There is nothing better than stumbling home at 3am after a long night out and stopping by Jumbo Slice to grab a piece of pizza on the way. The pizza is good---not great, a little on the greasy side, but that's what makes it fabulous. And the slices are enormous---each is about of a pizza. I have yet to be able to finish one (but it also makes a great breakfast the next morning). This place caters to the "on the way home from the bars" crowd. No, it's not the best pizza I've ever had. BUT-I also lived really close to the Bronx for the last two years of my life so, you know...I have been on the hunt for an actual pizza by the slice place, as there def isn't one in Chinatown. I guess I'm just used to having easy access to a cheap, quick, delicious slice of pizza. I didn't realize it was such a hard thing to find in DC. and off my soapbox... SO, I finally made my way to Adams Morgan. And yes, sadly I admit that I was a little toasty by the time I put my eyes on this ginormous slice of pizza. But it was pretty good--the crust was a little thick for me but I guess since one slice really is at least two and a half, they have to make the crust thicker so it doesn't topple over. I took it to go so I cut it up in human-size portions when I got home. It def satisfied my craving for a decent piece of pizza but I can't say I'll be making any special trips to go back to this place...there seems to be a handful of slice joints in AM and over on U street. There are a lot of.drunk after bar options around. None live up to this place. Five bucks gets you one massive slice, and it is so darn delicious. I've never had a slice like this - it's as big as your face! Plus.they have oregano, red pepper, parmesan, black pepper, and garlic salt shakers around for your pleasure. Every really good bar scene area has one: the late night pizza counter just starting its peak business at 200am, serving up cheap, huge, simple pizza slices to the hungry drunks. This fills that role for the Adam Morgan area. If you've been to Charleston, SC - Giovanni's there does the same exact thing serving up 5 star pizza. Sorry Jumbo Slice, but this pizza is 2 star, at best. It's like gas station pizza - greasy, bad cheese, and not nearly enough pizza sauce. Costco size containers of red pepper flakes and garlic powder circulate to try to help the situation. I believe there are at least 3 parlors along 18th St in Adams Morgan with the name Jumbo Slice, and to be frank they are probably all the same, but this one I have been to on multiple occasions so I had to give props. Your $5 slice of pizza is enormous -- requiring two hands to hold -- and quite satisfying. Only bad thing about Jumbo Slice is that I would not recommend coming here unless you are absolutely smashed into oblivion. The place is so raucous and crowded come 3 AM that I cannot imagine it being much fun without the mind-altering effects of whiskey. Compared to Pizza Mart... This place is no good. In terms of by itself... It's not a bad place to grab a slice of pizza after a night at the bars. I'm just pissed they took 7 dollars from me instead of 6 when it clearly said 6 on the wall. I noticed immediately but the guys just looked so freaking sleazy that I didn't even want to bother arguing. The pizza was cold when we got it and I feel like that significantly made the slice taste worse. A lot less flavorful compared to Pizza Mart as well. From the sauce to the cheese to the bread it just lost on all counts. But yeah the people here are so smashed when they come in they probably wouldn't notice. read more

Husband and I visited for a weekend trip to DC because we saw lots of pictures on Instagram of the big slices. Didn't disappoint... Not the best pizza you'll ever have but good taste if it's hot. We went around 8 pm on a Friday night so it wasn't busy and the slices are pre-cut sitting on aluminum foil in a warmer (Probably for the ease of serving when it's busier). Based on the other reviews as well, it gets super busy late at night. They're open until 4 am which was understandable considering the area. Decor could use some attention but if you're just there for the food and people watching, no need to worry about that. 2-3 plastic tables w/ chairs outside and counters on both sides inside if you wanted to eat there. $6.50-8.50 for slices, $2 for drinks and they accepted cards. Crust was chewy, probably due to it sitting in the warmer but after getting through the slice itself, I don't know how you'd even have the room to eat it. Would go back, especially for the price and watching the bar hoppers walking by. Try it out! read more
