I recently went back to Joy Yee Noodles in Chinatown after previously only trying their smoothies/boba drinks. This time, I sat down for a full meal, and overall I enjoyed the experience and would definitely return. This place gets packed, especially for the smoothies. The restaurant itself is a decent size, but the tables are very close together, so seating can feel a little tight. The ambiance is pretty simple and nothing overly memorable. They have a faux greenery wall with the restaurant's name on it and the smoothie counter area when you first walk through the doors. One thing I will say is the menu is HUGE. They have an overwhelming amount of options, which can honestly make it hard to choose, but at the same time I do appreciate that there's something for everybody, especially for picky eaters or people craving different kinds of dishes. I ordered the Thai curry shrimp, and it was honestly delicious. The shrimp were large, flavorful, and they gave a good amount. I didn't expect the green beans in the curry, but it actually worked well with the dish. My only complaint was that they should give more white rice with it because I ran out of rice quickly and still had a lot of curry left over. My boyfriend ordered the orange chicken. I personally thought it tasted really good, but he felt it was just okay..nothing to rave about. His brother got a Pad Thai dish and cleaned the entire bowl, so I'm assuming he really enjoyed it. After dinner, we ordered smoothies, and they were pretty good as well. One thing I found interesting was the service style. You order directly with your server, and there are staff members standing around if you need anything..you can literally raise your hand and someone comes over quickly, which I appreciated. However, the food delivery itself was a little impersonal. Workers push carts around with multiple tables dishes on them and stop from table to table dropping food off. I'm assuming this is common in Chinatown restaurants because I've seen it before, and while it's efficient, I'm not sure how I feel about it service wise. It felt less personal, and I did notice food sitting open on the cart while stopping at different tables before finally arriving at ours. Overall though, the food was good, the portions were solid, and I'd definitely come back again.

Coming to Joy Yee was my first trip to Chinatown in Chicago. Was a pleasant experience! The restaurant had a relaxed and colorful vibe, and the service was swift. We w bites the food family style and were impressed with the flavor of both dishes. The eel in the rice was the best eel I've ever had. I look forward to my next visit!

Man oh man, when I have a craving for Chinese Food this restaurant is what I'm talking about. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Noodles, Beef Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, and Watermelon Slushies. The main entree meats all came with a side of white rice, my favorite and very clutch. They potentially have one of the largest physically sized menus I have ever seen (ha). Everything we had was all top tier haha As you can tell from the pictures, all delicious food and worth trying. I wish I lived nearby so I could try this place more often! If I'm in the area and I need something I can trust, Joy Yee is definitely a must. Appreciate the food and first time experience Joy Yee, I'll be seeing you soon! Personal Review: 8.8/10

We went to sit inside. We got seated immediately we went during lunchtime it wasn't that crowded. We ordered the beef short rib soup and kimchi fried rice. As you can see in my picture there's no sign of a soup it's just noodles but in their menu it's called a soup. The noodles were garlic soy sauce noodle noodles. It was good! I had no complaints. The kimchi fried rice was very good as well too. The beef short rib is sweet and slightly lemongrass flavored. This whole meal is for the sweet and slightly savory palette. The garlic noodles honestly had way too much garlic on them. But once I ate it later in the day it was good. When you sit inside the price that you see on the menu will not be what you're charge you will be charged $23 instead of $16. Definitely clarify if that is the sizing price, we assumed we got dinner portions. You do get more than enough to take home. I will say about this place is if you do try something new you will have an interesting experience!

(Kari's Rating 8.5/10) Came here in lunar new year and wanted a quick bubble tea. They had three traditional lion dance heads in the counter to admire too! I traditionally get the avocado freeze and it's my absolute favorite thing on the menu. I didn't get food this time so I cannot comment on that. But the avocado bubble tea with Boba is one of the best things they have on the menu. It's light, it's fresh, it's creamy and absolutely perfect for a warm day. The Boba here is my absolute favorite, it is chewy, it is not fall apart, it has the softest texture and the perfect amount of sweetness. They do have automatically asks now where you placed your order, but they also have a window where you can talk to someone. I've have eaten here before and I remember the food being relatively good, but I am here to only review the bubble tea!

fast service, good food, and large portions. For the amount of food that we got and the price point it was perfect for two people with option for to go. We also got the bubble tea drink, which were extremely large and yummy. There was plenty of seating with no wait. The chicken was fragrant, and the curb ran guns were delicious perfectly fried.

Joy Yee has tons of seating and is a huge place in Chinatown! Their dishes are pretty good but I love getting their milk teas as a little sweet treat while walking around Chinatown. Service is quick if you just order a drink and the lychee rose milk tea is delicious.

We were seated upstairs, upstairs offers overflow seating and is very spacious. The ambiance was nice and lively downstairs, upstairs it was more chill and not as decorative. The food was on point. I went with the spicy tom yum chicken fried rice and it was delicious. We tried a a few various fruit teas and everyone seemed satisfied with what they ordered. I'd come back if and when in the area. Their menus is massive and has a lot to offer.

So much nostalgic Asian American noms all seasoned perfectly! Some of my highlights were the: 1. beef cube - comes with yellow rice, delicious but wish there was more meat 2. chicken and veggie cheung fun - chewy rice noodles and the flavor will surprise you! 3. pho - savory broth with good noodles Definitely recommend coming with a group to do family style meal to get a little bit of everything. Also look at that extensive drink menu with photos! We got the mango smoothie and it was nice thick and creamy smoothie and tasted like there were actual real mangoes used! 100% would come back, large restaurant with a lot of seating but can get filled up fast. Staff was fast and provided extra bowls and utensils for family style meals! We had a party of 6 so there was a 18% service charge already included

This is our favorite spot to come when we visit Chinatown. Love the variety of the menu and how it includes both picture and description. It's a big menu too so super helpful. Everything we tried was great, super tasty and the wait staff was so great! We didn't care for the mushroom dish because the sauce was not what we expected, we were told we were probably looking for an oyster sauce base. They were so nice tho and took it off at discount to us. Love the clean and modern feel of this place and the big windows for people watching!!

My 5 Takeaways (in under 60 seconds) Location: Conveniently located and easy to spot in the newer part of Chinatown. A short distance from nearby street parking and parking lots. Vibe: Upbeat and modern, with plenty of seating and nice décor. Service: Attentive, fast, and pleasant. Our waiter did an excellent job and made our visit enjoyable. Food: HUGE menu with an abundance of food, drinks, and options. I'd be surprised if anyone couldn't find something they want. Our meals were delicious - big portions, well prepared, nicely presented, and everything tasted great. Quick Tip: The spring rolls are made with fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. Also, they serve soda in cans (with a glass of ice on the side) instead of from a fountain.

Joy Yee has been one of our family favorites for a while now. Their delicious Boba Teas; Taro is delicious. We love their Shrimp Pineapple rice they serve in a half cut pineapple. Their peppered beef cubes are also delicious. So are their short ribs. So many wonderful selections. Here. Very busy place. Get in before 9pm, as they close up early . Across from US Bank in the Center. When you get to the center of after going through the West Gate, Located across from Walgreens and in front of Lao Szechuan's. Amazing places. Many shops open until 9-10pm. Busy busy area for Souvenirs, Boba Teas, and more

    Do you require reservations?

We just went in 2025 without reservations. It was a busy lunchtime on a weekend. We just gave our name, waited about 5 minutes, and we were seated.

Will they allow me to sit outdoor with my pet inside a stroller? Or if I buy take out, is there any outdoor seating nearby? Thanks!!

I'm not sure what they have for outdoor seating but there is a park nearby with benches.

Where's the best place to park nearby?

S archer and Princeton has a guarded lot , but you have to go through the whole of the shopping complex or in front of the giant statue in the center of the shopping complex. Joy Yee is in the middle next to the big courtyard

The place was close to our hotel which was even better after exploring Chicago. When we go here we checked in and were asked to stand on the side and we will be seated. It did take awhile to get seated where other folks who didn't have reservations were getting seated before us. A hostess went to our kids menu on the table and then we waited some more. Finally a male host came and sat us. I think that was like a 15/20 wait. Our waitress was friendly and hospitable. She was cool to talk to and attentive to our needs this evening. We got the crispy rice wagyu and those were delicious. We also got the yuzo ribeye and black cod and those were really good. The kids loved the ribeye!!! I tried to get the lollipops but they sold out but I heard they are a great hit too. The noise level was very loud. It was so loud due to a party next to us who had a large gathering and were drinking heavily. Other parties left and the other side of the restaurant was still full with other folks but none around this loud group. Anyways - food wise and the waitress service was great. I was surprised and enjoyed out Food and visit that evening.

The restaurant wasn't busy at 7pm on Sunday. We ordered a few drinks, a few different dishes, and an entry from the kids' menu. We quickly received our drinks, which were delicious and exciting. A balanced drink containing tamarind? Come on! We then got our first dish, the Wagyu crispy rice. Amazing. Delicious. Then our sushi came out. Also great! Then Adobe fried rice with pork belly. Super satisfying! But then... a total stall. We hadn't yet received our edamame or our chicken entree. Our server asked if we wanted the check. At that point, our food had time to sit and no one was hungry. So our server asked if we were ready for the check. Sure. Our check arrived at the same time our chicken dish showed up. And still no edamame, which was an appetizer. We were also given another table's bill, which was totally different than ours and showed a credit for something and a zero balance. It was fixed, and we ended up paying our $50ish per person with the only adjustment being that we didn't pay for the edamame we never received. Obvious disconnect between the kitchen and service. But the food we did receive was exceptional. Drinks were novel and playful. But forgetting food and a weird service pace really diminished the overall elegance of Sunda. I feel like we drastically overpaid for the dining experience. We are on a family vacation, so instead of memories of a great meal we instead have a story of that messed up service and the weirdness that surrounded.

The vibe is speakeasy-ish; the entrance is off the street in an alleyway but the interior is very nice, low light, and would be fun for a date night! The staff were attentive and very friendly. My friend got some shots, which were surprisingly good given they were kind of sweet, and I ordered the "mystic lamp" cocktail ($16) which was VERY memorable to me as someone that loves floral drinks -- it was very floral, slightly fruity, and had a lovely chunk of lychee it came with which was delicious! The drink was decent sized too; I've been charged a lot more for much less drink at other speakeasies (those of which I don't plan to visit again any time soon haha). In my opinion, this spot has the perfect combo of great drinks, nice ambiance, cool speakeasy-vibes, but also cheerfulness given the tiki-theme inside. I was excited for the experience having heard how busy it gets, blah blah. These positive reviewers need to seek out other tiki bars. After you negotiate the alley entrance and go down dangerously dark stairs, you are met with crazy boring decor. I kept thinking there had to be more right? The whole point of a tiki bar is to strike a mood, but hanging a very few polynesian masks on the wall, putting up a grass facade over the bar and dressing the servers in vaguely polynesian outfits is sad. I've seen private tiki bars at people's homes that are more exciting. Add to this a comparably boring music selection played far too loud over boomy lo-fi speakers and you'll wonder what's going on here. So what about the food and drink? Completely uninspired for anyone who's had more than a mai tai before in their life. About a dozen extremely common drink choices is all you get!! No specials, that's it. When I asked if this was the whole cocktail menu, the server said it was but they have a full bar so you can get anything you want. Well, I could get that service at just about any bar in the world, so big deal. Maybe it would be better if you sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender. One could also go taste their rum selections and other cocktails in the Bamboo Room, but I hate that kind of elitist nonsense. That's never been what tiki bars were about. The drinks we sampled were okay at best. Even the namesake 3 Dots and A Dash cocktail was lackluster and used cheap cherries for the dots instead of classic Luxardos. (If you know, you know) The appetizers were okay, but way overpriced. 5 tiny spring rolls for $18. Come on guys, enough already. I'd rather go to the bar at the Polynesian Hotel at Disney than return here. This place is a hard pass.

We had the Dan Dan Slap Noodles, Crab Rangoon and Xiao Long Bao that had us wishing we came hungrier to try more dishes. The chef offers a new, fun twist to Chinese favorites; the pineapple and mascarpone-almond filling in the Crab Rangoon was excellent! Our wonderful server recommended the Dan Dan Slap Noodles, it being his favorite dish, and it did not disappoint! The Chai'd and True cocktail had me rethinking my opinions on bourbon it was so delightful. Come hungry!

We made reservations for brunch on a Sunday. This place was packed when we arrived and we were…read morestill able to get seated right away. It's crazy it's completely died down by the time we were finished with our meal. The service was great, the interior decor was beautiful and the staff was friendly. The dim sum offered for brunch was good as well but pricey. Especially since some dishes were only offered with two pieces. If you have a party of three then you're kind of forced into buying two of the same dishes. Which is strange. Traditionally most dim sum dishes have three pieces. Rarely see 2 pieces being offered especially for double the price. We ordered their Jiaozi, Char Sui Bao, crab Rangoon, chilly chilli noodles, and their Xiang long Bao. All were great. The chilly chilli noodles is served cold and was very flavorful. The Xiang Kong Bao was amazing. The potstickers was probably my favorite dish and it's mess up char Sui Bao. We were going to order wings but they had ran out I guess by 12pm on a Sunday. I was also going to order fried rice but it wasn't offered for brunch. Overall despite the priciness of the menu, we still enjoyed our food and the service. I obviously knew what I was getting myself into by visiting this place, and can definitely see myself returning in the future.
