The food is good, the short ribs are my favorite! They have a bar of appetizers of all shorts. And a bar to of many different ingredients to concoct your own sauce/s. You can add $5 for the ramen bowls/pots, every one at the table would have to pay $5 each. (Have yet to try the ramen). My wife, and I were spending the weekend in Corpus Christi. We saw J Pot Korean BBQ on "restaurants near us", on my phone. Sounded good, and we decided to give it a try, We were completely surprised. Our waitress Mariam was very patient, informative, and personal. She explained how their menu worked. It turned out to be a great eating experience. We loved being able to enjoy our drinks, while grilling the different meats. The flavor was incredible. The garden bar, sushi, sashimi, 15 various sauces, crab legs, even the small fridge with the ice cream was the best. Not to mention the saki bombers we had! We definitely plan to introduce J Pot to our friends. The best part was how reasonably priced the food was. It's was shocking to see how reasonable the price was, verses how much we both ate. Previously, my son had eaten here when they first opened this restaurant. He said that there were a lot of service personnel and food was immediately brought to the table. With this experience, I went today at lunchtime with my son. We were seated and our waitress Tevy, was friendly. Our first order of meats arrived in 5 minutes. While grilling the meat, I didn't see our waitress so I asked another waitress to take our order for our second batch of meats. We ate the first batch of meat then waited for the second batch. 15 minutes went by and nothing arrived. I flagged another waiter and he said he would check in the kitchen. He went in the kitchen then came out but completely ignored us. I waited 5 minutes more then approached the lady manager. I explained to her that we have been waiting for 20minutes and are very hungry already. She said she would check in the kitchen. She went in the kitchen then came to our table to say that they will bring it out shortly. So we waited again. By that time, it was already 30minutes and still nothing. I approached the lady manager again and told her that the wait time is already ridiculous. She again went in the kitchen. After 40minutes, our second batch of meats came out. We had ordered beef brisket, bulgogi, beef skirt, Toro. The meats were okay for the price. We personally witnessed staff working hard and tending to customers, while the manager consistently and negatively critiqued staff leading by intimidation and making comments in front of customers. Great concept but the way the prices work is crazy. We ordered at lunch time, two of us wanted the dinner options but then we were told we all had to pay dinner. My husband and I wanted the grill side and our kids wanted ramen, we had to pay the price upgrade for us all unless we all chose either ramen or grill. Kinda sneaky way to make the most for them. Giving low review because of that. Our server didn't tell us there was a time limit and at the end told us we were coming up to it. So then we felt rushed. She also kept forgetting stuff that was essential for eating and we had to ask repeatedly (bowls for our soups, knives for steaks, no drinks for two of our kids, refills). walked in saturday 8/24/24 around 2 and was told they were going to be open after 5. got there right at 5 and put name on a waitlist, there was so many people waiting inside that you physically could not get through, like seriously. my husband and i put our name and number down and was told we'll get a text after 10-15 minutes when our table is ready. we waited outside but kept seeing cars come and go, after about 30 mins we went inside to check and they said they had been calling our name for 10 minutes and removed us from the list, after being told we'll get a text when our food is ready, put name on list at 5, got a text at 10:30 pm that our table was ready and to head inside. "luckily" we got the pleasure of eating there and were sat when we headed inside and told them wtf??? kbbq is my favorite food, i just recently moved to san antonio from houston where we have a plethora of kbbq places, and let me say this is the most disgusting one i've ever been to. the meat itself was nasty. with either no flavor at all or nasty weird flavors. typically the flavors carry place to place when the meat is the same, but not here. i've never tasted anything like it and most of the meat came out frozen, or just 1 single piece. the hot bar is lacking incredibly and yet was the best thing there, which is sad for only 6 options and $85 for 2 people who just got waters. the grills kept going out and we moved tables 3x which was very inconvenient, with no type of im sorry or discount for doing so. everyone around us seemed very disappointed as well. after ordering meat you expect for it to come out very very quickly, but not here. first time ordering meat we waited around 30 minutes, no joke, for 1 piece of each meat. when there's 2 of us, and they did it too even for parties of 4. after saying something, our 2nd course of meat we were lucky enough to get 2 pieces of each. i was incredibly excited for there being a jpot opening right here next to me, but i will continue to drive past it and drive 45 minutes to the next closest one before returning here. over all: staff was rude and not even close to being prepared or trained food was nasty AF and woke up sick this morning. hot bar was nasty af too and was the best thing there. hotpot soups were not good and tasted just is was incredibly watered down to make more. very small portions, even for ayce costs MORE than any other kbbq/jbbq/hotpot in san antonio!!! do NOT waste your money here like i did and make the drive to a different one. will NOT be returning. read more
