Stumbled on juice wave on a Christmas Day walk. Was looking for coffee and most shops were closed, but not juice wave. I ordered 2 pour over coffees to go, one with almond milk and coconut sugar. The barista mentioned it was a longer process so would take about 10 mins. During the wait a few people order açaí bowls from the road side window. The bowls that came out looked colorful and packed with flavor. There's not really enough space inside to sit, definitely more of a takeaway spot. The juice options also looked delicious. Nice tiny little spot on mission, for coffee, juices, and smoothies. I came back for another coffee the next day. read more

I savvy up establishments that offer açaí bowls 1-2x/week. It is one of my favorite breakfast/post gym snack/brunch foods to have. Was in town for my brothers birthday and was craving an açaí bowl, did a quick search for a local one and found a cute walk up counter. Service/Ambiance- very casual, cute, walk up counter. There are a couple of tables and chairs outside for seating. Inside you will be filled with the divine smells of passionfruit and very friendly staff who will take your order. I believe the owner of this establishment makes your order by hand with love Food- we ordered 2 açaí bowls. Bowl contents were açaí, gf granola, natural peanut butter, hemp seed, passion fruit, strawberries and banana drizzled with honey. It was hands down the best açaí bowl I've had in Southern California. I make it a point to support local businesses, I'm not a local but sooo glad I tried this place. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. This is the best açai bowl I've had outside of Brazil and I've tried a lot places. It a perfect blend, not too sweet not too sour just perfect. So glad I discovered this little gem. I deducted 1 star because the last three times I've been they were either out of bananas or strawberries. Tastes great without, but I want the full experience. They did take $1 off though and the girl behind the counter is always super nice. Fingers crossed that today's visit has them fully stocked! read more

What can I say... great service with a personal feel that you just don't get from most businesses. The business model is simple and works! Fresh ingredients put together with the customers health in mind. Not to mention,great flavors as well. The Açaí bowl with peanut butter is the bomb! We bought about four different juices as well, all delicious. I highly recommend taking the time to visit the great juice bar, then walk on the beach and enjoy the sunset while sipping on a freshly blended juice. Cheers read more

Prior to my visit to San Diego, my friend could not stop talking about Juice Wave. Seriously she talked about it EVERYDAY! So I obviously had to pay a visit to this local business. And let me tell you, it was delicious! The fruit is bought fresh from local farmer's markets daily. The granola is made in house everyday. And the acai is not liquidy like many other places; it is nice, thick, and flavorful. Arleigh was extremely friendly and greeted us with a smile. Although she ran out of strawberries the day we went, she substituted it with passion fruit, which I was not a big fan of personally, but it was still very good! Will definitely have to stop by everytime I take a trip to San Diego! read more

I grabbed an açaí bowl from Juice Wave yesterday upon the recommendation of a friend. The açaí base itself was really smooth and creamy, an almost ice-cream like texture, which I hadn't experienced before. I actually loved it! The granola and seasonal fruit were also delicious. The only thing I would change about my bowl was the level of sweetness. I don't know if it was the base itself or the honey drizzle, but it was sweet to the point of being a bit over the top. I would definitely go again, but I'd have it without the added honey. read more

This spot has the best açaí bowl in the area! The owner is on the job, working very hard to add that magic ingredient -- love, according to the menu -- to her açaí bowls but we think it's also because she's incredibly picky and uses only PERFECTLY ripe kiwi, banana, strawberry...and no fake coconut shreds! Yay! We added peanut butter to our bowls. OMG! The best peanut butter because it's the local PB (pacific beach) company peanut butter. Ha-that's funny: PBpb. Well, it's awesome however you write it. Friends ordered the juices and said they were incredible. The mason jars are cute, and you can feel the buzz from putting those restorative ingredients into your (probably dehydrated) body. Went here today for my first time and it certainly won't be the last. I came here relying heavily on their 5 star rating and now I can totally see why they're the best! I've had many acai bowls in SD and theirs are SO good. I got the half açaí half pitaya bowl and added the house made almond butter. The fruit of the day was nectarines! The granola is unlike any I've ever tried. The fruit is super fresh and everything about it was delicious and organic. The ladies working here are all super friendly and helpful as well. Super dank healthy juice, but make sure you ask how long the wait is, could be a good call to take a little stroll if you don't get a pre-made juice. Went a few times when I stayed in the area. You are what you eat and if you want to be healthy this is the stuff you need. Well-deserved five star small biz! This little hole in the wall has some of the most delicious juices and smoothies (I have yet to try açaí bowl). If you are ever in the San Diego area ( Mission Beach) you have to stop by Juice Wave. Definitely one of my favs for Açaí bowls. The granola and butter ( peanut and almond) are made in house! Meet the Business Owner: Arleigh R.

Arleigh has been working in the food industry for over 20 years. After graduating from Colorado State University, she packed up and moved to San Diego for the grand opening of Snooze, an A.M. Eatery in Hillcrest. After two years, Chef Arleigh attended the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. She then worked with James Beard Award Winning Chef, Michael Tusk at his three Michelin-Star Restaurant, Quince, as well as training to be the butcher for his sister restaurant, Cotogna. Attending every farmer's market in the Bay Area to pick up the fresh and local produce for both restaurants was one of her most cherished responsibilities. WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities for Organic Farms) was the best option for her to get her hands in the dirt. Farmer Leo's at Cardiff-by-the-Sea in Encinitas was the farm where she has cultivated her culinary skills and has become most passionate about utilizing ingredients from local farms and incorporating sustainable methods.

Visiting from out of town and saw that this place was busy so I decided to stop in and I'm so glad I did! The açaí bowls are sooooo good and reasonably priced. Also ordered a bump n grind coffee which was delicious but I spilled it... went back in to buy a new one and she was super nice and replaced it. During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.
