I met some coworkers here for karaoke and was happy to discover this place. It was tucked away in a strip mall but was nice and cozy inside. There was a food menu and the food was actually pretty delicious! I had the pastrami burger and it was affordable and hearty (without being greasy). There was only the bartender taking both food and drink orders so I commend her for manning the entire place by herself. She did tell us a few times that there isn't table service but was nice enough to bring us our orders. Big Mike ran the karaoke machine and that was super fun! Overall an affordable and laid back place to kick back and enjoy a few drinks and some grub. read more

We were going to have lunch at Fifty9Fifty in Tierrasanta. Neither of us checked it out on Yelp or Goggle as we typically do. Upon arrival we found Fifty9Fifty to be permanently closed. We hopped back into the truck and headed down Santo Road. On the corner of Santo and Clairemont Mesa Blvd. tucked in the corner of a Vons anchored strip mall we spied JP's Pub. JP's offers food. We were hungry. We stopped. JP's looked like a typical no-windows, dark bar. And that's pretty much what we found. The place is big though. Large horseshow bar, pool tables, plenty of TVs. The obligatory regulars sitting at the end of the bar shootin' the shit. In other words; our kind of place! Our bartender Cynthia provided great service. The regs were welcoming and friendly. We weren't looking for a Michelin Star worthy meal, nor were we expecting one. What we found was some really good Pub Grub that was prepared with pride. The cook even came out and checked on us. He wanted to make sure our food was to our liking. Solid. Becky had the cheeseburger and I was intrigued by the fish sando, we shared some fries.. The burger was a good burger. It was a good ol' fashioned flat top burger, melted cheese, LTO, mayo, ketchup, mustard on a sesame seed bun. A pretty sweet deal for 12 bucks. The fish sando was really good. Was it a frozen Costco filet out of a bag? Probably. But it was seasoned nicely and fried perfectly. A tasty slaw covered the bottom bun, good tartar sauce up top. 8 bucks! This was definitely not a shitty Mickey D Filet O' Fish! Fries were really good. If we lived in the neighborhood we'd be JP's regulars shootin' the shit at the end of the bar. read more

It was great to see the Irish band playing here. Band was tucked in a side and the rest of the place could easily see and enjoy. It is spacious pub with pool tables, makes it ideal for groups. Cool staff and parking wasn't an issue, making it a fav spot. read more

After paying for my food and drinks the bar tender approached me and complained about sharing tips with the kitchen staff on half off burger night. She approached me amongst my friends and asked for extra tips on the the side. She complained about minimum wage despite me also working minimum wage for no tips. i would highly recommend this place but i would also caution you tip tip your bar tender directly after you drink there otherwise you might be hustled and pressured on the side. i love this bar but sad this happened to me. read more

With 2 pool tables, a jukebox, and ample bar seating, it is a traditional American dive bar that will make you feel right at home. They are open daily until 2am (kitchen open until 12pm-7pm Sunday/Monday, 12pm-10am Tues/Sat). The food is cooked fresh and absolutely hits the spot. Not to mention $2 tacos on Tuesdays and $0.75 wings on Thursdays! 5-stars all around for being about as local as it gets, fun, welcoming, and having a solid combination of food/drink. What can you say about JPs that hasn't already been said? I went to high school in Tierrasanta back in 1978 and JPs had been there. Changed owners maybe 3 times. JPs is Tierrasantas own dive bar (and only bar) If your a fan of cheap bar food, good and cheap drinks, packed with friendly locals (which I am) Then even if you don't live here, you'll like it. I've never seen shady people, fights, stupid drunks, at JPs. Just friendly people having a good time! Check JPs out. No need to get all dressed up, or act any different. I am furious with the quality, actually the lack of service I received from the employee seemingly be the owner, upon picking up a large pickup order that was placed over the Phone. When I arrived at the bar ( which was pretty fully seated) to pick up my order, I first exchanged words with one woman who seemed to be the most active employee working behind the bar. I told her I was here at to pick up an order for Kim (fake name for privacy purposes) . She then immediately directs me to the man standing behind the register. The First thing he says to me is " Let me tell you the truth, the order was placed at 5:30, we didn't think you would come so we gave away your food to the people In the bar." Then processes to doge accountability for his decision and immediately follows by saying, "you didn't come 15 mins after. The food was sitting here and it was getting soggy in the bags, you would've called and complained anyways." I replied "okay... well I'm here now so are you gonna whip it up again?" He laughed in my face for more than 30 seconds, as I just stand there watching the level of respect getting lower. I'm sure it's part of his position to help find solutions. It's basic customer service values. He then ask me the most disrespectful thing and suggested we call Kim and ask why it took longer than 15 mins to get the order. I am thinking he is definitely sipping on his own supply if he seriously has the Gaul to speak to any customer like that. I snapped and replied "look are you going to take my money and make me another order (over $70.00 worth of food)!" He replies "I don't care about the money I already gave it away." I am thinking; It's not my concern what you decided to do because you thought I wasn't going to pick up the large order that Kim placed via phone, I'm paying you for the oder I will receive to go. He then says " I'll have to charge you extra for taking longer than 15 mins." I walked away at that point. There are serval things that could've made this experience better a few are 1.) If there is some sort of time limit to pick up an Oder, (which is dumb) that should've been told over the phone Or posted on the website as that disclaimer was not given so I don't see the reason for the strong enforcement, unless you don't want to over work your staff. Which is not my problem, pay them more. 2.) Take accountability for the decision that was made and find a solution. You just laughed in my face and gave me NO sort of desire to support your establishment. The Excuses that were made were piling up and it was becoming disturbing. You said the order was placed at 5:30pm give you 15 mins to make which makes the food to be ready around 5:45pm I arrived around 6:10pm. It shouldn't matter how late I come to receive a pick up order, there also could've been steps to confirm my arrival if it mattered that much. I'm quite shocked this was my experience because the family I was picking up for said the food Is usually really good. I guess good food doesn't mean good service!! Nice little spot to chill and relax at. It has a cool divey feel, fast kitchen and even faster bartenders. Joey, Lila (also bartends at Paradise Lounge), Cynthia and Darren are staples and very welcoming. I first moved to the area in 2020 and they have been open virtually every single day, rain or shine, holiday or not. JP's is an unexpected and fun local find! It has a Dive Bar vibe tucked into a small strip mall in the suburbs. It's definitely popular amongst locals and they make you feel welcomed, even thought I don't live in the area. When I walked in a guy actually said, "Welcome Home!" to me. And added that he's here at least 5 times a week. It's a fun date spot to hang out for a bit. And it's not too loud, so you can still have a conversation. A decent little neighborhood bar not far from my work. Have been coming here off and on for over 15 years, but have had long stretches between visits.. I like the bar food they serve here, especially the fries and wings. And your order comes out pretty quick as long as the place isn't packed. One of the funny things I've noticed is you can go 6 months or more between visits and still recognize a few faces in there. That is a true neighborhood bar. I actually did know one of these regulars, cuz I worked with him for many years. He ended up with cirrhosis of the liver and never recovered...:( Every time I stop in here, I think of that guy while sipping on my beer... Really like the televisions in here, as there are many all around you. A good place to watch Sunday football with all the games on. Service can test your patience sometimes mainly because there is usually only one bartender for like 25-30 patrons. Overall a pretty good spot for a quick beer or two and relatively on the cheap for the most part. read more

Personally I love this bar. It's got soo much personality and it's a great change of pace but I'll caveat that this bar isn't for everyone. I'm over 40, I enjoy cheap strong drinks , juke box songs, pool tables and the smell of smoke outside! This is a great dive /neighborhood bar so if ur looking for glitz and glam this probably isn't the best for choice for you . Jp's to San Diego is allot like Cheers to Boston . Came in here to catch up with an old friend I brought my service animal and at the door was greeted by one of the drunken employees telling me to just get out I didn't explain to her that I have a certification for my service animal and to which has full legal rights to be with me I proceeded to order a drink and everything seem to be fine as I picked up my dog for a second and another bar attendee asked to pet my dog which I allowed he then told me very rudely that if it continued I would have to be asked to leave he then continued to Babylon about laws that he knows nothing about and that circumstances of me being in his establishment that simply impede my rights as an American citizen he continued to yell at me then grabbing the drink from my hand and asked me to leave his establishment in a very rude manner. I believe he was the manager unfortunately he was never properly trained in the rights of service animals and the reality and refusing service to someone who has a disability I would not recommend this place at all read more

Can't even stand going by this scum bucket place. All their patrons do is go outside and smoke!! The stench is disgusting and drifts to the poor Japanese restaurant next door. They are too nice to say anything, but I am NOT! You are supposed to be 21 feet from the entrance, but this stupid place puts a bench right outside the door......so that is where all the smokers congregate. It was so nice when they were closed during the pandemic.....one good thing happened.......unfortunately they are all back.
