    Board games by the fire

Wow, took us a while to find it! My lady thought we were driving into a "Horror/ slasher" situation but it turned out for be a really cool hidden Gem! Great views nice little old school dinner amazing vibes. Service was a little chill but if your have the time very much a great spot to stay or eat! Looks like they have a spa down stairs. Lots more to explore but we were in a hurry. Oh even board games by the fire place!

What an interesting spot! Staying near Incline, good breakfast is nearly impossible to find, (at least according to the good people of this app). We were heading home and wanted to eat a real breakfast before officially hitting the road and stumbled upon this place. Well hidden away down a steep ramp in the back of a little motel/hostel, June Bug Cafe really feels like the lodge of a summer camp in the best way. Due to its hidden location and proximity on the grounds, we may have been the only people eating there who weren't staying there. Surrounded by a quiet birthday party, sleepy young adults getting ready to leave for Yosemite, and a business retreat meeting, we found a lovely table toward the entrance of the restaurant after ordering our food and sat. The menu is traditional diner food. I was frankly elated. I love breakfast and we hadn't had true breakfast in a few days. One thing from our specific experience is that the food took a notably long time to prepare. We weren't annoyed by that, I chalked it up to being freshly made... and it seemed to be! Once the food arrived, (was so hungry, didn't take a photo) the plate was huge. The bacon was cooked in a way that made it taste like summer camp. All in all, the food was good. The coffee though... not great the day we were there which was a bummer. Instead, I went to a coffee spot in Mariposa after. If you happen to be in the area for breakfast, this is likely the closest spot to Yosemite on this side with good food.

Read the reviews and made sure to stop here on our way out of Yosemite for the day. Off the beaten path but awesome vibes. This cozy spot makes every dish to order, so there is a short wait but it's totally worth it. Menu pictures in other reviews are up to date. I got the chicken and my husband got the steak. Both were excellent. I also appreciated the reasonably priced kids menu!

drove 30+ min out of the way past our hotel after a long hiking day in Yosemite and I'd say it's worth the detour. in general the food is much higher quality than your average lodge restaurant or park food court. you order at the counter and seat yourself, and servers bring you your food. it was pretty lively and cozy. we tried the salmon burger ($19) and sliced ham ($22) and the portions were very generous. they also kindly substituted out coleslaw for more mashed potatoes. the ham was pretty tender, and the accompanying sauce was sweet and flavorful. the salmon burger was just okay, but it wasn't dry. the mashed potatoes and brussels were good, but the carrot was too hard. we ended off with apple pie and vanilla ice cream, I thought it was too sweet but would recommend other desserts--their cookies are humongous

Definitely one of the best options in Yosemite! I got a huge rack of pork ribs with mash potatoes, Brussels sprouts and carrots for $30. In addition, it comes with a side of soup or salad. Service was great and there was a lot of space in this restaurant.

3 stars for staff and food being good. -2 stars for hardly any parking, reservation system that is of no use as you just walk up to the counter to order. You get a number and get bring you your food. Staff was so kind and friendly. Accommodated my allergies as well. Menu changes by day it's very limited. I did not want such a large dinner at the high price. Glad there were some options to choose from though. Fish had some bones in it but it tasted good. Soup was good. Chocolate pie was just ok. Crust was good. This place had the most creepy Hills Have Eyes Texas chainsaw vibe. The alien ant head on the wall really was out of place for a family restaurant but fit this creep place vibe perfectly. I def will not return if I don't have to. No one would even know it's there unless it were for Yelp. It's not on a main road. Only ended up here due to Awhannee in Yosemite being under construction and not having a regular menu.

The Bug Hostel in Mariposa is like stumbling onto a Michelin-star restaurant disguised as a rustic mountain hideout -- built for hikers, climbers, white water rafters, and anyone who thinks showering after a 12-mile trek should come with gourmet soup and a soak. Let's talk food: it's not just "good for a hostel" -- it's legitimately amazing, period. The salmon or whatever fish special they've got going? Always A+, never misses. And the soup? Let's just say I'm convinced someone in that kitchen made a deal with a culinary wizard. I order extra every time because they've clearly got the Midas touch -- everything they ladle turns to gold. And just when you think it's all about the food, you remember the spa downstairs. Hidden like some kind of Nordic oasis, it's got a sauna and hot tub that feel like a reward for surviving your last hike, or maybe your last run-in with a bear (which, yes, totally counts as cardio). There's nothing like steaming the mountain grime out of your pores while your legs try to forgive you. The Bug is not just a hostel -- it's a mountain retreat with soul, where you can eat like royalty and recover like a Viking. Five stars, gold soup, and a hot tub confession session all in one stop.

The food was good I had French toast and pancakes both were good i went around 7 so not so crowded the place is a bit into the woods so alittle hard to find. Overall a good experience.

    Pesto pasta

We ended up at June Bug Cafe after being disappointed by the food near our hotel, and it was worth the 35-minute drive. The food was fresh, and you can see the chefs preparing everything in the back, which was a nice touch. I had the pesto pasta, and it tasted great--clearly made with fresh ingredients. All main dishes come with a house salad or miso soup; I went with the miso soup, which had big chunks of tofu that I really appreciated. The menu seems to change frequently, which could be a plus or a drawback depending on what you're looking for. My husband was hoping for a burger, but there wasn't one on the menu that day, and unfortunately, nothing else appealed to him--so he didn't end up ordering anything. The service was good, and the overall vibe is very rustic, just something to keep in mind. All in all, it's a solid spot for fresh, well-made food if you're in the area.

Super cute spot! Absolutely loved driving the mini road to get here; the selections are small, but the food is good for the area! They make giant pots of coffee that is self serve. You order up at the front and they call you to pick up the order. The interior is cute, cabin and rustic charm. Parking is plenty up front! Driving to the location is good - one road, it's small so be careful! Will be back in the future if I am in the area

Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, cold, perfectly tangy. Amazing!

I honestly cannot say enough great things about this place. Everything from the food to the service to the rustic charm...this place has my heart. Their desserts are out of this world, and their entrees are both hearty and wholesome and definitely hit the spot after an active, long day out in Yosemite Park. I am so glad that this place exists and I make a point to come here every time I am in the area. Thank you June Bug Cafe!

Our bartender forgot our wine order entirely, then forgot water, silverware, and napkins--multiple reminders were needed while our food arrived and sat in front of us. The food was just as bad as the service. The salmon was dry and overcooked, the rice was unpleasant, and my lamb was extremely dry and tasted old. The "vegetables" were clearly frozen broccoli. No check-back during the meal, despite plenty of attention to other guests. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had here. Very disappointing for a local spot I've supported in the past.

Recommending this place to anybody who likes oysters and lobster rolls. We had identified the restaurant prior to arrival in the town and we were lucky enough to have it be only a two minute walk from our Airbnb. We wanted for nothing, as the service was very good. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, made suggestions, and willing to go the extra mile for us as we kept re-ordering additional food. They had many different specific oysters to choose from and they grilled them or served them raw, depending on what you preferred. As it turns out between the four of us eating, we had it both ways and they both were special. It was a beautiful evening and so our group of four decided to eat on the table right on the street. We enjoyed the ambience very much. So, if you're like me, and you're a little bit skeptical of the quality of the seafood being served in Murphy's California, there is nothing to worry about right here. Everything looked and tasted great, the service was great. They didn't rush us and we drank a bottle of California sparkling wine from Schramsberg, and so for a couple of hours last night, everything was right in the world.

My dad had eaten here 2 years ago when he camped in the Wishon area with my sister and her family. In fact, he mentioned that to our server (I believe her name was Maya or Mara) and she shrugged it off nonchalantly. She couldn't have cared less that he'd had such a good experience that he wanted to return with us. It was almost as though she preferred us not being there as it was kind of how the rest of our interactions went during our meal, which was unfortunate because I really wanted to like this place. My parents split a Reuben sandwich with their delicious apple & walnut salad. I got to taste the salad, and wish I had ordered it with chicken or salmon, but I was craving something more filling to last me most of the drive back to Los Angeles. I opted for their cheeseburger and potato spirals. I requested Swiss on my burger, but wished afterwards that I had requested it with their smoked blue cheese as my burger lacked a bit of flavor and juiciness; despite asking for it to be cooked medium, it was quite dry. My daughter had their fish n chips from the kids menu but opted for broccoli instead of potatoes (she loves broccoli and I wanted help with my potatoes anyway). The breading on the fish was very crunchy, and my daughter complained that it hurt her teeth a bit. Our server never once came to check on us to see how our meal was nor to ask if we needed refills on our drinks or anything else. In fact, when she did return it was only to set the bill on the table without saying a word and run off to check on the couple at the next table. Literally a drive-by dropoff of the check, haha. And less than 20 seconds later she turns around and motions to pick up the little folder with the check in it and asks us "Is there anything in here yet?" I must've had some look on my face because she set it back down and immediately says, "No rush." Like, come on! You LITERALLY just set it on our table. I was quite annoyed - like did you think we were going to dine and dash? My mom was too intimidated to ask for a refill on her Arnold palmer to go. I still had lemonade in my cup so I did ask for a plastic cup to take the rest of it to-go as I didn't wish to hang out there much longer. Anyway, I hate to give bad reviews, but after such an amazing time in Yosemite, this one just stunk up the end of the trip. Some tips: circle around the buildings in the front where the market and self-serve gas are. Plenty of parking. Views of the lake are nice. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, two floors with restrooms on both floors- the lower level seems to be reserved for dinner hours and maybe even small parties/events. Hopefully you have better luck than us in terms of service.

Charles Street Dinner House, Mariposa: 2026 Mar 12 (4 of 5)…read more Let me start off by saying that we were extremely pleased with the service, thanks to Dillon (who showed genuine rapport), Tomben (his honest opinions) and Amya (who brought me piping hot water in a beautiful mug and teapot). Their friendly, yet professional attitude make this eatery stand out. (5 of 5) This eatery has a vintage feel and historical charm. We felt we could really relax and take our time instead of being rushed to order, eat, then leave. The atmosphere feels rustic, exposing the past. It was a time capsule for folks who enjoyed that era. FOOD: Sauteed Mushroom Soup: The soup arrived with garlic bread. The soup had an earthy, savoury and nutty texture. The rich, velvety mushrooms were bouncy and cooked well, while the umami-packed broth felt comforting. The garlic bread that accompanied the mushroom soup had a perfect balance of textures - heavily buttered, with savoury garlic flavour. The golden-brown, crispy exterior was not overly toasted and the sticks were enhanced with a touch of herbal flavour. (5 of 5) New Zealand Rack of Lamb: This was my order - cooked medium-rare. The perfectly cooked meat was tender - unfortunately lacked seasoning, but a dash of salt brought this to a perfect 5. (5 of 5) I had a choice of potatoes or rice pilaf and made a wrong decision. The rice pilaf looked like baby food, and the fresh red pepper over-powered the entire dish. I tried a small scoop and was disappointed. Needless to say, I couldn't eat another bite of the rice. (1 of 5) My vegetables were mostly cooked well. They had a bit of crunch and texture but not raw. My dinner came with Tomato Soup. The soup tasted nutty and lemony, with a slight heat - and has a good aftertaste. It was silky and smooth, rich, and velvety. (5 of 5) Scallone: Our other order came with onion soup. My dinner partner had the privilege of tasting one of the best scallone years ago and was hoping to bring back great memories of this special dish he loved. This marriage of blending ground abalone and scallops is a savoury dish formed into patties. It is then breaded and lightly pan-fried in butter. The texture is supposed to be tender yet firm. The temperature was perfect but the patty came out almost like a regular pancake. A chunk of fresh red pepper was also thrown in, perhaps for colour, but it overpowered the dish. The pilaf rice was also a no-no. When the server came and asked how we enjoyed the dishes, I had to be blunt and said, "I didn't like the rice". Our server apologized and immediately offered to remove the rice on both plates and asked if we'd like potatoes instead. My partner opted for the baked potato. (5 of 5) The onion soup that accompanied this order was also a fail. Overall, this dinner was a 2 of 5. We were there to celebrate my birthday, so for dessert, we got Coconut Crème Brulee. Even though it wasn't cooked evenly, the light flavour of the coconut did not take over the mild flavour of the crème brulee. A lovely ending to an interesting dinner... and the crème brulee was a birthday treat, on the house. (4 of 5) Would we return? I think we would. I'd like to try other items on the menu because we feel it our privilege to have met some of the nicest staff in an eatery.
