Junction is a new bar & grill that has opened in The Hub complex of Scripps Ranch just east of I-15. They have locations in El Cajon and Santee too. The inside was spacious and modern. When I walked in, the staff was busy, and no one was at the hostess stand. There wasn't a sign indicating to please wait to be seated so I took a take-out menu from the stand and sat at an empty high top table. Several minutes later, a waitress came by, apologized, and took my order. Happy hour appetizers were listed along the left edge of one menu page. The appetizer sections were priced at $6, $8, and $10 and were available all day. From the $10 group, I picked the Junction Rib Tips which were smoked rib tips doused with sweet BBQ sauce and served with french fries. Some of the pieces were boneless which was nice. The meat was very tender, and I ended up liking this more than my entree. Prime rib is not typically found at such an establishment, but the menu had two cuts available (Petite - 14 oz, Hearty - 16 oz). Each was served with a choice of soup or salad (my pick) along with a baked potato and seasonal veggies. I chose the smaller cut with a medium rare degree of doneness. When the plate was brought to my table, I noticed the prime rib was not soaked in au jus, and none was provided on the side. The meat was lukewarm and not as tender as I had expected. The prices were reasonable, especially the appetizers. My entree was more miss than hit, but the rib tips were above average quality. The service was okay after the initial awkwardness of not being greeted until after I had sat at a table. I gave my dining experience at Junction a 3.5 star rating. read more

We arrived 1st for a big party thinking we can order quickly and get out. NOPE ! We ordered but waited. Two tables that came after us and got their food. We asked if order was placed and waitress sed yes. So we waited. Two more tables who came after us started getting their food. We complained to deaf ears! She sed it was a big party, which is why we came early to beat the rush! We asked for a discount due to lateness but again waitress just kept talking and ignored our request. We paid and left no tip. She was not understanding to our concern. Tried to leave comment on TOAST where we got our receipt but the app sed we're too late to comment. The ambience and it looks like scale sports bar with plenty of items to choose from on the menu. However, the reason why I'm reading this too is because I ordered the chicken kebab plate for dinner and by the third bite in I noticed my chicken was raw. Notified the waitress who immediately took it back and replaced it and even though I brought it home, I was scared to eat it so that's why I'm giving it two. Oof, was NOT a fan of this place. Having worked in the industry I try not to be too critical, but wow... It'll get the job done if you're looking for drinks and TV's, but that's about it. Stopped by on a Friday night, around 6pm. It was warm out, and I noticed they had a single door open to their patio. We got inside and after sitting for a bit, I noticed I was sweating because the A/C wasn't on...it's not like we were by the water getting a cool ocean breeze. I literally felt grateful for people coming in and out just to get a breeze. They eventually opened a few more doors to the patio, I assume to get more air inside. Maybe run the A/C until the sun is down if you're trying to save on the utility bill? As for the service, we were seated promptly and our server was attentive. She made multiple trips back to see how we were doing. We started by ordering drinks. They had plenty of beers on tap, wines, and a full bar. No issues with there. Then we ordered our food. After placing our food order, the server made a comment about our food be delivered awkwardly. I didn't think too much about it until our first item, the grilled chicken taco, came out maybe two minutes later. The carne asada taco came out a couple minutes after that. Ten-ish minutes later, our buffalo chicken tenders and patty melt were delivered. Timing of food isn't really an issue for me, but it's worth noting if you're on a date and have to sit semi-awkwardly until your/their food arrives. But if you're just hanging out with friends, I guess it's nice to have food delivered quickly. The food itself was eh. The tacos, again being delivered just a couple minutes after ordering, tasted like they were thrown together from meats and topping are sitting on the kitchen line, ready to go. I'm not sure the meat even touch the grill a second time before being sent to the table. The buffalo chicken tenders were probably my favorite, unfortunately you only get two on top of a mountain of fries. The patty melt tasted the a freeze dried patty, heated up, and thrown between two stiff pieces of bread. I would recommend trying one of their other burgers. In short, go if you live in the area and want to grab drinks, otherwise I'd avoid it if you're looking for a place to get a nice meal. read more

We came here on a Friday night & it was busy! I do not think you can make a resy so be prepared for a wait if you come during their peak hours. They have seating inside & out. Our estimated wait was 15 minutes & the hostess said we could sit outside & order a round of drinks while we waited. We waited about 1 hour... I recall seeing this place before it opened a few months ago and never really checked back on it until today at the suggestion of my fiancée. Now, I have my regular watering holes, but this morning we wanted to find somewhere we hadn't yet been and Junction popped up as being open. We decided to saddle up and check it out! Being not more than 6-7 minutes away from our house, we made the short trek down the 15, walked in and were immediately impressed by the number of TVs, the openness and how spacious this place was. I believe this is a brand new building and it's very modern and incorporates what i like to see in a sports bar. Lots of tables, a large bar that wraps around when the roll-up doors are open, a great tap selection, big garage door windows for those warmer months, a large restroom and it's just overall a very welcoming place. The only thing I noticed they were kind of lacking was displaying their bottle selection. We travel to bars all around San Diego adding favorites to our list and keep a keen eye out for whisky and tequila bottles and it was kind of odd that they didn't really display many bottles. I feel doing so would afford customers the ability to see what's available versus asking "Do you have ____?" We walked in and sat ourselves down at the bar and were promptly greeted by Tony. Tony immediately asked how we were doing, asked about our morning and offered us drinks.... A couple of shots which actually was just what we needed the morning after a Chris Stapleton concert. He's exactly the kind of bartender we like to see behind a bar. Personable, attentive and not afraid to engage with his patrons. We were also waited in by Luis at one point who was also attentive, wore a smile and at no point left us feeling neglected. My fiancée and I each ordered our own drinks and she ordered the corned beef hash while I had the country fried steak. I'm a sucker for country fried steak and will order it for breakfast almost anywhere I go and this one was certainly one that I could eat over and over again. My fiancee enjoyed her corned beef hash and also agreed she would definitely order it again. We ended up staying for a couple hours, had a few drinks while enjoyeing the Padres spring training game on TV and conversing with a couple of the regulars seated next to us. It was truthfully a perfect experience and I don't think there's anything that really could have been improved on. I'm really excited to start mixing this place in with our regular rotation and Tony and Luis both made our first visit perfect. We seriously couldn't have asked more from them and they were both perfect hosts. We can't wait to come back for brunch and for baseball season. Although we casually mentioned it to Tony, the only thing that could make this place more awesome is if it became a Cowboys bar during football season. There's no Cowboys bars in our immediate area and with The Junction's logo being a cowboy hat, it just seems fitting. I would love to have a Cowboys bar to bring my fiancee and Cowboys friends to during football season. ;) read more

Nice roomie sports bar hitting well on all Notes with my waitress Alejandra taking good care of me. Only Blip would be maybe too much lighting from the high windows, but there's plenty of well placed TVs to go around. My ribeye steak bites swimming in Au jus were delicious alone, occasionally dabbing them into the creamy horseradish. Along with garlic bread(dip it!) and an added salad, it made for a delicious slow meal while enjoying the greatness of the NFL. Was plenty of food taking a third of the bites home. My red trolley draft was cold and fresh, and my eventual butter Chardonnay was an nice pour. Junction has good food and drinks. I would give Junction 5 stars but two things are holding me back from a top rating. First, the noise level becomes unbearable when the restaurant is busy. I can't believe nothing has been done to absorb some Of the noise. I have been to other restaurants with similar setups yet they have things on the ceiling to muffle the noise. The second reason is you recently got rid of the best taco on the menu! The carnitas taco were delicious. The waitress told us they were the best selling yet they discontinued selling it. I first came here for taco Tuesday and was surprised at how good the tacos were, especially for the fact this isn't a Mexican restaurant. I came back tonight with my wife for the Thursday night prime rib special. The food here is really very good. I've also had the chicken pasta entree, which is excellent. I came here tonight for the first time after looking for a spot that would be convenient for my best friend and me to meet. I live in Serra Mesa and he's in Rancho Bernardo. This place was a perfect halfway point. Why the high rating? 1) The bar is clean and modern, with convenient parking and a great outdoor seating area. 2) The menu has a wide variety of appealing options; something for everyone. 3) Prices are very reasonable (especially by San Diego standards!). 4) The staff was not only friendly and attentive, but the waitresses also added a touch of charm: professional, welcoming, and yes... very easy on the eyes (meant in the most respectful way!). If I had to nitpick, the indoor space can get a bit noisy, but the outdoor area is a great alternative if you're looking for a quieter vibe. After wondering if this place was opened or not, finally decided to walk over to give it a try one Friday night and was surprised to see that it was almost completely packed although we were able to be seated right away. The server we had was very friendly and attentive as well as the busboys who cleared our plates almost immediately. The food was surprisingly really good especially the al pastor nachos! I also liked their bacon cheddar potato wedges although I feel like they could have been a little thinner to give it more of a crisp. It's definitely got a sports bar vibe with various games on in the interior and a lot of loud chatter. The last couple times during the week have been understaffed. It's Saturday evening and we tried to get seated and there was a line of like 10 trying to get seated while the hostess was answering phone calls. Again, the food is good and the menu is a wide variety. Indoor/outdoor seating and a full bar! A couple of their servers are on point.... Some, not so much.
