Plantains - needed an extra min or two, inside was not done.

Enish Houston had potential, but they still have some work to do. They really need to drive around Houston to understand what could work from Nigerians in Houston and what clearly won't in this town. I tried the jollof rice, decent, but nothing particularly memorable, I was biased as I heard others saying it was "just rice". The stew, however, was actually quite good. It tasted clean, the oil didn't feel overly reused or heavy (which I appreciated, you guys are new so your oil should be fresh too), and that made a noticeable difference. The native rice however, at a whopping $45 per plate, was the bigger disappointment. Flavor-wise, the palm oil and seafood notes were there and could have made for a strong dish, but the rice was unfortunately overcooked and mushy, which ruined the texture entirely. I considered ordering the fried rice instead, but after already having meat and plantain, I didn't feel like waiting another 20 minutes. Service-wise, they're clearly still ironing out operational issues, which is understandable for a newer establishment. But pricing is where I think they may struggle in Houston. I understand the upscale positioning -- the décor, valet (wasn't there for a few mins before someone could finally come to park my car) overall ambiance, but the food has to consistently justify that premium. Right now, it doesn't quite justify it. I could see maybe at night with a different clientele who is just looking to see and to be seen, but I want to eat good, this isn't the place. We value, value for our meals, not just aesthetics. One thing that really left a bad impression: they place bottled water on the table without clearly indicating it's not complimentary, then you discover at the end that it's a $20 charge, they ask you still or sparkling but don't tell you that the bottle in front of you will run you $20. That kind of surprise billing doesn't sit well. Houston diners care about value just as much as experience. Premium pricing can absolutely work here, but only if the execution matches. Right now, Enish feels like a concept with promise that needs refinement. Granted it's hard to run a restaurant, but competition is stiff here in Houston, the establishments are good, decent, hard to compete with the price point with the quality of the food so far. They removed the native rice from the bill as a courtesy, but the water was what pained the most.

It has an attractive outside and covered patio dining area along with an equally attractive interior space with nice music playing in the background. It is a counter service restaurant that lets you order from your table using a QR code along with ordering at the counter if you wish. I ordered the 1/2 chicken meal and picked the lemon and herb spice flavoring. They offer 5 levels of heat if you want to burn. I don't. The meal I asked for came with one side dish and I chose the fries for $16.49. For another $2.50, I could have ordered another side dish. With a peach flavored ice tea and tax my bill was a little over $21. I used the QR code and ordered from the table which was convenient, A manager came to my table shortly after ordering to say that my chicken was going to be about 15 minutes before being ready and offered to substitute other pieces for it which I declined and said I could wait. It was nice of her to do that and showed good customer service. While I waited, I went to the self serve drink station to get my delicious peach tea and noticed they offer several sauces in self serve bottles that you can use to enhance your protein. Nice touch! The meal was actually delivered just 10 minutes later. The bird was juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed it. The fries were hot and delicious too. Yes, I was happy with this meal. Nando's impressed me. We've done takeout, hosted parties, and also Doordashed it and eaten in. Each time it's been great. My favorite sides are the crispy brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. Portuguese rice is spicy for anyone ordering for kids.

The steak was supposed to be tender, but it was tough and chewy, and I only received three tiny pieces for a $10 steak add-on. I ordered my meal to go and didn't realize until I got home that my order was incorrect. I specifically ordered it with jollof rice, but I was given plain white rice instead. I tried to give the restaurant a chance to make things right by calling them. Instead of addressing my concerns, I was told they were busy and to call back in a few hours. That was frustrating, especially after spending $40 on a meal and an appetizer. Overall, the small portions, poor quality steak, incorrect order, and lack of immediate customer service made this one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

Really nice and bright decorated restaurant with lots of menu options. They offer a daily small Happy Hour, a decent rewards loyalty program for frequent customers and their Sauces!! Which I may add are available for purchase and I might have a few flavors at home.......shout out to the Medium Garlic! They offer parking in both the front & back and a semi shaded small side patio. A few small changes that I have noticed since their opening: they no longer offer lunch portions/specials and sadly the Rainbow Bowls no longer come with turmeric cauliflower Oddly, as many times that I have visited, I am either the only one there or at most, 1 of 3 people max. Hopefully it's just the early afternoon time of day I always seem to stop in because I would really like this place to stick around. And as much as I enjoy a good rewards program, their scanner has never worked once since initially joining so I have to manually input my receipt barcode into the app. Not a big deal but I haven't redeemed any rewards yet either so hopefully that will be a smooth process. And if I may end on a suggestion, Please lower the music by 2 levels. I have to put my noise canceling AirPods in every time because it's just a tad too loud and distracting to hold a convo. Other than that, Welcome to the 'Strose Nando's!

We were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was very big and we saw a lot of local Ethiopians so I knew it was going to be authentic and yummy! The photos didn't do the food justice because the spices made each dish so different and delightful! I got the lemon eggplant hummus with homemade pita and I wish I had a bucket of it because it was DIVINE! We got a menagerie of food; chicken beef, veggie but they also serve goat and lamb. I loved the beef (Awaze Tibs)- so tender, tasty and flavorful. It was served with salad, rice and their bread called Enjera. I spoke to the owner, Suzzani, and she educated me on how it is made... it's kind of like their version of sourdough. They let it ferment 3 days and it's like a very spongey flat bread that it rolled up. It was not like anything I had before... a little tangy/sour (but in a good way) due to fermentation. Anyway, they serve a big portion for the price so most of us had food to go. They accommodate big parties and have a stage too.
