This is one of those places that brings you instant comfort on a gloomy/rainy day (which is like every day now in Seattle). I ordered the Mac and cheese, baked beans, and corn bread via Uber eats and was pleasantly surprised by the packaging and portions! The container with the beans was wrapped so well that nothing spilled and all the food was still hot when it was delivered (like I'm talking burn my mouth hot). The portions were also bigger than what had expected for sides and ended up saving leftovers for dinner. Definitely worth it! Mmmmmmmm, Jones BBQ has some amazing brisket. These folks really understand the true nature of slow & low brisket smoking. Let's face it anytime you roll up to a parking lot with a cloud is smoke plumming for blackened smoke stacks you can well assume your in for a treat. I strictly come for the brisket. It's meaty , greasy and it's meat soul has been rendered down for 12 to 15 hours of smoke inhalation for my flesh consumption needs. When ordering make sure you understand which part of the brisket you get. My recommendation is you get the larger fattier end for a more tasteful and if your one of those health consciences then option for lean end. And since I'm a no sauce kinda guy I ask for "NO SAUCE" cause I love the taste of flesh not sauce. The rest of meat pleasures are listed on the board along with daily specials. UPDATE: 2/22/20 I've eaten at Jones BBQ a couple of times since my last review, and I'm going to give them back a star, but with caveats: THE ROSES: Rather than my usual chicken & rib combo, I went with ribs and brisket. The meats were done to perfection! THE THORNS: On my other visit, I had a ribs and chicken combo. The ribs were great, but the chicken (dark meat) was dry AGAIN!!! How the hell do you screw up dark meat? THE VERDICT: Jones BBQ does a great job with ribs, rib tips, brisket and hot links. They simply have serious consistency issues with chicken. When they do the chicken right, it's heavenly. Unfortunately, your odds of getting good chicken are not good enough for me to recommend. Recommend - for everything BUT the chicken. read more

I'm from TX so being here in Seattle made me miss TX bbq. I like to order ribs and this place actually has the meat fall off the bone and I'm very picky about my bbq. My partner ordered the brisket and thought that it's a good substitute for bbq in TX. There's a more expensive place that claims to make their meats TX style (won't be naming it) and it failed to make tender brisket and fall off the bone ribs. Again, my partner and I are very picky with bbq. That place only has the food smell smokey. Wouldn't recommend that place. Here, the meat doesn't have the smokiness BUT the brisket and ribs here is far better than that so called TX style bbq location. Realistically, this platter could have fed for 5-7. We tried one of each meat. If we had to take one out, it would be chicken. It was just hard to eat especially because the pieces were huge. Everything was on point and bbq sauce was yum! Environment - Ambiance is more order food, eat and get out. There are 3 inside tables for 2 people and 2 tables outside for 4. This place is good, their corn bread was yummy, their beef was delicious and their Mac and cheese was good. My fiancé got the collard greens and was not super impressed. We were a little disappointed because we wanted to do a combo with 16 oz sides, but only wanted the two beef options. The deal with 16 oz sides had to come with 3 meat options and couldn't be modified to split between 2 meat options, I wonder if it's because the meat was already weighed out? Stopped in today for lunch. This was our first time in and the place smelled amazing! We were super excited to try the BBQ. After looking over the large menu outside, we walked in to order. The place is super small, but there is outside seating. I started by ordering the rib tips. I was told they were out. Then someone from the back said they had just one order left. Whew, lucky for me! Got the lunch special which included fries and coleslaw. Unfortunately for him, they were just about out of everything else he asked for. He wanted the three meat plate with brisket, ribs and hot links. He was told they were out of ribs. He decided on the two meat dinner, brisket and hot links. He had a choice of two sides and asked for fried okra and was told they were no longer on the menu. I said, "but it is, right here" as I pointed to it. Was told they hadn't had okra for a while and that they just haven't taken it off the menu. He ended up with beans a greens. Take it off the menu!! Their display of desserts is very enticing, so I also ordered a piece of sweet potato pie. We sat outside to wait for our food. A few minutes later, our server came back to tell us they we also out of hot links. We were incredulous! He ended up having to get the chicken instead. How is an establishment out of half their menu at noon on a Monday?? We were so disappointed! Finally the food that was in stock came and it was really, really good! My rib tips were juicy with a great smoky flavor. His brisket was amazing and the chicken was ok. I really wish I could rate this higher because I can only imagine how great the items we actually wanted would have been. A pretty decent place to get takeout BBQ in the West Seattle area! My vote is more like 3.5 stars but rounding up. My all time favorite is the brisket. It's always moist and has the perfect amount of fat. Chicken is hit/miss and the rest again is pretty standard. The food is here is sauce-heavy but I don't mind as the sauce is pretty good. I only wish they had spicier options. Sides are average but you do get a large quantity. As far as service, it can be a little lackluster. Some days I've had to call 5-6 times before anyone picks up. Being a primarily takeout restaurant (only a few small tables inside), I wish their takeout containers were a little better. It's usually paper boats without tops, wrapped in foil. I often get home with sauce leaking everywhere. Overall though, I'll continue to stop by when I'm craving brisket and don't feel like leaving the area. read more

Have ordered twice. The BBQ is good and a very generous amount (plenty for leftovers), though the sauce is too sweet for my taste. My second order (delivery) that I'm eating as I write this, is disappointing. I ordered Joyce's Special, which is chopped pork sandwich topped with coleslaw and a side of fries. It was tasty, but the meat and baked beans were only "technically" warm. There were no fries at all with my order, so I paid $1.50 extra for nothing. It wasn't worth calling and waiting to have it delivered. (After reading other reviews, it appears a lot of people also have had missing food items.) Very disappointed. Another issue, though not sure what can be done about it, the bottom of the bun is soaked to the state of obliteration from the sauce and juices. What is left is just a gooey, unpleasant texture. The pork was swimming in clear/yellow oil. The meat was mostly fat. Im from the south east, I've sampled barbecue pork of all different kinds. I was really excited to finally try this place, but I won't be returning. The meat was a chewy and the sauce didn't pack much flavor. We got the brisket and chopped pork and both left something to be desired. There were sharp bits in the brisket as well, like bone or something? It wasn't good. The fries were pretty okay, so were the beans. The redeeming dish is the side of Mac & Cheese, which definitely hit the spot. This was the third they kept hidden from us until we had the opportunity to schedule a date for dinner. The restaurant often sells out by 8 p.m. Ribs are your next best option....The smoke house boasts a stellar craft-beer list to wash down that finger-licking barbecue." Ambiance: A small parking lot is available for patrons, sitting adjacent to the large, tin-roofed smoke-house, where the smell of meats come streaming forth before even entering the establishment. Enter to find a bright, yellow room, especially vibrant on this grey Seattle afternoon. Barquette and intimate seating just beyond a small lobby, complete with bench for those awaiting a table on more busy evenings. We continued along the center path, winding back towards a second dining area, with limited booth seating, warm wooden tones and lighting, and towards the order counter and kitchen. I found a Groupon for Jones BBQ and I have been wanting to try it so I purchased the groupon! Hubby and I decided to go yesterday and oh my.....we will definitely be back! The ribs were fallin off the bone! None of the meat was dry, it was all juicy and full of yummy goodness! One tip I would give us to call ahead as it was pretty busy! The only bad thing were the fries were a little limp for my taste but that can be totally fixed as next time I'll just ask for extra crispy fries and imo the Mac and cheese didn't have as much flavor as my hubby'! I've been coming to Jones Barbeque for awhile now, and I do believe it's the best BBQ joint around Seattle! If you know of another, let me know! Having lived in the South, Jones BBQ is the closest thing to southern bbq. There are so many bbq joints around town that just doesn't have that southern kick. Jones BBQ is priced to perfection, and they for sure don't skimp on their meat and sauce! I would recommend Joyce's special pork sandwich for $9.50. it's basically two meals for the price of one! I always wonder when the last bite would be because this pulled pork sandwich is overflowing with meat! You'd think you're eating for two! The sandwich also comes with a side of fries. Another recommendation would be their beef brisket and rib tips! Again, generous portion of meat, cooked to perfection, and full of flavor! This place serves proper Arkansas BBQ (think a sweet mix of Louisana spice/East Texas wet). They also make a fine peach cobbler. Have never had a bad meal in the 6 years that we have been coming here. They only have three small tables so if you are planning on eating here on a Saturday night, make other plans. The woman working the counter was very friendly and helpful, I just didn't catch her name. We are trying to go out of our way to make sure we are prioritizing supporting black and POC businesses. They deserve our business and our $$$!! This is a spot you do NOT want to miss!! Jones BBQ did not disappoint. We ordered the Brisket, Hot Links, Baked Beans, Coleslaw, and Corn Bread. We also got sides of Spicy and Medium BBQ sauces. All the food was DELICIOUS!!! The meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The beans were sweet and yummy. I normally hate coleslaw, but it was actually really good to the point I wanted more! The corn bread was also really good, not dry at all! The sauces were and I recommend the spicy sauce a lot (it's really not THAT spicy). Because the food is bomb, they can run out of items, so be aware of that based on when you're ordering. Overall, Jones BBQ deserves to be your go to BBQ spot, it is now mine. It is fully worth the drive to West Seattle (yes, even with the bridge closure). Had to get a last minute large order in 48 hours to a planned gathering and the catering manager was super helpful, super nice and very accommodating. As ordered, the food was ready at the time specified for pickup. Upon unpacking, found that 24 pounds on bbq is an abundance for 45 people. Tase was Awesome and had rave reviews from all who partook. The cornbread was huge, moist and amazing as well. Over all experience was fantastic! I will definitely use this place for future gatherings. You get a LOT of good food for the amount you spend.
