So flavorful and every bite has a bit of everything. Although the food is great I won't be returning. The ambience did it for me. A group of women were seated in the table behind me speaking super loud about sexual encounters with their clients. The restaurant was super busy and everyone around looked mortified. I was very disappointed that the staff had nothing to say to them especially since their were young children seated in a table opposite of mine. If I looked up the translation of "Pan De Jon", would it say "Bread Pudding Good"? I was deciding between the waffles, when I saw the Pan De Jon was tagged "limited availability". When I asked about its availability, no one needed to check. If I wanted it in the afternoon, it may not be available. At first sight, the bread custard resembled a banana. So, I thought the each was wrapped around a banana, but that was not the case. My minor disappointment was quickly negated once I took a bite. It tasted amazing. The thick banana syrup may be too sweet for some, but it was not any sweeter than maple syrup. The way the dish was prepared made the blackberries, strawberries and raspberries very soft and mushy. The only hesitation I would have to a repeat visit is their parking lot. I parked in the rear corner. When I went back to my car, there was one parked to my right and another perpendicular to my rear left. As I was leaving, I was never more thankful for the 360 degree camera system in my car. read more

I started with the pineapple Mimosa & then ordered the Chicken & Biscuit. The biscuit was a yummy peppery taste & went so well with the peppery gravy & potatoes. The egg & arugula added that extra peppery goodness that sealed in the taste for the entire eating experience. The chicken wasn't as tender as I would have liked, but then again, I'm super picky. I would definitely order this dish again because is was delish! My hubby had the Nooner Burger with sweet potato fries. He said it was full of a LOT of meat & loved it! Very filling! I tasted his fries & they had a wonderful seasoning on them. The helpings are HUGE & we both had enough leftovers for a 2nd meal. The 4-star is for the cleanliness of the floor...even though I understand it was probably due to the constant flow of a packed house. Came here on a Sunday because a couple of people recommended it to me. Parking isn't the greatest but we found a spot. Waited about 30 minutes before our party of three was seated. They were pretty busy so the wait didn't bother me too much and there was a place to sit while you waited. Our waitress was nice and our food came pretty quickly. My friend and I both ordered the same thing, chicken and waffles with a side of eggs with cheddar cheese and the gravy on the side. The gravy is the star of this dish! We went to this place hoping to support and local black owned business. It is listed a such but this place is NOT a BOB. It is just frequented by a lot of black folks. Anyway the food was not bad, I'll even say good. Everything was so peppered and spicy so if you're not into that stay away from all the gravies! There were more entrees made with Turkey sausage than pork (in this family swine is fine!) Anyway we ordered the chicken biscuit, the Kure, the peanut butter and jelly waffle, chicken fried steak and eggs, the Migas, the berry waffle, biscuit and gravy, and a plain waffle. My chicken with the chicken and biscuit was cut thin, fried hard, and nicely seasoned. No problem there. The biscuit itself was delicious. The gravy was too peppery for my liking but still edible. The brunch potatoes that came with it were cooked just right and had good seasoning on it. The scrambled eggs were just that, scrambled eggs, nothing special. My nephew said The Kure was too spicy for him with the Tabasco gravy . He normally doesn't mind spicy food but he had a basketball game later that day and it would upset his stomach. The migas was good. The chicken fried steak had a pepper gravy that was almost like brown pepper gravy and instead of white, mom said it was good enough. Niece #2 like her berry waffle, even though she scraped most of the blueberries off cuz it came with a shit ton of them. Niece #1 didn't care for the berry mix with her pb&j waffle. And also the peanut butter fluff was no fluff at all, more like peanut butter crumble, I tasted it and didn't like it (good thing she asked for all of that on the side). Nephew #2 instantly hated his biscuits and gravy. It was sooooo much pepper that his mom started coughing when she tasted a bite. He never even hit into the turkey sausage links. Thankfully the waiter took it back and replaced with a plain waffle with no fuss. He enjoyed the plain waffle. It was nice to try a local place but when I visit Dallas again this place will not be on my list of places to return to. Go be the judge for yourself! read more

My family came in town from Louisville, Kentucky, and they wanted to have some brunch. I've heard some good things about this place and also some bad things. Wanted to try it on our own to get my own take on it. I have to say that it is average, nothing to write in about or, make a special trip to. I ordered the chicken and waffles, one family member ordered the chicken fried steak, ordered the pork chop, another order biscuits and gravy. After food was delivered, the consensus said it was average. The eggs that came with the meal came out cold, and they had to be reheated or made again. Some items were left off of our order, being that we weren't hungry and we didn't wanna cause the ruckus, we just went with the flow. my chicken and waffles didn't have much flavor on the chicken, the waffles were decent but overall just the average meal. After perusing it a few weeks ago, I decided to add it to my bucket list, and boy am I glad! We were promptly greeted outside by Molly, the hostess, who took our name down and said it would be about a 20-30 minute wait, which was not an issue whatsoever on a Sunday morning around 11:00 AM. After a short while, we were escorted to our table, and our server promptly greeted us and took our drink order. My dining partner ordered the regular breakfast, which included 2 Eggs, 2 Sides, and 1 Slice of Toast. He chose the cheese grits and bacon - the cheese grits were out of this world. I ordered the Brunch Kabobs which are smoked sausage, ham, and bacon, covered with a Coffee Glaze. Again, out of this world! The coffee glaze added another level of delectable flavor. I also ordered the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs which come with Chef Jon's Chicken Fried Steak, 2 Eggs, Brunch Potatoes, and toast. I was floored by Chef Jon's peppered gravy, which is full of flavor, unlike most bland gravies you get elsewhere. What also floored me was how everything was seasoned perfectly. I ordered my eggs scrambled, and they were PERFECT! Not those dry, crumbly eggs you get everywhere else. They were moist, and they were seasoned! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! Plain and simple - yes the food is still good but after seeing how horribly managed this location is - it's definitely leaves you wondering why some local restaurants shouldn't expand. From the waitress lying about being backed up or simply not letting us know that the kitchen was backed up. Great place good food great staff. Place can get super crowded so be sure to come early for a better experience it gets pretty hectic but for a darn reason! My go to here is the "Dads Benedict" great portion excellent prices with oh so good tasting flavors. Oh and did I mention they are very generous? So awesome. If you want a little twist to some comfort food, you need to come to Jonathan's! The food is amazing and plentiful! The Brunch Kabobs had a nice outer crunch. It was so delicious. The All In One Waffle is enough for two people, or one very hungry person! It is a bit spicy from the Tabasco, but the syrup helps cut the heat. Great place to have fantastic food! read more
