So first let me say I did not go golfing I just came here to get something to eat. This is a great spot if you want a nice quiet place to eat and enjoy yourself. This is so different from eating inside the casino because theirs no smoke, its quiet and you have a great view of the golf course. I came here for breakfast and it was pretty good I was impressed. If you're every looking for a golf challenge, this is the place for you. The clubhouse and course are absolutely amazing but this course is not for the meek. It is difficult in every aspect and there are many carries that must be overcome to find a fairway. Ok, it's not like I find many fairways but it is even tougher on this course. The course itself is immaculate and much attention was put to detail at throughout the grounds. Inside the clubhouse and restaurant, the staff was very helpful and courteous. My only issue with Journey is the fact that we had a 1 hour plus frost delay and the communication between the starter and our group was lacking. We never knew where we stood in line for our time. I went there for the first time last Sunday 01-09-2022 with some work colleagues (5 in total). The food was absolutely delicious and service was spot on. My husband has a monthly brunch scheduled and I encouraged him to dine there also because of my wonderful experience. 5 star golf course. Pristine fairway conditions. Ostrich stitched golf cart seats with awesome gps. Fastest greens in the West. Beautiful views. The cart girl Kaela was very attentive and even took pictures for us. The Shack has delicious food cooked by Robert who was funny and had us 4 guys laughing a lot. Our favorite by far was Kathleen Dyer who made killer Bloody Marys and drinks. She has a great personality and is very personable. Beautiful golf course with a really nice Clubhouse. The restaurant is inside the clubhouse and has a nice view of the golf course. On a nice day its nice to sit outside on the deck, and on a cold day its nice to sit inside by the fire pit. This is a restaurant where you don't have to feel like you have to golf to be there. Food is good, and if you are an iced tea drinker you have to order the iced tea. It is brewed with hot water over crushed ice at the table. Love the patty melt, the New York Strip is a great steak, and they make great pancakes. Journey is a great place for breakfast or lunch. read more

Excellent course with beautiful condition throughout coupled to an interesting design. Plays fairly long, even from the white tees, but rewards good shotmaking more than raw distance. This is especially true on the signature hillside holes. The signature example is #6 where you face a narrow landing area complete with lots of OB surrounding bunker studded rough inlaid with a tight fairway. This a ~190 yard carry on a hole that checks in at 441 on the card. However it is VERY downhill and with a roughly 225 yard drive I had 6 iron to the green. The approach is similarly narrow but a well controlled shot has a good chance at getting close to the pin. The amenities at this course are first rate too. Very friendly staff, upscale feel and nice carts with GPS. A must play! read more

I was very excited to play at Journey and the course slightly exceeded my expectations. The layout is great, the carts are fun... and a little funky at times when they randomly stop and slow down. Overall the course is unique, well kept, and interesting. My only beef is with the staff here. They just are not super friendly and warm. I felt like a nuisance at times... and that is frustrating when you pay big bucks for a game. The pro shop worker came across very snobby. Not very welcoming when it was our first interaction of the day. On the 9th hole our cart GPS screen flashed and recommended we order food. Which I did, only to have a very awkward conversation with the girl at the restaurant. When I said I wanted to order food, she must have thought I was someone she knew... like a local Indian or something, she was awkward and uncomfortable when I told her she was confusing me with someone else. Needless to say, I didn't end up ordering food. We wrapped up our last hole at dusk. The cart manager greeted us when we arrived at the clubhouse. He made us feel a little uncomfortable when he told us that his dinner was going to be cold because we were so late. Course 5 stars and staff 1 star. So I kindly rounded up my overall star rating to 3 stars. I think that is more than generous. read more

This golf course "sniffs in" at about 4.5 stars... Here is an excerpt from my Food and Travel blog: This course is super well maintained and about as green as they come. The course features the highest golf tee in Southern California. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye views are prevalent up here. The FAIRWAYS are in fantastic shape with lush green grass. A road runner makes an appearance. Wigwams are present on the golf course in numerous locations. One of the golfer's we were paired with looks, dresses and occasionally hits like professional golfer, DJ (Dustin Johnson). Both these guys are "opening a can" on the ball. A tee pee is located in the hills. The price tag is hefty but it does include free bottled water which is well needed today in spite of not being hot. Even the ROUGH is lush, green and borderline immaculate. It's pleasantly ridiculous and in SoCal about as rare as finding a Democrat in Corona Del Mar. The bathrooms on the course are probably the prettiest and the cleanest in SoCal. Their CARTS feature thick padded seats and GPS. The GREENS are in pretty good shape. This is a very challenging course. read more

This course is a hidden gem. I visited here on Friday & greens were rolling really nice. Amazing view from hole 6. Besides Torrey Pines a view can't get much better! The cart girls were awesome especially Monica. Her & V did several rounds while I was there & they came by with a great smile & attitude each time! For lunch I got a Caesar chicken wrap with added buffalo sauce. It was delicious, one of the better chicken wraps I've had. The chef did a good job,but definitely could use some more chicken in it for the price that it is. Will definitely be back in the spring once their course renovations are done. Ooooo how I LOVE this place!!! Besides the breathtaking view, which is just impossible to miss or ignore; the food is so delicious!! Our family favorite is the tenderloin Benedict!!! The French toast is great, crab cake Benny, that salmon plate, the yogurt and fruit! Staff is extremely friendly and always tend to us and make sure we're good. They are usually always smiling and seem to enjoy being there which I love ! (Hate it when you can tell someone hates their job). Did I mention the crème brúla ?!? Yaaaaaas. Lol. A must try !!! Very disappointed how much money I paid to play this course yesterday and on my very first hole I have stupid construction workers blowing a horn during my swing not just once three times in a row on hole one. This is so disrespectful and totally ruined my whole day at the course. We will see if a manager or some one will call me to make this right. I paid for two golfers and $99 each and paid for lunch and so on. About $350 yesterday. Sad part is I golf this course at least twice a month so we will see what happens. read more

This place was fun! From start to finish, you get treated like you're paying a lot of money to play golf. There are coolers on the carts, water bottles available for free at the snack bar, they pick up your clubs at the car, range balls are included in the green fee, there's an excellent chipping and putting practice area, etc. They really roll out the red carpet for you, and that care shows on the course as well. There are a LOT of "signature" holes at this course - you know, the kind with ridiculously elevated tee boxes that make it difficult to figure out what club to hit? There's one in particular, and you'll know it when you get there, that plays about half as long as it says on the card. DON'T OVER-CLUB! The greens are almost links style; they're long, undulating and punishing with balls that hit the wrong end of the dance floor. The number of putts you've got on the card will go up drastically if you don't club properly! My only -legitimate- gripe is that it took me 6 hours to finish a round, and nobody likes that kind of play. I didn't see a single marshal to complain to, either, and that really should be addressed. The USGA makes a big deal out of it for a reason! read more

One of the worst rounds of golf I have ever played. I've played here a few times before and it was great. Not the same experience this time. Incredibly disappointed. They had a frost delay, which Is obviously not their fault. But you can't jam everyone in after to try and make up for it, especially if you're going to force cartpath only on this huge course. Took almost 3 hours for nine holes. Also, no over seed, so you're paying $125+ to play on dormant fairways. I quit after 10 holes. Not even worth it. read more

This is a place we take pride in for us who live in the Temecula valley. Love playing the course with my husband and friends. Beautiful views, nice restaurant for breakfast before the round. We've been going there for years. However, the golf course staff make it so hard for me to feel like going there again. The head guy in pro shop (not the head pro though) always has a bad attitude. Whatever issues you might have, he never wants to help. Terrible representation for such a nice place. read more

Great golf course. Amazing layout. Fabulous condition (normally). I can't say enough, and now I will suffer for it as all of you reading this will be bunched up in front of me when I play next :) The only downside is occasionally slow play and normally no ranger. I don't understand that, but we typically just skip some holes when things really slow down. I love the fact that this course is 2 mins from my home and is THIS GOOD! Amazing and memorable views await you at nearly every hole, with some burning themselves into your brain. You will wish you were coming here every time you play. The only "tricked up" part of this course IMHO are the 10th and 18th greens. You would never see a major played on a course with greens like these. You'll know what I mean when you play this masterpiece. Fairways are generous - plenty of places to miss. The short holes are the ones that may eat your lunch due to the precision required. You need every shot and every club in your bag to score here. Greens are HUGE ... did I say big ... I mean MASSIVE in size and stimp our around 11 to 12, like the PGA tour (at least when the course isn't playing $59 winter golf). They roll true (normally), and have big undulations, so you will need to bring your flatstick skills here to avoid a lot of 3 putts. Overall, an absolute joy to play!!! Just remember to speed up when you're in front of me. I like to finish in 3.5 hours ;) read more

Don't play this course right after the greens are punched. My wife and I played on May 28, one day after the greens were punched (for non-golfers, that means that thousands of holes have been punched into the greens, which adds life to the greens but it makes putting incredibly difficult right after it happens). Because we bought the rounds through the hotel's special golf package, rather than through the golf course directly, the hotel reservations people didn't (or wouldn't) tell us that the course's greens would be pretty much unplayable on the day we wanted to play. We complained to the pro and every golf course employee we encountered that it sort of sucked that we weren't told that the greens would be in terrible condition, but other than a "sorry, Jack," that's all the relief we received. Other than the greens, the rest of the course appeared in pretty good shape. We probably won't return. read more

NICE! NICE! This place is amazing! The best kept course, with the most incredible views to make you forget how fookin HARD it is! I'm not sure about the slope ratings or green fees or anything like that -I'm a total hacker who's been lucky enough to play in a couple of charity tourneys here. I am SURE that it's going to be a grip to play 18 here. But that's cool cause you can head to the casino after and hit the video poker at the round bar for $500- oh wait, that's just me!! Everything about this place is quality- the carts have the coolest GPS set up ever and I swear the cart girl came by 10 times (it's so fortunate that beer is an excellent hydrator...what? It's not? Well it kept fluids running through me all day anyway). Journey at Pechanga is just another cherry on this place. The restaurants, shows, rooms and yes, even the gambling rock here. Played 9/6/15. The golf course, Journey at Pechanga, I give 3.5 stars. Not worth $135 but if you can get a deal through underpar.com or the like for around $90 a round like we did then you you'll feel better about your experience. As far as the staff inside the club house, specifically in the pro shop, I give 1 star. This 1 star rating is from the gestapo way they go about about enforcing their "no outside alcohol" policy. They'll ask you point blank, right when you check, if you have any alcohol in your bag and then search and confiscate any alcohol they find. I had 4 beers in my bag that i told them about when interrogated at check-in. They say they'll hold on to it and give it back to you at the end of the round. In our case we did the free replay that came with the underpar.com deal and didn't finish until 7pm. When we got back into the clubhouse it was locked and no one left working could get into the room where they had our personal property. They gave us the option to come back to BFE (Temecula) the next day to retrieve or confiscated personal property, yeah right. This leads me to the free replay deal they entered into with underpar.com. After finishings or fiist round at 2:00 pm and looking to replay, they said the earliest we could get back out was 3:20pm. I asked, why so long, do you have booked reservations until then? They said, no but they like to leave it open, presumably for the nonexistent paying twilight players. So we had a long lunch while watching no one tee off when they finally came and got us at 3pm. In conclusion, I wouldn't play here again if they paid me. Every course in the country has a "no outside alcohol" policy but none that I have played used gestapo tactics of interrogation and search and seizure. Everyone I know who likes to have acouple beers on the course sneaks a couple beers in their bag in an effort to save a few bucks to reduce the overall cost of a very expensive sport. Lots of better courses closer to civilization where you don't have deal with the penny pinching antics of the Pechanga Indian Reservation casino. read more

As noted in my last review, I needed another year of lessons. Well, I've been a diligent student, taken another year of lessons, upgraded my clubs (I love my Mizunos!) and I had a great time today! It is a dang tough course - lots of gulleys, streams, high rough, elevation changes, the works. I shot an 90 and I was super proud! The hot ticket - ask for the couples rate - we played on Monday for $139 for the both of us which was totally worth it. I can't wait to go back (when it cools down!) Enjoy! read more

Staying at the hotel and despite there being a construction zone between the hotel and the course I came over to the course to hit some practice chips and putts and was thinking about playing tomorrow. As I'm walking to the putting green, fully dressed in golf attire (and after playing for several hour in the casino) and while there are still 2 more hours of light left and people on the course I was told that I have to leave. I told the golf course employee I'm staying at the hotel and it has always been my understanding that the practice facilities were free to golfers and hotel guests. Also last time that I came out to practice here, I found about 40 of their range balls around the long rough and neatly put them into a pile on the side. I also usually fix around 20 or so divot marks I find on the chipping green wherever I practice. I understand policies and business hours but this is so silly to have a gorgeous course and great practice area and kick current hotel guest off the practice green while people are still on the course playing seems ridiculous to me. I had looked forward to practicing all day long and did some work and played some machines, had food in the Pechanga restaurants and wanted to enjoy the sunset while I practiced my putting. I highly recommend you skip The Journey at Pechanga and head down to the much more friendly Barona Creek Golf Club. The range is awesome and you can chip and putt till the sun goes down. Overall golf revenues in the US are down and courses should be loving to have people saying great things about their courses and facilities but Pechanga has lost a fan in me. The course is very hard and hilly so high handicappers will struggle here with fast greens, often windy conditions, many environmental areas that will eat up your golf balls. It's generally in nice condition but I won't be playing here anytime soon. read more

Do not be scared of the price. Weekday prices are worth it in my opinion and if you happen to be staying at the Pechanga resort, you get a small discount. Best time to play here is during the summer when twilight rates start at 2PM and rates are 50% off. Now about the course. This course is so well maintained and the pretty low level of play keeps this course in top condition. Everything on this course is in pristine shape from the tee box, through the fairways and to the greens. Greens run true and I'm guessing around 6-8 on the stimpmeter depending on what season you play the course. The layout of the course is simply amazing. Some of the views you get are quite nice even if it is of Temecula. I never pass up an opportunity play this course. This is one of Southern California's best courses. Be sure to also check out the food inside the club house. The food there is top notch to match the great course it's housed on. read more

The Journey At Pechanga is one of my favorite golf destinations in SoCal. It has some very challenging holes with breathtaking views from the top of the course. The people at the course are friendly and give the same great customer service as the Pechanga casino and hotel employees. Was a little disappointed that when I made my tee time they didn't mention that they close the range before noon on Tuesdays for maintenance work. We only had time for a few warm-up hits but we still had fun. We also enjoyed the Native American historical elements sprinkled throughout the beautiful course. Played last Friday and it was alittle slow pace. Its not worth the $150+ price. We paid $75 and that's probably enough. I would never go back and pay over $75. Its a great course though. The greens where the most deceiving greens I've ever played. Looks straight and then it wants to make a uturn. There is some very cool holes. My favorite was the hole where you carry the lake and the stream splits the fairway. there's 2 holes that have huge drop offs. I think one hole like this would have been enough.
