    Mango boba

It is popular place in Chicago Chinatown Boba Place. I ordered Taro coconut boba which was way too sweet for me. The line and wait was was long. It took us about 20 minutes before we got our order so is it worthwhile waiting for me no.

Man oh man, when I have a craving for Chinese Food this restaurant is what I'm talking about. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Noodles, Beef Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, and Watermelon Slushies. The main entree meats all came with a side of white rice, my favorite and very clutch. They potentially have one of the largest physically sized menus I have ever seen (ha). Everything we had was all top tier haha As you can tell from the pictures, all delicious food and worth trying. I wish I lived nearby so I could try this place more often! If I'm in the area and I need something I can trust, Joy Yee is definitely a must. Appreciate the food and first time experience Joy Yee, I'll be seeing you soon! Personal Review: 8.8/10

Joy Yee -- a must-stop in Chicago's Chinatown! If you're heading to Chinatown, do yourself a favor and stop at Joy Yee. Great place, great location, and the service is fast and friendly. We came in with the family and left full and happy. The smoothies are the real star here -- they specialize in them and it shows. Every single one we tried was the best, fresh fruit blended perfectly. If you think it's just a drive-through smoothie spot, walk on around -- they've got plenty of seating inside plus a great outdoor patio, perfect for a family meal. And the food? Top tier. The fried rice, the fried vegetables, and the orange chicken (spicy or not spicy, your call) were all delicious. The fried dumplings with that sweet chili sauce were a hit too. Easily one of the best places to eat in the neighborhood. Bring the family, grab a smoothie, and enjoy. We'll definitely be back

I recently went back to Joy Yee Noodles in Chinatown after previously only trying their smoothies/boba drinks. This time, I sat down for a full meal, and overall I enjoyed the experience and would definitely return. This place gets packed, especially for the smoothies. The restaurant itself is a decent size, but the tables are very close together, so seating can feel a little tight. The ambiance is pretty simple and nothing overly memorable. They have a faux greenery wall with the restaurant's name on it and the smoothie counter area when you first walk through the doors. One thing I will say is the menu is HUGE. They have an overwhelming amount of options, which can honestly make it hard to choose, but at the same time I do appreciate that there's something for everybody, especially for picky eaters or people craving different kinds of dishes. I ordered the Thai curry shrimp, and it was honestly delicious. The shrimp were large, flavorful, and they gave a good amount. I didn't expect the green beans in the curry, but it actually worked well with the dish. My only complaint was that they should give more white rice with it because I ran out of rice quickly and still had a lot of curry left over. My boyfriend ordered the orange chicken. I personally thought it tasted really good, but he felt it was just okay..nothing to rave about. His brother got a Pad Thai dish and cleaned the entire bowl, so I'm assuming he really enjoyed it. After dinner, we ordered smoothies, and they were pretty good as well. One thing I found interesting was the service style. You order directly with your server, and there are staff members standing around if you need anything..you can literally raise your hand and someone comes over quickly, which I appreciated. However, the food delivery itself was a little impersonal. Workers push carts around with multiple tables dishes on them and stop from table to table dropping food off. I'm assuming this is common in Chinatown restaurants because I've seen it before, and while it's efficient, I'm not sure how I feel about it service wise. It felt less personal, and I did notice food sitting open on the cart while stopping at different tables before finally arriving at ours. Overall though, the food was good, the portions were solid, and I'd definitely come back again.

I got sick during my trip to Chicago and desperately needed soup so I spontaneously chose to eat here during my visit to Chinatown. Although they were very busy, they seated us pretty quickly and the food also came out fast in my opinion. I love how there's soo many options to choose from. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and short rib pho special. The pho was HUGE but it hit the spot!! The sauce for the spring rolls was so good. I wish I had the appetite to try other dishes on the menu. They offer a lot of drink options as well. Would definitely recommend if you need something fast and coming with a big group since there's something for everyone.

We went to sit inside. We got seated immediately we went during lunchtime it wasn't that crowded. We ordered the beef short rib soup and kimchi fried rice. As you can see in my picture there's no sign of a soup it's just noodles but in their menu it's called a soup. The noodles were garlic soy sauce noodle noodles. It was good! I had no complaints. The kimchi fried rice was very good as well too. The beef short rib is sweet and slightly lemongrass flavored. This whole meal is for the sweet and slightly savory palette. The garlic noodles honestly had way too much garlic on them. But once I ate it later in the day it was good. When you sit inside the price that you see on the menu will not be what you're charge you will be charged $23 instead of $16. Definitely clarify if that is the sizing price, we assumed we got dinner portions. You do get more than enough to take home. I will say about this place is if you do try something new you will have an interesting experience!

Coming to Joy Yee was my first trip to Chinatown in Chicago. Was a pleasant experience! The restaurant had a relaxed and colorful vibe, and the service was swift. We w bites the food family style and were impressed with the flavor of both dishes. The eel in the rice was the best eel I've ever had. I look forward to my next visit!

Biggest menu I've seen in my life! Tried the chicken pad Thai. It was more Chinese style than Thai style, so if you want Thai pad Thai, find an actual Thai restaurant. Egg roll was great. They don't serve Coca Cola products here so had to resort to Diet Pepsi.

    Chicken and Veggie Chueng Fun

So much nostalgic Asian American noms all seasoned perfectly! Some of my highlights were the: 1. beef cube - comes with yellow rice, delicious but wish there was more meat 2. chicken and veggie cheung fun - chewy rice noodles and the flavor will surprise you! 3. pho - savory broth with good noodles Definitely recommend coming with a group to do family style meal to get a little bit of everything. Also look at that extensive drink menu with photos! We got the mango smoothie and it was nice thick and creamy smoothie and tasted like there were actual real mangoes used! 100% would come back, large restaurant with a lot of seating but can get filled up fast. Staff was fast and provided extra bowls and utensils for family style meals! We had a party of 6 so there was a 18% service charge already included

My 5 Takeaways (in under 60 seconds) Location: Conveniently located and easy to spot in the newer part of Chinatown. A short distance from nearby street parking and parking lots. Vibe: Upbeat and modern, with plenty of seating and nice décor. Service: Attentive, fast, and pleasant. Our waiter did an excellent job and made our visit enjoyable. Food: HUGE menu with an abundance of food, drinks, and options. I'd be surprised if anyone couldn't find something they want. Our meals were delicious - big portions, well prepared, nicely presented, and everything tasted great. Quick Tip: The spring rolls are made with fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. Also, they serve soda in cans (with a glass of ice on the side) instead of from a fountain.

fast service, good food, and large portions. For the amount of food that we got and the price point it was perfect for two people with option for to go. We also got the bubble tea drink, which were extremely large and yummy. There was plenty of seating with no wait. The chicken was fragrant, and the curb ran guns were delicious perfectly fried.

    Marquese C.

We were seated upstairs, upstairs offers overflow seating and is very spacious. The ambiance was nice and lively downstairs, upstairs it was more chill and not as decorative. The food was on point. I went with the spicy tom yum chicken fried rice and it was delicious. We tried a a few various fruit teas and everyone seemed satisfied with what they ordered. I'd come back if and when in the area. Their menus is massive and has a lot to offer.

    Kay P.

Joy Yee has tons of seating and is a huge place in Chinatown! Their dishes are pretty good but I love getting their milk teas as a little sweet treat while walking around Chinatown. Service is quick if you just order a drink and the lychee rose milk tea is delicious.

    Do you require reservations?

We just went in 2025 without reservations. It was a busy lunchtime on a weekend. We just gave our name, waited about 5 minutes, and we were seated.

Will they allow me to sit outdoor with my pet inside a stroller? Or if I buy take out, is there any outdoor seating nearby? Thanks!!

I'm not sure what they have for outdoor seating but there is a park nearby with benches.

Where's the best place to park nearby?

S archer and Princeton has a guarded lot , but you have to go through the whole of the shopping complex or in front of the giant statue in the center of the shopping complex. Joy Yee is in the middle next to the big courtyard

Sunday Funday with a fantastic first visit to a Chinatown gem!…read more I felt like Chinese food today, and rather than eating at my neighborhood regular, I wanted to go straight to Chinatown for the most delicious, authentic experience. Thanks to my deep dive and discovery on Yelp, MCCB turned out to be the perfect spot to achieve this. The restaurant has held its Michelin status for five years now, and for my first time visiting, the flavors here were incredible. Please note: the restaurant signage is not easily visible from the street since the storefront faces inward toward the mall plaza, and while looking for it, I ended up asking a local man and his wife for directions. He was so kind and welcoming that he unexpectedly left his wife on the sidewalk, my husband in the car, and walked me right across the street and into the mall to point it out from the inside! WAIT TIME: there is a 1 to 1.25 hour wait period to be seated for a table, and a $10 fee via credit card is required to secure your spot, which is then fully transferable to your bill upon checkout. The wait is a great time to walk, explore the shops, restaurants, all Chinatown has to offer, and get your steps and miles in! SERVICE: our first server, Allen, was a bit on the stiff, curt side, but overall nice. However, we had to move from a two-top table to a four-top to accommodate all the dishes we were trying. In that changeover, we were blessed to get one of the BEST servers there, Ashley, who made the experience wonderful. FOOD: we ordered an absolute feast, starting with three starters. The Cheng Du Style Dumplings were fantastic. The Crispy Crab Rangoons were actually not mini at all and had a great crunch. The Szechuan Style Cucumber was a bit underwhelming and a slight bit on the soft side for my tastes, as I prefer my veggies crunchy even when cooked. We ordered everything with the mild heat option so there was no overwhelming spice, just great flavor. For the main dishes, we started with the Cauliflower Flank Steak and added broccoli to it, which was a fantastic addition. It is cooked in an oyster sauce and has none of the standard sweeter seasonings of the other dishes. I chose this to balance a sweet and salty rationing across my dishes, finding that MCCB is a great place to get that perfect balance. The Chicken in Spicy Garlic Sauce was perfect with the mild heat option as well, and the Honey Black Pepper Flank Steak was also incredibly savory, tender, and good. We paired everything with garlic string beans, white rice, and a great jumbo shrimp fried rice. I preferred water, while my husband had a few Diet Cokes. The food comes out hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. PARKING: parking is convenient--there is street parking or you can use the two north and south lots within walking distance. The north lot is on Archer and Wentworth, and the south lot is on Cermak and Wentworth. Validated parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 hours, and you will only pay $3 with the validation. Just make sure to stay within that time limit and get it validated, because if you go over the 3 hours or forget the validation, you will have to pay the full price for the lot. PRICE: the pricing here is very reasonable for a Michelin-recognized restaurant. Our dinner came out to just under $146 total, which offers phenomenal value given the large portions and top-tier quality. If you are seeking high-quality, delicious Sichuan food in Chinatown that completely lives up to its multi-year Michelin status, and can be customized perfectly to your spice comfort, this is a great place to go. Highly recommend and will return with family!

The cold gluten salad is a true highlight here, with an impeccable springy texture and an absolutely perfect mix of chili oil and sesame in the seasoning. The flatbread was also a standout, being perfectly crunchy and flavorful alongside a cumin lamb with a good punch. I was less impressed by the hand-pulled noodles. The soup itself was fine, as were the lamb intestines (though I really prefer them grilled). However, for hand-stretched noodles, the noodles were just lacking and missing something. The biang biang noodles were thick, chewy and bouncy, and like wider longer belts. The texture was actually so addicting and I devoured my bowl almost instantly. You can always count on Chi Cafe for a satisfying meal when hungover. Things have definitely changed over the years. After COVID, the hours became more limited, and the neighborhood has faced challenges that have unfortunately affected the area's late-night scene. It's sad but Chi Cafe still delivers when you're craving quick, comforting food. Whether it's a bowl of noodles, , baked rice dishes, Hong Kong-style cafe classics, or a late-night snack, the menu has plenty of options that satisfy those comfort food cravings. It's the kind of place where you know exactly what you're getting, and sometimes that's exactly what you want. The biggest downside is that prices have increased noticeably over the years while portions seem to have gone in the opposite direction. What used to feel like an incredible value now feels like a clear case of shrinkflation. The portions are smaller, and the bill is definitely higher than it used to be, which can be a little disappointing for longtime customers who remember the old days. Even with those changes, I still find myself coming back here just not as often. There's a nostalgia factor that's hard to replace, and the food continues to hit the spot when I'm looking for something warm, filling, and familiar. For me, Chi Cafe remains one of those places that may not be quite what it used to be, but it's still worth visiting when you're in the neighborhood and looking for a dependable meal.
