Not much when you walk in but a good spot to try if you're in the area! It's in a building so kind of a hard to find location and there's actually no sign that leads you inside the building, which definitely makes it hard to find if you're not looking for it. Standard cafe items with standard pastries. Nothing too special but would definitely come back to support a small business. They might not always have everything listed on the menu. Pro tip: eat in the outdoor area with umbrellas, better ambience than the inside!

You know those sterile office buildings with a sad commissary where building occupants begrudgingly pay a few bucks for vending machine-quality sandwiches? Jolt n Bolt should be what these spaces aspire to! I've always walked by, but never made it in. This place doesn't have any curb appeal, so you have to enter next to the loading dock either off Illinois or through a conspicuous door off 3rd. The actual seating area is very sparse, but I like that this place creates daily menus. They serve the simple cafe staples, but with quality: salads, sandwiches, quiche, soup, and pastries. I got a quiche combo for lunch. The salad portion was decent, and the quiche hit the spot. I also grab macaroons every time I'm here. Their pastries are by Gerhard Michler, and they are all excellent, including their chocolate chip cookies. I love seeing their big, open kitchen. The place is clean, the food is not fussy, and they offer a different entree every day (pizza, burger, etc). If you need a consistent, reliable cafe for a quick lunch grab, this is the place!

I really wish I liked this place more... the aroma wafting out of the building always smells so delightful. This review is for their individual cakes/tarts. Why I was here // Went to buy a few nice desserts to surprise my bf with in addition to the homemade steak and some wine I was planning for a night in. Service // service was meh. The front lady wasn't too helpful when I asked questions about the desserts. Desserts // -fruit tart // this one was decent. Really enjoyed the crust and the cream was sweet but not overly sweet. Fruits were fresh. -toffee cake // beautiful presentation but horribly hard and dry in texture and bland. That one unfortunately ruined our dinner. We took a few bites and threw it away. For the price which ranges from 3-4 dollars per dessert, I feel like I was expecting more. I'll probably give this place another shot for their food/drinks but for their desserts, I was sadly disappointed.

Amazing amazing.....Fridays at 1600 the entire case and what remains of it goes HALF OFF!!!! Look for the macro wheatgrass looking landscaping on the east side of street, and enter the American Industrial Center Building. Turn right away from the elevators, pass cutesy courtyard and descend stairs. Welcome to total temptation. Fresh everything. Tried half sandwich and a few sweets. Such skill, refinement, and adroit prowess baking up ridiculous wonders!!!!!! Must come again, and soon.

Jolt n Bolt is a true hidden gem. It's really hidden - located inside a building, corner 3rd & 20th st. I only found this place, because our photography class instructor's studio is in the same building. Follow the directions on this photo guide... Once you enter the lobby of 2325 Third street, follow the sign http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/sB32-pD4pyisGOZ5qXTFYg/l, you'll walk pass a beautiful patio on your right (nice place to eat) http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/w61MbPWFJvUtKgsNhiGR4Q/l. The place is located downstairs http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/1p3Zm4EUDOf_RP15pOmW2Q/l. That's it! The regular menu features sandos (plus bagels, croissants), soup & salads, and coffee http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/TcLztGRQ4YWRsH5Vt6eJMQ/l, and a board of specials that don't seem to ever change http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/JcFwG8-Jw5U4UK1JqOhfEw/l. Really good deal on the half sandwich (~$2 alone) and soup combo ($4.50), or the quiche with salad ($4.75). Yummy and cheap!! Their cold display case has many nice looking pastries http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/Iiwi2PePDXkPw97MlxVuag/l, and the prices are reasonable http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/af49riMrnxupCmQaOY-LFQ/l. These are some of the awesome pastries I took home: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WZED7bVvzaJ7BmcPAb_gWw?select=H-JRUNTW5vvxh8132biOtw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WZED7bVvzaJ7BmcPAb_gWw?select=KEuDrX2u1A4o4ONLk0IW4g http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WZED7bVvzaJ7BmcPAb_gWw?select=-FusLTpF_YkylmuSxZSn2Q http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/WZED7bVvzaJ7BmcPAb_gWw?select=iRAsyvnzZbsTN4JOaPYUTA It's a small space, so please be considerate IF others are waiting in line, by making quicker decisions when ordering. Thanks! Hours: M-F 7:30am-4:30pm

I ordered the petit fours for my Paris Café themed bridal shower and they were a hit! Everyone loved them and they looked great on my mini pastry dessert bar! I can't thank Mary enough for these, they made the shower! Prices were the cheapest I found, perfect bite size, and easy ordering. Pick up was the day before since my shower was on a Sunday and they were still fresh... Not to mention delicious!! Will be re-ordering again!

The menu change everyday so it's cool. About $10-12 per day.

I ordered 1 of everything. I suggest you do the same.

They explained that the flight includes an espresso shot, espresso shot with milk, hot coffee, and iced coffee. I hadn't had a straight espresso shot before, so this wasn't for me personally just because it was so overpowering. I enjoyed the other three though. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

At 11 am on a Sunday they were out of their best- black sesame Kouign Amann and the Raspberry Almond Croissant, which I took care of by paying a visit to Juniper bakery (sister business) later in the day. The Mocha with the house made nut milk fell flat. It needed something. I am not a fan of syrupy coffees and appreciate the more purist approach but this one just didn't do anything for me. The chai latte which I would never order was actually the best chai latte I have ever had, it was smooth like silk. Maybe I just had the wrong coffee order. Besides that, got the hot chocolate and the coffee tasting. I was surprised there was no explanation provided with the coffee- I figured it's all Honduran but an overview of some sort would have helped. I enjoyed all the coffees in there except the latte. Will visit again, earlier in the day so they are not out of their best sellers and try a different order.

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

Matcha latte with whole milk : It's very savory which is great, unsweetened by default. I thought this was one of the better matchas I've had if you want to be able to taste the matcha strongly. Olive oil spelt cake: It reminds me of pound cake. Not that sweet except the frosting/icing. It was okay but as someone who's not as fond of that kind of cakey texture, I'd probably not get it again. They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.
