I really love this little spot. Been here twice now and I'm enjoying it more and more. Cute little walk up place. On colder days it's better to order to go, but if it's nice outside there is plenty of seating. The menu is small and has all the basics, that are not basic in taste at all. Chicken, Pork, Steak, Shrimp, Noodles, Sandwiches, Rice, Springs Rolls, Wings....and more. The best part is their fresh ingredients. This was my second visit to Jonty's. And although, I am not from Morgan Hill, I would make it a point to stop there for a meal. The restaurant itself is a counter at the train station where you place your order for food. The staff is very nice and helpful. I got a salad with lemongrass pork and paid $2.50 extra for pork bellies. The lg pork was a little dry due to its leanness but had good flavor. The bellies are where it's at! Pork belly sandwich was delicious... the pork was crispy and not too greasy, and had a great marinade and flavor. The garlic aioli was perfect with the fresh carrots, cilantro, and jalapeño. If you don't like the heat skip the jalapeño, but I loved the spice. The iced coffee was not too sweet, not too strong, and had a good rich flavor... although I saw the "Jonty" which came with 2 espresso shots on top... that's for the next trip. Everyone in front of me ordered noodle bowls, so I imagine in a favorite. No indoor seating, and it took about 15 minutes on a slow afternoon, but either way I will be back and bring everyone. This place was good We went to a festival and started to smell something awesome. It brought it us to Jonty's. The first thing you see, other than a long line, is a rack or two of pork belly. That certainly got me going. I ordered the Thai Spring roll and the pork belly Bahn Mi. The spring roll was meh. It didn't taste like it was just made. The flavor just wasn't there. Their peanut sauce was better than average. The shining star was the pork belly sandwich. The pork belly was perfectly crispy and so yummy. The fresh veggies were the perfect mix for this sandwich. I love coming here to buy food to go. It's not one of my "go to spots," but I do like to come occasionally to sit outside and eat next to the park. The food is pretty good and the atmosphere is lively due to the children and parents at the park. The train also stops by every once in a while too. Great PIT STOP / Train STOP in MORGAN HILL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ on the Road (the 101) from the SF Bay Area to Gilroy, Monterey, SLO, and all points South! Jonty's is one very Cool Vietnamese Joint at a Serene Country Train Station! When your are Jonsin for Vietnamese food & particularly a good Vietnamese Sandwich, when in Morgan Hill, of all places, you can find a few good places in this small town (just short of Gilroy, CA). After seeing one of my Vietnamese Yelper friends rave about some of the Vietnamese food in Morgan Hill, and since my in-laws just live up the road, in tiny San Martin, one day I decided to do a Sandwich Study and tried two places. Jonty's was the first, and I was quite impressed by the out-of-the-way very unusual location at a train station. When I pulled up, no one was about, since it seems that mostly train commuters come here, some locals, and the odd Yelper (like me). It is off the beaten track and well isolated from the town's main drag, which in this case is a good thing. It's open air atmosphere makes you feel like you are kind of in the country. The second place I tried in Morgan Hill (Pho Morgan Hill) was what you would usually expect to find in a "Country Town" small strip mall, but it also had good sandwiches too. Any of these Sandwiches are transformed into a succulent crunchy masterpiece, with the addition of "magical" stinky fish sauce and Vietnamese Hot Sauce. So my Yelper friend was right, there is good Vietnamese food in Morgan Hill! Who could imagine! Too bad there is no true Vietnamese place where I work/live in either San Luis Obispo, nor Shell Beach, nor within hundreds of miles North, nor South, nor East, on any highway....and even further West by sea (there are tons of good Vietnamese Sandwich places on Oahu, Hawaii BTW). The lovely owner couple & their well behaved kids were all there. The couple were very friendly and helpful with the menu & we had a great conversation about how they happen to start this unique operation. They took great pride in their humble operation & their care was evident in the very tasty sandwich. Their extremely well behaved kids were as quiet as mice and played quietly at a nearby table (I wish my nephews & nieces were even half as well behaved as that!) The Sandwich was just as good & as tasty as any that I have tried in San Jose's Storied Story Road Vietnamese Strip, and it was served with far more Aloha. It was also great to dine out in the sun and a nice day, rather than deal with the traffic, pollution, & general madness of Story Road. I never had such a good Vietnamese Sandwich, served by such nice people, in such a quiet, serene, and clean outdoor unique atmosphere. Totally a unique find that only Yelp could help me with. Review #191 - 2018 While making our drive out to Monterey, traffic was terrible and none of us had lunch yet so I thought it would make more sense to sit and eat rather than just sitting in traffic, hungry. I Yelped for the nearest banh mi shop and this place popped up with some good reviews so I decided to make a detour and feed all the hungry kids and my adult passengers as well. I actually drove right passed it because the sign was facing the playground rather than the front of the street. Good thing my nephews in the car behind me paid attention for once and saw it. We showed up around 1:15 PM & there was only one person in line ahead of us. However, there was a good amount of people who were sitting there waiting for their food already. My nephew and I both ordered the pork belly banh mi, my other nephew ordered the steak banh mi and the other four people ordered the pork belly rice plates. Simple enough since the pork bellies were already pre-cooked, right? For a small place, they definitely have a huge clientele because I saw people showing up picking up take outs as well as eating there. We were all pretty impressed with our food, but it took 45 minutes for our order to arrive. We were sitting out in the heat and asked for iced water, but had to go back and asked again because the guy told us it would be served with our meal. We wouldn't have lasted 45 minutes without any water. I'd say the food is a 4-star, but I would definitely recommend not coming here if you are short on time because it takes a very long time to get your order. Since my move to the bay area I've found quite a few very good sandwich shops. After a workout in Morgan Hill you always deserve to treat yourself. It's a balance I pride myself on and I can say my stomach and taste buds really appreciate it. Jonty's was about one mile away and I love Vietnamese food so it was a no brainer. Jonty's is a cute walk up eatery. It's located right next to a public parking area and has a nice outdoor space is covered for you to enjoy your food. There's a simplicity to the menu. You have a few options including a sandwich, noodle bowl as well as your choice of protein. They also have a few appetizer options including sriracha wings, spring rolls. I was in the mood for steak so I went for the banh mi w/ steak that comes with a garlic fish sauce, sauce is served on the side. After ordering my steak I heard the words, "How'd you like that steak cooked?". I think it can be a loaded question because it does take a little skill to cook a steak so I decided medium would be a good test of skill. I also ordered the tofu spring rolls. It took about 8ish minutes for my food to come out. The banh mi comes on a French baguette with cilantro, cucumbers and carrots. The cucumbers/carrots are pickled. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender with a very light touch of pink. It was seasoned simply and the garlic fish sauce had a good balance of fish and garlic. The spring rolls were fresh and bigger than the normal small spring rolls I'm used to getting at pho places. They are minimally seasoned and are a perfect vector for a delicious sauce. The sandwich is built well and I've since realized while writing this review I could have put a fried egg on this sandwich...I'm drooling at a work meeting thinking about the next time I go back and get another sandwich. This sandwich made me happy. Overall I was really impressed at the quality of sandwich, made to order which may end up taking a while if it's a busy time. I was craving for an Asian fix around Morgan Hill, and I saw this place had good reviews and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and I get it. The place itself is a bit unorthodox to get Vietnamese food since it is through a stall window next to a playground, but the food they serve is tasty. Their menu consists of a couple of standard appetizers of spring & egg rolls, banh mi sandwiches, rice plates, and specialty drinks. Their banh mi is LARGE, and they pack it with your choice of protein along with some veggies. The rice plates are pretty standard in size, and I ordered the garlic steak for my protein, and it was very flavorful. My husband likes the Vietnamese iced coffee here as well and is usually picky about them. If you plan on eating there, take note that there is no tent or cover on the tables, and they're right next to the playground. I usually walk here on Saturdays and stop by after the farmer's market. The service is always excellent and quick. Scrolling down the list, I took notice of this place. I ordered three rice plates to go--garlic steak, crispy pork belly, and curry chicken. The baguette was freshly baked, super soft and warm with a nice slight crisp to the outside of it. Perfecto. The pork belly, now this place was did not skimp.. big chunks of meat in every bite. To top it off the skin was nice and crunchy l, not soggy or chewy. I was trying to pinpoint what was missing or different with Jonty's versus the traditional banh mi... they have pickled veggies but it's not as picked as the other places, also they use a garlic aioli instead of pate which I realized afterwards when I noticed pate as a side addition on the menu for $1.50. The other item I tried was the steak in anchovy sauce rice plate. Not bad. It could've used a little more flavor but it was cooked nicely, medium rare. A little on the small side considering the price though. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and left with a happy tummy. Just found my banh mi spot in this town! Our second experience was not as good as our first. I ordered 3 pork belly sandwiches for lunch. When we sat down and unwrapped them to eat, we noticed there was hardly any filling inside. Maybe 6 pieces of small pork, very little shredded carrots and a couple small slices of cucumber w/ a few pieces of green chilli. This should have cost $5 at most each but to pay $26 for 3 pieces of bread was ridiculous. The sandwiches tasted just okay, something you can easily put together at home for $2-3 dollars, nothing special or memorable to warrant $26. It must have been an off day. read more

It's my go to but I've ordered one of each sandwiches for a party and they were all delicious!
