 "the works" and it was just fantastic, also got an order of onion rings which was good to and comes with ranch. They have a couple of TV's inside to watch games and they have a nice outside seating area. The bread was soft and plenty of meat inside with green peppers, mushrooms, onions and hot peppers, just incredible. The customer service was great and friendly. I got soda from the fountain machine which was flat and they corrected it right away changing what needed to be change to make it fresh tasting. John's is located behind the mc donalds so if you're coming down PCH its behind it. Definitely a place i will be back to try other items and you should to! You won't find a better philly cheesesteak!

Great Philly sandwiches. As good as Jim's Steak's on the south side of Philadelphia, but closer.

Ask the Community - John's Philly Grille

Will they sell me a few rolls?

I would suggest you ask them. They have a sign posted about what happens when they run out of rolls. Ask if they can make a special order of rolls for you from their distributor. Good luck 👍

THIS PLACE RIGHT HERE!!! All surrounding brunch spots... meet your match…read more This family-owned gem is about to take over the downtown brunch scene. My family and I stopped in on a Saturday around 10 a.m. The place was already packed with a line out the door, but don't let that scare you. The wait moved fast, and the staff ran that dining room like a well-oiled machine while somehow making you feel like you were a guest in their home. You order at the front, grab your number, then impatiently wait for greatness. Right away, the baristas were brewing, shaking, and stirring up some of the best drinks I've had in a long time. Matcha, mochas... Starbucks could NEVER. I ordered the banana strawberry matcha and an iced mocha. While I was at the counter, I obviously had to grab pastries because... self-control wasn't invited. The display alone had me ready to order 14 of 'em. I went with the tiramisu cookie, guava croissant, and strawberry cream croissant. Now for the main event. There were four of us, so naturally we ordered enough food for a small village. Savory pancakes, a bulgogi breakfast burrito with fries, steak and eggs, another breakfast burrito, and the Thai pizza. Yep. We came to eat. While we waited, I took in the atmosphere. The entire place felt warm and inviting. Sunlight poured through the windows, giving it the feeling of eating breakfast on your family's back patio. Just laughter, clinking forks, happy conversations, and those little "mmm" moments happening at every table. That's always a good sign. The Thai pizza hit the table first. Fresh out of the oven and straight to Flavor Town. The crust had to be handmade because there was no way something that good came from a freezer. The basil, sausage, and everything working together made this anything but your average pizza. It was different--in the best way possible. Five minutes later... Gone. Next up were the savory pancakes. At first glance, they looked simple. Then I took a bite. That little stack of fluffy pancakes topped with berry butter didn't even need syrup. THANK YOU for understanding that pancakes don't need to cover an entire plate to be memorable. These were soft, flavorful, perfectly sweet, and somehow disappeared before I could fully appreciate everything else on the plate. Speaking of everything else... The steamed eggs were light and fluffy. The hash browns? Listen... Whatever they're doing to those potatoes back there needs to be studied. They had the perfect golden crunch with this buttery goodness that made me question every hash brown I've ever eaten. Fried in beef tallow? Magic? I don't know. I just know I wanted another order immediately. The bacon deserved its own shoutout too. Fresh, crispy, and full of flavor--not bacon that was cooked at 5 a.m. and has been sitting around waiting for someone's Grand Slam order. This bacon had integrity. Then came the steak and eggs. The steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. I had absolutely no interest in sharing. But somehow the potatoes still managed to steal part of the spotlight. Again... Those potatoes. Give me 14 of those babies to go. The breakfast burritos were packed with flavor, but those crispy potatoes inside gave them the texture that took them from good to unforgettable. And that green aioli? Bottle that stuff up. Immediately. This place just gets it. They understand that quality matters. Every ingredient tasted intentional, every dish felt like someone actually cared before it hit the table. Too many restaurants are cutting corners these days, and I will happily support businesses that refuse to compromise. Worth every penny. This is hands down one of the best brunch spots I've been to in a long time, and I already can't wait to come back. Do yourself a favor and go. Just don't blame me when there's a line.

Each was perfect. The sliced/cubed steak had a hint of sweetness and was tender. If you're picky about eggs benedict, you'll appreciate this place. The coconut cream that accompanied the pancakes is addictive. The service was great. Looking forward to returning to try different things on the menu. I bookmarked Lazy Dough as a place to bring friends and family.

This Italian restaurant was a great find. The decor simple but perfect for this coastal restaurant. It's all shades of blue and white and aqua, with photos of coastal Italy. There is a bar with some wine and beer, but I'm not sure if I noticed any other alcohol. A great special that they have on tuesdays, wednesdays, and Thursdays. For $50 for a couple, you get your choice of appetizer, two entrees, and gelato for dessert. For appetizer, there were two choices: mixed salad or fried zucchini and mozzarella with spicy tomato sauce. We chose the mixed salad, and it was perfectly dressed and very good. There were several options for entrees. I choose the caccio e pepe, and hubby choose Salmon Piccata with potatoes and vegetables. Both were delicious! We finished the meal with two scoops each of gelato. There were several flavors to choose from, but we are a little boring--I got chocolate and strawberry, hubby got chocolate and vanilla. I think our server may have been the daughter of the chef, as I heard them talking and laughing together in Italian. She was great, attentive and very sweet. I am sure we will be back. This is just the kind of place thats right up our alley.

The decor is minimal and calming, mimicking the movement and tones of the water, almost like dining on a boat. We sat at the bar top and were warmly greeted by who I believe was the owner, which immediately made the space feel welcoming. I ordered the tagliatelle al ragù bianco, served with a pink sauce, and my significant other got the ravioli. The ingredients tasted fresh and rich, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared without being heavy. We paired our meal with two glasses of wine, which complemented the dishes perfectly. Overall, the food was great. Compliments to the young chef and our waiter as well, both really added to the experience.

We didn't come that late, but I could tell by our fellow diners and the employees themselves that everyone was looking forward to going somewhere else for the actual festivities. I was expecting my parents to like this place. That was the goal. I expected to dislike it, or at least to tell myself I disliked it. But it grew on me in a strange way, like bathroom tile of a certain unusual shade of green. I don't remember what we ordered on that night, but I really enjoyed my dinner. My parents enjoyed theirs as well. I've since been with them on three or four occasions to the Brea location, so I'm much more familiar with the menu now. Although Brea has both more total seating and more varied seating locations, I prefer Long Beach's dining room. It's the perfect combination of chic and comfortable, and the big glass windows really make it feel special, like you're looking out onto the world. The service was excellent. You order at the front, and they bring your food out. They were doing a good job of cleaning tables immediately, but again, I have a feeling they were just trying to get everything done ASAP so that they could go get drunk for New Year's.
