This place was setup a bit like a Subway but instead of sandwiches you could choose various things like sopes, tacos, or go for the namesake jumbo burrito. It has various meats and toppings setup behind a glass case and like Subway, you tell them what you want on your order. A good portion of the kitchen is viewable and showed the place was tidy and clean. When I got to the counter I ordered a jumbo junior burrito because the tortillas for the jumbo looked like they could double as a sail for a small boat. The junior was still big enough to double as a low intensity workout weight! I had them put on carne Asada, rice, pinto beans and had it topped with pico, lettuce cheese, squirt of lime and red and green salsa. At this point I recommend two things. A bib and/or a fork. You are going to need at least one, but I highly recommend both! My burrito was definitely good. I wouldn't say great, but definitely a cut above other similar dining options in the area. Service was excellent and the only complaint I have was I couldn't finish the last part of my burrito because the carne Asada in that part was like chewing on a thick steak flavored rubber band of gristle. I had to throw in the towel at that point. I will definitely give this place another try and go for one of the other meat options. read more

Omg, this place would be my every other day go to place if it were to be closer to where I am at. If you are ever in Oak Harbor or Whidbey, it is a must try place! Love this place so much I dreamt of the meal I had yesterday. I'll find ever excuses to be back now. Really like the pick your own protein and toppings approach. Had tacos with the BEST carnitas, carne asada and barbacoa. They are all amazing especially the carnita that has the falls off the bone tenderness and super flavorful. The topping options were great, had pico, guacamole, cilantro and onions. They have cheese too and avoiding due to personal reasons. You can load up your taco however you want it. We also had the burrito with carne asada because it was mentioned a lot on Yelp. It was huge, tasty and flavorful. If I know how good the carnita was, I would get a second burrito. in case I quote myself wrong, the carnita I experienced was in a tray with lots of bone-in pork and they took the pork off the bone when they made my taco. I visited Jumbo Burrito in Oak Harbor for the first time ever! I'm not sure how long Taqueria Jumbo Burrito has been in Oak Harbor but I've been here over 20 years. I really hope they haven't been here that long because I will hate myself for waiting this long to try out their food!! I work in a nearby business and decided to walk to Jumbo Burrito for lunch today. There was a moderate wait of about 5 to 10 minutes (there were about 10 people ahead of me!). I was tempted to buy a Torta, but went with the Jumbo Burrito. I think the counter guy that took my order and started the prep for it must be a joker because he asked me if I wanted TWO!! I assured him I wanted just the one. The Jumbo Burrito definitely lives up to its name, it is HUGE! I chose the Chipotle Shredded Beef and black beans for the protein and added diced tomato, onion, and cilantro, also had them add guacamole, some of their cream sauce and powdered cheese. It seems to be real cheese that they reduce to a powder. I finished it off with their red hot sauce. I was warned that it is very spicy. I enjoyed the burrito very much despite it getting soggy because I couldn't eat it fast enough to keep all the delicious juices from soaking the tortilla! Not my fault though because, did I mention how HUGE the burrito is? It is big enough to feed two regular appetites or one gluttonous pig (ahem). The Taqueria Jumbo Burrito was very clean and had an assortment of authentic frozen desserts and soft drinks along with Pepsi soda products. The staff is friendly, polite, and helpful. I will visit Taqueria Jumbo Burrito again and I recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty Mexican restaurant. read more

Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes. The food is amazing, fresh, and their portions are massive. You'll definitely have leftovers. We're only in town for a few days and I'm considering coming back to try their tacos since we got burritos last time. One of my fav things was their horchata, it's not gritty at all and it's huge! I live in San Diego that offers really good Taco shops and I will say that Jumbo Burrito is similar to the SD ones I've dined at. The service was good and they are very friendly. It was lunch time so the line was a bit long. The Carne Asada Burrito was HUGE. I had the Carnitas Tacos and the flavors were delicious. They were pulling the meat off the bone when you order which I think is great. Pretty good size restaurant. Walk to the counter to order your food then have a seat. Deceptive pricing with a side of attitude. We've been coming here for years because the food is consistently decent. They increased their prices about a year ago, and other than posting a sign that says "our prices have increased," they have not posted any updated prices. It's in their interest to deceive customers about the real prices, but they try to cover their butts...for OVER A YEAR...by simply saying that the prices have increased. I pointed out that they could just write up a poster with the right prices until they get their monitors updated, and the woman looked at me with dead eyes. They know they're being deceptive and they don't care. On top of that, my daughter ordered a torta and asked for rice and beans on it. They could have told us it would be a $4.99 up charge, but instead chose to surprise us at the register. A $21 sandwich? No one wants that surprise. I'm never coming back. Well, that hit the spot in record setting speed. The woman working behind the counter was taking orders so fast even I (who wasn't making the food) couldn't keep up with my own order. If you're looking for a budget-friendly and flavor-packed option to mix things up in a sea of farm stand sandwiches, this spot is for you. No offense to the sandwiches, I just needed some cilantro and spice in my life for a meal to break things up. Jumbo is located in a strip mall with a build your own counter for customers to customize their burrito, taco, etc toppings with pico, pickled carrots and garlic, cilantro, salsas, cheese, sour cream and so on. Means range from $8-$12. There is indoor seating but I believe everyone was taking grab and go due to COVID. Speaking of which, they offer sanitizer at the front door and the space is limited to eight people at a time. We ordered the Cali burrito (fries inside- not my style but my dining companion loved it), chips and guacamole, rice and beans and three tacos (chicken, pork verde and tender beef that fell apart like a stew). This place taste like home. I recently left the city of angels and came to Washington state. Although it is very beautiful out here it is the food of California that I missed the most. It was easy and delicious, but the amazing service, hospitality, and variety of dishes completely delighted my family. They call their customers 'familia', and truly mean it. While we waited for our food, the owner/manager served my daughter and I samples of different meats and even gave us extras to take home. This sampling even caused my daughter change her order to the pineapple pork, which she ended up loving. This place feels like home. Every time we visit the island this is the first place we stop at. Coming from Colorado and a traditional Mexican home, it's hard to find a good authentic Mexican restaurant out the wild. The food speaks for itself but the family is the star of the show. This place has never disappointed. I've been coming here for three years now and every time I feel so welcomed as if apart of the family. Then of course the food is amazing! Tonight's experience was the same! I came in with them busy serving the dinner rush. Despite being busy, they took the time to hand pick chicken out of the chicken fajita mix for my little girls to enjoy. I didn't even ask, they offered! I told them only what was easy and without hesitation they went the extra mile. I've rarely been to places that are this dedicated to the customers and make sure everyone leaves happy.
