    Funnel Cake Fries
    Nicole C.

I always order funnel cake fries from here -- certainly my guilty pleasure! This last time, though, I felt like it was missing some powdered sugar. The last time I ordered their chicken finger buffalo bread which was very different, but good. I also ordered a pizza sub, but was not impressed with that. It just didn't taste right and had pieces of lettuce accidentally thrown in there.

    Disgusting

DO NOT EAT HERE. My family and I have been going to John's occasionally for the last couple of years. The pizza has been okay, nothing special but not terrible. This time I decided to give their Sweet Chili Chicken finger sub a try. It was the most disgusting sub I've ever had. The amount of mayo on it was the most absurd amount of mayo I've ever seen. It was impossible to taste the Sweet Chili Sauce because all I could taste was mayo. I started scraping it off with a spoon and the amount piling up on the plate was grossing out my wife and kids. The sub wouldn't even stay together because the roll was a soggy mess. It was like it was made by a person who had absolutely zero ability to determine anything even remotely close to a normal ratio of ingredients in a sub. I discarded the second half and called to complain. The manager, Joe, responded with hostility saying that I trashed his employee by complaining about the food she made. He told me she was new, only there 2 days, and she didn't know how to make subs yet. My question is, What kind of competent manager puts someone on sub duty and then admits angrily to a complaining customer that the employee doesn't know how to make subs? Joe doesn't even offer a refund at that point. He asks me aggressively, "What do you want me to do about it?" This kind of response baffles me. Customer Service fundamentals, Joe. You, as the manager, say something like, "I'm so sorry you had this experience, sir. We can make you a new sub, or offer you a free sub for your next visit, or a refund. Whatever you'd like. We're just sorry this happened." Nope, not Joe. He's taking it personal. He tells me that he's having a bad day. So, obviously, Joe is misdirecting these bad day blues at me. Real professional, Joe. Joe eventually says he'll issue a refund and hangs up on me while I'm telling him this is not how you handle complaints. So, I leave a Google review, then I call and talk to the Restaurant Manager 2 days later, Jennifer. She's actually nice and professional, for which I thank her sincerely. She agrees to check on the status of the refund ensuring it's been issued and agrees to call me back the following day. I tell my wife that Jennifer handled it so well, when she calls back to confirm the refund's been issued, I'm going to delete my Google review, since all's well that ends well. Well, Jennifer calls back the next day, and she's very angry, and she says she saw my Google review and asks if I posted it after speaking with her. I told her no, of course not, and she should be able to tell by the date it was posted that is not the case. She asks if posting reviews like this is something I do often, to which I explain that all she has to do is click on my Google review profile and she could see that actually all I leave is 5 star reviews because I believe in not saying anything if it's not nice. It was Joe's response that pushed me to leave that review. Jennifer tells me that the new girl is in training and Managers aren't able to watch every sub being made. That's so stupid. Your restaurant is called John's Pizza and SUBS. Subs should be made well. Every time. And if not, it's not the customer who's mean and bad for complaining. If the girl is training, then watch her. If she's doing poorly, then don't put her at the sub station unsupervised. That sub is over $14 plus tax. Nobody wants to spend that much money on the gamble that you fools are going to put unsupervised trainees on the sub station when it comes time for their sub to be made, then, give the customer a hard time when they complain. The whole thing is just absurd. Then Jennifer says she has no order history for our phone number and she thinks this is the only time we ever ate at John's. This just speaks to her gross incompetence because we have eaten there (at that same location) once every couple months for the past 2-3 years. My wife and I searched our online banking and found transactions going back to 2022 for John's, totaling a respectable amount of spending with them. And that doesn't include the times we've paid cash. Jennifer also proceeds to hang up on me. This behavior is so ridiculous it's hard to believe. This is exactly how to make a problem worse. If Joe handled it well initially, I would've left a 5-star review explaining how well the problem was handled. Instead, here we are. I'm now compelled to share this experience on every review outlet available, plus tell everyone I know. Joe and Jennifer have cost this location a significant loss in potential revenue by taking things incredibly personal and reacting emotionally. Learn how to do business. My prediction--this location will slowly die if they don't bring in some new management. There are many other better pizza and sub shops. Don't invite this bullcrap into your life. Spend your money elsewhere.

We haven't been to John's for years, but we went back the other day and loved it. Our pizza was cooked perfectly and the sauce and dough are some of the best around. The wings were cooked just as ordered. Plus, they have one of the best chicken finger subs around.

Close up of Whole (12") Chicken Finger Sub

I was craving a Buffalo Chicken Finger sub and was told to give John's a try. I am very glad I did! I called at about 5:15pm on a Saturday and ordered a whole (12") Chicken Finger sub with medium-style hot sauce, lettuce, provolone cheese, and bleu cheese but no mayo or tomatoes on a wheat roll. They told me it would be ready in 10-15 minutes (pretty quick!). I got there and saw plenty of parking. I was able to walk in and out within two minutes. The inside of the restaurant had a good amount of seating and looked clean. The staff I spoke to were pleasant. As for the sub, it was great! The chicken fingers were hot and plenty big (there were about three, good-size fingers). The medium-style sauce had a great flavor and the provolone cheese and bleu cheese combination added a creaminess and really elevated the flavor. The wheat roll was great as well: not too crunchy or too chewy. I'll be honest, at first, I thought the sub looked a little small, but when I was done, I was perfectly satiated: not overfull nor still hungry, just right! Between Fat Man's Pizza and now John's Pizza and Sub, it's hard to decide which is the better Buffalo Chicken Finger sub. But at the moment, I think the edge would go in John's favor. I would definitely come back again to satisfy my Buffalo Chicken Finger sub craving!

This is my new favorite pizza place!! I felt like something different than the usual pizza places I order from. I remembered a friend had mentioned John's and it's also very close by so I checked their menu out online. I love that they have a small pizza on their menu for about $8 because not a lot of pizza places have a small pizza; it usually goes from personal to medium. Small is a perfect size for me because I don't really like left over pizza so with the small I don't waste much or any. I got double cheese and pepperoni and 10 wings (half medium, half Cajun). The pizza was amazingggg and the perfect balance of cheese, sauce and delicious pepperonis. The wings were good too, typical of any pizza place. The vibe was nice inside and their interior dining space looks casual but comfortable and spacious. I'm always looking for pizza places where you can dine in and once covid calms down a bit, this place will definitely be one of them. The workers were pleasant as well. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

I usually go there for lunch once a week sometimes twice. The food is always good and consistent with a very friendly staff. The restaurant is very clean also.

Not Fluffy enough. I like Fluffy!
    Tammy R.

I prefer my pizza fluffier. The dough had no "bubbles". Below average pizza for buffalo. The wing were also over-crisped for me. They do however have pretty decent subs. The reason for 3 stars.

I had heard good things about Naked City Pizza, so I decided to take a break from my usual spots and give them a try and overall, I am very pleased! I called around 4:45pm on a Saturday and a gentleman took my order. He was courteous and friendly and said my order would be ready in 25-30 minutes. I arrived about 30 minutes later, easily finding a parking spot in their large parking lot, which is a mixture of pavement and dirt/gravel. Walking inside the shop, it's similar to most Buffalo pizza shops where it's relatively small and really about take-out, not for dining in. There were a few young guys working the counter and ovens, they were able to get me in and out quickly. From the limited time I was inside, the workers were friendly enough, they seemed to get along well. For dinner, I ordered a Quarter Sheet (6 slices) Steak and Three Cheese pizza but the gentleman who took my order over the phone put my order in as a Half Sheet (12 slices). They realized the mistake too late and gave me the Half Sheet for the Quarter Sheet price! I really do appreciate that, it's great customer service. I have half a pizza leftover for a quick dinner now! Naked City Pizza nails the traditional Buffalo-style with a doughier undercarriage and nice crispy, chewy crust. The dough was airy but it didn't seem as "heavy" as many other pizza places around Buffalo, but maybe I was just REALLY hungry. haha For their steak pizza, it seems like they use thicker pieces of steak, which was great, definitely felt more substantial. Most steak pizzas come topped with banana, hot, or sweet (bell/green) peppers, but Naked City uses roasted red peppers, which are sweet and have a more distinct flavor and softer texture - I was impressed, this paired VERY well with the other components! Along with them, there's also onions on top. The three cheeses used are cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan, which of course are delicious. In addition to the roasted sweet peppers, the other component that I was surprised by was the white garlic sauce as the base. Steak pizzas around Buffalo vary from using a "hoagie oil/sauce" to just a huge variety of cheeses, no base sauce of any kind. I tend to stay away from white sauce on pizza as it's usually associated with garlic (I don't want my breath to be too... fragrant haha), but this wasn't too garlic-y, I didn't feel like I was "wearing it". I enjoyed the added creaminess the white sauce added to this pie. After six slices, I stopped myself and put the other half in the freezer. The six slices I had were delicious and filled me up nicely - The squares were cut nicely and they were plenty filling with tons of meat and cheese. I have a feeling these will reheat in the oven nicely. Looking at the prices, I was impressed too with how affordable Naked City Pizza is! All-in-all, I'm glad I gave Naked City Pizza a chance and had a great experience! The staff are friendly enough and quick, it's easy to get in and out quickly, and the pizza is traditional Buffalo-style so it's on the heartier end while being affordable. I look forward to ordering and trying a red sauce pizza from Naked City Pizza to see how sweet their sauce is.

And that sausage? Made in-house and seasoned beautifully, with the perfect amount of fennel -- enough to give it that classic Italian character without overpowering the pie. Perfection! The buffalo mozzarella added creamy richness, the basil kept everything bright, and the San Marzano tomatoes were clean and balanced. We love pizza in all its forms -- New York style and Napoli alike -- but there is something about the rustic goodness of true Neapolitan pizza that has a special place in my pizza-loving heart. That airy, soft center and char-kissed crust from the wood-fired oven is magic. The use of such fresh ingredients makes Forno Napoli my favorite pizza on NY so far - authentic and intentional. There is a lot of love and pride in everything from the handmade crust to all of the toppings.
