Are you standing outside right now wondering if an 85 minute wait for brunch is worth it? Let it be known that this is a pretty good brunch and probably any other nearby place you're checking out is going to have a wait too. I will give it to the host who was wrangling the crowd with ease. Somehow making a "125 minute wait" for some not seem so gruesome. While waiting, we grabbed a snack and coffee at the bakery down the road, while others opted to enjoy breakfast cocktails by the bar instead. Wins all around. When we were finally seated (at almost the exact 85 minute mark), we were starving and took to ordering pretty darn quickly. I opted for the half order of the Mistress Marie Laveau Benedict that comes with pulled pork, scallions, and chipotle hollandaise, and upgraded the home fries for the sweet potato hash. My better half got the chicken and waffles. The half size of the Benedict was still ginormous and the heaping pile of hash next to it made this a meal for two! I did all the damage I could and truthfully really enjoyed it. The chicken and waffles was pretty legit too. It's a tiny place which is why the wait piles up. We were in and out in about 45 minutes; however, many other tables were lingering which didn't help the wait problem. Overall, I did dig the vibe of the spot. I visited Julians for the 2024 Big Burger Blowout through RI Food Fights. The burger was great, and our server, Chelsea, was the absolute best. We picked a good time to go when it wasn't too busy, so we were able to relax and enjoy the atmosphere through our whole meal. read more

This place was great, the bathroom is crazy and insanely interesting. They have a collection of pez dispensers, and a TV playing old movies. The whole vibe of the venue is cool, and the servers were really Helpful and friendly. They have little mini personal duraflame fireplaces outside for the tables bordering the restaurant. They do provide some Warmth. I had the seacows drink, it was a warm cider with whiskey and a bunch of other things but it was so needed and tasty. We had dinner reservations so unfortunately we didn't eat, but we should have stayed and eaten because the food looked fantastic. We will be back! read more

Great place for brunch in Federal Hill! It's always busy so come on a weekday. I came here for breakfast on a Tuesday Morning and there was no wait. However, it was extremely hot inside! I'm not sure if the AC was broken--they had a ton of fans on but it was very humid inside. I had the half order of the Janet van Dyne and it didn't disappoint. Service is great here. The food is bombbb. The dishes are unlike any other places. The Oakley bowl was very unique since it came with kimchi, but gave it was a nice to cleanse your palette almost while eating the hash browns and eggs. The smoked bacon was good too. My boyfriend got to bowl with the BBQ ribes, which I liked better than my own bacon, so we did a nice swap. Definitely one of the places to put on your bucket list for brunching in Rhode Island. The eggs benedicts are incredible...just order it! Add a side of homefries or vegan tempeh hash, too. You won't regret it. This is my go-to friday night takeout, especially during the winter when it's cold and you just want those warm potatoes to fill you up. Shakshuka is also delicious with the lemon tahini. Their delivery has been solidly good, although I docked a star because there have been a couple times when parts of my order were forgotten. If you have the chance to eat in the restaurant, the decor is really neat! Also, make sure to go early if you want brunch. It fills up very quickly. read more

My friends, if you're in Rhode Island, and looking for an awesome brunch spot, please make Julians in Providence a must go on your list. Their food is AMAZING! They serve almost everything in half portions or full (for the super hungry), and the portions are very generous (even if you've ordered half a portion). I would suggest making reservations prior to your visit, or if you want to risk it you can show up and try to get on a waitlist, which was what we did. We showed up around 11AM on a Sunday, and it was estimated that we'd wait for about 2 hours, but we were seated after about 45 mins. Thank you restaurant gods! I ordered the Vegan St. Jamez Benedict which was fried tofu, topped with a very flavorful vegan hollandaise & garlic baby spinach over a piece of toast. I opted to switch out my home fries for a side of their sweet potato hash which was also very delicious. The hash contained roasted sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli and Swiss cheese. The combination was so good I immediately googled a recipe to make it at home! My friends ordered Chicken & Waffles, which is their most popular item and my boyfriend ordered the special hash of the day, which I believe had duck and duck fat in it. It was so good one forkful was not enough. I managed to sneak in a few extra bites before he noticed I was eating too much of his food. The dining experience at Julians was amazing. We dined inside, which was at half capacity due to covid restrictions. They also have a few tables for outdoor dining. And I appreciated the staff heavily enforcing the mask rule. They ask that you keep your masks on up until they serve you your food, and ensured their patrons abide by those rules for the safety of everyone inside the establishment. I've been here a couple of times since my last review and have since then come to love this place (just for brunch :)) Love all of their Benedicts', esp their Desperado benedict. Half size is plenty. Also love their thee weeping toreador omelet. The jedi mind trick is alright, as is their sausage hash. Their home fries def have a bit of curry/spice flavor to them and is different from most places. Portion sizes are quite big usually. For drinks, their bloody mary is alright, haven't had a really good one there as such. They do have a long list of mimosas and good selection of craft beers otherwise. After an hour long wait to be seated, I started with the $3 bottomless French roast coffee. Coffee was good & strong, and definitely worth it being that it was bottomless. I had the shakshuka which was delicious with their crispy garlic bread! The home fries were plain but their homemade ketchup made it better. I also tried the special hash that had chicken and peppers tossed into it. Different but pretty good! Would be better if the onions were more caramelized. My favorite thing about this place was the unique and fun looking bathroom. I thought I would never comment on a bathroom for a restaurant, but this was special. There are glass displays containing old action figures/collectibles and all kinds of Pez models. There's also a Tv playing old school movies while you handle your business! A nice little place just outside of downtown, we waited for about a half hour at around 9 am to get a table. It was busy but the staff looked like it was all part of a days work, and were continuously friendly and efficient. Our party had eggs Benedict, salmon Benedict, salmon plate, and pancakes - all had a wonderful taste , as did the coffee as well. It's loud in there though, but still can talk without an issue. Bestie and I really enjoyed our meal. We sat outside, but inside was cute and lots of hustle/bustle. All of the servers were excellent and quick and accommodating. Stopped by for breakfast on the way to Cape from NYC. Was very excited about the various choices on the menu, and decided to go with omelette and the Randido Benedict. Was a bit disappointed about the food. The red onion and and pepper inside the omelette were raw, making it very blend. As to the Randido Benedict, it's quite cool that you could switch out the waffle with spinach and the egg was cooked to perfection. I'll start this off with, I'm an actual vegan, been vegan close to 20 years now and since moving to RI I kept hearing how great this place is. Normally, the wait on a Sunday is 2 hours plus so I haven't had a chance to try it. Tried it today, the menu was limited, if you don't eat tofu you're kinda out of luck. I got the French toast, it was flavorless, so chewy I could barely cut it and just overall not good. The coffee I got wasn't even hot. Waffles and pancakes are not vegan otherwise I would have tried that instead. I gave the three stars for this place because their staff was really friendly and wonderful to us. We aren't their normal clientele as we had priests with us, so, thank you kindly for your hospitality. My friends liked their meal but are not vegans. Their food looked good. read more

This place is totally worth the hype, and the wait you may have to endure. We came before 9 on a Saturday and were able to put out names in. It's a tight squeeze waiting inside. We watched as more and more people came in to put their name in, each time a little longer of a wait was told. While you wait you can enjoy a drink, and if it's a nice day out you can enjoy that drink outside not crammed inside waiting. After about 20 minutes we were seated. I ordered a an original mimosa and my husband ordered a mango mimosa. Absolutely delicious! For our meals I ordered the Florentine Benedict (half order) with the hash browns and in addition ordered the sweet potato hash on the side. Absolutely amazing! This may have been one of my all time favorite brunches ever! We had a party of 10 so there were a lot of dishes and drinks. I was shocked that despite the large portion sizes almost every plate was clean. It was all just so so good. The menu was really creative and I wanted to try so many dishes! Also shout out to the amazing Bloody Mary and house made syrups for the coffees... AMAZING! And those house potatoes.... I'm going to crave those in my sleep! So so good. We decided to try vegan today and was so glad we tried it here. Ordered the vegan eggs Benedict, vegan hash brown and vegan corn fritters. The vegan eggs benedict came with toast topped with Spinach, a block of tofu and a very awesome hollandaise saucewhich we ordered extra. The vegan hash was also a loaf of goodness with seasoned, scrambled tofu and broccoli. The corn fritters were great too. Julian's has been lurking in my Bookmarks section for forever, but we hadn't gotten a chance to visit this quirky little gem of a restaurant until tonight. I'm so glad we did, because our meal and experience was excellent, and I couldn't recommend it enough! We are huge fans of Julian's sister restaurant, Pizza J, which is a reliable staple for an easy post-performance or rehearsal meal, but we wanted to switch it up tonight, and Julian's just happened to be open and serving up some yummy vegan-friendly comfort food, so we decided to head over to Broadway and get some grub! Like Pizza J, Julian's is decked out in vintage finery, from neon signs to string lights, which illuminate the small but lively dining area. The tables feature decoupages of old tickets from the ghosts of rock shows past, and there's even a beer on tap adorned with a glowing-eyed dragon. However, the best part of the decor is the bathroom, which hosts an impressive collection of PEZ dispensers and old action figures, and even has a DVD player with 1970s cartoons and TV shows playing on it! No better place to catch up on Magnum PI, right? The menu has a fab assortment of dishes, most which are surprisingly vegan-friendly. Though we didn't try it, they have house made seitan, a veggie beef substitute, and more than a few creative preparations of tofu. We stuck with some less adventurous noshes, but they didn't skimp on flavor or deliciousness! I loved my Pomegranate Glazed Halibut, which was light, tender, and flaky, and served with some corn/jalapeno sticky rice and roasted veggies. It was the perfect meal after dancing up a storm at rehearsal! My best friend got the Raspberry BBQ Ribs, which weren't my favorite personally (yes, I'm THAT girl that tries everyone's food for review purposes!), but she enjoyed them. To their credit, the ribs were fall off the bone, and a very hearty portion for the price. My boyfriend already ate dinner prior to our meal at Julian's, and got a salad with some of the best chicken I've ever tried (again, have to sample everything.. it's for Yelp, ok?!) The herb-balsamic dressing was also very flavorful and tasty. Of course, the Pizza J/Julian's family is known for the homemade ice cream, and with a best friend that's a dessert aficionado, of course we had to indulge! We ended up getting three scoops of ice cream - Strawberry Pear (the favorite of the night - a very unique but satisfying flavor), Key Lime (it was okay - if this one wasn't homemade, I don't think I would have liked it at all), and Oreo (a classic, hard to mess up, but still very good!). We were stuffed by the end of the meal, and the price was super reasonable - three quality entrees plus drinks and dessert for less that $100 in Providence? I'm in! Our server, Evan, was AWESOME. He was so fun and attentive, and provided excellent customer service. We liked him (and the rest of the outgoing and friendly crew) so much that upon further examination of their craft cocktail and beer menu, we discovered that for $15, we could buy the gang a staff drink at the end of the night. No question about it, the Julian's team is probably the most deserving of this perk, and we got that for them. They were very grateful, and it was fun to make them happy after they showed us such a rad time! Kudos to the higher ups at Julian's for offering this on the menu! :) I have heard for years that this is THE spot for brunch, and I look forward to trying that real soon! This place was so so amazing. I wish I lived in RI so I could come more often! It is clearly a town favorite spot because there was a wait to be seated, but it was well worth it! I had the Vegan Myrtle Snow Tofu Scram(ble) and it was so good! I also had the tempeh sausage for a side dish and it was very well prepared. The vibe of this place is quite literally so cool!! THE SERVICE ABSOLUTLY SUCKS. Drove quite a way with family, party of 3. was told to wait in the car, 20-25 minutes tops. They did not come out, and i noticed other people going in. After 40 minutes i went in and asked, as i was talking, they seated a party of 3 who just walked in, i asked and they said sorry, we will put you here, we just have to buss the table, as we waited, more people just found seats, as i asked again, they did not know what to say. Then they asked to wait by the corridor, we did not want to, but they said it was a fire hazard, so we did........then we were BLOCKING the FIRE EXIT!!!!! this was also 2 feet from the only toilet there. I was very annoyed, and asked my party to leave, then as i turned around, before i said anything, they seated 2 people in the seat we were supposed be having. honestly, i am so annoyed at giving one star. Julian's is the perfect place for brunch. They have lots of tasty drink options and TONS of food options always with new tasty specials. Their menu is full of vegan and vegetarian options which was a plus for us. We went in for brunch on a Friday morning and it was very busy, but we had attentive and friendly service. A lot of the options seem to come in half or full sizes and the half was more than enough for the folks at our table.
