Not sure if their peanut sauce is home-made, but definitely better than and not the same as the generic ones in other Thai restaurants. We were in the neighborhood and searched for restaurants and this caught our attention. The 5 Star rating was encouraging and placed a pickup order for Spicy Wontons, Pad Thai (vegetarian), and Spicy Basil Chicken. It was a 7-minute drive for us to the restaurant and the food was ready when we got there. Everything had a good flavor and was not spicy, but the dish that stood out was the Spicy Wontons. The wontons were perfectly steamed and the sauce had a tangy and spicy flavor with a distinct flavor of burnt garlic. The food is fresh and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price you pay. One suggestion. Please offer a choice of spice levels for people who like some heat. read more

Ordered delivery. It was fine. I don't care for the food to come in cardboard containers versus the reusable Tupperware. It wasn't very hot by the time it got to us which I think is due to the car board. Ordered pad se ewe. Very meager on the broccoli. Mostly short noodles and light on the egg. I asked for medium spice and there was really nothing. Ordered spicy wonton appetizer that was in a Szechuan sauce but tasted mostly salty no actual flavor. We did delivery. They were supposed to call or text they left the food at door. Neither happened and we waited until finally had to go to car and it was sitting there. I idea how long. Food. The Tom Kao soup wasn't tasty and very bland. The potatoes were large pieces not totally cooked (raw) not to mention somewhat green. Disappointing after reading the reviews. Chicken Satays were also bland. Peanut sauce helped. The yellow curry was boring and again the potatoes were as described above. Overall a huge disappointment. THOUGH NOT MICHELINE RATED, JOY THAI IS AN EXCELLENT RESTAURANT THAT IS WORTH A DETOUR TO VISIT! While it would be equally at home in Chelsea Market on 14th Street in NYC, Joy Thai is located in a strip mall in McKinney, next to a Vape shop and Boba Tea establishment. Tastefully decorated in a modern style, it's a perfect backdrop for an intimate date or lunch with friends. The service is excellent, the food is fresh and the curries and sauces accompanying each dish are inspiring. My favorite dishes would be the Panang Curry and an order of Vegetable Spring Rolls, though there is not a bad item on the menu. As a word of caution, though I enjoy spicy food, I usually order the curry dishes "mild" as "Thai Spicy" is not for the faint of heart! I couldn't be more excited to have an actually GOOD Thai food place near my house. Me and my husband ordered the drunken noodles with chicken (medium) and it was amazing! Chicken was moist and flavorful. We love the grapow it was sooo good. Delicious! This makes me so happy to have yet another great restaurant nearby. We ordered drunken noodles with chicken medium spicy. If you can't handle the heat don't order medium. I love some spice and will order it this way again but my mouth was on fire. Those noodles sopped up all of that spice. We also ordered the fried chicken wings spicy and they were amazing. The dry rub has a delicious flavor and the sauce they serve with them is sweet with a hint of lime. Perfect pairing. The last item we ordered was yellow curry with chicken and brown rice - hot. Food is fresh and delicious -- we had the Tom Kha, which was flavorful and creamy, the avocado pot stickers were like crabless Rangoons of awesome and the pineapple fried rice was perfect with large pieces of chicken. This restaurant is great! The Pad Thai is very flavorful with plentiful veggies that taste very fresh. I ordered 2 stars for spice level and it was pretty spicy but in a good way. We also ordered the Pad See Ew and that was also full of vibrant tastes. The portion size is definitely enough for two meals which is a great value. Tried Joy Thai Kitchen for lunch and had the drunken noodle with shrimp and the garlic chicken wings. The flavor in the drunken noodle was spot on and so good. We're gotten take out a few times. The food is great; pad Thai, drunken noodles, curry all good. One issue is the heat level is inconsistent maybe it depends on the chef. We typically get 3 or 4 out of five at other Thai places. Our first time we got four it was flavorful but VERY spicy. Next time we got level 3 and it had no spice no flavor. This place is cozy and people are friendly. My favorite is the Tom Yum Soup w shrimp, Crab meat fried rice, the spicy wings, 3 favor fish. I think all of the dishes are great as well. I ordered my party size trays from them every week for my Xmas Party. I caught myself keep ordering the same few things every time. I'm gonna try other dishes next time. Food's okay (like most Thai restaurants). The price is a dollar or three higher than the other comparable restaurants but I am okay with that as they are close to home. I have ordered from here several times and found everything to be fine except their Pad Thai. Others may disagree but I didn't like it much. They use thin noodles and they were all very lumpy and light on every other ingredient that was supposed to be there. The next time they took the order wrong on the spice level and when I called them to complain it took them a long time even to apologize let alone do something about it. This place is amazing. I ordered the basil eggplant with tofu and asked that it be spicy. Normally when you order spicy at Thai places, they don't make it spicy, but they definitely did here. I think I drank 3 glasses of water by the time I was done. The lady who waited on me was super friendly and attentive. I live about 45 minutes away so I can't regularly eat here, but if you're more local, definitely try them out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Their drunken noodles are still probably my favorite meal of all time. I could eat them just about every day. They are SO good. However, the last 2 times I ordered it with shrimp it was questionable. Last time, the shrimp was so mushy I was scared I was going to get food poisoning. I honestly don't know why I continued to eat it. It didn't taste like any shrimp I've ever had before. It was scary. This time, some were okay and some were very mushy. It's a texture thing. They might be thawing them oddly? Not sure. The last 2 shrimp orders were months apart though, so it's not like it could have just been a bad batch. I may stick to tofu from now on. Which is a shame (even though I love tofu) since their shrimp is so jumbo and they give you so much. But it's just not the same as it once was. They've also added more tea flavors since my previous review and I finally tried the mango OG as well. The mango was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too sweet how it came. I had to brew an entire gallon of my own black tea and mix it to cut the sweetness and even then it was still strong and sweet. But the Okinawa brown sugar milk tea with boba is sooooooooooooooo good. Pretty sure their drunken noods & Okinawa tea would be my pick for death row meal, but I don't plan to ever find out lol. read more

We order at least 2x a month for the last 12 months. Always fast- hot and fresh! Family counts on this to deliver and they do! Only recommendation is to use longer grain rice for the fried rice. The family calls the restaurant "Little Rice" but it's still grrreat! Lol read more

Ordered takeout here on a Saturday at lunch. It is very near my house and I love Thai food so was looking forward to trying it, and hoping for the best. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Green Curry w/ Fried Tofu, House Chicken Fried Rice, Thai Crispy Spring Roll and Tom Kah Chicken soup. The rolls were crisp and the soup was loaded with mushrooms and chicken, the flavor was the right hot sweet balance. My main complaint about all the chicken dishes is they used the exact same saltine shaped (and sized) pieces of white meat chicken in every dish. They were a bit overcooked, tough and bland which detracted from the fresh made appeal of good Thai food I like. They are relatively new so I will let them learn a while and try it again. 4 stars is too high and 3 is too low, so I erred on the positive side. read more

I placed an order here and when I got home, found out that they messed up the order in a pretty significant way. When I called to ask for a refund, they said they can't do a refund but that they could give me a credit on the next order. When I called the next time around, they said they never agreed to give me a credit, and then the owner got on the phone and straight up lied, saying I have to drive back to the restaurant and give the food back in order to get a refund. This is not what the cashier told me, and she even told me she talked to the owner before agreeing to give me a credit. The owner started to yell at me over the phone and told me that she didn't want to serve me anymore and not to come back to her restaurant. She actually told me that the mistake wasn't a big deal!!! Unbelievable. Absolutely trash customer service, will never order here again. Very rude, disrespectful, and surprising to be treated that way. This was just for less than $15!!!!
