This place is great! The menu is amazing! Especially for a light snack or to kick start your day! The staff is super helpful and friendly, I walked in and they helped and gave me the run down of their menu. I was initially going to find frozen yogurt BUT their acai bowl was even better!! It's more of a frozen sorbet packed with granola and fruit and honey to satisfy any sweet tooth. I'm personally not a coconut fan, and the staff had no problem omitting. And I have to add, their seating (inside and out) was so cozy and perfect for this joint Will be back soon! read more

It is strange that it is a juice and coffee place that doesn't open until 11 but, we always prefer to eat and drink local so we wait through the morning to go here. This place makes great sandwiches. We stopped at this cafe that supports nutritional supplements during the Saturday Farmers Market. The location is perfect to grab a drink to stroll the market. I selected the Maca Latte and probably won't order it again. I was drawn to the unique Peruvian root, but this herb with coffee is very bitter. I'm glad the cafe had it there for me to try, and started to taste better as the drink cooled. This cafe has an interesting menu. read more

Attention all Juicers(not the sports kind...sit down slugger)....you finally have a place to go in the Tri-Valley besides Whole Foods. If you are like me and have watched "Fat, Sick and nearly dead" you now have some motivation to squeeze a vegetable or two. Here are the positives: They have fun all veg. juice cocktails and awesome smoothies! They have Acai Bowls that are great. They also have lots of gluten free options. The staff is friendly. Here is why they don't get 5 stars: Wheat Grass!!!!! The health benefits of this powerful one ounce shot of green power liquid are amazing and I hate the fact I can't add that to my almost daily order. If the owners should happen to read this...please add Wheat Grass. Cost... It is not cheap to be healthy and J&J Express is pricey. Blenzers in Castro Valley has a 24 ounce all-vegetable-juice squeezed when you order, for less than $6. My order of a shot of Wheat Grass and a 24 ounce juice is only $7.50. In comparison my average order at J&J Express is around $13 for a 14 ounce juice and a small acai bowl. That being said this place is a solid 4 stars and worth the extra money. Quite overpriced. After tip, I paid $9 for a smoothie. YIKES! The large is not that large, it's like a medium everywhere else. The items are also really inconsistent; I ordered a green smoothie one week, and when I came back the next... You'd have never been able to tell these were the same menu item by taste and consistency. This is not a place where you can grab a drink really quick and hit the road. They spend some time on the drinks, which you would think would mean the quality would be better/consistent, but alas, no. If you are the only person in there, you're going to wait 5 minutes. If there's more than 3 people already inside, don't bother. It's going to take longer than it's worth. I asked for rice milk as a substitute. Unfortunately, this last time, they used the wrong milk. I'm not sure if this was a "we forgot" instance, or a "we don't care" instance, or a "leprechauns changed all our labels as we slept" instance, but nonetheless, I would watch carefully, especially if you are someone with allergies. Wish I could've taken back my tip! Cute decor, nice location, but service is inconsistent and incredibly overpriced. For how much they cost, that smoothie better have been blessed by the Dalai Lama, or Bette Midler ought to sing to me as I drink it. In the future, I'd suggest going to one of the other places along the same street. read more

So I usually come here to get the kids their smoothies and occasionally I will get myself a juice. I may not come back. Today we ordered 3 drinks, a kids size Dragonfly, a regular Vanilla Raz Latte and a regular Blues R Good. The first two drinks were filled to the top. But my Blues R Good, half a cup, 1/4 foam and the rest empty space. For $6 something a juice, the least these people could do is either tell me they dont have enough blueberries to make a full drink instead of half assing it and giving me all apple juice because that was all I could taste. Definitely pissed because I was looking forward to a refreshing drink in 80+ degree weather but I didn't have the time to go back in because we had to be somewhere. I was delighted to find this little cafe right in the heart of Farmer's Market in Downtown Pleasanton on W. Angela St. Not only do they serve organic coffee and tea in a quaint and cozy atmosphere but they have a whole menu of juice blends and smoothies with exotic names like Dragonfly, Green Isle, Love Birds, Beet Me Up (my personal favorite) and Fresh As A Cucumber. Their wide selection of fruits and vegetables are organic, when possible, and they offer several non-dairy boosts (flax seed, pumpkin seed and vit C) as well as a nice selection of organic non-dairy milks (almond, coconut, soy and rice). They also serve a small selection of light breakfast and snack items. Their oatmeal, unfortunately, is not gluten free but they usually have a few gluten free granola type bars in the case. They also had these gluten free cookies (below) by Liz Lovely that I've never seen before. I bought the GF vegan German Chocolate Cake cookie. It was very good. It had a "raw" type texture to it though which I'm not crazy about but I did enjoy the taste and it was very moist. I wouldn't mind trying the other varieties as well. Juice and Java Express has become one of my favorite places to stop on Saturday mornings after shopping the farmer's market. The staff is friendly and it's fun to sit on one of their outdoor tables and people watch. This new little gem gets a "thumbs up." read more

I love this place! I come almost every weekday for that Green Isle Smoothie. Delicious! It is nice and clean and the customer service is awesome. I love the purple paint on the walls. I really like all the organic snacks they have out and will frequently buy some natural almonds to have in my purse. One day I would love to come by and get one of their oatmeals, the look awesome. The only reason I knocked off a star was because the smoothies are not always the same depending on who makes it. The red-headed lady makes it the best, but one time we came in and it was made by a young guy and it tasted different. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

This is a great place. The perfect after-school-snack place. The have smoothies, food, snacks and food that aren't just fat/rich/sugary pastries (like Star****). And, their coffee is GOOD. Espresso is smooth and flavorful. Highly recommend going before it gets too popular and there's nowhere to sit (VERY limited seating). Smoothies are creative and tasty. However, i get nervous when i saw bare hands handling the fruits and vegetables after doing other things non-food related. This is the best find for a Juice Bar that I have encountered so far! All organic fruits, veggies and the smoothies are one of a kind! The purple poodle is my favorite! Blueberries, banana, acai berry, and any kind of milk you would like. Protein powder upon request! Looking for gluten free? The deserts are so yummy! Biscotti cookies, other cookies, and chips and more! Want a Delicious sandwich? They will make a great one on their gluten free bread. I had a vegetarian one! The sauce they used was really good! The shop is very clean, new and great location. Bright and sunny. You can even sit out side to watch people, cars, and whatever go by... Needing a catered lunch? Java Juice has catered our office lunches. They have done a really great job! They made individual sandwiches tagged with individual people's names on their own order. They seemed surprised that I'd asked for the made-to-order sandwiches they advertise on their board, and directed me instead to the ready made ones in the fridge. You know. Like at 7-11. But they relented and made one for me. When I got the sandwich, I understood. They left off the cheese and the condiments, because it was probably too confusing for them to remember all that goes on a sandwich. The turkey is straight up Jennie-O cheap pre sliced 40% salt water stuff. I've had better sandwiches at any number of North American airport lounges. The coffee was average. Self serve on the side. You know. Like at 7-11. For the same price I could have had a great cup at Tulleys or Cafe Main. There are about four seats in the place. Decor designed to appeal to the Pleasanton weekday stroller pushing set. Overall, it appears to be a business that someone in pleasanton started to keep themselves busy. I was a loyal customer of Tully's on Main Street and have become a J&J convert. The ladies are great - and they always give me a biscuit for my pup. As for ambience - it reminds me of a San Francisco or Berkley coffee shop. Benches with cushions adorn the open seating area. There is outdoor seating as well. The service is generally very fast - a great thing if you are in a hurry - and not as busy as other coffee shops in the area. Lots of people drop in for a quick smoothie or java pick-me-up before work. The payment system is tablet driven. Also, there is a rewards program linked to your phone number so be sure to ask if you think you might be back. I would definitely recommend this place to coffee shop regulars! read more

Amazing little Mom and Pop coffee joint. - Unique drinks that you can't find at the big coffee chains (along with a whole bunch of smoothies).
