We visited the Joy Teriyaki on 99th on 4/6/17 and ordered the chicken curry katsu, teriyaki rice bowl, egg roll and miso soup. My kids RAVED about the teriyaki chicken and it was a great value at $4.99. The rest of the food was just ok. Everything came out at different times as it was prepared so we didn't really eat together. If we come back we will stick to the teriyaki bowls. read more

Have been going there for awhile. Love the yakisoba even if the service sucks. Today I ordered chicken yakisoba with extra chicken. $28, whoa! for two. When I got home it looked like a smaller portion than the regular dishes. Very disappointed. I'm afraid I've put up with crappy service for the last time. read more

For the last three months I've been going in less and each time reminding myself why I was so upset the last time. Portions are getting smaller and smaller. The cheap parts such as white rice are bountiful in the take home containers but when I ordered Mongolian white chicken, the bottom of the container barely had enough to cover the bottom of the tray. And I mean barely. maybe one cup. Yet two huge mounds of white rice. Three meals were the same small portions of the main food and one order was curry chicken and rice. They took a flat bottom tray, smashed more white rice down across the bottom and barely enough curry to cover the rice and not one piece of chicken. Joy teriyaki, if you want my business again fix that!!! I don't like getting $45.00 worth of my money taken and get home just to not eat so the rest of the family can. read more

Terrific counter staff! Very friendly and helpful. The owner stayed open a little late so I could pick up my order. Food is ok. Sauce is not too salty, and is quite good. I bought some for home cooking use. Freshness of the salad varies, depending on delivery days, I guess. Never had a problem with meat dishes. LOVE their tofu. Convenient and a go-to for the nights I don't feel like cooking. read more

This place is horrid. The gal working the room challenged the only 2 guests at 2000 to switch to take out rather than eat in because she had to clean... in a completely empty restaurant. I purchased a chick breast meal for a family member that was inedible. We actually threw it out. Stay out. This place needs to die a natural death. Do not go here. read more

Boss acts like he's not owner . He doesn't like giving out extra sauce. He's disrespectful to his Mexican workers. Some don't speak English perfect but he hires mostly Hispanics and then says don't speak Spanish in his establishment. What if the customers speaks Spanish first? He says too bad it's America make them speak English , yet him and his wife who is nice will speak Koren all day and then look at us ugly if we do one little thing wrong. He's rude and thinks is every customer is a thief and is out to steal his sauce. Your paying high prices but he's greedy with the food and has multiple cameras to watch our ever move that we are not giving more then one sauce. Really, go in when koren man is working and ask for extra sauce or grab the bottle on the side and he will be in ur face littered waiting for you to put bottle back. Worst boss ever - talks about all his employees... and is horrible with disabled customers or over weight customers using rest rooms. This place has gone reeeeeaaalllll downhill. When it opened it was fine. The restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. The floor is super sticky and has visible black gunk everywhere. It just looks filthy. The menu is covered in hodge podge labels with updated prices/menu offerings and they have random menu specials taped everywhere- most of which are extremely faded and beat up. The employees weren't wearing uniforms, just their street clothes, which is a huge red flag. At least wear an apron with the restaurant logo! It's just very unprofessional and their food is mediocre at best. This is an owner/management problem, not a staff problem. How they could let the restaurant get to this state of disarray is beyond me. They are doing their customers and their staff a major disservice. read more

No joy at Joy Teriyaki. A couple weeks ago I placed an order to go. When I got home, my egg rolls were missing. I called, and was told the next time I come in to let them know. I asked how they would know. I was told there would be a note with my phone number. Well no note. I was told this was not the first time this happened recently. But they were completely unconcerned and wouldn't do anything and didn't have a manager I could speak with. They have lost a customer and didn't seem in the least concerned about it. All it would have taken to keep me as a customer was an order of egg rolls and acting like you cared even a little. read more

They have curry that actually is quite good, and they don't just have terriyake they have various Asian food that is really good.

Got here at 8:30pm to order take out and they were closed even though it states 9pm closing...very dissapointing!!

I've been here multiple times. Each time the service and food quality gets worse. The portions are small, the service is inattentive, and the prices are high. If you order takeout when the owner is on site, your food will just barely cover the bottom of the to go box. They spread it out to look like more. read more

Food is good, nothing to write home about. Ive been twice, both times the kitchen looked filthy, I know kitchens get dirty, but there was a few weeks a muck visible when standing by to check out the menu. I hoped the 2nd time the kitchen would look cleaner but it didn't. Staff was okay, cashiers were prompt, but after taking my order they all stood in the back talking, I presume while cooking, maybe they should be cleaning up a bit, rather than talking the whole time. Terrible customer service over the phone. It's like they are answering their personal cell phone and a friend is calling. The staff needs to be trained to answer professionally and prompt you through ordering over the phone. This has happened the last few times I've called. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki and asked to switch out the salad and have egg rolls instead, which is not common, I know, but the response was first "hold on let me pass you to someone" followed by the next person just answering the phone with "hello". So I had to let them know I had called to place a to-go order and wondered if that had gotten started or not. The response was that it had not gotten started so I had to start over and this time when I asked for the substitution it was "no, we can't do that." So I asked if they could leave out the salad and then add a side of egg rolls and yes, indeed that can be done. They should have responded with that as an option (up sell! Come on!). I enjoy the food, but hope they can do better as a business professionally. read more

Worst service ever. The little red hair gal handed our meal to a customer that clearly came in after us by at lease 10 minutes. That ordered after i did for me and my family. It wasn't until I ask so politely about a couple of orders we never received . That then she brought us our meals and when they came out they were so under cooked it was sad . Environment: Tables were sticky and the decor was unfinished (empty frames). Piles of boxes in view of customers at the cashier stand and even though the place is fairly new, light bulbs out in the fixtures. Tea is served in styrofoam cups. No joke. Who uses sytrofoam cups anymore? How tacky and how incredibly environmentally wrong! Customer service: Non-existant. Order and money is taken by an employee who would rather be anywhere else and it shows Food: Sub mediocre Chinese fast food. Those menu items you're familiar with won't taste anything like they should -- at least mine didn't. The smells coming out of the place are out of this world, so we were really looking forward to eating there. Very disappointed. We won't be back and we encourage you to heed our warning. read more

We waited over 30 minutes for two simple entrees as we watched everyone who came in AFTER us get their food. When we finally got our food we got a snide "sorry for the wait" with no offer of compensation for a wait time that was absurd for the amount of food ordered. I think I've been to every Teriyaki place in town and I'm not really impressed with any of them. If you're into lukewarm teriyaki, Vancouver is the place to be. We usually just drive into Portland, but when this place opened up, we thought we'd give it a try. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The portions are big, the food is hot, and their steamed vegetables has to be the best side I've had at any Teriyaki place. They're very fresh. I also love that they have combination plates. I just wish I could do 2 different kinds of chicken instead of teriyaki and then an egg roll or gyoza. If I could get teriyaki and sweet and sour chicken in a combo plate, I would have given this place 5 stars. It's definitely worth trying. read more

This is one of my favorite place to go for daily lunch or dinner! I used to go to troutdale location, but once my cousin moved to Vancouver, I should've dropped by this place to get teriyaki for my family! This is all time my favorite. Their chicken is so tender and delicious!! when I left over, usually take home and get microwaved for just a couple minutes. It's still same condition even if it passes overnight. I usually take out the dressing bottle and make my own salad! Very great deal compared to other teriyaki restaurant. Nice and clean, and always great customer service!! read more

This is a frequent stop for my husband and I. Great tasting teriyaki sauce, large portions, good price.

Was hesitant at first only due to the very basic menu. We ordered, waited a little over 40 minutes, but instantly the first bite made the wait all worth it! My boyfriend and I were both very impressed with this place, and had a great inexpensive price point. We ordered egg rolls, Mongolian beef with rice, and Teriyaki Chicken with Yakisoba.
