Date: June 26, 2025 As much as it pains me to admit it--especially to my wife--I was wrong to give Juancho's Upland, Ca. location one last chance to redeem itself. Today's visit only reaffirmed why we stopped going in the first place. Upon entering the restaurant, we stood at the hostess podium for a few minutes. Two or three staff members saw us and simply walked by without so much as a greeting or acknowledgment. Eventually, I took the initiative and followed a waitress to the back to inquire whether the lunch buffet was still available. Without making eye contact, she snapped, "We close at 2!" That was the final straw. I took my wife's hand, and we walked out--again. This was our first visit in over a year, and sadly, it mirrored our last attempt: we walked in and quickly walked right back out due to poor service. Our family used to be loyal patrons of Juancho's, but over time, the service deteriorated so significantly that we chose to stop supporting the business altogether. It's a real shame because the food is genuinely good. However, the service has consistently been the worst we've experienced at any restaurant--and we're not customers who complain often. We're courteous, patient, and easygoing diners who tip well and appreciate good hospitality. Unfortunately, Juancho's has repeatedly failed to deliver even the most basic level of service. Ironically, we live just behind the owners and frequently see their company vehicle parked in the driveway. We've been tempted more than once to knock on their door and share our repeated negative experiences directly. But instead, I'm writing this in hopes that they, or someone who cares about this business, will listen. We will never return. And we'll be sure to share our experiences with others. Perhaps then, the message will finally get through: no matter how good the food may be, terrible service will always leave a bad taste. read more

I love Juanchos, especially their Taco Tuesday. $2 tacos with chips and salsa. Fresh tortillas and big selection of meat. My favorite is the carne asada. Great service and staff too. Carnitas plate is always good and so is their chicken soup. read more

I came here for their brunch buffet this past weekend and I absolutely loved it! The food and service was great! We ate outside because we had our puppy with us and the staff was so attentive. I love that the buffet includes tacos with handmade tortillas! They were delicious! My absolute favorite! The margaritas were also delicious!!! This was our second choice for a late lunch, and I'm glad we decided to come here after all. They do have a brunch that we just missed when we arrived. All the things I ordered was really good. Everyone seemed to also enjoy their dishes. I ordered the following: 1. Table side guac. It was ok. A big bowl of guacamole. Needed some spice and some salt to go with it. The regular salsa it comes with was good enough that in the future I wouldn't get the guacamole again. 2. Chips and salsa. Chips were cooked well. They're the thin type with a slight sheen of oil. Added a little bit of salt on them, and I think we went thru 6 bowls of chips... 3. Camarones al mojo. This was the entree, and it was REALLY GOOD!!! Good amount of shrimp. All cooked well. Seasoned amazingly. The garlic sauce /oil was amazing. Added an extra element to the food. The Mexican rice and beans were good, but nothing really great. Tortillas were homemade. When you combine a little bit of each onto the tortilla, it was actually really amazing!! To me it was one of the best Mexican dishes I've ever had. 4. Flan. For $4.50 it was well worth it. Sweet but not overly sweet. It was just the right size for one person. Great way to end the meal. It seems to be a small home style type restaurant. Service, for the most part, was fast. Food came out quickly. Only thing that took forever to come out was the bill. Which was borderline annoying, thus the minus one star. If the bill came out quicker, it would've been a definite 5-star review.... Price isn't bad either. Everything I ordered was only about $39. And the unlimited chips. Yes, please. O M G! This review is overdue by a few weeks, but since we couldn't stop thinking about the delicious meal and great service we had at Juanchos on 1/28/23, we headed back today and had another outstanding meal! Soooo... without further ado, I'm posting this review! (Oh! I'm a poet and didn't even intend to do that! lol) Back on 1/28 we were coming up from SD and just feeling a little peckish 1/2 way to home. Turned to my trustee Yelpers and saw Juanchos - Thanks, y'all, great call! (Ok, that rhymed too, but it can't happen a 3rd time.) Ordered one of my fave adult libations, a Cadillac Margarita, rocks, no salt. MAN! DEEE-DD-LICIOUS! Thank goodness hubby's a soda kinda guy cuz 1/2 way through that drink I was ready to fiesta like there's no manaña! Since I wasn't terribly hungry, I ordered their albondigas soup and a side chicken tamale, both made in house, just like their corn tortillas. Fantastic flavor on both! Hubs was excited to see they offer very simple burritos at a very fair price, so he got an all beef(shredded) and added cheese. He was very happy with his basic self! Nathaly, our server, was a pure delight! She knew the menu completely and made suggestions for our - very predictable - return, telling us all about their Sunday brunch and weekday lunch buffets. I would probably do that with friends as a meet up, but hubs just likes one basic thing, so a buffet isn't his jam. No one was immediately visible, but when she came out from the kitchen, BOY, did her eyes go big and her legs start moving! I wish I would've asked her name. I remember her helping with Nathaly before and I feel like she may be the owner. She was quickly hustling to get us all seated and set up, with a warm, welcoming smile. For awhile, I'm guessing maybe until 4pm, she seemed to be the only one serving, but that lady did NOT miss a beat! She was making drinks - again, a delicious Cadillac Margarita for me - grabbing chips and salsa, and taking all the orders - ALWAYS WITH A SMILE! Breakfasts are SERVED ALL DAY!!!! I went with the steak and eggs(carne asada & 2 over medium) with rice and refried beans and choice of 3 tortillas. I went with flour($15.99). SO DAMN GOOD!!!! The steak was cooked to perfection! It was a flank steak, which can be easily overcooked, but this was so tender and flavorful. The eggs were perfect! Tried to do a video "egg pop", but I'm not as good as my Yelper friends. I need more practice. lol Hubby went with his all beef burrito and added extra cheese - YUM! He delightfully proclaimed! Again, he was nice enough to go for coffee and soda and do the driving home. That Cadillac Marg is perfectly strong. We were checked on regularly and commented on our return. Again we were invited to try the brunch and weekday buffets. We also remembered a gentleman setting up a guitar for the evening play on the Saturday of previous visit and we're told, yes, they have live music for Sunday brunch and weekend evenings. Gosh! That would be another lovely aspect of this restaurant. Well, 2 great meals within a month, both with excellent, friendly service gets you 5 stars from me and my hubby do agree! (Oops, another rhyme! Came for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. I was actually disappointed and the variety and flavor. The chicken throughout the dishes was dry, the tacos were good and there's a lady that makes fresh tortillas. Even the street style corn was mid. I would recommend ordering off the regular menu for freshness. $80 for two for this food is definitely not worth it. Cardenas market offers better Mexican breakfast at 1/4 the price. read more

We were hungry and it was getting late and we pulled in to 7/11 for something when I saw this restaurant. We drove across the lot and were promptly seated as soon as we walked in. My daughter got chicken soup, it was delicious with huge pieces of chicken breast and veggies. My son ordered a breakfast plate for his dinner and the waiter recommended the molcajete for my husband and I to share. I was septic's since we have ordered one from other places previously and it is always small. But, THIS one was HUGE! And sooooo delicious! YES! My favorite local Mexican restaurant. Food is delicious. Never had a bad bite. They have lunch buffet every single day and the Sunday brunch buffet is even better. Fresh tortillas made there. Mimosas great. Order table side guacamole. Alllll things delicious! Service is always great. They are always well staffed and supportive. Ambiance is chill. Stopped by with a friend for lunch & was surprised by the buffet! I'm always looking for a good mole and this one had great flavor! Not spicy, not too sweet but I wish it wasn't dark meat & on the bones. The rice & beans had flavor unlike some restaurants. The tortillas are made fresh but the flour are already in foil while the corn go straight on your plate. My main complaint is that the honeydew pieces I had were sour. I think they had been out for too long or it's days old..either way it was extremely unpleasant and made me worry that I may get sick. read more

I rate my grilled chicken diabla burrito a five star! It was one of the tastiest burritos I've ever had! The chicken was well marinated, well grilled and the sauce was amazing! It's tomato based with a hint of sweet and sour but mild-moderately spicy. Personally I like spicy food so I'd say the spicy level is more mild for me, but could be spicy for others. I would definitely get this burrito again! Their salsa was also very tasty, it's a more of a smokey salsa, the spice was on point. The service was fast and the staff were attentive, very friendly people. There is a small bar near the entrance and about 3 TV screens for sport fans. The vibe is a very cozy. It's not your fancy restaurant but a very down to earth one. Location was easy to find and there were plenty of parking available. By the way, my husband got their Sunday brunch buffet. Was in Ontario Ca, for a family trip and came to this restaurant with my parents. Food was amazing the service our waitress Nataly was super nice and made great recommendations. Unfortunately I do not live in Ontario but any chance I'm around I will definitely eat here. Went on a Tuesday. Surprisingly very busy. A friend/customer of mine had recommended it to us and funny enough, we ran into another of my customers there as well. So you know if gonna be good if you recognize people there and it was your first time. My girls had the taco Tuesday tacos, amazing. I was pulled in by the Molcajeta special. Wow I finally found my favorite Mexican restaurant. It's weird I was just telling my bf I want Mexican food but not like all these places where the beans and rice don't taste so good I want some real Mexican food and one day his sister bought us food and she got me the wet burrito and black beans and rice and I was like where did she get this from? My once go-to local Mexican restaurant is now one of the last places I will consider. Let me preface by saying I write this review with a heavy heart, and I do not do it lightly. You can read my previous reviews and see that I was a huge fan and frequent patron. This review comes after giving Juancho and staff three last tries, and it delivered three Strikes... so now it's OUT. They have lost the spirit to make your meal special, and basically they stopped delivering quality food with reliable service on a consistent basis. You get one or the other, or on my last visit, you get neither. We had a large group get together there for a birthday and we got slow service, our orders were incorrect and the wait for the food was wayyyy too long. I mean, I could have driven home and cooked it, then brought it back to the restaurant in the same amount of time - and it would have come out all at the same time, and tasted much better. I've been here at least once a month for the last 2 years, some months almost every week. Things have just fallen off since the beginning of this year. I can no longer patronize and spend my money here... It does not value me as a customer and I was in denial for way too long. read more
