I ended up at Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins' Mid-Wilshire location as a parking hack for an event I was attending across the street at All Season Brewing. I made a couple of passes on the local streets with no luck, so I entered into their inviting large parking structure that they apparently shared with other businesses, and went inside to scope out the joint, and out of some guilt, made any kind of purchase as a sort of payment for parking. Would this odd experience leave any sort of lasting impression on me!? PURCHASE Larabar - Various Flavors ($1.29 x5): Among the five flavors I purchased (e.g. Cashew Cookie, Banana Bread, Pecan Pie, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Cocoa Coconut Chew), my favorite was the pecan pie and how it truly represented this Thanksgiving dessert but in a handy packable bar form. I actually enjoyed all of them and this brand as a whole. If you knew me, I always had some kind of granola or nutrition bar on me as a quick snack option or substitute while I was on the go. I finally found something that wouldn't cost me too much and knew I liked it, so I scored. The young man at the checkout counter was chill, rang my items up, and when I asked him about parking validation, he easily handled that for me - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) I believed they shared a parking structure with other businesses in this complex and validated your parking if you shopped with them. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of parking along the main drags of La Brea Ave. and 8th St., respectively, and all surrounding side streets, if you were lucky enough to find an open spot. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE This was a smallish grocery store with every inch seemingly maximized. The aisles were a bit snug, while they appeared to have a decent deli and prepared section. There was only one checkout area, so this truly felt like a local neighborhood version of their much larger stores such as the one I've shopped at before in Echo Park. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large surrounding windows while many electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs nor any background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL For the ultimate reason that brought me to Mid-Wilshire's Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins location, I gave it two thumbs up! And, for the items I settled on purchasing, another kudos. However, this place wasn't exactly for me nor was this particular location. For all of the health food nuts, I'm sure this was perfect for them; however, the closest I got to this would be Trader Joe's and maybe an extremely rare trip to a Whole Foods. The product mix again appeared to be limited due to the size of this store, the prices were a tad high based upon my standards, and the service was straightforward which I was fine with. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $8.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

I always ask the owner what's good today and she has samples and leads me in the right direction. Knowing that I'm usually going on a flight, she packs my fruit well so that my kids can enjoy when I arrive home. I've bought persimmons, strawberries, mandarins, and melons. The dried garlic, persimmons, beet and okra chips are our favorites. Also they have seaweed in resealable 80 packs ($6 each no tax) that make it easy to access without opening up a pack every 10 seaweed and when you need just a few pieces. Bring cash! It's not unusual for me to spend $100-200 here - everything is top quality from the spices, dried fruit and fresh fruit.

Mr Marco in the Deli dept is an expert sandwich employee. He is proficient, thorough & Delicious sandwiches. He keeps section clean, organized & moves the line. Staff is helpful in this Sprouts store.

I really appreciate that there is validated, free, parking here :) as LA can be a bit tricky…read moresometimes with parking. The validation is also easy and quick to do. It is a scan on a small machine at the front entrance of the store. The workers are also friendly and attentive to help direct you on how and where to validate. I called the store to check if the coffee bar was open, and it was! If you're coming in for just the beverages, I recommend calling the store because the coffee bar can be closed randomly and quite frequently. Despite this, the drinks from the coffee bar are so delicious and affordable. I got a small berry chantilly matcha with oat milk, which was only $5.25!! What a steal in this economy. Just this time, the drink made a bit too sweet for my liking, but delicious nonetheless.

For Valentine's day, they'll always have deals on roses and usually, on any holiday, the store will be decked out in bunnies and eggs for easter or green and what not for St Patty's Day. Pepperoni Pizza (3.5/5): definitely don't expect a regular pizza as this is made with thin crispy tortillas, could use some more flavor. Overall great spot for tacos! Along with these, I've also ordered their coconut cream horchata. I think all of these taste somewhat off.. it's either bland, or the salsa is missing something that gives it that authentic kick. But recently, I had fish battered & braised pork tacos and all of the tortillas were extremely hard. The menu isn't cheap, so this place needs to do a lot more to make their food more tasty. The self serve bar is pretty good depending on your timing. On the other side of the store is their coffee and smoothie bar. Great smoothies and great juices for pretty good prices. The bakery is also something one should check out. I often come here for birthday cakes for the office. Chantilly cake and the fruit tart are two of the common cakes I get. I also have lucked out and found German chocolate cake and raspberry mousse cakes here. I always get compliments on the cakes I bring in and surprise people when I say I got them at Whole Foods. They only negative I have here is the parking. They redesigned it and I am sure that there are going to have more parking when they finish construction in the mini center but currently, it is a pain to go in and out of.
