It's weird I was just telling my bf I want Mexican food but not like all these places where the beans and rice don't taste so good I want some real Mexican food and one day his sister bought us food and she got me the wet burrito and black beans and rice and I was like where did she get this from? My once go-to local Mexican restaurant is now one of the last places I will consider. Let me preface by saying I write this review with a heavy heart, and I do not do it lightly. You can read my previous reviews and see that I was a huge fan and frequent patron. This review comes after giving Juancho and staff three last tries, and it delivered three Strikes... so now it's OUT. They have lost the spirit to make your meal special, and basically they stopped delivering quality food with reliable service on a consistent basis. You get one or the other, or on my last visit, you get neither. We had a large group get together there for a birthday and we got slow service, our orders were incorrect and the wait for the food was wayyyy too long. I mean, I could have driven home and cooked it, then brought it back to the restaurant in the same amount of time - and it would have come out all at the same time, and tasted much better. I've been here at least once a month for the last 2 years, some months almost every week. Things have just fallen off since the beginning of this year. I can no longer patronize and spend my money here... It does not value me as a customer and I was in denial for way too long. read more

Just moved around the block from this place and it's quickly become my go to! The servers are all so kind and accommodating, the food has been great, and the margaritas are always refreshing. I've tried their brunch, Chile verde burrito, and chicken quesadilla so far and all have been super tasty. Getting the table guacamole is a must! We went there again today. It's a family favorite. We usually went to the Ontario location by the winery, but they closed a while back. We like that the Upland location has a buffet. Great choices at the buffet. Only wish they had menudo daily but it's probably reserved for the weekends. Lots of ample seating. Good music playing on the TV. read more

I have spent an obscene amount of time at Juanchos. Taco Tuesdays and brunch Sundays are the best! We have been 3 times in one week on a few occasions. The staff is incredible (honestly they're the best part) and the food is delicious. Taco Tuesday is such a great deal, and the margaritas are the bomb!! Not that great.Tried this spot with friends and the reviews were good. It was a Sunday at we got there at 8(they close at 9). The staff was friendly. Sat down and ordered. I had the Juancho burrito ( carne asada). I truly hate getting pieces of fat , don't care how much flavor it ads .... The cold tortilla was not welcoming either. Just off the bat, the reason for four stars instead of five is that they over charged us for the food and drinks we ordered from the happy hour menu. PARKING: This spot is located in a small shopping center which allows for a fair amount of parking spaces. THE MENU: The menu had a variety of items from soups like menudo (served on a daily basis) to salads to burritos to traditional Mexican dishes such as sopes and enchiladas. DRINKS: definitely on the menu and the favorite for the night was my michelada! OUR ORDER: It was a chilly March afternoon so my hubby ordered the menudo and I the sopes with a side of flautas. The menudo 4 out of 5 starts; the flautas 5 out 5; and the sopes 3 out of 5 stars as the sopes were too thick and took away from experiencing the flavors from the test of the ingredients. We came here for a family dinner and everyone loved it. We ordered a variety of things such as: camarones a la diabla, molcajete, al pastor tacos, micheladas and margaritas. Everything tasted really good. The michelada mix was indeed very tasty and prompted me to order another. The molcajete was not only impressive, but the flavor was delightful. The camarones were the perfect balance of heat and flavor just like the al pastor tacos. Despite being so full we decided to order dessert, since everything had been so good thus far. The flan was highly recommended by our waitress and we trusted her suggestion. It was definitely worthwhile. We will be returning again. read more

Great service, great food, great entertainment. We were welcomed and notified about the buffet option upon entering. I wanted to take a look at the spread before I said yes or no and the employees were super friendly. We tried the buffet for the first time and there was a good variety for all of us. My favorite was the chile verde and the green pozole!! You have to ask for the cabbage and lemon but I had at least 2 bowls and I was super stuffed. I have also had the family packs of enchiladas and hard shell tacos here and they are a great value. My husband enjoyed the musician/singer. I used to go to the Juanchos in Ontario, and I loved it there. After they closed that location I found the Upland location and immediately fell in love. The ambiance is great with live music, very spacious. They have several servers and they are all attentive, and the food is just as good. I recommend the Molcajete. You won't regret it. read more

Had a huge party of 27 for my wife's birthday, and Juanchos was able to accommodate our huge party on really short notice. Service was exceptional, and the food was delicious and served warm. I had the shrimp enchilada. Think it was the best I ever had. Order the guacamole, made fresh at the table, exceptional flavor. The problem I have with this place now is I have noticed a trend. That trend is the food is not near hot enough coming from their buffet. I've noticed this the last several times. I'm not sure why they can't keep the food hotter. It's ridiculous and very disappointing to eat cold mexican food. We shouldn't have to. As you know Mexican food is no good eating it cold. Juancho's you need to get your act together and double up on the sterno cans or something. Fix the problem. Buffet food needs to be much hotter. read more

The best place to go for taco Tuesday! The food is absolutely delicious! So many meats to choose from, freshly made corn tortillas, and complimentary chips and salsa. Order the flan if you're a flan fan. It's my new favorite! Orlando is hands down the best server and gave our family excellent service. The atmosphere is lively and friendly. Heard about Juancho's a while back and this past Friday evening my wife and I though we would try it out. It was a long week at work and we decided to stop in and have a few Margarita's and a small bite to eat. As we sat in the outdoor seating area, we waited quite some time for a server to come by. As I was getting ready to walk out, my wife decided to go inside and see if someone was interested in serving us. Finally, a few minutes later someone did come out to take our order. We ordered a couple of Hibiscus Margaritas which were really, really good and a Juancho's Sampler. The sampler included tray included chicken taquitos, beef flautas, asada mulita and cheese quesadillas all served with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. The food was very good on the sampler and makes me want to try out their other dishes, but the services was some of the absolute worse I have had in a long time. Good service is one of the marks of a good restaurant and Juancho's did not have it. It was not very busy and the wait for water, drinks and food was abnormally slow and offered with no apologies from our server who seemed more annoyed to have to wait on our table. I can not say that I will be in any hurry to go back to Juancho's or even suggest it to others at this point. TLDR: Great lunch buffet! Always worth it! Food&Drinks: I have only eaten the lunch buffet here and it is always good every time. The taco meat could be slightly more tender but since it's a buffet and made for mass consumption, I get it. The tortillas are fresh which adds to the deliciousness. Service: I haven't had any issues here with service. They always promptly seat you and refill waters as you go. Bottom line: Whenever I'm not feeling the food that is served at work, I always gather some people to go eat here. Definitely worth it! read more

My first visit to Juanchos was pre-pandemic and I was thoroughly underwhelming. With the high volume of positive reviews and their convenient location, I decided to hold off on reviewing and waited for a subsequent visit. My second experience was as disappointing or maybe even worst. Covid Safety - Face mask enforced, aside from when customer is eating. Tented area set up for plenty of outdoor seating. Take out available. Complimentary chips and salsa with your meal. Much appreciated gesture, chips and salsa taste about average. I prefer chunkier salsa, but I know that's a personal preference. I'm not that picky when it comes to the complimentary stuff. On my first visit, I had the Breakfast Skillet ($11.99) which is served with grilled red skinned potatoes with two choices of meats, 2 eggs of your choice and sliced avocado. I asked for bacon and chorizo as my meats and my eggs to be prepared sunny side up, my fav. Everything was "just okay." Not great, not bad... but I could have prepared something similar at home. On my second visit, I came here with my friend MayLene D. We targeted this spot since we knew they had outdoor seating and a bar. We started off with their $5 Margaritas! MayLene D had the Mango Margarita and I had the Strawberry Margarita. We both opted for a blended version so we can enjoy it. I would rather go somewhere else and pay more so I can actually taste my drink. It was so watery that both the alcohol and the mix was minimal. Extra extra ice in here. So bland. Terribly disappointing. I forgot exactly what MayLene D ordered, but before ordering we specifically asked the waitress helping us if the food actually looked like the photo they had in the menu. She reassured us it looked the same and that it was tasty... Well guess what? What was a lie cause they food they brought out looked nothing like the photo. With the intent to try a bit of everything, I had their Fiesta Combination Plate ($14.99) that comes with rice, beans and 3 items. You can choose between pork tamale, (cheese, chicken or beef) enchilada, (ground or shredded beef, chicken, asada or carnitas) taco, and chile relleno (extra $1). I opted for the chicken enchilada, carnitas taco and chile relleno. The rice was DRY!! The beans were average. The tortilla wrapped the enchilada was so dry it might as well be a taco with sauce. The chicken was SO SALTY to the point it was nearly inedible. The carnitas, which is usually my favorite protein, was dripping in oil. Picture provided. As I picked up the taco, oil dripped all over my wrist. I gave up on the tortilla and was picking at the protein to eat with the rice and it was ALSO SALTY!! Jeez what's wrong with their chef? The chile relleno was without a doubt the best thing on the plate... by compare. Since it was the only edible item I can eat in full. I am never coming back here. Their food is awful and even their bar is disappointing. Giving them 3 stars already factored in some mad Covid pity... My personal experience of this place is probably closer to a 2-2.5 star. read more

I really liked this place so much the first time I went I thought I was going to become a regular. BUT they struggle to follow directions with food preparations so I won't be back. The first time I went I told my server I have a dairy allergy and she told me the veggie burrito without cheese would be good. They brought my order out with cheese on top. I figured no big deal since they of course fixed it on the spot. The food wasn't bad so I figured I'd try it again. I called in an order and told them no cheese on the veggie burrito the outside looked great and 3 bites in I start to see the stretchy strings of defeat and terror coming my bowels ways. I called to complain and wasn't even met with an apology just an offer of credit towards next item as if I'd ever trust them to feed me again at this point. I am super disappointed not only in the lack of concern or care but the lack of recovery and the way the food was packed didn't really prevent it from getting all over the bag before it even made it home to be disappointed. Lacking in flavor, service, and quality - I would not return. To start, the place had about 3 other patrons when my party arrived (i.e. empty) and service was not satisfactory. I had to ask twice for a straw, even though everyone else at my table was given one. Our server didn't have any recommendations when asked about the food. It seemed awkward at every interaction, which sucks because hospitality is necessary in the service industry. Mexican food is flavorful and delicious, yet the food was lacking, in my opinion. I had the Super Juancho burrito with asada and carnitas, wet with green sauce, and it was barely average. The carnitas were okay, not nearly as good as I've gotten from the Mexican markets, where you get flavorful, crunchy and salty parts of meat. There was a healthy portion of rice, beans, and carnitas. I felt like I barely got a taste of the asada because it was so finely chopped and didn't really taste like anything, besides meat and salt. As for the sauce, it tasted like it was from a can. It honestly would have tasted better if they used El Pato sauce or Las Palmas. If the reviews are any indication of consistency, I'd be happy to confirm it is hit or miss at Juancho's, as we missed out on having good food, good service, and a good experience today. 2 stars for below average service and over-priced mediocre Mexican food. read more

Came back for brunch and it's starting to get more crowded here so the word must be getting out about how great this place is! Hopefully it being a holiday weekend was the only reason it was so busy. Even with a crowded restaurant, the staff was amazing with the service and keeping the buffet stocked.
