    Chicken Cesar Wrap

Had the best chicken Cesar wrap at this place, it had avocado and chick peas in it which was a nice touch. Our waiter was also very nice and attentive. Good neighborhood spot with a patio.

Great casual classic neighborhood bar and grill in Roscoe Village for breakfast, lunch, and any time you feel like. It also has a small bar with cocktails, but the food is the main thing it seems. John's Place has more casual cuisine, but it's not afraid to get fancy as well. Fairly good prices on most items. There's burgers and that type of thing, as well as a few vegetarian choices to give everyone an option. A lot quieter than we thought it would be the last time here. It was still kind of early, but there were only a couple others. This place gets packed for brunch on weekends. Other times it's much easier to get in. We got lunch. It's about $8 for a basic cocktail. That's not bad for the hipster area it's in. As for the food, we each got the Build Your Own Burger. It's $13, and add another buck to make it an Impossible Burger. This was a good sized burger, and it came with a side. Even though some things here can be expensive, it's pretty okay compared to other places around it. If looking for a weekend brunch spot, this is a popular one. They're often not that busy or can be pretty quiet when it's not on the weekends.

I've been looking for a new neighborhood place. My usual place has prices that have shot up 40% and service that is now nonexistent. I was pumped to try a new place and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. Service was good but the food was fantastic. You'd be surprised by how many places will serve you cold food and don't blink an eye. You won't experience that here. A hot meal, hot potatoes, hot coffee, hot eggs, hot everything. It screams fresh and made to order. Would I do it again, yes. Many times over. A few blocks away someone stopped me and asked if I knew of a decent breakfast nearby. I told her that she would be extremely pleased with John's place. I told her I just left there and would be writing a review soon. I'll be back.

I took a good friend yesterday to John's Place based on a suggestion from a co worker. It was excellent! My guest ordered the salmon, teriyaki that night, and I had the chicken peanut bowl. Both were very creatively sauced with a complex and enjoyable collection of spices and flavors. I was say they were equally complex and delicious. It's a smaller place but the service was impeccable, the waiter, the bus staff, even John himself! They all had an amazing attention to detail. It is rare that I wake up the morning after such a meal anxiously waiting to dig into leftovers, but this time I did. John's Place will certainly go into heavy rotation for me this year.

A good place for comfort food and the service there was quick and friendly. When we went there were two toddlers doing what toddlers usually do-which is make a mess and our server took it in stride and definitely gave off a 'cool with it' vibe. When she got to us, I asked her what the soup was. 'Chicken avocado' Umm...really? Must avocado be put in EVERYTHING? Well, I like chicken soup so I ordered it preparing to be unhappy but was pleasantly surprised, besides the color the avocado just added a smoothness and body to the soup that was actually good. I got the Blackjack burger which sounded like it had a spicy kick to it, spice rub, pepper jack and a chile ketchup. Sounds like it had some heat to it right? Well, if you get it ask for Tabasco as well.

I've been to John's Pmace twice because it's one of T's go to places for the Cobb or Southwest salads. For me it's the burgers. Food is always very good and service is friendly and attentive. Paul helped us today and he was great. Outdoor seating in the summer is very nice. A local place that many come to over and over, and I know I'll be back.

The day started off gloomy and gray, but as the clouds broke and the city transformed into a beautiful spring afternoon, the atmosphere inside Village Tap matched that same energy shift -- warm, lively, and welcoming. What truly makes this place stand out is the staff. Even while absolutely slammed with customers after another raucous Cubs post game crowd rolled through, Meg and Kevin never missed a beat. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and ability to stay accommodating under pressure was genuinely impressive. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and ability to stay accommodating under pressure was genuinely impressive. They made sure everyone felt taken care of, stayed on top of drinks and service, and somehow still kept the experience fun and relaxed despite the chaos around them. Kevin's witty banter and sense of humor add a personality to the bar that you just don't find anywhere around that area. It creates the kind of environment where regulars and first-timers alike instantly feel comfortable. Meanwhile, Meg handles the rush with incredible poise and attention to detail, making sure guests always feel valued and welcomed. Village Tap has always been a great neighborhood spot, but experiences like this are what separate good bars from truly memorable ones. Great drinks, great atmosphere, and even better people behind the bar. Even on one of their busiest, most understaffed days, Meg and Kevin proved exactly why this place continues to be a Roscoe Village favorite. My only gripe is The Golden Tee Cabinet. Whats a guy gotta do to get a recalibration on that system! Mid Range left to right putts always miss on the low side. Not sure what to do, but I will carry on...

As popular as the Cesar wraps have been in the city, I had to try this one. At $20, I'd say the price is a little steep for what you're getting. Had to ask about their HH deals because it wasn't on the menu / the server didn't mention it. If we hadn't seen the sign outside, we would have no idea it was going on. 2.) Wanted to order another round while it was still HH but we couldn't get a hold of our server. Another friend arrived and asked about HH and she said it's over without even checking the time. My friend pulled out her phone to show it was only 5:54. Then she goes, "oh there's like 2 minutes left" (??) 3.) The server only took the third person's order and left without asking us if we wanted another round. Our glasses were visibly empty and we weren't even far from the POS. 4.) I tried to get her attention to order more HH drinks but she never looked our way or was no where to be found. Sure enough, she waited til after HH to get back to us. 5.) When we got our check, we got charged full price for the first two HH drinks. She never said sorry and just said "oh, let me check...". She came back with an updated bill, again without apologizing for the mistake.

One thing to note: reservations are timed, which I didn't realize beforehand, so that part was a little awkward while catching up with friends. Overall, I loved it and can't wait to go back.

In the modern world of $20 cocktails, craft double imperial IPA's with names like "a pidgeon's nightmare", sometimes all you want is an affordable ice cold miller light, play some pool, and watch some College football on a massive TV. The clientele clearly come to this traditional watering hole to make new friends, strike up fun conversations, and maybe throw back a few whiskey neats along the way. Don't expect an "instagramable" neon sign to take a picture in front of, but you'll find a no-nonsense bartender who will get you a cold one and listen to your life story. It probably has the same group of regulars here almost daily. They won't turn you away just because you aren't from around here though. Always happy to take your money in return for a drink. It's about $6 for the cheapest stuff. Basically it's just a place to drink. There's some snacks like chips or pretzels. For sure it's not the cleanest but it's not a dump.
